Zahrah puffed up their cheeks, feeling pretty offended. Since when was showing concern about someone's well-being offensive? What kind of back-wards town had they arrived at? They couldn't help themselves from shouting a quick “Get well soon, sir!” as they were escorted out of the tent. That wasn't a problem though, the count wasn't worth their time. Silly water-sipping airhead couldn't discern good advise from bad stuff. No, no, their genius was wasted on a fool like that. They'd have to find someone better to accomplish their task of making everyone happy.

They looked around the scenery. There was lots of stuff and a lot of folk to see for sure. Just wandering around aimlessly showed that much. Some battle maids, a cooking show, two overly dressed man (seriously, didn't they fear the heat?) and a rather stunning lady that seemed to be acquainted to the foxy guy from before. Zahrah knew of neither cooking nor eating, so they could cross that one off the list. Besides, there was some terrifying looking rat creature there. If it wasn't for the fact that it was a really nicely dressed rat and that none of the guards seemed to care, Zahrah would've gone to call the guards on it.

After a bit of wandering and doubt, however, their attention finally got drawn in enough for them to approach something specific. Namely the clothing that Katriel was unboxing during her livestream talk with Dashi. With little regards for ceremony, they made their way into the group (the middle of it, if the others would let them, as they liked being at the centre of attention). “Hello again, mister with the gorgeous foxy fur!” They said to Dashi first, before turning to the others. “And nice to meet you, overly dressed gentleman and other overly dressed gentleman!” They greeted Peng and George. “And hello to you, miss slightly scary looking maid.” They greeted Claudia, before finally turning to the one who'd gotten their attention in the first place. “And hello you to you, stunning looking lady!” They addressed Katriel with a big smile.

“I'm sorry for barging in here, but that silly count doesn't seem to appreciate my knowledge, so I figured I'd see if my skills could be of use instead~ I may just be a beginner at seaming, but I'm pretty sure I could flawlessly get some of that really high quality looking stuff to be made to fit for the people here with a few adjustments! Then again, even if that isn't needed, I'd like to stick around a bit~ You seem like a fun bunch, after all! I am curious why you'd dress so heavily in this weather though! If you want, I can fix you up with something a lot more fresh and airy! There's no need to worry about showing some skin! After all, confidence about one's body is one important key to success and happiness! Then again, if wearing a lot of clothes makes you happy, who am I to judge? I kinda fits you, mister white-clothed sir, I like the mystery sage aesthetic. Then again, perhaps you'd also look great without being overly dressed, like the lady here.” They said, clearly talking about Katriel. “Oh, by the way, have you guys seen the food over there? There's this giant rat maid and this weird chef going haywire, but it seems to make folks happy so it's pretty great! Anyway, what were we talking about?”

After a bit of a pause, they suddenly remembered this was supposed to be their introduction into the group. “Aha! My apologies! I'm Zahrah Fiore! I'm a beginning seamstress and I bet I'm the plushiest person around! Well, I'm not sure how relevant the latter is, but after looking at everyone being so unique, I feel like I should mention that to not stand out for just being plain, you know? That's always a weird feeling! Oh, come to think of it, that's the type of feeling that'd make folks unhappy, which is bad, so let me know if you feel like you stand out in a bad way and I'll try to fix it! I like making folks happy, after all! Then again, you guys look like all of you have your things well-arranged here!”

Retili was stunned quietly at the question of the girl/boy/thing with pink hair. It was not an uncommon question, but it was not one commonly voiced. Few had seen Zentail true. Not many would have commented on their appearance however. Nonetheless Retili showed formulated a gracious albeit slightly irritated smile. He would have responded had Linneus not taken to the moment immediately. Retili returned his attention to the count as the swordsman stepped forward and the youth was removed with a parting word. "There is no need for apologies my Lord, no offense has been taken. Youth is a curious time for us all." His smile returned to the warm one he had before as the count requested to see some of his work. " Your interest in my work humbles me my lord. I have traveled from the Northern mountains across the continent from where my tribe resides my Lord. Though perhaps I could save any tales of my travels for later? I would like to show you some examples of my work first." Reaching into his satchel, Retili withdrew an example legal document and example letter. (Made using Academia F). He passed them over to the count. "I will not fool you, I am still learning the art, but this should be enough to allow you to make an accurate judgement. I hope you find them agreeable." He withheld handing over his journal. No need to show something so personal to a stranger.

Linneus Light

Linneus let out a soft sigh, feeling embarrassed by the strange girl and even worse for having had someone been insulted by her. He glanced back to see where she departed to, spotting her with Dashi and the Pendragon Baroness. The number of leaders in the village continued to climb and with that so did the risk of trouble. The Count spared one panicked glance around the square and spotted Tyrmar not too far, but occupied....cooking? He wasn't aware that the man was a capable chef or that he had intended to feed the struggling people here. "How admirable." It was the type of behavior he believed all heroes should display, but knew that it was rare to find people willing to do such without a reward being involved.

His attention returned to Retili and he was glad to hear that the man was not as bothered, although that was only what he told Linneus. The young noble took the documents in hand and sat down in the only chair available. As he read along, While he read, his head bobbed in understanding and approval. "For a beginner, your work is very comprehensive." He began a new document, this time only skimming through the words. "So detailed." It was clear that Retili understands the workings of the world and is capable of transcribing his experiences onto paper. A smile graced his features as Linneus rose from the seat and reached across the table to pass the work back to Retili. "I am impressed, Mr. Loxinofican, but I would like to know more about you before we get anything written in stone. Where are you from, where are you going? What are you goals?"

