Judith began closing up the diner around 9. No one was there except a few greasers and a group of high school girls. The young woman walked up to the girls. "Don't you think you girls should be getting home? Its almost closing time." Jude always began closing an hour early so she could get home before 10:30. The girls went to the register to pay and left. Jude cleaned up and waited for the boys to leave.

Chuck was busy balancing a spoon on his nose to notice the waitress telling the other girls to leave, in fact the whole rowdy group was just laughing like a bunch of idiots, trying to ruin his balance by tossing paper napkins at him as he continued to hold the spoon. "Chuck, do the thing with the cup!" Randal shouted, and Chuck balanced a cup on his chin while moving the spoon to the edge of his nose, the boys cheering at his balancing prowess. "If only you could balance a girl like that!" one laughed, and Chuck shoved him roughly and the group guffawed.

Jude rolled her eyes at the boy balancing a cup on his chin and walked towards him. She cleared her throat. "Excuse me. But if you boys are done eating I would like you to leave." Jude picked up the napkins off the floor and grabbed the cup and spoon from the boy as well as clearing the tables. She fled to the kitchen and then back to the dining area to wash the tables and sweep.

Chuck and the group groaned as the cute little blonde stole the spoon and cup back, tsking and watching her walk away. Randal, the un-proclaimed leader, winked at the boys and climbed over the table and sat at the diner bar, grinning at her. "Hey sweetheart, you could come with us. I'll walk yah to your mom and pop, if yah want," Randal offered sickly sweet, getting jeers from the table as he waved them to be quiet.

I will reply tomorrow, go ahead and post and I'll reply asap

Judith blushed lightly and ignored him. She looked up momentarily at him then back down to the table she was cleaning. "I don't think my pop would be too happy about a random boy taking me home. And I'm so very sure that isn't what you want to do anyway." She told him leaning forward and resting a finger under his chin. Her eyes glanced to the boys then back to the one in front of her.

Chuck watched the exchange, laughing when she shot him down and winking at her when she glanced back at the boys. Randal stormed away, playing cool as best as he could. He jotted down his number with a pencil on a napkin, tossed down a dollar on the table and nudged at the boys to leave. "C'mon, she's tired. We can ask again tomorrow," Chuck said.

Judith smirked at the boy and swiped the dollar and the boys number off the table. She headed toward the register. "Will this be all together or separate?" Judith asked looking at the group of boys. Her eyes trailed to the boy who gave her his number and bit her lip.

"Psh honey, it's on me," Chuck says, and the boys clap hom on the back and head out to the cat without him. "And I'll pay for your dinner too sometime," Chuck says, pulling out his wallet and handing her fifteen bucks for all six boys and a tip. "See yah round, Judith," Chuck says, peering at her nametag before heading for the door.

Judith smiled at him. "Can't wait. Come again boys." She called as she rung up the bill and finished closing up. She grabbed her coat and began to make her way home. The walk from her house to the diner was about 15 minutes. The only reason she didn't have a car was because her father didn't want her running off with boys she barely knows. But of course she did anyway.

Chuck got into the Chevy and the other boys were cat-calling him, and he blushed. The boys dropped him off, and he quickly ducked into his house and kissed his mother on the cheek and inhaling the smell of her chicken gnocchi. "MH! Bella, Mama. Bellisimo," Chuck said, and his mother handed him a bowl and asked about his day with his 'friends'.

Judith got home earlier than usual. She had brought home a burger from the diner for dinner. The house was quiet as her mother was out for date night with her father. Jude picked up around the house after she had eaten. She finally grabbed the landline line and dialed Chucks number.

As he was scarfing on chicken gnocchi, a phone rang from theb living room. He picked it up and had a bite, saying with a muffled voice "'Elloh?" He hadn't expected for Judith to call at all, so he thought it was possibly one of the boys with a late-night job.

Judith bit her lip. "Hello. Um, is this Chuck? It's Judith." She said unconfidently. He probably gave her a fake number. Alot of boys have given her their number but she never really called them. She cleared her voice trying to gain confidence.

Chuck almost choked on his second dinner, then he swallowed and cleared his voice. "H-hey! It's Chuck, yeah. Hey Judith...I didn't expect you to call," he said, setting the bowl down and sitting on the couch. "Thinkin' about taking me up on dinner? We'd have to walk, I ain't got a car," he said sheepishly.

Judith laughed softly. "I am thinking about taking you up on that dinner. Its fine. Im used to walking." She said sweetly. Judith's mother came in. "Sorry honey your father had to go on a run...." Judith cut her mother off. "Mom I'm on the phone." She told her before shutting the door. "Sorry..."

"Sounds great," Chuck said suavely. "Anywhere you wana go? This place over on fifth serves possibly the best Italian, it almost puts my momma to shame," Chuck bragged, then laughed. "Almost."

Judith giggled. "Oh really? Maybe one day I'll be able to try both," She joked back. Judith began painting her nail and softly blowing on them to dry.

"Well you can at least compare. Say, your name is Judith, whats your last name? Im Charlie, or Chuck DeAngelo," he said, twirling a finger around the cord as his mother winked at him. He waved her away and waited for her.

"Judith Parker. Jude, Judy, Judith. Whatever you want to call me." Judith laughed nervously. "When will we have our little hm, get together?" She questioned

Parker? He'd heard that name before someplace..."How's next Friday? Catch a flick, have a bite, walk home and such," Chuck said, watching his mom write an X on the calendar where his date was, signifying he wouldn't be home that night. "Sounds great to me at least. I'll come get you around six?" Parker, Parker...where had he heard that name?

Judith heard a sense of hesitation in Chucks voice. "That's fine with me. I guess I'll see you then. Goodnight Chuck," Jude said worrying a little bit. She waited for his reply and played with the phone cord. Maybe she had scared him away.

"Good night Judy, I'll see you Friday," he said, hanging up and avoiding a teasing grin from his mom. Suddenly he had to call and ask. He called his friend Randal, and he felt a chill sweep over him. "Please tell me there's another family named Parker in the town. Asians? Alright, thanks," he said, hanging up. He'd made a date with a rival gangs daughter. Shit.
