Project Black IC

"Cooperate."

Shin gritted his teeth at Willo's words and could feel the grip on his wrist tighten. He pinched his eyes shut for a split second right before Willo started to move him towards the door to the docking bay. As they walked Shin's breathing became a lot calmer, but if Willo could see the look on his face one could tell he was quite pissed.

After getting into the limo and the grip on his was gone Shin was quick to try other ideas. This all stopped when he smacked his head on the ceiling of the car. "Ow..." Shin rubbed his head and instead of continuing his actions he took a seat. "Did this thing get smaller?" He asked looking up and around the inside of the vehicle.

Jacob gave Shin an amused smile, "You just got taller." He stated calmly.

Shin turned his attention to Willo as the man found a seat next to him. This time he was able to get an even better look over the man.

Walker pulled out some of the tablets and turned on the screens, he looked over the contents quickly before handing one to Jacob. Jacob casually looked over the content as well before smiling and handing it back to Walker. He motioned to hand the tablet to Shin. "This is your new contract." Jacob watched as Walker handed the tablet to Shin. The man had to reach over Willo to hand Shin the tablet. Walker seemed a bit tense while reaching out. His eyes shifted from the tablet to Willo every few seconds.

It seemed as if the man was scared to be close to the other. Shin on the other hand almost climbed over Willo not caring about the other's space. He snatched the tablet before sitting back into his seat. "What do you mean 'new' contract?" Shin sounded angered as he swiped his finger across the screen a few times. He would pause and quickly scan over the words. The more he did so, the more one could tell that Shin's blood was starting to boil.

Before Jacob could answer the car started to move. It started off slow but soon picked up speed and even off the ground. The one fun thing about this limo was that it wasn't really made to hoover around on the streets, it was made to fly around the skies so that way Jacob could get to his destinations much faster and not have to deal with the public.

"In your last contract there was a small clause." Jacob took another tablet from Walker and started to swipe over the screen. "That clause gave me the rights to change the contract, seeing as you ran away and were not around during the negotiations.... I went ahead and fixed all the problems." The man was so casual about the topic while Shin only seemed angered by it.

Shin watched Jacob as he spoke before turning back to the contract. He scrolled down the file as fast as he could until he got to the section he was looking for. His eyes shot wide, "Forty years?" Shin exclaimed. He blinked looking to Jacob. Jacob stayed quiet as he continued on with his business. Shin looked back to the tablet and skimmed around the content. "This isn't a contract it's a death sentences." Shin shook his head before dropping the tablet next to him and sinking back into his seat. "My life is over..." He mumbled to himself.

Jacob smirked, "You don't have to be all dramatic about it."

"Your face is dramatic." Shin responded.

This only made Jacob smile as his eyes were focused on the tablet. "I'll take that as a compliment."

The limo came to a slow stop as it came face to face with a tall building. The driver hit a button which then opened a large door on the side of the building. The door was located on the side of the building almost seventy stories above the ground. The limo slowly and carefully drove through the threshold before the door closed behind them. The limo landed softly onto the ground of the otherwise large and full garage. It landed close to a large set of double doors that was decorated with gold and detailed designs.

A group of men in black suits gathered at the door and at the limo. A tall man opened the door for Jacob and the others. Jacob slipped out first followed by Walker. Leaving Shin and Willo.

Shin sat up at this time and picked up the tablet he had dropped next to him. He looked to Willo for a mere second before climbing over the guy to get out of the vehicle.

Once he stepped out of the car Shin noticed the surprised and shocked looks from the guards. He tried to shake it off but the stares were piercing and wouldn't stop. Shin frowned a bit as he let out a rough sigh.

Completely oblivious to the utter turmoil that was happening to Shin, the unusual group that made up the Gallion's crew- although some of them did not know they were part of the group yet- found their way into a bustling bar. It had been a long time since DJ had been to Edison, and although he didn't initially remember his trips on the planet, his memory started to jog as he passed familiar destinations. He could remember being drunk here, doing drunk things there, drunkly flirting with girls near that fountain, and doing stupid and fun drunk things in the square. The pilot grinned at the bright memories came flooding back. He never had a bad experience on the Edison.

The bar itself was relatively crowded with entertainers, escorts, tourists, and gamblers; all of which were very drunk. It didn't take a genius to realize that they all stuck out like sore thumbs, as they were the only ones not intoxicated. However, that issue was quickly upon the arrival of a very large tray of shots.