Retili was pleased to hear that his documents were well received by the count. He collected the documents and put them back in their place in his cloak. "Your words flatter me my lord." The count was still curious despite Retili's deflections about his travels, so he decided to relent. "Well Lord, I come from the northern mountains as I said. My people live in caves there and keep to ourselves mostly. I am told that my leaving to go and explore the world is a rare exception for my kind. Only two others had left my tribe before me. I came south and have made my way through different villages and cities while working as a scribe." He contemplated a moment the second question as he spoke. "Where I am going? I have no particular destination in mind. I intend to explore until I find a noble court to hone my talents. I wish to be a great diplomat one day, but that requires the connections and networks that only a noble court could bring."

Claudia Nachtnebel

"Very good, my Lord. I will do my best." Claudia responded, turning in the direction of the caravan's personnel working. She noted their tempo a bit too adagio for her liking.
Her attention returned to her master at his request.

"Of course..." Claudia quickly slung her rifle onto her back and exchanging the documents and tote with Master Dashi's pipe and tobacco in her fieldbag.
With a remarkable expertise, the maid went to work. A twice through with a cleaner before removing the corked lid of a small glass container. Claudia packed the tobacco slightly dense, as Dashi liked to protract his smoking into more of an accessory than for just the effects of it.
Slingling the field bag, now closed, over one shoulder, she presented him the pipe and lit it for him once he had it. She then disposed of the match in the baroness' direction, though you would be hard pressed to prove it was on purpose.

"Oh, my Lady." Claudia curtsied in kind. "I hadn't noticed your approach." she said, unconcerned with how believable that may be.
She didn't return the smile however. Though, this was of no consequence, Claudia wasn't known for her pleasant demeanor.
She positioned herself next to Dashi, facing Katriel, before remaking eye contact with her.
"I thank you for your concern but fret not, your Grace. For I am not so easily overwhelmed." her words carried a drop of venom, though not concentrated enough to kill or injure.
In reality, it wasn't Katriel she was irritated by, not really. Claudia was well acquainted with the concept of serving people she has no affinity for with a pretense of respect.
Really, the source of her vexation was the one that Katriel had in tow.
"Loathesome creature..." she thought, as Superbia was tasked out, not granting even a glance in her direction throughout the interaction.

The maid felt the need for dialogue on her part over and done with. So she settled into her usual role; stoic and ever-vigilant companion of the recently invested Baron Dashi.

Count Linneus Light

The world seemed to be sending Linneus a message and he was eager to receive it. First Regula had come seeking assistance in her pursuit of nobility, although she was only a blacksmith Now Retili, a foreigner in almost every sense of the word sought to become a diplomat; a goal that Linneus found very admirable considering his people were so isolated and he was only a scribe. And how could he forget Dashi, who was a hero and now a noble. It seemed the gods were inspiring people to follow their dreams and reach for that which society would normal deny them. Linneus was one of those people at one point in time.

"I see no reason to send you back out into the world, searching for a court to belong to. You are an intelligent and talented scribe, so I would like to offer you a position in my court. Sol County is undergoing changes everyday now and, Osun, the capital is busier than ever now. To have someone record our progress, honestly of course, and chronicle our days would be perfect." Linneus approached Retili and extended his arm out to shake the man's hand. "The position is yours if you truly want it." The genuine smile that stretched across the count's face beamed with joy and excitement. So many times he had doubted himself and wondered if becoming a noble was the right choice, but being here and meeting these people made him start to think differently.

Retili was well and truly humbled by the offer. It seemed that fate had brought him to both the perfect place and time to achieve one of his goals. His work to become a scribe had set him on a path that would hopefully lead to his end goal. Retili bowed deeply before the Count before straightening and taking his hand, shaking firmly, a grin once again crossing his features. "My Lord your generosity humbles this Zentail. I would be a fool to decline such an offer. I would be delighted to accept." He released the count's hand and stood back. "It will be an honor to record the days of the County of Sol. In the meantime, is there anything I could take care of for you my lord?"

Linneus Light

Linneus couldn't stop smiling. He had just made his first official appointment to his court and not only was it someone he found pleasant, but it was also for a position he had some interest in. "If you will make a list of anything that you require, I will see it obtained for you. Whether it be related to your work or your personal needs. Back in the capital there is plenty of space for you in my castle, so you needn't worry about living arrangements. Unless you'd prefer to reside somewhere else." While he could understand some people not wanting to remain at the castle which was more often than not busy with the coming and going of visitors, Linneus assumed it would be simpler than trying to hunt for a home elsewhere.

"Other than that, you are free to enjoy the scenery here, help out the others as they rebuild. Your first day as a Court Scribe begins tomorrow so take the time to relax today." In the background, Linneus' advisor rolled their eyes, annoyed by the Count's overeager personality and grin. "Do you have any question for me?"

Retili listened and nodded his head in response to the count. It would make the most sense logistically for him to reside in the castle. That way if any need arose for him he could be quickly summoned to Linneus. "It would be my privilege to reside in the castle my Lord. I will procure a list of items necessary. I have no questions so I will take my leave of you for now." He stepped back and bowed to the count a final time. "Thank you again my Lord, I will do my utmost to make the most of this opportunity." With that he turned and left the gazebo, pulling up the hood of the cloak and veil. He wondered at the expression on the advisor's face as he did so. Did the man not know his count? Overeager or not to hire a court scribe, Retili felt that all of the necessary decorum had been followed.

With a quick glance around he took in all the goings on, but he had little desire to approach and get involved. Instead he made his way to the edge of the village, picking out a spot under a tree that had not been burnt. He carefully sat down under the shade of the tree, taking a moment to relax. After the moment had passed he reached into his cloak and withdrew a notebook, pen, and ink. Setting the ink beside him and uncapping the well, he dipped his pen into it and began to write. It was not uncommon for him to take a moment to write after such an interesting encounter. He detailed the event and those he had met, making sure to note down names as well as a short description where he could.

