Question about the "No descriptive gore" rule

I only want to be 100% clear about this rule.

I have a character that's very much fit for the horror genre. He's a demonic-esque character, involving cannibalism and body mutilation, however it's not necessary to go into huge descriptive detail with his gore in RPs although it is a thing he does often.

Am I prohibited from using this extreme a horror-genre character? Or is the rule meant to prevent ridiculously pointless descriptions of brutal gore? Can I simply add warnings and tags to any threads he may or may not be involved in?

A main reason I ask is because I wish to post his character sheet, and finding that rule tells me he won't even be tolerated in this website (which is perfectly reasonable!). If nobody minds, could someone please lay out the fine lines with this rule?

By no means do I intend to violate rules, I don't intend to argue or bring in inappropriate content to this website. I'd just like to know how intense horror RPs are allowed to get here.

You're right, it's basically no ridiculously pointless descriptions of brutal gore. The rule was made after an rp appeared that was written by professionals who had a loot of experience writing gore...

Just for the sake of other people, it would be a good idea to put some sort of warning where it's visible/easily seen, so people know what they're getting into. And if it's in someone else's rp you gotta follow your GM's rules too, if they don't want gore then you gotta respect that.

Other than that, you'll probably be good.

Awesome~! Sounds reasonable enough, I'll just be sure to post warnings and make sure my partners are completely accepting of this.

Thanks for the answer.

This thread answers a lot of your questions! Help - How much is TOO much? (Gore?)

In general, blood spurting, bone crunching, etc is fine... but if you're really getting into the details, like, I dunno... the feel of the internal organs as they are slowly crushed in a fist.... that's too much.

We especially draw this line with images.

EDIT: Ghost y u ninja meh

Images aren't a problem with me as none of that will be brought in by me, thankfully.

Much of the gore with my character will be "implied" then, only taking a few sentences to tastefully describe the situation with minimal detail. However, I do have one specific-sounding question.

My character, for instance, likes to collect human heads and name them, acting as if they're toys or imaginary friends. This is a character quirk that can be a sort of "reveal" or a huge scare to the other character, thus somewhat of a plot point. I don't need to go into detail about how mutilated they are, of course, but it still stands that it'll be a character talking to and showing off decapitated human heads. (such a charming character...)

What you described should be fine. ^^

Really, unless you write professionally it probably won't break the rules. Except for that one time, I can't recall us ever having to warn someone for descriptive gore. It'd be pretty rare.

Awesome! Thanks, both of you, I'm really relieved to hear these answers. C:

I've actually posted the character sheet. I'm sure it won't be a problem as per my understanding of the rules, but if it is, I'll be glad to remove it. It's all labeled up with warnings and what not, so I'm positive that it won't bother a soul on this website.
