The Animus:

"Primary subject located."

The Animus locked onto a particular Essence signature. The signal block showed a cursor over the tapestry of Creation, moving to a location in the Eastern Threshold, just over the City of Nexus.

"Acquiring local visual target."

The image zoomed down several orders of magnification.

"Establishing visual/auditory uplink."

The view quickly shifted to that of a three-dimensional view as if Arcanix Darsonnia was standing right there in the same room.

The sun shines in through a window in a small inn in the Cinnibar District of Nexus. It is sunrise on Saturnday, the 28th day of Descending Fire, the day before Calibration begins. The Animus completes its lock on one O-Ren, Sidereal, Chosen of Endings, who is just waking up.

It's a new day. You've a job to do, a list you need to check, and sanction to deliver.

Welcome to Nexus, O-Ren.

What dost thou do?

Here's the track song.

O-Ren slips out of bed and makes her way over to the window and looks out at the teeming mass of people in the square below. A part of her wanted to crawl back into bed; the first soft matress she has had the chance to enjoy in weeks. But, if she did succumb to temptation, somehow her sifu would find out and she would pay for her laziness in spades. I wonder if there is any chance that I'll be able to wrap up my list tonight and get to enjoy the Calibration party back in Yu-Shan? <chuckle> Dream on, O-Ren. Even if all the Spiders are working together to make that happen, Aiken would find something for me to do to keep me busy. Someday, that will change.

After her morning toilete and bath, she prepares to slip once more into her cover identity. After the casting of her spells of Disguise of the New Face and Unbreakable Bones of Stone, she is now ready to face the world as Wren, the Earth Aspect Dragon Blood. All the better to explain the occational display of Essence without making the Pattern Spiders testy.

Once her Anima fades away from her spellcasting, 'Wren' makes her way downstairs to the common room of the inn for her breakfast. While she eats, she ponders the list of names that she still has to take care of. She had long given up trying to figure out what these people were doing that was so disruptive to the Loom that matters had to be taken in hand to sanction them. Too many questions and not enough answers. Lets see. Who should I visit tonight? That merchant, Gaius Delecort. He shouldn't be too hard to find. Slip in, take care of business, and slip out with no one the wiser. O-Ren takes the last swallow of juice and drops some jade on the table. Time to check out the market district.

The Animus:

You exit into the warm morning air. The city streets are mostly empty at this hour, as much of the city is still sleeping. From what your intelligence indicates, Gaius Delecort should be tending his shop in the Nexus district, where he also lives with his family.

Fate decrees that he must die.

Your intelligence gives no reason for this, not in the same way as the previous two targets.

O-Ren moves through the streets quietly and quickly. She is on a mission of murder and does not need any distractions. Thankfully, she is only to sanction Gaius and not his whole family. Killing children would set her on edge.

Moving through the merchant quarter, she finally finds the shop/house where her target is residing. O-Ren briefly wonders how she should do the deed. Poison? Effective, but his family might be targeted instead. Kick the door in? Messy and loud. No finesse. No, she will ghost her way through the walls until she finds Gaius, and use a simple sword to chop off his head, then slip out. Don't overcomplicate what you are dooing. Keep it simple.

With a thought, her outfit changes from one of simple elligance to one of more martial intent, one keeping her face hidden behind a veil. She may be disguised with the effects of her spell, but why take a chance? She moves around to the side of the house, and using her Charm Unnatural Many-Step Stride, she dematierializes long enough to walk through the wall into the shop. She stops and looks around, moving carefully towards the back of the place where she can hear the sounds of someone moving boxes around.

The Animus:

You hear a good bit of rustling and chattering and murmuring coming from the back room, a door separates the front of the shop and the back room.