(Sorry for the short post, It was fuller before RPN decided to eat it and I had to redo it.)

As Dashi walked, his cane casually tapping on the ground with each step, he listened intently to Peng. Finding himself nodding along, becoming increasingly impressed with this man perceptions. After a few moments, he held out his hand to Claudia, having known her long enough to be familiar with how long it took her to ready his pipe. And as expected, he felt the stem placed in his fingertips. He brought it to his lips and lightly drew upon it to test the embers and flow of air. Everything was to his satisfaction, as expected.

Dante Verren Dante Verren
After a moment of letting the aromatic smoke wash away the taste of travel dust from his mouth, he exhaled and spoke, "You are a very astute individual, Master Peng. I daresay that much of your conclusions mirror my own thoughts and experiences on the matter. And what differences I might have pointed out could easily be placed into one of those three categories you presented." He said with a growing smile in his lips.

"Much of that is why the Adventurers Guild is based in the Capital city. With such a strong onus on leadership to provide those three fundamentals, any smaller village is hard pressed to compete. But of course, there are exceptions. I've known many heroes who have settled down with kindly farm girl, or have made themselves protector of one town for no other reason than they were needed. But the generalities still apply. They found something there that called to them."

"That leaves us in a pretty pickle, doesn't it. From the outside looking in, our County isn't much to speak of. We haven't a burgeoning economy or a large and unified population. Likely barely worth the notice of many. And even my own Barony is tainted by the misdeeds of my predecessors. Hardly worth loyalty, if you ask me. Hohoho, much to fix. We have much to fix."

Dashi thought for a moment. Tappong the stem of his pipe against his chin, "I do believe we are about to see a rise of heroes and villains the likes of which we haven't seen since the last age. I can feel it on the wind, Master Peng. We have our work cut out for us, if we wish to be ready in time."

Develius Develius

"Hehehe, well if you are that interested my hairy friend, you are welcome to join me at Morbella. Perhaps I can see you have a few contracts that you could get a head start on. Should you help me clean up my Barony, I would be more inclined to see you given an official Law title. Maybe even more, hohoho."

"But for now, Master Baker, you job is a much more simple one. Help see the supplies unloaded and stay handy should any rabblerousers want to cause any trouble. You will be operating under Master Pengs direction, and once the carts are empty, you will get your pay."

As his newly wedded wife approached, Dashi provided her with a bright smile, "My dear Katriel, waxing poetic is much better than a waning prose. For just as with silks and embroidery, words are so much more fun to bear witness to when given a bit of color." He gave a hearty chuckle, and took her hand in his to give the back of her hand a gentle kiss of greeting.

Dashi was under no delusions of the nature of their relationship. A marriage though it was, it was still arranged. And while they were both mature enough to understand the situation, Dashi was respectful enough to offer the space for to adjust to this change. And refrained from any advances that were too personal. These were waters best tested before leaping into head first.

"Yes, we were waiting to unload in case the Count had any specific instructions for our donations. We procurred Master Baker here for assistance as well. Should come in handy, I'll say. But the poor Count was being bombarded with guests, so I decided to take my leave to spare him at least a little of my poetic waxings."

Dashi could not help but chuckle as she mentioned the maids. "And my legs, don't forget my legs." He lifted and shook his cane, "Thats why I brought my maid beating stick to keep them off. I'm not so used to these young bones that I wouldn't trust myself not to trip and break my neck. Ohoho, but in seriousness I have sent them to help alleviate the townsfolk a bit until I needed them. Which should be now."

Dashi cleared his throat and gestured to his attendant with his pipe, "Claudia, would you be a dear and summon the maids? I'm sure you will be able to make good use of them in helping prepare some of this food. I trust you will no just what to prepare to raise some of the spirits here. The rest of the food and supplies we will see go to storage."

Dashi turned his attention back to his wife, "This will be a much needed relief to these townsfolk." Dashi assured. "From what it sounds, what wasn't destroyed by the demons was looted by mercenaries. It will be much needed indeed. And I do hope we get to see some of the children's smiles before we leave, goodness knows they have been through enough."

And speaking of children, "And hello to you too, Mrs. Siesta." Dashi said with a cheerful old smile.

"Do pay the count no mind, we nobles are a stuffy lot. Ohohoho, but we tend to have good reason to be. If tailoring is your strong suit, then it is my wife here that you will want to talk to." He gestured his pipe toward Katriel to direct the girl in the right direction.

"I suppose you are right, though if we were getting paid by the letter, we could just buy Redcliffe" She teased with a laugh that sounded like jingling bells on a cold wintery night; it was warm and gave Dashi a glimpse of a kinder woman behind the baroness and businesswoman. She extended her hand, and only sucked in a sharp air of breath when she felt those whiskers again. They weren't unpleasant, but it was something she needed to get used to. She certainly didn't mind the attention he gave her, she had expected to catch some ploy of betrayal and overtaking of her well being, but he was set on the revival of the pendragon estate, reputation, and barony itself. She only ever tried to distance herself from her name, finding passion in clothes(and the money it made), but he was doing his hardest to make a difference.

She needed to do the same, in her own way.

