Did you hear that the actor that played the Wesley in that movie was bit by a rattlesnake? He later posted in his twitter feed that at least it wasn't a ROUS! Lol!

How close are the ratfolk, and what's the terrain like? "Shining Mirror" can detect evil, but it has the abysmal range of 20ft... might want to make use of that if it's possible without too much risk.

This particular chamber is a rough oval, forty feet wide by sixty feet long, with a ceiling height of thirty feet. The place is filled with dirty blankets and piles of straw that is used as bedding. It is obvious that the room has been cleared out a bit by the ratmen, leaving little cover to hide you if you try to get close.

That being said, there are a few ratmen in close proximity to you, and are in the twenty foot range for your sword to try and detect evil, with most of them further into the chamber and are out of range.

Terra nods. In a quiet voice, she says, "I am thinking that, from what you have described, what we are looking at to be causing this fear is a vampire. If it is, we can easily deal with it, once we find the fiend. Well, it may not be as easy as usual, since we are trying to cut back on our magic use while we're in here. But even so, we can prevail. Now, I am thinking that we try to make a deal with these rat-people. If we can show them that we've dealt with their vampire problem, perhaps they can show us the way through these tunnels to the entrance to the Lone Star complex that we're looking for. It would save us a ton of time instead of having us hunt blindly through here until we stumble upon it on our own."
Wow! Psychie Psychie This is why Terra is in charge! Way to think ahead!

The lead rat man looks at Eron and says, "The dead thing doesn't hunt every night, but it only comes to hunt us when the sun is down. How it knows when we are this deep inside the earth, we don't know."
Sherwood Sherwood With his background in the mystical and supernatural, could Snowfall perhaps use his Skills in an attempt to figure out a reasonable answer(s)? I mean, for all we know, the the answer is vampire has a Timex on his wrist. Boom-done.

I haven't yet had my coffee and I'd rather ask about the possibility before posting skills and percentages to roll first.

You would know without the need to roll that even in an underground environment, vampires are tied to natural sunrise and sunset, so that they will still be forced to find a place to go slumber for the daylight hours and they will then be active at night. This time is linked to the direct sunrise and sunset of the location that they are at, so if a vampire traveled overseas, it would still have the same requirement to sleep during daylight hours where they are.

For Western vampires, this is true. Vampires differ from gaming system to system (take White Wolf, for example) and even from Game Master to Game Master. What I would like to know is the answer to the Ratfolk's own interest-raising question. Put another way, does Snowfall know of any vampiric powers or supernatural means that they use that would be able to tell them the time of day or night? Do they naturally know (as kitsune know the presence of magic and chi)? Or are they like most humans who require some source outside of themselves (even if it's just their own eyes) to tell them time of day?

Not knowing if there is anywhere in the books that stat out the Oriental-style vampires (since they are very different from what I know of from lore), I am only discussing the Western vamps. They are tied to the sunrise and sunset without needing to see anything outside at all. They can be miles underground and it does not matter; they will arise at sunset for the location that they are at.

Oh, wow! You are so very nice to Western vampires in your game! =)

Does Snowfall know this? Do you want a skill roll(s)?

Heya1 This is moving along pretty fast between Sherwood and Psychie. I'll post here when able, but Psychie's game and Broadsword are my priorities before I do that. =)

Your game, your call. All I'm saying is I can only approach one game at a time before I post with Snowfall. I have just now posted as Kitty in Psychie's game. I'm going to take a break and come back to posting later. =)

Just to give everyone a quick heads up: I'm getting ready to go visit the in-laws across the country in Virginia for the next six days starting tomorrow morning. I'm going to be traveling all day tomorrow, but I am going to be bringing my laptop to keep up on the game in the evenings when things are winding down.

Thanks for the heads-up - hope y'all have a great time, enjoy the trip!

Hey folks, where do I find the distance that a regular character can leap? Eron has that number +3ft, and 21 more for his psionics; so maybe that'd be enough to just leap over, but I can't find the number in the rules.

I can't either and I've been wondering the solid answer to that for some time. Each Palladium game either doesn't have a hard and fast rule, or the rule changes from game to game.

What I use in my games (and to keep it simple): In Ninjas & Superspies, under both the Acrobatics and Gymnastics skills, one can "Leap four feet high and four feet long plus 2 feet per level of experience." If the PC doesn't have those skills then they don't get the extra 2 feet/level. Perhaps Sherwood has another method?

I hadn't put much thought into it, but with the sheer strength of the Crazy and a running jump, you would probably be able to clear the gap.

I am thinking that Terra with her speed, gymnastics skill and Augmented strength should be able to make it across with a running leap. I am not going to bet the bank on that, though. I think that tying a rope around the waist of the person making the jump would be a good thing to do. Then the person on the other side ties off the rope and the rest of us that wish to cross can do so safer.

That is possible to do, assuming that more than one person wishes to cross the chasm.

Psychie Psychie I will answer your post later. I need a break now.

My only concern is two-fold. One is our Elven ally (how might he cross? Snowfall could get him over there no problem using Karumi-Jutsu. No rope required). The second is getting our intel prior to crossing (do we even need to cross? I'll have Snowfall check things out with his multi-optics helm and scopes. Of course, the more eyes on this, the merrier).

More anon. =)

Fair enough. I just wanted to make sure that I was not using out of character knowledge to make my post, so I tagged you. Take your time and feel better.