"Thats what I'm talking about", DJ said at the sight of the drinks. He took both shots and downed them at the same time. Then looked up at the waitress, "A round of Boilermakers for the group of us please." He winked at the girl and looked back at the others only to realize that Charlie and Raven seemed to be somewhat distracted. Not a problem, Daniel thought, if they don't drink theirs I certainly won't mind having another

The six half pints of beer arrived at their table accompanied by the whiskey shots.

"Now guys, there's a right way to do this, and if it's not done that way then it's wrong." He smiled at the other guys, "now I'm not talented many things, but I am good at this. Watch and learn." He proceeded to dump the shot of whiskey into his drink and chug the pint in one gulp like a barbarian. He slammed the glass on the table and wiped away some of the beer that  had spilled out the sides of his mouth.

"Now it's a party!" He yelled loudly as he ordered another drink.

Charlie

Eyes sliding back and forth between simulators and Raven, Charlie fought the urge to smile and rolled her eyes, fainting reluctance for all of about three seconds before buckling. Raven’s mischievous expression melting Charlie’s ‘iron’ will like butter.

“Oh alright. If you are gonna pout.” Charlie laughed, jerking a thumb towards the sleek machines as she removed her ‘lucky’ jacket in anticipation and set it down next to Avea. It was a stupid question as in truth Charlie already knew Raven’s two top choice picks, but she would let Raven pick regardless. Glancing to the newly acquired shots, Charlie gave a wicked grin and reach forward and picked up two glasses.

Handing one to Raven, she raised her own with a cocked eye brow.

“Liquid courage in homage to my near-future defeat against one of Edison’s finest,” She laughed, “Wish me luck.” She winked this, as she cast a glance to her group, knowing full well they weren’t listening to her or Raven. With that, the girl swung the glass back and emptied it. Fighting back a shiver as the alcohol hit her lips, tongue and throat, the girl slammed her glass down, just in time to cheer DJ as he finished the dregs of his first pint.

Making eye contact with the man, she pointed to one of the drinks pointedly.

“Save me one of those.” She said, before turning back to Raven. “Let’s do this, then shall we?”

Crossing the short distance to the simulators, Charlie passed through the doorway, entering the thin bubble with nothing more than a gentle beep as the system picked on the presence of a new contender. Picking one of the two bikes, Charlie climbed on, taking off her navigation glasses and placing them delicately on the other bike. Twisting around to look over her shoulder, she eyed Raven expectedly as she sat back and ran a cool hand through her dishevelled hair.

“Alright Raven, who will it be? Make it good.”

Dax

“That depends on how much are you willing to lose?” Dax asked, a playful smirk tugging at the corners of his lips as he accepted Ross’ top up, glad to see his friend’s mood lift.

“Saying ‘no’ to those woman is as good giving them an invitation.” The giant sighed pleasantly as he chewed his bottom lip thoughtfully. “and given we’ve been on the ground now for, what? An hour? Maybe 2? They’ll probably already neck deep in trouble with at least one bar fight on the horizon.”  He laughed at this, as he pictured the two riders in the centre of chaos with flying glasses, bar stool splitters and bikes; their natural environment.

“No doubt they’re finding themselves at perfectly at home.” The man shrugged this as he shook his head, making the beaded dreads clatter. “No. The real question is how many of the others do you think they have coerced into joining their little excursion?”

He once again smirked as he took another heavy sig from his glass, feeling his core begin to heat pleasantly. For such a large creature, his tolerance was surprisingly low.

“Mind. I don’t think we’ll be waiting long till they get back.” Dax mused, stretching a muscled arm lazily over his head, letting the pent-up tension from the crash roll out of his muscles while his senses were numbed.

“Three months’ pay on them coming back on the war path the moment they catch scent of Shin’s secret.” At this, the man give a loud laugh, imagining the two riders baring down on the helpless navigator. “May the gods help his soul. He’ll be lucky to get of this one alive.”

Willo Barrett

If Shin looked hard, he'd be able to see the odd faded scar on his face. They were thin, and very much the opposite of 'pronounced,' though judging by the length and jaggedness of some of them it would seem like this was the work of some advanced medicine rather than the natural body. One runs along the jaw, nearly from the chin, and stops somewhere below the ear - Unpleasant, most likely, but very lucky when considering where else the cut could have gone along. It is the most grueling of them though, as the others are, though unpleasant, much smaller. An inch-long line on the forehead, and a number of likely related scars scattered under on the cheek. All-in-all, though, they are very hard to pick out. Not that it matters; the man's presence could still garner enough intimidation without them. His features are sharp, and with the cut of his hair and the large beard on his face he certainly seems fit to be in the business of hurting things. The height and build certainly add to that, which are further pronounced by the authorative coat he wears.