It would take her time to feel comfortable in an arranged marriage again, after what her father had done-

"
The poor man, suddenly afloat with willing hands hmm? I can't say I know much about him other than the recent happenings in Sol with this..." Her eyes scanning the condition of the town, knowing the last thing such folk needed was any of her condescension. She supposed she would have to curb any of her prejudices if she really wanted to put forth an effort here and help, though manual labor was simply out of the question. She was no Jesus of Nazareth. "Well you better stay close to me, I so graciously put Superbia to work aiding in whatever the villagers need. She needs more experience in areas that aren't barbaric. I figure anyone who can survive a disaster like this can impart something useful, though if she picks up any hick slang I will be furious" She huffed, propping her gloved hands on her hips, Dashi revalling that she only ever took them off when she slept. An inquiry on their wedding night was met with a surprisingly simple answer, She'd never risk harm to her 'money makers'. She shot him a side glance of piercing intent for his 'maid beating stick' quip, but otherwise let it go with only a mock sense of surprise. "They are very well trained, and I've certainly never felt more safe with axe wielding maids!" Dammit, she was being a sarcastic bitch again.
"I just...they could...nevermind that" That was a conversation best saved for home.

"I wish all our maids were like you, dearest Claudia" It was not often she meant every word she spoke, at least all at once, but she did really find Claudia an irreplaceable asset. She was quite literally the whole package. She didn't judge the lack of respect behind her well mannered behavior, she took her job seriously and that was all that mattered in The Baroness' eyes. Business and respect were not so mutually exclusive as Hollywood movies had once lead her to believe. She would give her whole barony for a copy of Miami connection. "Though I noticed you've yet to get back to me about modeling some dresses for me, you're figure is ezquisite-"

Develius Develius Elvario Elvario
She could hardly believe the turnout of this occasion as this group continued to grow, the man she had addressed early speaking up to her at the same time as a strange pink haired child barged into the conversation. Katriel processing the ranting of the small one and addressing it after identifying the marble mouth juggling accent that was just blasted at her again. It was simply an accent she never heard before "Of course Mr. Baker. I take no offense to the allies my husband keeps, only the ones that keep him" She snipped, icy air seething from her words like a quiet whip. "If you can help stamp out the crime that still persists in our homeland then I will simply need to make you a uniform proper. It will cost you, but I can garnish wages as needed. I look forward to seeing your results. now-" She held her hands together in a spear shape, pointing it from 'George' to Zahrah

"
Stunning? you certainly know how to curry favor for one so young, and simply adorable!" She said, kneeling in a rare show of adoration as she fawned over this cutiepie for a moment before returning to her a full stand. "She's right you know, this dress is breathable but would challenge any belle of the ball, unless she were me of course~. You are just a delight. If you are indeed interested in putting your talents to use; My boutique could always use a beautiful little seamstress." Katriel said, her happiness causing her features to glow as she fawned over Zahrah more and squeed over their outfit and ribbons "Did you do these yourself??"

Peng watched with interest at Baker's reaction to the baroness It was obvious that he was flustered by how badly he tripped over his words, it even brought the ghost of a smile to Peng's lips. Not that anyone could see his smile due to the cloth that covered the lower have of his face. His gaze then turned to the beast maid Superbia as she walked off to accomplish her mistresses orders. Peng was no stranger to seeing beastkin in service rolls, after all he was from the eastern empire. What intersted him was why the Baroness had chosen to keep a ratkin as her servant. He knew they would be better in some situations then others, but as a combat maid? That peaked his interest. What abilities or benefits did it have to enlist a ratkin as a combat maid over other beastkin, it was something he would have to investigate.

Peng toned out the interaction between Baron and Baroness, instead reflecting on Dashi's words. An age of change, hero's, and villains'. It was exactly what Peng was hoping for. If he was going to completed his ultimate goal then he would need to either become one of these new great figures, or enlist the aid of them. Preferably the hero's of course, but even then the villain's would still have a similar end result. For now this place seemed like the best case scenario, the Baron was an impressive man. He had enough unique figures around him that supporting him would likely lead to Peng's next step. A good first start.

Peng was torn from his thoughts with the arrival of the pink traveler, whose name would be revealed to be Zarah. He quickly glanced down at his outfit and furrowed his brow, he wasn't that overdressed. They were white flowing robes that rustled with any breeze, perfect for both covering one's body and for air flow. He also couldn't come up with a response to Zarah's own description of themselves, so he decided to pass on that one. Instead he looked them over and nodded slightly. A unique person for sure, but that meant they had potential. He would have to speak to them later, for now the Baroness was engrossed in fawning over them.

Turning away from them he looked to Mr.Baker and gave a nod. "Mr. Baker, please start with the middle section of the carts. That is where the bulk of the more important supplies are. " he gestured towards the section with his left hand. The maids were already working on the front carts anyways, might as well start on the next section to get a head start.

George kindly tipped his hat at the baroness' offer, "Much obliged, mam'." he thanked her proper, not wanting to bother her further. As much as he wanted to hear more of her icy breath rattle his hardened bones. he knew better not to get on her bad side by sheer annoyance. She had her business to take care of and he had his. They ought to see each other again judging by her promising response, but neither did he want to get his hopes up too high. Quickly he focused his gaze back to the foxy baron, who had more to say to him.

The cowboy's energy returned at the further promise of fame and fortune, a smile being vaguely seen underneath his scraggily beard. He already expressed his excitement for returning to the life of high-end gunfights and bounty snagging and it's only increasing from here on out. It was apparent that he was ready to get started.

Develius Develius

""But for now, Master Baker, you job is a much more simple one. Help see the supplies unloaded and stay handy should any rabblerousers want to cause any trouble. You will be operating under Master Pengs direction, and once the carts are empty, you will get your pay.""

George took a glance back at the soft-spoken Peng before tipping his hat at the Baron's request. "Consider it done, boss!" he confirmed with an affirming nod. All those high hopes and promises of action will have to wait for now, as he expected of course. After all, everyone's gotta start somewhere. Once dismissed, the cowboy now focused his attention on the second-hand. And as if right on queue, Peng would provide him with the first order of the day.

