Returning Roleplayer, Difficult to Choose a Place to Start

As the title says, I am a returning roleplayer. I've been lurking on this site for a few days now though. I loved roleplaying in the past, but I'm finding myself wanting to make any sort of commitment to a roleplay. After joining/starting so many in the past and having them burn off early, I feel like this is affecting my decision to jump into a roleplay as I once did.

So, I've been procrastinating joining one. Procrastinating in the ways of playing games on my computer that I haven't played yet. (Geneforge etc.) or binge watching short animes (Gargantia etc.) I also have a fear that no one will have patience to deal with my lack of writing or lengthy amount of response time while trying to get back into this hobby. A lot of the times though, I feel inspired to create a world, but have no desire to make characters for it, or anybody else's world.

Not really sure what the goal of this thread is. Maybe it's just me ranting. Maybe it's me just trying to get something out there that isn't something that's just short and quirky. Maybe it's Maybelline.

You can shoot me for that last sentence.

Oops...My hand moved on its own. That wasn't me! I'm Sky! If you make a new world, tell me! I'll help! I have too much time on my hand this week...and feeling a little creative! hehe

I think I'm more looking to join a roleplay before I create a world. I want to get my feet wet, but I'm slightly intimidated by how many different ones there are. Kind of just looking for some kind of simple fantasy to join. Fantasy is my stronger suite of roleplaying.

As always, I'd recommend browsing the Interest Check forum to find something that you like. The difficulty is that it's hard to tell how reliable and consistent the roleplay creator is (which I find is usually solved by just doing it yourself), but for you I'd say just dip into some and try it out. You'll get nothing done if you don't do anything, and will stagnate in your complacency. If you later find you were mistaken in joining the roleplay, then let the creator know. Most of the time if you explain why they'll understand.
