Realistic or Modern Redwood Academy for the Troubled and Gifted youth

xIDiamond

Cookie Monster

Welcome to Redwood , the boarding school for the Gifted and troubled youth.

This boarding school was created as an experiment. It enrolls two types of students: the perfect honor roll students who always raise their hand and the obnoxious gum-smacking troublemaker that blurts out inappropriate comments the entire class period. Redwood Boarding School only accepts the best students and the worst. Why do students even choose to come here? For the deal. The good students are offered scholarships and any financial support needed for them to go onto college...under one condition: students must help tutor and room with the educationally-challenged teenage criminals until Graduation Day as well as staying out of trouble. What's in it for the troublemakers? They get a clean slate, and every single bad thing on their records get burned IF they make nothing below a C in any class and as long as they don't drop out.

Millicent

Getting out of the car Millicent waved goodbye to her parents , carrying her rucksack she headed inside. Her parents had told her to go straight inside for an assembly , she was nervous about meeting the troubled students. The rumors said they were all murders but she assumed that wasn't true , they had told her she had to tutor them as well which she wasn't looking forward to. Heading inside she took a seat in the back row , the headmaster was standing at the front. Millicent , sat down and waited for everyone else to arrive. There was quite a lot of seats but she knew they wouldn't all be filled , she hoped the dorms would be okay , they had let everyone decide how to decorate them . Millicent was only here for the deal , she wanted to go to veterinary school but that would be way too expensive for her to pay for on her own.

Libbi

Dragging her suitcase behind her Libbi headed towards the school , she had been told she had to drop off her dog into the schools stables as he wasn't allowed in the dorms or the school. The letter had said she had to go to a welcome meeting for new students , she didn't want to but even an idiot would know getting off to a bad start here wouldn't end well. Sighing she entered the assembly room and took a seat. She could only make out one other student in the room , Libbi assumed the other students must still be arriving.

Travis hopped out of his parents' Jeep, his suitcase in tow. They'd just came back from dropping his dog to the kennels, and now all he had to do was sit through a boring assembly. He sighed as he pushed open the doors and walked into the auditorium (or where ever it's being held), only spotting a couple people. He guessed that most people haven't showed up yet, and he'd have to wait a long time for this thing to begin. Being the type of person he was, Travis automatically moved to the back, where he was greeted with another girl. He couldn't tell if she was gifted or troubled.

Florian Nettles ⚫Gifted

Florian clutched his bag and watched a few people enter the assembly. Never first to arrive, but never last either. They both drew unwanted attention. Instead he waited until a few people had arrived, then slipped in before the door had time to close on their backsides. Florian lifted his cases and slunk into a chair near the exit, drumming his hands against his knees.

Mae Fēng ⚪Troubled

Hoisting her pack over her shoulder, Mae shoved open the door and strolled directly to the front of the room. She dropped her bag in one seat and herself in the other, not minding the noise she made and winking at the headmaster's glance of disapproval. She didn't want to be here, that much was obvious, but she was willing to put in two ounces of effort.

Myra was the last to step out of the bus. There is no point on going first, and it's not like the bus will leave that soon anyway. She took out a lolipop from her pocket, unwrapping and putting it in her mouth, before navigating her self toward the room where the assembly is going to be held.

She's not the first one to come, not the first troubled kid much to her surprise. Myra sat in one of the seat located in the back, and puts her backpack in the seat next to her. She continued to nonchalantly eat her lolipop.

Travis noticed an unfamiliar girl sit in the back row also, not particularly next to him, but close enough. He watched as she ate a lollipop as if she had not a care in the world. This was leading him to believe she was troubled, but he still couldn't be sure. A slow smirk appeared on his face as he leaned over. "Have another one of those? I don't like waiting and I need a distraction." He said, pointing at her lollipop. He studied her face up close, looking at her through the shades he always wore.

Meet and greets: the time when we awkwardly get to know each other as if we actually care
Marina Valdez

Marina sighed as she stepped off the bus and headed into the school building. She and the rest were supposed to meet in the assembly hall to get some kind of orientation. She already knew why she was here: to teach 'troubled' kids stuff they probably already knew but didn't care much about.

Finding the auditorium, she took a seat in the middle of the room and simply waited.

Florian Nettles⚫Gifted

Except for a hushed whisper in the back or the headmaster shuffling papers, the room was quiet. Florian felt as if even his breathing was too loud, and shifted uncomfortably in his seat. The chair made a terrible squeak and he glanced around to see if anyone was disturbed by it.