"Wiiiiiiill do!" George nodded with a thumbs up before making his way towards the cart in question. As he approached, he noted the numerous maids still working on the front carts, an unusual sight for him but nonetheless they simply did honest work. He took a glance around him before giving a loud whistle to anyone nearby. "Alright ya'll, listen up! Lets git these carts o' here unloaded and organized! We don't got all day, so git to it!"

Tyrmar
Waving off the man’s considerations with a wave and a thanks for enjoying his meals Tyrmar went back to observing the citizens and Oh boy that was a lot of new faces. From the looks of it another party of supplies had arrived and apparently brought with them a parade of colorful characters.

One of which happened to greet him and offer her assistance, for a moment Tyrmar was stunned as he’d not seen many Beastmen in Linneus’ territory, Aya being the greatest example. However seeing a fully humanesque beast person in front of him made him feel a sort of…whimsy?

He’d known he was in a new world since he first awoke and the Goblins had only reinforced that belief, but seeing an obviously fantasy like being before him made his eyes light up.

“Why of course I’ll take any assistance offered, that is if you think you’re up to the task of filling hungry stomachs?” He greeted her with a teasing grin and a visible eagerness assume gave her a once over and held back a whistle at her attire, a lot of work went into hiding her bearing as a warrior but for him he could tell easily. The way she walked, her straightforward gaze and how she seemed to approach him without fear of reprisal or nervousness were good tells to her nature.

Plus she was carrying a goddamn sickle and chain on her person openly, an amusing sight of nothing else.

“My name is Tyrmar, currently under the service of Count Light, it’s nice to meet you. Come! Throw on some gloves and a head wrap, your just in time for the sides!” Wiping his hands onto his apron Tyrmar quickly turned around and looked at the small cuts of salty joy he’d managed to bring to this world of myth.

It had been an odd request to the helping staff to ask for Potatoes to be added to his ingredients with seemingly nothing to pair them with, which is why he was so very proud of how his French fries came out after all the necessary preparation.

Suffice to say making French fries from scratch in the open with no oven or fryer had been a task but one he’d taken to with gusto, the hardest task was really only managing to heat up the oil to the required amount to cook the fries. Then it was simply a matter of slicing them quickly, smoothly and with some variation before layering them in a slight vinegar with salt and seasonings and tossing them into the makeshift fryer twice for a dual layer of crisp brown outside and soft tasty insides.

“Here try some of each, I made sure to prepare enough to feed this town twice over!”

Zahrah was proving to be ever so immensely popular. The scary maid almost ignored them out of existence. Then again, she was a scary maid, so perhaps that was for the better. Both of the overly dressed gentleman did the same. Were they that conscious about being so overly dressed? Had Zahrah been rude by asking? They weren't sure, but they were pretty disappointed they hadn't gotten an answer. It was tough to help people when you couldn't even get them to accept your existence, after all. They were wondering if they should just try again. Perhaps if they'd ask them face to face in the most literal way possible? Ah, perhaps later. For now, at least some folk actually replied to them, which was great~

The foxy baron talked to them, but had given them a weird nickname. Still, the baron at least knew how silly the count was being, it seemed. “Aha! If you're all stuffy, I'll gladly help you air out a little~ Surely the count will understand how brilliant siesta's are when complaints about heatstrokes start dropping and he'll notice how people work twice as hard in the cool afternoon breeze then in the blazing midday sun!” That said, Zahrah was paying close attention to that pipe. After all, that was something they never quite grasped. It clearly made people pretty happy to smoke, but it also made them pretty ill in the long run, which made them unhappy. Even as an A.I. that had been puzzling them, but seeing it like this, it was even more peculiar. Zahrah, having no breaks or boundaries, decided to just straight up ask about it. “Ah, mister fox, come to think of it, I've always wondered what the appeal is of inhaling smoke. I know it gives short-term pleasure, but the long-term consequences don't seem to outweigh it. If one makes up a balance, it simply doesn't seem to add up. Would you mind explaining it to me?” Were Dashi to care, he'd realise this was genuine interest and a desire to understand, not some manner of preaching.

That brought attention to the wife. “Curry favour?” Zahrah was a bit confused. “I'm merely addressing everyone by what seems most suitable, considering I don't know any names~” They were perfectly unaware that doing such was a way to curry favour. “Oh, that sounds fun~” They said, upon hearing the offer of boutique work. “Do you think that'll make people happy though? That's my primary objective, after all!” They said, but they instantly got distracted by the question regarding their clothing. “Ah, my mom made it for me, but she did shot me how to do so and I did add some of my own flairs to it~ My own conviction is that you've gotta look happy to make others happy, so I made sure that even my clothes look happy! Isn't that great?”

Superbia

While she listened to Tyrmar, it was clear that Superbia's mind was else where. Her gaze constantly shifted back to her mistress, watching the way she interacted with those around her. It was clear that the baroness felt differently about the other maids than she did about Superbia, but she wouldn't let that deter her from doing the best she could in her current position. But she was here to learn, possibly pick up some new skills to show off to her mistress and the other maids.

Her attention was drawn back to Tyrmar in full however when the man disclosed he was employed by the Count. She had not expected the Count to bring his own chef to serve the people of this village. That meant she was probably working a a renowned chef. Superbia hurried to put on her gloves and a hair net, getting in the mindset of a student and a cook. She wouldn't be able to find any better mentor certainly.

