Deathkitten
I am the Deathkitten! Fear me!
Static filled the air in a near tangible cloud as the storm crashed above the sea. The water was angry, full of foamy peaks and churned up valleys. There was an argument in the distance that sounded like roaring claps of thunder, lightning marking the end of each frustrated sentence. Another person, one that was not part of these arguments, was a woman of incredible beauty with piercing grey-blue eyes and long ringletted black hair down to her waist that contrasted nicely with her white robes. She looked on at the sea and the arguing voices from the edge of a cliff. In her hand, she held a bright gold glowing ball no larger than a tear. Her eyes had a mournful tinge to them, gazing at the orb that shimmered back at her. She knew what needed to be done, and so did many of the others, despite their insistence otherwise. They did not like this solution.
She dropped the orb and watched it fall in a sort of slow-motion into the water. The amount of bloodshed, tears, years that went into this... it pained her to think of it.
NO! boomed a little too far off to stop what was happening. The ball of gold material touched the water and sent out a shockwave of shimmery, golden pain. It created a bubble that flew outward from the epicenter. Every person it touched vanished as though it were an atomic bomb. As she was so close to it, the woman was the first to go, and as she went, she knew that the divine would rise once more... in time.
Decades, nay, thousands of years passed.
Humans rose to power and dominated the globe.
Everyone forgot the gods and goddesses once walked among them.
These few humans - or should I say, fledgling divine, are reborn. They simply don't know it yet.
Life had always been a bit strange for them, hints of magic here and there, but nothing like what is about to happen.
You are one of these fledgling gods and goddesses, someone who has always lived a normal human life - though each and every one of you is an orphan. Never to know your parents, never knowing they didn't exist. The hymns and tales of old may be of note, but none of the oracles' predictions matter anymore. You are your own person... but will you fall into the same trappings as the deity you truly are, or can you be different?
Possibilities of yet another apocalypse aside, there are those who aren't so pleased with the divine. Many a god has had many a demigod. Many of these demigods have stood the test of time and would be more than happy to settle old debts that you don't even remember.
So be careful. Learn your powers quick, for your enemies are already keen.

- No universe creator deities. There are a lot of them and they will cause arguments if used. I want to avoid that.
- Roman and Greek Deities are one and the same. We are using their Greek names. Also along the same line, titans are close enough to gods in Greek myth that you can use them too.
- Deities' personalities are based on their myth. Zeus is probably a lech, Athena a know it all, Aphrodite jealous, Odin is controlling, etc. Beyond their basic personality though, it's up to you. They were raised by humans, after all.
- Deities are first come first serve. If one person already grabbed Zeus and you wanted him... sorry, too late.
- No pre-claiming. You must have at least a basic sheet fleshed out with everything filled (though able to be changed later) and a TBA in the backstory at minimum to claim a spot.
- Keep religion out of this. If two deities claim to have created the same thing, it's down to me to say who did what in reality. Your characters are just that, characters, and can claim whatever they want (After all... they are deities. Boasting is practically their middle name.), but that doesn't mean it's true.
- No made-up deities, you can use this list for some help: List of pantheons - Wikipedia
- Deities can be gender-swapped.
- Must be at minimum 20 years old, at maximum 45.
- Anime images preferred but realistic accepted.
- It is modern-day! Through whatever means, actions, events, or otherwise, your character is in San Fransisco, California right now. Feel free to add the reason to your backstory if you wish. They could feel drawn to the location or could have simply been looking for a vacation. Whatever you'd like.