LUCAS EVANS *TROUBLED*

"Mom, are you sure you'll be fine without me? You still haven't found a new job." Lucas talking to his mother over the phone as he drove. She reassured him for the tenth time that she'd be fine, and that this was about helping him, not her. Hanging up, He pulled into the next available parking spot near the school. He was late, but he didn't care much. Grabbing his things, he headed into the school, and started searching for the auditorium. Upon finding it, he took a random seat, and tried not to nod off.

NICOLE BURKE *GIFTED*

"Oh crap, oh crap, oh crap." Nicole mumbled to herself as she practically ran from her car into the school, nearly forgetting her backpack. She found the auditorium in what must have been record time, and found a nice, secluded seat away from the other students. She mentally scolded herself for being late.

Myra paused and glanced at the boy brave enough to ask a lollipop from her. Myra took a quick glance at how the nerds sat like a robot waiting to be ordered by the headmaster, and deduced that this guy might be a Troubled just like her.

Myra did not answer him, but she opened a small pocket in her backpack and took out a lollipop. She zip back het pocket and extended her hand, handing it over to the boy.

Travis smirked as he extended his hand to take the gift. If he were a good boy, he'd probably say thanks. But good boy Travis died years ago. "So, you're troubled, I'm guessing. Any gifted would be able to spot me out." He stated. He stood up from his seat and moved a little down 'til he was sitting next to her. Trav carefully unwrapped the lollipop wrapper before throwing it on the floor.

He brought the candy up to his lips and sucked on it nosily. "So, tell me about yourself." He said, acting as if this was all normal and they weren't sitting in an auditorium awaiting the dean to arrive. Besides, if she really was troubled, he'd have to get to know her.

"As i thought, a Troubled." Myra grinned. It's nice to know that one of the Troubled is friendly like this, most of the time everyone (including her) act cool by being alone like a lone wolf. "What are you? A psychologist? Before i tell you about my self, you should tell me about your self first."

Alex opened the throttle of his Harley Dyn Wide Glider. The bike roared down the road. He had bought the bike once he had passed his test. It was his beauty he had poured his whole soul into it.

He slowed down once he came to the crappy school. He pulled into the car park and removed his helmet. The engine was still running as he pulled off his leathers. He then took the keys from the ignition and grabbed his skate board which was resting on a saddle bag. He dropped the skate board and jumped onto it making his way towards the doors. He skated in ,not caring about the teachers, and straight towards the assembly. As he entered he ran a hand through his hair and hopped off the board.

He swaggered towards the back row and took a seat at the edge. He slumped in his chair put the skate board under the seat.

Travis, the smirk still on his face despite having a lollipop in his mouth, shook his head. "Where's the fun in that? Besides, I asked you first." He replied coolly. He glanced at the sound of the opening doors, seeing a skateboard and instantly knowing that whoever just came in, was troubled. "But if you really want to know something, my name's Tristan." He replied. The words rolled off his tongue as he showed trace of distrust. "Now, I told you something, so you tell me." His eyebrow raised, daring the other girl to continue.

Another Troubled walked into the room and sat in the back row. Seems like the back row now is reserved for the Troubled students. That's fine, as long as Myra could get out of this room as soon as the assembly ended.

She glanced at Travis, the boy he just met. He started to piss her off with his smart talk, but Myra decided to be patient.

"You never heard of the rumored Russian Gangster? That's my most famous nickname, occasionally people would also call me Spetsnaz as well." Myra bite her lollipop, pulling out the lollipop's stick and take her time crunching it down. "Name's Myra."

Lucas stirred in his sleep, his eyes cracking open as he noticed someone had taken a seat beside him. He looked down at the other teen's feet, seeing a skateboard under their chair. A gifted kid wouldn't be caught dead doing something like bringing a board to school. He turned his head to look at him.

"So, what are you here for?" he asked.

He turned to the other boy. "Stuff" he grunted. He crossed his legs and arms waiting for the assembly to start. He yawned slightly "What about you?" he asked a little more talkatively. Alex really wanted to talk and joke around but he wanted to set an air of cool and maturity.

"Same." Lucas joked. "But it was all justified, just not in the law's eyes, if you know what I mean." He reached into his backpack, taking out a flask and a automotive magazine. Shrugging, he added, "Might as well do something if we're gonna be waiting forever."

Alex laughed "Might go for a smoke if they don't hurry up" he said grinning. Alex was really tempted to take his packet of Redwood Original and just light it in the auditorium but he would get in really deep trouble for that so he decided not to although he reckoned he could sneak out for a quick smoke.

"Don't smoke myself, but I could use some fresh air if you wanna try to sneak outside for a few minutes." Lucas offered. The whole idea of having to go to this school wasn't that appealing, but it helped to get to know people. Maybe with a couple of other 'troubled people' to hang around, he won't be as bored.