He likely knows it too, making it a little clearer why he shows as much surprise as he does when Shin non-chalantly crawls over his lap. He can feel one of Shin's pointier bones pressing against the coat, though thankfully the leather is thick enough to not create an embarassing moment. His mask cracks, a small frown deepening in a sign of annoyance. Even when Shin removes himself from Willo's personal space, it remains for a few more moments.

"Forty years?" Shin exclaims.

The face shifts into surprise, and even in the attempts to appear impartial he cannot help but look over in no small amount of disbelief. He continues to stare as Shin's complaints are given, but as soon as Jacob responds he looks forward again. Thankfully, the limo soon came to a stop. Just after Jacob and his others get out, Willo plants his palms against his knees to push himself up - Only to be stopped by Shin as he, once again, crawls over him to get out. He emits an annoyed grunt, resisting every urge to shove the man off of him. When Shin looks back to the bodyguard, he'd be met with an icy glare as the guard gets up from his seat. Momentary, but obvious.

Willo leaves the limo with Shin, taking one look over the gathering of shocked faces before reaching back to close the limo door behind him He then steps up beside shin, leaning closer to speak in a low voice - "Keep goi-" he stops, only now catching sight of the golden double doors. His jaw slackens - His tone loses its projected authority, and he speaks in a low whisper "He has gold doors to his /garage/?"

"Ha! If you're proper way is to mix drinks until you pass out then keep me out of it. I'm trying to take the edge off. Not wake up in a slave camp or something of that nature."

The avalon laughed and took another gander around himself. Just to see who was staring and who wasn't. Unsurprisingly, not many were outright staring. Unless they were drunk out of their minds already, most kept their eyes away until they thought Aeva wasn't looking. That was when they began to look at him. Most were polite stares, simply surprised to see an Avalon on this planet. Others.....not so nice.

The pseudo angel's eyes did lock onto some kind of health clinic over in the distance. His avian eyes zeroed in on the place and his heart almost leapt out of his throat. On the sign, it said they could heal broken bones in days. Aeva could already heal rather quickly, thanks to his genetic augments, but this would mean that he could have those damn fragile bones fixed in a matter of hours!

As it was already, Aeva slowly unfurled his crimson wings. They were tightly folded in but he wanted to see how much movement he had in it once more. The action caused a decent amount of pain to shoot through his body but he was able to bring his wings to a full stretch. He did almost knock over a few people from the sheer size of his huge wings but other than that, it meant he was healing quite well. That means that clinic could possibly fix him up right away.

"Hey guys, I'm gonna go over to that clinic and see if I can't get my shoulder looked at. I think some actual treatment will do me better than emergency first aid. DJ, try not to get completely drunk. You have to keep the girls safe remember? Especially, since I'm not in any type of fighting condition."

Without further delay, Aeva pushed forward through the intoxicated crowd and made his way to the medical center.

The reaction of the crew to a large winged avalon walking through their gates was expected. But one arm in a sling and the other crispy was more than enough for them understand why he had come. Aeva didn't have an appointment but there was, luckily,  no clients at the moment. So that meant that Aeva could practically stroll right in.

The Orthlinian thoroughly explained his injuries according to what he felt with a veteran soldier's composure. It seemed to be a breath of fresh air to the physician that was attending him. Considering Aeva wasn't intoxicated or injured by illegal actions.

They explained the procedure, the costs, the risks and if Aeva could shrug, he would have. The avalon had money. It wasn't a fortune by any means, but it was enough for a comfortable retirement. The angelic man went ahead and paid for the treatment and also had his burnt arm treated properly. Good thing too, as it seemed an infection was threatening to set in with all the people moving around through the city and Aeva with a large open wound on his body.

"We'll just administer the anesthesia now an-"

"No need doc."

"What do y-"

"Doc, believe me. I've had much worse done to me with no form of anesthetic and no painkillers after. Believe me, unless its surgery I can take it."

Aeva proved both points, as they procedure didn't take long and wasn't very invasive. The previous first aid preformed by the medics aboard the Gallion had helped the procedure along immensly it seems and Aeva wasn't even there for more than an hour. A few injections and the man was ready to go.

His burnt arm now completely bandaged up to the forearm and his bones on a rapid healing process, Aeva decided that he barely wasted enough time. So he absentmindedly gazed a passing car overhead and figured he should go let the others in the Gallion know what was up. Raven and the others wouldn't miss him for probably another hour or so. Besides, Val might need some help with something.