"My name is Superbira. I serve the Baroness Pendragon. And the Baron of course." Her hands went up as she secured the hair net around her head, tucking the stray strands in to prevent any type of contamination from occurring. "How many years have you been the chef to the Count? You must know many of his favorite dishes." If she could pick up some tips from this man, she may yet be able to wow her mistress and shame Claudia. Finally, Superbia sampled some of Tyrmar's cooking. She tried some of the fries and at first was unsure about the appearance and the shape, but couldn't deny that it was a fun and tasty treat. "I have never had this dish before. What do you call it?" She asked before taking another bite.

With his characteristic hohohoing he responded to Katriel with a chuckle, "Goodness no, dear. Why, if I keep on like this I could save up for Ryken within the hour."

Katriel was a real treat. Certainly of the more dour of women he had known upon first meeting. But he knew better than to judge by the traits on the surface alone. For by their fruits, you shall know them, as they say. It was easy to see how her upbringing had effected the way she had become. Yet it was as he suspected, even if she didn't always recognize, there was still a bit of sunshine left in that heart of hers. A slip of a smile, or joke in response to his. A slip of the tongue, he was sure, but a joke none the less. And even with the burden put upon her. Her back wasn't broken. Nor had kindness been stamped. For even in the financial straights their barony was in, she still saw fit to give a little extra for those who needed it.

While he recognized the sarcasm in her voice, he paid it no mind. "Of course they are well trained. I trained them all myself, you see. A fine way to pass the years. Ryke maybe better than most, but there is never a shortage of disasters to leave the vulnerable without shelter. And in a world like this, I reccomend anyone knowing how to defend themselves, wouldn't you?"

He turned his gaze to the working maids, the look in his eye regarding them like adopted daughters, "The axe maids are a fine bunch. A bit overzealous at times, but they always know how to direct it in a constructive manner. They are a sight to see at work. One time I watched them filet a rampaging mammoth before it even collapsed to the ground, and serve the meat medium well before the body was cold. Save for poor Erland, I don't think it agreed with him. Belma was a bit overzealous in the usage of onions, you see."

He chuckled to himself at the memory, poor Erland. He had her hide for that. Good times. Good times.

Dashi turned to watch Peng organize the efforts, and the cowboy too. "Ohoho, don't be afraid to get your own hands dirty, Master Baker. Only some of those supplies will lift themselves. Can't be letting the ladies do all the work." He said in quite the joyful manner.

Putting his pipe between his teeth once more, and it was the pink lass that directed her attention at him. "Hoho, thank you dear, but I prefer to wear that which my darling wife has made for me. Quite comfortable and easy to move in." He said as he lifted his arm to show her the sleeves of his robes.

"But you are quite right, it is very hot."

He cleared his throat and looked over at Claudia, "Do be a dear making something nice to drink with meal. Something to leave them properly refreshed." He noted.

"You see, though," he continued to Zahrah, "Townfolk come from a sturdier stock than nobles, as much as you may hear blue bloods decry the opposite. Regardless of the heat of the day, there is always work to be done. Field to be tended, roofs to thatch, water to be drawn, all manner of things. You won't always get your work done if you only do it when it is convenient. Sometimes you must buckle down and do what needs to be done. There is a time for everything, and with as much damage as has been done here, that time now is for work. I have been there much myself, and I'd wager these folk will tell you much the same. I just may throw my hat into the labor as well, too. Goodness knows I need the exercise. "

With a long draw on his pipe, he contemplated her inquiry regarding his use of tobacco. "That is an interesting question. I suppose the most simple answer would be it an innocent vice of mine. Though I haven't used it for stimulation in a few hundred years. For me, I quite enjoy the tastes and aromas of a finely cured tobacco. And appreciating the differences between the various locations they come from. It brings me a sense nostalgia from days long past. Helps me remember those who I had fought alongside, and shared that very same leaf with. And I would say that it has become a habit of focus. Keeps my hands from becoming too idle, too hohoho."

"I can tell you are new to this world, for you forgetting a detail that changes up everything from the world we once knew. A detail that flips the way we understand how the world works onto its head. Magic, my dear Zahrah. That detail is magic. There are very few consequences in this world that magic can not resolve. Things that science would have deemed impossible. A few rykes in my hand, and I would be able to visit any healer in the land for anything that ails me. Even the plant life of this world has absorbed enough ambient mana to have innately miraculous properties. "

He looked up at the sky and blew put a thin stream of smoke, "And that is only from the lens of healing. So much much more can be done with it. So during your stay here in this world, always keep magic in the back of your mind. It will save you many headaches in trying to make sense of the bizarre. "

Torrin Thorne, Advisor

"Look at you scribbling away." A voice sudden rose from the quiet that had surrounded Retili and along with that noise came the tall, lanky figure of a man. A familiar face from Linneus' gazebo and a familiar scowl. "Tell me, are all your people so brazen that they would approach a noble directly and inquire about work?" The disdain in the man's voice was undeniable and the expression on his face; furrowed brows, clenched jaw, and a fire in his eyes that spoke of a deeper issue. "I'm sure that in a week's time you will be running back to your little mountain cave." His grimace turned into a cocky smirk as he looked down at the foreign man. His hands slid out of the pockets of his robes, revealing arcane symbols tattooed upon the backs. "We don't need some dirt crawling, bug eater waltzing around the castle."

