Ah, so it was Xander, Lux and Ferryn who had an issue. It wasn't exactly a combination she'd seen coming, but Mako could guess from their words that some sort of miscommunication went down. They all apologized and metaphorically hugged it out while waiting for class to start. Mako was surprised that they'd handled it so well, but then she realized that most arguments she'd seen for a while had been with drunk patrons at the buffet.
The teacher finally announced class to begin, and Mako braced herself for yet another colossal display of embarrassment on her part. But then he kept explaining... and kept explaining... then explained some more. Mako tilted her head to the side, waiting for the other foot to drop... but it never did. This exercise specifically tasked them not to use their quirks? Mako looked around, wondering if maybe she'd misheard. Nope, they'd really just be performing acts of physical activity.
Though she was far too proficient in restraint to show it, inwardly Mako beamed. Though it only appeared as her nonchalantly pulling her hands from her pockets, she immediately turned and made for the locker rooms. As she changed into her gym clothes, Mako considered why they'd be partnered up anyway. She supposed her theory about lifting weights was partially correct. If two of them were together at all times, then one could call for help if something happened. So it was still kind of like spotting, only instead of making sure her partner didn't drop a weight on them, Mako'd have to call out if there was some sort of harness malfunction... or if they tripped and were buried under some tires... or if they dehydrated themselves running.
Mako merely shrugged, once more just going full steam ahead and letting fate take care of the rest. Setting aside her usual attire, Mako adopted the gym clothes with a bit of hesitation. It wasn't that she didn't like wearing other stuff, she just felt more comfortable being covered up and out of view. It did wonders for helping her keep a low profile, some people could hardly even tell she was a girl if it weren't for the long hair and eyelashes. Mako kept her hat and mask, she refused to be out there drooling all over the school's equipment. That wasn't cute in the slightest. Despite not having a reputation to fret over, Mako refused to start off her days at the Academy with a bad one.
Eventually she got to pulling on the harness, occasionally keeping an eye on Lux. She'd barely been able to talk to her before, so Mako supposed this exercise would help give her some insight. If Ferryn liked her then there couldn't be too much they could disagree on, right? Mako would once more give the benefit of the doubt, fiddling with the latches on the harness before looking over the wall again. Realistically, Mako was positive she could get up and down this wall several times with little hassle. There weren't any time limits given out, so she could take as much time as she needed.
"Come on, Partner, I'll be sure to grab you if you slip or something." She paused for a moment and shrugged "I'd ask you to do the same, but if I lose my grip up there it's pretty much too late for me. So... just gonna roll with it."
With that she finished the last latch then began her climb, taking time to feel for each incline before ascending another step. Every few stops she'd glance to her partner before continuing up the wall.