Gallion........

Rem found himself wandering around the ship shortly after Aeva had left. He figured he could use this time to familiarize himself with his new home. As he did so he couldn't help but realize how quiet everything was. He couldn't find his brothers or anyone else for that matter. He did however find himself heading back to the dinning area. He could hear two voices coming from the main area and soon found who the voices belonged to. Both the captain and her first mate.

He over heard a little bit of their conversation, mostly the part about how most of the crew probably ran off to explore the planet already. His shoulders dropped as he approached the room.

Ross couldn't help but just nod at the other's words. Dax was speaking nothing but honesty, although some things were lacking, like their three months pay was a bit over exaggerated. Ross took a hard sip from her glass. The Gallion was both broke in the bank and just broken. She was able to pay the crew, but not as much as she wished or hopped for. So she had to agree that they would be back soon. She paused for a moment when she noticed Rem standing in the doorway.

She gave the man a soft smile before motioning him in. "Everything ok?" She asked as she looked him over.

Rem smiled back and made his way over to the two. "Yeah, I um... I just can't seem to find anyone." Rem took a seat next to Dax feeling more comfortable sitting next to the first mate than to seat next to the captain.

Ross licked her lips a bit as she let a finger run around the rim of her glass. She watched Rem and casually glanced to Dax every so often. "More than likely they are off exploring Edison." She nodded to the new hired gun.

Shin.............

Shin noticed the icy glare from Willo, this just made him frown and let his dull gaze wander. Shin snapped his attention back to Willo, but not because of his first demanding words, it was the man's question. Shin blinked as he placed two and two together. Willo wasn't just new, he was brand new. This meant a lot of bad news for Shin... Or it could mean good news. He wasn't sure yet.

"You should see what he shits in." Shin let out a rough breath before moving. You could tell there was a slight difference in the racer since Willo gave him an icy look. Shin started to keep his distance from Willo as he followed Jacob and Walker through the double doors.

The hallway was long and pure white. No signs of doors or even and end of the hallway. But Jacob stopped half way down and Walker turned to the white wall. He placed a hand up to the wall and a green thin light ran over the palm of his hand. A large part of the wall opened to reveal a large white room.

This room had a big window in the back that looked over another room. White yet comfy chairs lined the first room showing that it was a waiting area or a viewing area. A man stood waiting for their arrival. He was tall and had dark short hair. The long white doctors coat gave away who the man was very quickly. He nodded towards Jacob and motioned towards four others standing behind him. These people had to be the doctor's assistants or nurses. They held a very similar look of professionalism.

Upon seeing Shin the doctor and his staff seemed a bit taken back. They still kept their composure but the looks on their faces said otherwise.

"Sorry to have called you on such short notice." Walker stated as Jacob found himself a seat. "We'll need a full diagnostic and repair if needed." Walker told the doctor.

The man nodded as Walker motioned towards Shin. Shin took a step forward knowing all too well what this was and why. The doctor took a good look at Shin before a large smile crossed his face. "Dr. Brenson." He held out a hand to Shin. Shin shook the man's hand and nodded slightly. "Big fan Mr. Edison." Brenson added. Shin forced a small smile as he was lead into the next room with the doctor and his staff.

Jacob looked up from his tablet just as Shin had left the room and motioned for Willo to take a seat next to him. "Mr. Barrett." His voice was calm and collected as he handed his tablet over to Willo.

"I know your services were requested for a personal body guard to myself, but I feel your services will be more useful else where." Jacob pointed to the tablet. "Here is my new proposal."

The tablet Jacob had handed Willo was nothing more than another contract. The contract was simple, instead of protecting and helping out Jacob, his new job would be to protect 'Edison' and to ensure the racer did what he was told. A protector and enforcer. "I will assign a caretaker to make sure you know what his schedule will be.... Unless you think you can handle that as well?" Jacob questioned a little. Jacob watched the man carefully. "Of course there will be an increase in pay." He added hoping the man would accept his new offer.

Streets of Edison............

Andrew and Mathew both downed their shots quickly and were a bit surprised that the angel was quick to take his leave. It was a bit of a surprise for them as Aeva left, but they would shrug it off for the time being.

Mathew though picked up Charlie's jacket and slung it over his shoulder as the angel left. He was actually very much interested in seeing this simulator work. Out of the corner of his eyes he laughed a little as how quickly the pilot was to get drunk. All in all he would still wait and see what the night would bring. Andrew seemed to be on the same page as he casually took sips from his drink.