Retili quietly observed the goings on from a distance, his journal in hand. He looked at the journal entry he had just finished before reaching into his pack and withdrawing a second piece of paper, carefully blotting up the excess ink onto it before folding it up and setting it aside. It was short, most of his entries into the journal tended to be that way, but it held all the important details of the day so far. As he finished a man appeared seemingly from out of thin air. He was quite rude but Retili didn't let the words effect him visibly. "No matter where I go it amuses me to no end the insecurities of men." He did not look up as he removed a new piece of paper and closed the journal, using it as a backing as he wrote the list of materials that Linneus had requested. He didn't need to look up to know that the man held a disdain for him. It was clearly evident in his tone. "If his lordship should send me back then I see no reason to run when walking would suffice, it is a very long way after all. Besides I wouldn't be able to gather any bugs or crawl in the dirt if I did." He smiled bemusedly. Crawl in the dirt? Eat bugs? How hilarious. As if his people didn't live in homes or grow their food. This man clearly knew little of the Zentail. "A word of advice, whatever your name is." He paused as he finished the list and blotted it like the other page, before placing the quill, ink, journal, and blotted paper back into his pack and standing up. "If you intend to insult someone, at least know a little about them so that you can make it clever." He looked the man up and down for the first time before shaking his head. He didn't cut a very imposing figure, though Retili guessed that he was some sort of mage from the tattoos running the length of his hands. "Now, if you will excuse me I have to go deliver this list to his lordship."

Retili turned and walked past the man back down into the town. He didn't run, so he could be easily followed if he so wished. He made his way back to Linneus, bowing as he entered the gazebo once again. "I beg your pardon my lord, I have returned earlier then I expected, but I found myself making the list of materials you requested from me." He straightened and placed the list on the table within easy reach of Linneus. "Though I have a question if you would not mind. Your advisor from earlier, the man with the blonde hair and tattoos upon his hands, what was his name? I found myself in conversation with him just a moment ago and I am sad to say no introductions were made." Retili would ask the question regardless of whether the man had entered the gazebo with them again.

Claudia Nachtnebel

"As you wish..." Claudia responded, performing a curtsy to take her leave.
She split from Dashi's side and made her way over to the caravans.
From her apron pocket the maid pulled a Bosun's call.
With it she made a specific call, rallying the other maids to her.

The five of them fell in line around her as they moved to the caravans.
Upon reaching the front of the convoy, Claudia turned to face them.
"We have been tasked to prepare and serve a feast for the peasantry in addition to the peers of the realm; to include our Lord, Baron Dashi."

Claudia eyed her confréres, assigning them each a task and role, and then a further task and role once the former was completed. Six maids was hardly a force large enough for properly staffing a banquet of this size. But, they could make due.

"Samatha, you will secure the spice and produce. We will need; salt, black peppercorn, cloves, saunders, safrons, fennel, parsley, onions, potatoe, cayenne, tea leaves, lemon and red wine vinegar. Take from the caravans first, then source from the township. Solana will aid you."

She dismissed the junior maids tout de suite and moved on to the next.

"Aria, Bisera, your task will be to secure cookware and accoutrements. Summon up the largest cauldron this hamlet has to offer, a pit, a spit, and whatever pots, pans and bowls you can muster. Collect stale bred for trenchers and an assortment of knives and spoons for those too hapless or unable to bring their own."

They were sent off like the first pair.

"Cassandra..." Claudia started. This maid was exceptionally green, not yet having the collected temperment of the others. But her countenance showed an eagerness to work and that is commendable in its own right.
"You will accompany me. Our assignment will be the meat and livestock. The menu will consist of mutton, pork and beef. We will likely need four, two and one heads of each, respectively."

She stepped off with purpose, the neophyte in tow, to gather the animals.

Katriel couldn't argue with her husband's logic, and while more often than not that only succeeded in irritating her, the concept of learning some self defense move didn't seem entirely worthless. Her eyes shifting over toward Superbia, adorning a hairnet, and obvious in her diligence to do better. Katriel was hardly perfect, and didn't see the reasoning in her drive to learn what is already being conducted around the estate. The first time she had seen that strange weapon of hers in action, and how elegantly she handled it, she simply believed Superbia conducted her maidly affairs differently, and that there shouldn't be petty competitions, though it was better than dull animosity she supposed.

"What am I going to do with you" She said with a click of her tongue, turning her attention back to Dashi and Zahrah

"I do suppose you have we a fine staff thanks to your scrutiny" She said, quirking an eyebrow before scoffing "scrutiny on their assets I'm sure" She said, crossing her arms. She still listened to his explanation of magic all the while reeling about his preference to the attire she admittedly made out of bitterness of the marriage in the first place. She supposed she was glad a little anger made her needlework smoother.

"Magic is quite fascinating isn't it? A limitless potential for those with a knack for it, though I'd prefer to buy it than learn it" She said, beaming at Zahrah once more. "Didn't your mother show you? look at the dress she made! It makes me incredibly happy doesn't it? I see all the love that went into it's design, and the love that you put into the continued details, though I'd say a cross stitch like that one is a little gauche, but Comme ci, comme ça" she said, looking over the dress with a keen eye

"We are of the same mind then, I believe everyone should look their most
beautiful, I mean who wants their funeral to be the only time they were ever well dressed? I also believe if you are good at something, you shouldn't do it for free- Oh! Speaking of which, I should meet The Count. It'd be rude of me to gallivant around otherwise" She said with a laugh "Come with me dearest, we have much to discuss" She said, grabbing Zahrah by the hand and heading toward Linneus' tent.

"A beautiful day for business indeed"

Although Zahrah would gladly get a peddle to slap some dust out of Dashi, the offer to air out nobles was suddenly changed into the topic of apparel. Then again, not everyone was a plush golem, so perhaps foxy fur wasn't as easy to make less stuffy? Either way, it was the next topic that was a whole lot more interesting. Well, the second next part. The whole part about townfolk was something that annoyed Zahrah greatly. They knew it was wrong, no matter how sturdy or hard-working you were, changing times to better accommodate the limits of the Humanoid body was always beneficial. However, they didn't have their databases to back them up. How did one prove something without direct internet or database access? This was weird. Was it okay to just make stuff up like Dashi was doing? It felt pretty wrong, but Zahrah wasn't sure what the alternative was.

