True enough. Personally I don't see the problem with your character having to sacrifice living organisms in order for it to work. Galahad maybe against it, but that is for another time

I'm also pretty sure everyone's against the idea of sacrificing a unicorn even Bentonville.

That will be a divided topic, on one hand for Taliesin wouldn't have the desire to kill a beast less it for food, but on the other hand returning life would tempt him if only due to past trauma. Kinda seeing as black magic using sacrifices to bring back the dead yet if they are animals bringing back sentient life..... It's almost too good to be true. A Inner conflict that might in the end have him against it. Since he cares for animals and only kills them when necessary.