Raven on the other hand of course did both of her shots followed by downing her drink. Her thoughts on Dj's drink choice only made her shake her head no. "That's too much of a headache." She commented. She turned back to the simulator and watched as Charlie got onto the bike. She bit her lip a bit as she smiled greatly to the other. "I'm sure we already know the answer to that question." She stated. She noticed a card reader on the side of the door and pointed to it. "Does it only take digital credits?" she asked. Andrew smiled and pulled out a slim red and black card from his back pocket. "I got it." He swiped his card before placing it back away.

The glass all around Charlie started to blink the number '3', followed by the number '2', upon the number '1' the glass started to turn white and the door way started to close off and make the glass whole. Raven and the others took a step back and blinked as a female voice started to speak.

"For your safety and the safety of others, please stay inside the simulator at all times." The white now covered all around Charlie. "In case of an emergency or if you wish to stop the simulator, there is a panic button placed at the center of the console." A red button blinked in front of Charlie that said 'panic'. It was placed on the center of the gas tank where the gas cap would be.

The button stopped blinking and let itself stay lit with a very faint red glow.

All around her was dark and only the red glow seemed to let Charlie know that she was now alone in the simulator.

It was quiet... The sound proof glass made sure that Charlie couldn't even hear her friends on the outside let alone the noise from the city.

A small white light formed at the center of the glass that sat in front of her. The bike started to move slowly and it felt like it was being unlocked to move more freely but not by too much.

The light at the center pulsed as the voice came back. "Starting scanning sequence." Both red and green lights scanned over Charlie and the bike twice before disappearing. The little white light spoke again. "Scan complete......"

"Welcome Charlie Gardner." The voice stated, "Your game shall start in a few moments."

The voice and light disappeared leaving Charlie with the faint red panic light once more. A deeper and manly voice boomed within the walls of the simulator. "This simulation is brought to you by.... Astro tech, for all your racing and star ship needs....."

The voice once more faded as the room went quiet again.

A faint sound started to form behind her. It sounded like a bike racing towards her from the far distance. As it got closer the sound grew louder and louder.

A gust of wind shoved by her as the sound of the bike seemed to have passed her. It felt as if she had been standing still on a race track and someone had passed inches away from her at a great speed... A speed she had yet to experience. The sound and feel of another bike passed her on the opposite side even quicker than the last one... This was soon followed up by more invisible bikes racing past her. The wind, sound and movement of the bike felt so real even without a visual.

As the sounds of the bikes faded into the distance in front of her a light heart beating sound started to make itself known. The heart beat was soft and slow at first but soon it got louder and louder until it felt like it was coming from her own chest.

The screens around her flashed for a split second of a large crowd cheering and screaming. The sound and force of it was intense as it felt ever so real. Once more she could feel the heart beat coming from her chest in between the flashes of the crowd that were happening again and again as the scene around her moved. It drifted over the starting line of the all famous Edison races' starting line. The screen had stopped flashing and the image was solid but it felt like Charlie was flying with the way things moved.

The view suddenly dropped and Charlie would feel like she was free falling down. The bike jerked a bit as the view turned sharply down a long corridor where the racers would always appear from.

The sounds of voices and motors echoed through the corridor and soon she came up to a set of metal double doors. The movement stopped with a great halt, waiting for the doors to slowly open.

"So you think you can be a Racer huh?" A familiar voice was heard as the bike moved slowly passed the metal doors.

Charlie was now in what looked like a garage, it was filled with all kinds of bikes and racers... All she would not recognize if it wasn't for their uniforms or bikes. To her left a light formed at the ground and started to move up, creating an hologram of someone. The hologram was more than convincing as a large harry like monster now stood next to her. His face looked more like a large wolf and his height and muscles were huge. "Looks like we have another rookie on our hands." His voice was much deeper that the one that seemed more familiar. His eyes red as blood and almost seemed to glow. His uniform was not mistaken and neither was his figure. This was the famous racer called 'Wolfman'. Wolfman snarled his teeth into an amused smile. He snorted a breath at her which would feel extremely real. As if Wolfman actually sneezed on her.

"Give her a break." The familiar voice came again. With that Wolfman disappeared and another figure formed to her right. This time it was a thinner figure with amazing curves and gorgeous long hair. Her uniform was simple yet had a very grunge biker look to it. Her flaming red hair matched her make up and beauty. "I love it when rookies cry." The girl looked Charlie up and down. This was Ronda, Hot Rod Ronda. She was well known by most men... And with finally seeing her face, Charlie would now know why.