Then again, was the next part that baffled Zahrah the most. Audibly so, as they gasped. “Oh, my! Healing? That does indeed pose a very unpredictable variable in all my earlier hypotheses!” It was quite shocking for them to have such a large gap of information on a subject so relevant. “Are you really a few hundred years old? I wouldn't give you a day past thirty, with such a nice shine to your fur and all~” Zahrah wasn't sure how fox-folk aged, having never met one before, but hundreds of years felt extraordinary old. “Well, thank you for your lesson, mister fox, I've realised I should check a lot of my hypothesis in this new place!”

As Zahrah listened to Katriel, they realised something frightening. Their language modules! They were no longer capable of speaking pretty much every language ever put on the web, but instead had to rely on... just what they knew? This was odd. “I'm sorry, miss, I'm not sure what gauche is or where I'm supposed to comme.” Then again, overall, the vibe was good. “I'm glad it makes you happy though! It makes me happy too!”

Zahrah looked back to wave at the fox and his companions, as they were dragged after Katriel. “It's fun to be beautiful yes! Although, if people can't afford it, then they won't be happy, so wouldn't it really never be good to do for free?” That was one thing that bothered them a bit. As they neared the tent, Zahrah also remembered the other thing. “Ah, I don't think the Count will happy to see me. He doesn't understand logic well, so he kicked me out after I asked someone that looked sickly if they were okay. Can you image? Isn't it a lot more rude to just assume someone is okay even though they might be dying? Then you won't even know if you should help them!”

The sound of whistle was a meaning that all of the maids had ingrained into them. The call to its source was an important one, with no excuses for being tardy. With a haste just short of being unladylike, the five hurried to stand before Claudia in a straight line.

Claudia would be happy to see they were spaced evenly apart. An acceptable foot from hem of one dress to the hem of another. Lined up at attention with their hands folded neatly im front of them. Save for Cassandra, who was only moments behind the folding of hands due to her straightens her blouse.

Without word, they awaited to be addressed by their superior. As Claudia called out their name and gave her orders, each one would nod to show they understood their order. And when she had finished speaking, they responded with a uniform "Yes, Miss Claudia." And bowed their heads.

Each pair immediately took off once Claudia dismissed them with her first step away. With again Cassandra being a a few split seconds behind before she quickly leaped after Claudia and followed at her heels.

Samantha and Solana walked together, with Samantha slightly ahead due to taking the lead in the task due to her seniority. But they made their steps in tandem.

The two walked to find the overseer. With which they would stop and both give a bow from the waist. "Master Peng." Said Samantha. "Miss Claudia has request we procure some spices for the Lord Dashi's request for the meal. Would you please direct us to where they would have been stored?" Her voice was soft and gentle, with a respectful smile that touched her eyes.

The second pair, werr the two redheads, Aria and Bisera. With as much softness and grace as the first pair, the two made their way to largest gathering of peasantry. Aria nodded and it was Bisera that spoke.

"Our Lord, Baron Dashi is wishing to provide everyone with a grand meal that come. But I fear we will be in need of a few things. Cookware and accoutrements. We will need your feastday cauldron and a cooking spit. As well as any pots and pans that can be provided. Bowls too. Extra eating utensils for those that do not have any would be appreciated. As, if any household have any stale bread, we would be able to provide trenchers for the meal. Lastly, we will need a large fire pit for us to begin."

Aria and Bisera made deep bows to the people, and Aria spoke this time, "If some of you may spread the word to other households, that would be greatly helpful. We will try to provide you with best experience we are able."

Cassandra, hot on the heels of Claudia, was quite eager at the honor of serving with Claudia directly. "We have the livestock, Miss Claudia. I believe they are at the back of the wagons. Should we get with Master Peng before we remove them from the inventory?" She asked. "I can see them properly hung and butchered, if you wish to spare your dress the stains."

George paused for a moment, looking at the baron, then at the cart, then at the baron, and then back at the cart. He initially thought by overseeing, meant that he was to give out orders and not to necessarily partake in the events itself. He gave a sheepish chuckle, at least enough to be given underneath all of his clothing. "Oh hot diggity darn, where's be mah manners!" he exclaimed, tapping his noggin as if he was a dummy. Taking a moment to light a cigarette, he waltzed over to the middle cart and proceeded to begin unloading; starting with a medium-sized crate. Jebidiah had to be careful now; would be a shame to have an arm come loose if he wasn't careful with what he was carrying.

Though he wondered... what did the Baron mean that some supplies would "lift themselves"? Were there mimics in these 'ere carts?

The Count looked up from the city map to see that Retili had returned and not Torrin. Not that he was complaining. "That was quick." Linneus smiled as he took the parchment in hand and sat down to read it over. However before he could, Retili asked him about his advisor. "That is Torrin. He is the brother to the Thorne Baroness. It's not like him to forgo an introduction; he's very by the book you see." Linneus glanced out to where Torrin stood and saw the man pacing back and forth. "So of course he thinks I am too laxed in all things." He then waved the list of materials briefly and nodded his head with a smile. "I'll make sure these things are acquired before we return to Osun."

Aria and Bisera would find that luck was on their side as the people were eager to assist. After having eaten Tyrmar's beautiful brunch, they couldn't wait to have a filling dinner. Right away the older woman rushed home to grab some of their cast iron pots and pans. An orphanage would offer up their cauldron. The oversized pot was rolled over by a woman who was equally large and equally hungry. "Will this do?" She asked with a rather thick accent that showed she was not from the region, or Ryke at all.