Headmaster

Staring down at the children , he formed a thin smile , shuffling his papers he gestured for them to pay attention "Welcome students to Redwood. Some of you are here because you need a second chance and others are here for the deal." Taking a second to look at each and every student , he assessed them in his mind. "Most of the time you will spend here will be together , but of course if you don't fit in you will be by yourself and then expelled. This is a one time offer , so don't ruin it. Whoever is your dorm partner , will be your tutor." He nodded at the gifted students primly , "Those of you who are troubled , you will be monitored closely and if there is a constant disturbance from you. We will expel you." The headmaster knew if this went wrong the governors would pull their funding and shut him down , be proceeded to read information about the whereabouts of the classrooms and the teachers. "Finally the rules , I suggest you pay close attention. Rule One , Smoking and alcohol is prohibited. Rule Two , violence is prohibited Rule Three , you must attend class and do whatever work you have been given. Rule Four , any cats and dogs are not aloud inside the school building and only in the dorm if your dorm partner consents. Rule Five , all troubled students must get above a C to pass and the gifted must help them achieve that and get above a B to pass. You will be in this school for 6 months . You can drop out anytime." Finally after giving the students one last hard stare he nodded at them curtly to leave "I suggest you go to your dorms and unpack. Goodbye students."

"Sure" he said. "I think there is a fire escape door across from us, we can sneak out" but just as he said it the Headmaster walked in. Alex sighed and slumped in his chair once again. He was really bored and wanted to do nothing better than smack the teacher across the face with his skateboard but instead he stayed silent and listened to what he had to say.

Celia Hansen

Celia hobbled down the road, her future only a few steps away. Sneaking out of the house had been one thing, but having to catch three consecutive buses with only a few minutes to sleep in between had been another; she'd never been able to sleep on moving vehicles her whole life, and even extreme exhaustion wouldn't allow her a wink of shut eye on the buses. But it all paid off in the end, she thought to herself as she neared the large glass doors of Redwood Academy. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and she'd d anything to get away from her parents.

As if on cue, her phone rang once again, just about the 50th call she'd gotten from her enraged guardians--and for the 50th time, she exasperatedly thumbed the Decline button. Turning her phone to mute, she dragged her wheeled suitcase, duffle bag, and cat carrier into the looming building, a smile finding its way on to her face. The next 6 months would be a wild adventure for her, having never stepped out of her parents' sight before, and she'd be sure to revel in every moment of her new found freedom.

Pulling out her acceptance letter, Celia reread the instructions, squinting at the very end.

PS: All animals must be kept in the stables or dorm rooms at all times.

Stables? she thought, rubbing her eyes as if she'd read the small print wrong. Like, horse stables? With a shrug, she spotted a door labelled 'Stables' and wheeled her luggage over, just as Marla began to wake up from her day-long nap. Celia opened the door to the stables, and was greeted with a symphony of ferocious barks and growls. Cece jumped back, eyes wide as her duffle bag and beloved cat flew into the air and landed a few feet away. The door slammed shut by her feet, and Cece made a mental note never to enter the stables again. Once she'd regained her footing, she ran over to Marla, and sighed once she saw that all her Exotic Shorthair had suffered was just a little scare. Marla stared at Cece in distaste, licking her paw and rubbing her ear a few times before closing her eyes once again. "Grumpy old hag..." Celia grumbled, roughly retrieving her bags and Marla's carrier before walking over to the auditorium. I'm sure they won't mind Marla until I get to my dorm, right?

Cece nodded to herself, convinced that everything would be fine. At the foot of the auditorium doors, she repositioned her hat, pushed back her hair, and burst into the large room, just as the Headmaster finished speaking.

Although Travis did not like the sound of rules, he put up with it all and listened to the end. The only conclusion he got from all that was A. He got his own room, meaning he can do whatever he wants, and B. He's allowed to keep Redwood in his room since he has no dorm partner. Travis glanced over at the next person who entered the room, probably another troubled, and entered the back row. Because the Headmaster was done with his speech, Travis shot up, keen on getting to his dormitory and winding down a little (maybe smoking some of his stashed joint before he'd have to throw it out).

The word 'Expel' make Myra straighten her body and sat in the edge of her seat, listening. She cant afford to be expelled, this school is the only one who's willing to accept a girl like her in this town. She don't really mind the straight rules, hopefully her dorm partner is a yoga instructor or whatever that could help Myra with her short temper.

The Headmaster dismissed them, and Myra stood up and walked out of the room. She doesn't have much to bring to her new dorm room, but she want to arrive early to check out her new dorm room.