The game flickered as if something was wrong with the simulation. Ronda's figure flickered out and what she said next was not very clear. But blue sparks started to dance across the screen and the area in front of her. And as the game flickered another figure formed in front of her from the blue sparks. The blue sparks alone gave away the next racer she would see. It would be Edison as all of his bikes always gave of blue sparks while racing. In any of the adds she saw for the Edison races, when they would name Edison, once more blue sparks.

The game refocused and a much younger Shin appeared before her. A small smirk on his face and his arms crossed over his chest. His lips were moving as the sound was still trying to keep up with the game. "...it doesn't build character... It reveals it.." Shin finally spoke. The game seemed to settle for now and was back on track.

"So how about we get started?" Shin... Or Edison tilted his head at Charlie and took a step aside. Both Wolfman and Ronda appeared once more as the screen in front of Charlie showed a few options. She would now be able to select a racer to race against and also choose a bike from a long list of famous racers. The settings were already placed on her racing Ronda and her bike looked like Wolfman's bike. If she were to look down the whole shape of the bike would change. And if she changed who she was racing the racer and bike next to her would change.

DJ brushed off both Aeva and Raven's negative vibes.

"I'll have you know that I am an excellent drunk," he puffed up his chest heroically, "I'll have you know that I am at my best when I am drunk. I could fly the Gallion perfectly, right now.... or as soon as this hits me... Which will probably be soon. Also I have been drunk here enough times to know how to not end up as a slave." He gave a sassy side glance back at the winged man.

The only person of their party to encourage his 'positive vibes' was Charlie, who seemed to actually be cheering him on. Giving her a wink he pulled two pints over from the tray, one in front of him and one in front of the empty seat next to him.

"It's right here when you need it. I'll even wait for you before I start my next one." He smiled at the rider who seemed to share his love for life and partying, "Good luck!" He shouted as Raven dragged her over to the simulator.

((Sorry it's so short didn't really know what to write))

Willo Barrett

Willo barks a short laugh, quickly composing himself afterwards. He follows Jacob, Walker, and Shin from the back. Shin's caution was obvious, but Willo didn't show any sign of achknowledgement. The white hallway causes him momentary confusion, and he gives a quiet 'aah' when he sees Walker open a hidden entrance. Following the group inside, he stands idly by while the medical staff converse with, and eventually lead away, Mr. Edison. Once the man is moved out of the room, he looks over to his employer out of expectation. Either out of notice or originally planned, the man motions for Willo to come over and take a seat. He does so, keeping a comfortable distance between the two.

"Mr. Barrett," he began, handing over his tablet - Willo took hold of it, scanning over the screen with his eyes before looking back to the man - "I know your services were requested for a personal body guard to myself, but I feel your services will be more useful else where." He points to the tablet, but Willo keeps his eyes on him. He saw the screen, and knew at least where the man was going with this. For his sake, Willo let the man finish: "Here is my new proposal." He looks back down to the tablet, running through the collection of information which is there. Most importantly, of course, how much money he will receive under the new contract. "I'll take the caretaker so I know his schedule. There are no hidden clauses I hope?" he tries to implant a comedic tone to his question, but the man's faint accent plays against him and end in making the delivery flat. He sniffs, adding "I am fine with the new contract. Your property will remain safe."

With the angel now properly treated for most of his wounds, he had made his way through the winding streets of Edison once again. Less stares were cast upon his this time for....some odd reason but it mattered not. The avalon was excited. He could already feel the treatment working his magic and he didn't have to keep his wing bound anymore. He could unfurl it and while it weighed down on the broken collar bone, he could bear it. That and the alcohol/painkiller duo was probably helping out. After all, he had been in the clinic for an hour at most.

Aeva made his way to the Gallion once more and stepped into her maw of destroyed steel. The avalon pulled out his tablet and began doing a system's check. Nothing was even close to satisfactory (no surprise) but it was better than it had been. At least this hunk of metal wasn't going to blow anytime soon.

Still, Aeva had expected things to be in much better condition with Shin awake. Had he overestimated the man or was he just being lazy? Possibly just recovering. But from what he had overheard, Shin was the type to forsake his health for the ship. If that was so, then what the hell was he doing?

It didn't take long for Aeva to come across Rem, Dax, and Captain Ross. The hacker merely nodding his greetings to all of them.

