Judiths dad came in raising hell. "Those stupid Italian kids. Good for nothing bastards..." Jude opened her door and peeped around the corner at her mother trying to calm her father. Danny, as the family called him was the leader of the Yellow Birds. One of the most notorious gangs out there but recently there has been another gang on the uprising.

 

[Mr Brontosaurus]

Chuck instantly thought about calling her back and calling it off, but he didn't see it as such a big deal as more of etiquette. His bosses may be pissed, but it was obvious Judith wasn't really a part of the gang life, otherwise she wouldn't be working in a diner anyway. If she ever mentioned her dear old Pop, they'd have to call it off, but he could play dumb and just pretend he didn't know any better. Besides, Judith was cute and actually called him.

Judith decided to go to bed and get ready for another day at the diner. After all women needed their beauty sleep. Judith awoke around 6 and got dressed in the stupid outfit the diner called uniforms, checkered skirts and a white shirt. She kissed her mothers cheek and left for work. Hopefully today would be a good day like yesterday.

Chuck woke up late, since his job was more of an on-call thing, but he had enough time to go to lunch. He walked down to the diner himself and by the time he got there, he was a little sweaty so he checked himself in the reflection of a napkin dispenser with a comb and made sure his shirt was neat. Chuck waited to be seen, and his heart did a funny little palpitation when he saw Judy again. He waved like an idiot, grinning at her.

Judiths day has been going by slow so far. The bell on the door jingled and she sighed. "Good afternoon welcome to- Oh hi Chuck," Jude smiled and giggled at him waving. "What do you want to drink?" She asked crossing her arms and smiling down at him.

He liked how she looked when crossed her arms, it was cute. "I'll have a water, Judy," he said, smiling back at her and leaning coolly in the seat. "And I'll have you join me for lunch if you can sneak away for a break," he said, grinning at her.

Judith laughed and looked over her shoulder to the clock. "I haven't had a break all mornin' ya know, I guess I could make some time for you." She laughed and left to get him his water. "Here ya go, what would you like to eat?" She asked sweetly as she pulled out her notepad.

Chuck leaned back and took a sip of his water, relishing it's coolness and winking at her. "Thanks, I'll have a cheeseburger and some fries. Have the cook cut it in half and we can share it," Chuck offered. "Unless you'd rather eat anything else here, I don't really know what's good but it's hard to mess up a burger," Chuck laughed.

Judith rolled her eyes at his wink. "I'll be back in a second." As she walked toward the kitchen she stumbled a bit and looked over her shoulder, her face red in embarrassment. Jude soon came back and sat across from Chuck along with her pop she had brought. The woman leaned her chin on her hand and watched Chuck. "How has your day been?"

Chuck didn't see her stumble, and when she came back he leaned in and completely mirrored her. "My day just started. I got up and came for lunch since I'd missed breakfast. Maybe later I'll go see the boys," Chuck said suddenly wishing he hadn't mentioned them. He didn't want her to ask what he did. "And yourself, Lil' Miss Diner Gal?"

Judith smiled and leaned in a bit closer. "Well I have hung out here all day. And maybe I'll be here for the rest of the day. What are you and the boys going to do? Chase women?" She asked slightly jokingly. Chuck could get any woman he wanted to. He was rather attractive. Jude glanced up into his green eyes and bit her lip.

Chuck was suddenly overwhelmed with the urge to bite her lip for her but instead nonchalantly shrugged. "Maybe, maybe I'll just spend my whole day lost in thought about this cute girl I hung out with at lunch. The boys and I might go downtown and just cruise the streets, y'know? Nothin' to do," Chuck brushes off. As if he chases girls, yeah right. They chased Randal, not some goofy cat like him.

Judith sat back in her seat, crossing her legs, smiling "Hm, I think thats a good plan. Because maybe I'll be thinking bout this freckle faced boy while I'm stuck here." Jude raised her eyebrows and grinned. "But then again, maybe I won't," She teased and winked at him.

 

[Mr Brontosaurus]

Chuck rolled his eyes and grinned devilishly. "So what do I gotta do to make you think about me all day?" Chuck teased, watching her face. She was fun to be around at least.

Judith leaned on her elbows and laughed. "I dont know. I guess you'll have to find out." She smiled and stood up as the cook called the order. Jude came back with the food and sat back down.

Chuck picked up a few french fries and tossed them in his mouth, then stood up and crossed to the other side of the table where Judy sat and proceed to slide into the booth with her. "Well how 'bout if I hold you hostage? Then you're stuck with me."

Judes eyes got a bit bigger as Chuck slid in next to her. "I think my boss would be pretty pissed. Get back over to your side." She giggled and nudged his shoulder.

In defeat, Chuck slinked back to his own side and sipped at his water before having a few more fries. "You gona eat, Judy?" Chuck didn't want her to be hungry to be hungry to try and impress him by being dainty.

Judith frowned a bit and ate some fries. The cook came up to their table. "Jude, you can take the rest of the day off. Boss said we can close up early." He left and she cut the burger in half leaving Chuck with the larger half. "I think me and the girls might go to the beach with some friends." She said before taking a bite.

 

[Mr Brontosaurus]

Chuck nodded, also taking a bite of a burger. "Beach, eh? I might have to go now," Chuck winked, wondering if she wore polka dots or stripes on her suit. As he was flirting, a loud bang on the window caused him to jump and most of his burger landed in his lap. It was the boys and Randal, all of the laughing as he made a mess. Instead of getting bent, Chuck picked up the burger and continued to eat it happily as they laughed and waved him outside. "No! Occupied!" he shouted, pointing at Judy. They made kissy faces and eventually left, leaving Chuck to clean up his lap. "You were saying?"

Judith jumped about 6 inches out of her seat and turned red. "You and the um boys, can come if you want," She hoped none of the boys from her Fathers gang would be there but they would have to deal with it. Judith laughed softly and finished her half of the burger. "You guys will have to behave if you come. I can't introduce the girls to bad guys."

 

[Mr Brontosaurus]

Chuck shrugged and looked at her as coolly as he could. "What if I'm a bad guy all the time and I can't behave?" Chuck teased, knocking on the window to get their attention. Randal and the boys were just starting up the car as they turned, and he mouthed the word beach. They hooted and clapped, speeding down the avenue in the Chevrolet and leaving Chuck alone with Judy again.

Judy laughed softly. "They're every where aren't they? Hey, I'm going to be going. See you in an hour or so?" She asked as she took the empty plate and her soda. She put the dishes in the kitchen. "Don't worry about the bill." She said walking back to him. "An hour."

 

[Mr Brontosaurus]

Chuck didn't listen and set down a five on the table, standing and taking one last sip of his water. "Got it, an hour. I'll see you at the beach. Shall we shake on it?" Chuck held out his hand, waiting for her.

Judy laughed softly at him then shook his hand softly. She turned and made her way out the door and towards home.
