Wow! Thanks for all the thoughts!

If you want to stick with the themes of a kitsune, perhaps a tranquilizer / sleep power is what you're looking for.

It won't be very helpful on undead and automatons and the like I'll wager, but those aren't really the type to surrender, are they?

Another alternative would be a lightning / illusion projection that inflicts intense pain and fear. I dont have encyclopedic knowledge of spells, but anything in the vein of terror would work here.

Ice and time manipulation are good calls aswell FWIW. Up to how mystical you want your approach to feel vs scientific.

Sherwood has ruled that the Dragon Rod works best with W.P. Energy Rifle so Snowfall will be using those. He's letting me start with a "good" TW weapon on top of it, so he would presumably already have it at the start of game. I would prefer going mystical here, but he's not into Agony spells or Fear effects or the like.

But... I really wouldnt be able to pass up a good old fashioned freeze ray, personally.

I really like this idea but I can't find a spell or weapon that does the job. The closest thing I can find is the Naut'Yll Sonic Rifle (Book of Magic, page 325).

Could always ask the GM. Might make an allowance. After all, a freeze ray isnt a totally invasive concept.

I'll take a look in the books to see if there is something in the 'freeze ray' area. Off the top of my head, I'm not sure, but there are tons of spells in the book.

Sherwood Sherwood It's "cool" but I think his Police Stun Rifle is more effective and having a custom TW gun made, well, you have been very generous in just allowing me to play Snowfall's character concept - a Japanese Fox Spirit who likes Chinese martial arts, doctoring up people with mundane and magical methods, serving his Lord Inari as a messenger, and already coming with lots of goodies to show for it.

If you like, I'll just go with the TW Naut'Yll Sonic Rifle (Book of Magic, page 325)? Unless there is a TW weapon that causes conditions that you would rather see in your game?

EDIT: Or any TW gun for that matter. You really have been generous. =)

That will be fine.

@Sherwood Now that we're quite close - is there a chance to estimate if it's reasonable to level the entire building with the available means? With claws, in particular? My instincts are that it'd be best to go inside and search for something to blow up in the interior while our forces distract the mechanoids; but maybe I'm wrong on that. Is there an obvious entrance that we could use, or would we have to blow up the doors first to get in? Thus far, no reinforcements came from inside, so the entrances might be locked...

Sherwood Sherwood Posted this question in the ooc, think you might have missed it in-between the other posts; and then I forgot that it's actually my turn, somehow - whoops.

Sorry about that. I did miss it. Yes, there is a large door not far from your current position. It is 40 feet high by 30 feet wide, and it is made of heavy material.

No worries - I'll get a post up in a bit to move things forward.

So we're attempting to demolish the door?

Funny thing about that. Doors are like chains, only as effective as the weakest part of a barricade to a savvy infiltrator. Hinges, latches, frames, or adjacent walls could always prove more susceptible to attacks than the surface of the door itself.

I'm sure we can find a way to get past it with a touch of weaponized stupidity.

I've missed something and I'm not quite sure what it is.

Zeph closes in to land next to the structure that the Mechanoids are building, and up close, it is much larger than you had first thought it would be. It is easily large enough to be able to slip inside and do some mischief. But for now, Zeph has a half-dome set up behind you to help keep the ground troops off your back.

If we are here to destroy the Mechanoid's Rift generator (for lack of better term), why are we messing with a door?

To get inside the armored shell and get to the more delicate innards of the mechanism.

Ah! And so, for the sake of haste, it's probably better to "Telemechanic" the door than to blow it. Thanks! =)

Damn, I forgot to respond to the action in-game: I'm totally fine with the immediate transport to the door - it has the additional benefit that our dragon can happily chew on a few more mecha until I get it open, and Grad is right there to stop whatever comes through.

Random calculation: I actually have access to a teleportation spell - so for the small cost of about 1200 ppe, I can get our Glitter Boy right into the base. And it only fails in about 28% of the cases.

I thought Shaona was going to attempt Telemechanics on the door?

Yes, I should open the door first, my friend: Otherwise, I don't know what's inside and then the chance of success for the double teleport is at 17%. Those are some real bad odds when you consider that he can just walk over...

I'm a bit confused. How / Why are others getting so close to Zeph and Shaona when there should still be a lightning barrier in place separating them from the rest of the battle while they sabotage the rift generator?

They are not right next to you, just close by to provide support and try to keep the bad guys from attacking you. They have not passed through the barrier.

Well - crap. I expected many things behind that gate, but not a fricking dragon. My first instinct is to close the door and act as if we never saw anything - unfortunately, we gotta stop the portal from opening, so that's not really an option.

Sherwood Sherwood How well could the Glitter Boys fire into the building from their positions, now that the door is open?
@ Team: I'm thinking it might be the best option to lure that beast outside just to get a clear line of fire, but that also gives the dragon more space to work with. Any thoughts on where we want to fight that thing? It really doesn't sound like peaceful negotiations are an option...