"So Edison is very populated. They are also unbelievably fascinated with racing. As in obsessed. It's actually kind of curious why they are so fanatical about racers. DJ, Raven, and Charlie especially looked they were all about to lose their minds with all of the old propaganda.

Oh, Rem. Your brothers are keeping an eye on them so don't worry about that. I think it was actually their presence and mine combined that stopped several advances on the ladies. The planet has about as much crime as it does skyscrapers."

Aeva didn't actually know they weren't supposed to leave and merely chalked up Charlie's reaction to him being that as dramatic. Which it was, but still.

The angel's scarlet eyes found the captain's for a brief moment before hovering to Dax's and.....

.....was he drunk?

No, not drunk but had definitely been drinking. The avalon's eyes returned to the bottle and noticed that it had barely been touched yet. His eyes kept flicking back and forth between the bottle, Ross, and Dax and he still found no logical answer. Despite his avalonian mind, he couldn't comprehend how the giant was far more intoxicated than the captain on build alone.

"Uh....either way. I went to a clinic and got myself patched up properly. The other arm is bandaged up because Shin can't wire things properly and I ended up electrocuting myself with every Watt the ship had running through its system at the time. Damn near scorched my whole arm."

"Should be back at full strength within a few hours. I think I could have gotten a better job done over in Orthlin but humans have done incredibly well for themselves too."

It was probably the influence of the two shots downed in rapid succession from earlier but Aeva does get loose lipped after having a few. He was nowhere near buzzed yet but the alcohol served his original purpose. It had loosened up.

As a symbol of that, Aeva sighed and relaxed his body (including his wings). He grimaced at the weight of his wing but it felt good to completely relax them once again. He hadn't entered the captain's quarters yet but relaxed, he did take up the entire doorway and then some. Fifty feet worth of muscle and feathers was nothing to laugh at.

It was night, Edison's moon was shining in the sky and city was lighted up by the bright lights of the various insignias of bars, clubs, and casinos. The streets were crowded by either alcoholics, gamblers, and people that only wanted to party. But that didn't stop vehicles from roaming around.. In fact, three black coated cars were speeding on the roads. They were two jeeps and in between them there was a black limousine. They clearly belonged to someone who had a lot of money in their pockets, as the limo was one of the lastest models, it hovered one meter ( three feet ) above the ground making somewhat of a soft hum. The car's windows were obscured to keep privacy inside. They all stopped in front of a bar which had on the right side an arcade. The jeeps car opened and four men exited the cars, two from one, and two from the other. The men were standing at more than 2 meters tall ( 6,5 feet ), they were bulky and dressed in suit and tie, but they clearly had a kevlar vest underneath.

They then surrounded the limo and checked the area, looking for any possible threat, once the area was clear,  they all moved near the back of the limo, and opened the heavy black door.
A woman stepped out, she was quite tall, but not as tall as her bodyguards. She had very expensive overalls, red jacket, blue jeans, and sport shoes. The woman tried to conceal her identity by wearing a pair of black sunglasses.

All of them made their way into the bar. The woman was surrounded by her bodyguards and passed right by the Gallion crew without even noticing them.
The bar was barely full, and was dimly lit by a couple of purple lights hanging from the ceiling and the place was filled by a slim cloud of smoke.. that gave it almost an misterious atmosphere.
The doors of the place swung open as two bodyguards opened both of the swinging doors letting the woman walk in. They soon followed after her. She then proceeded to take a seat right at the counter as a bartender quickly ran up to her, almost tripping over. "Edison's finest" The woman spoke with a calm voice as the bartender started to prepare her the drink.

Jacob watched Willo look over the contract. The man's question about hidden clauses or more so the 'fine print' made Jacob give the man a dull look. Jacob knew who he was dealing with when it came to Willo, more so he knew who his real employer was. Willo was only contracted to him as a body guard, and with this new proposal, if Jacob tried to fuck Willo over in it..... He would loose business with a lot of mercenaries. And for him that would not be good at all.

"The contract is to standard if that's what you're asking." Jacob looked back to the glass window watching as the nurses prepped the area in the next room.

The contract was simple, Willo would be a body guard and caretaker for Mr. Roswell's property, the racer Edison till further notice. But what would shock a lot of people was the pay. The payment a day was insane, it was practically what Willo would have been paid weekly just to protect Jacob. "I expect your best performance." Jacob narrowed his eyes a bit as Shin was lead into the room and took a seat on the examination table. He was now in a light blue smock as the doctors were in their full gear. White masks, gloves and googles.

The first thing the doctor did was a simple check up, checking his eyes, ears and throat. Jacob leaned forward in his seat when the doctor took hold of Shin's left wrist. The man took out a thin long needle that was hooked up to a wire. "Where have you been all this time..." Jacob whispered to himself as he got up from his seat and moved over to the window. He crossed his arms over his chest as he watched the doctor gently guide the needle into Shin's wrist. You could tell Shin felt the stick of the needle, but relaxed a little once the doctor paused in his work.

The doctor looked over to a small screen that started to show coding. Jacob's eyes were now focused on that screen as a hand ran over his lips and chin.

Walker found this a good time to inform Willo in on a few caretaker tricks. "Mr. Barrett...?" He questioned. He walked over to Willo and handed the man another tablet. "This is Edison's new contract." He told the man. "Mr. Edison must follow his contract at all times and must be in your line of sight at all times." Walker pointed to a button on the side of the tablet. "If you have any questions the tablet is programmed to answer..... For instance." Walker cleared his throat a bit and pressed the button. A light beep sounded off before Walker spoke. "Candy." The man said into the tablet.

The tablet beeped once more before pulling up anything in Shin's contract involving candy. "Certain candy's are allowed and within said hours." The voice stated. Then the screen showed what candy's Shin was aloud to have and what times within the day he could have them. "It's a glorified babysitting job really." Walker shrugged as he looked over the screen. He pointed to another button next to the one for questions, "This button will pull up his schedule." Walker pressed it and continued to explain everything. "Right now we are on his scan and repair followed by his chip reset. Now once the chip is reset you will be able to track him as long as he is on Edison or in Edison's space section." The space section only meant the general area around the planet, no further than the last Edison space station. He swiped the screen left to show the Roswell Tower. Most of the tower was light up red while three floors were light up green. "These are the areas Ed is aloud. This floor is the medical floor, the next floor is the Racer quarters and the floor after that is Mr. Roswell's work floor."

Walker took a breath as there was a lot to explain and go over now that he thought about it. "The Racers can't open any doors in the building, upon signing your new contract, that gives you rights to open any doors in the facility. But we wish that you keep Edison within the green highlighted areas."

"Send me the files and reset the chip." Jacob stated as he pressed a button on the side of the wall. The doctor glanced over his shoulder at the mirror and nodded before looking back to shin and what he was doing. Shin on the other hand looked at the mirror with a hint of anger in his eyes. He knew they could see him, but he couldn't see them with the one way mirror in the way. Shin looked back to the doctor as the man moved the needle slowly around inside Shin's wrist. It wasn't as painful as it looked, it was more like an uncomfortable annoyance. You could tell by the look Shin was giving his doctor.

"Do you have any questions Mr. Barrett?" Walker asked.

Jack

“Ultimately, the choice is yours. The medication I can offer you, you must bear in mind, will not take or heal your troubles, but rather mask it.” Jack began, leaning back onto the empty work bench. “Given that. It might, perhaps, be better to approach the crew. I can attempt to act as your council on this, but my usefulness will be limited.” This last bit came with a heavy sigh, Jack’s eyes fixed onto a limp, empty blood bag which lay at their feet amongst the other medical litter.

“I understand that some scars from the past are hard to forget, Adrian.” Jack continued, his voice strained but remaining smooth. “But remember that if you spend all your time looking back, you’ll have no time to look to forward.” Taking in a steady breath, Jack looked to Adrian with soft smile.  “If I were you, I would make use of what is around me, and one shoulder to lean on is not something to ignore. Multiple shoulders, even more so.”

“But, if I may be so bold, I would suggest in being careful who to share with. Some people may not be able to offer sage advice, or even be understanding to your circumstances.” Every war has two sides. Jack straighten, dusting down his creased waist coat with delicate flicks of his wrist, “If you find things becoming too much though, do not hesitate to ask. I am sure I can help you find some rather soothing herbal tea which will help you rest.”

The man nodded this, before gesturing to Val.

“I believe our good doctor would agree. After all, I am simply the hired help.” A laugh tripped off Jack’s tongue, a somewhat jovial interval in the sombre conversation. Placing a hand on Adrian’s shoulder, the nurse than steered the Cardinal towards Val’s bed, greeting his boss with “Good morning, Val. I’m so glad you have decided to join the realm of the living. How’s that head of yours, Hmm?”

@SleepyBuddha

Adrian silently thought on the good doctor's words as he and Val stroked up a conversation. It was true that not every person on board may be able to help him with his issues, but at the very least they should know what those issues are. In this most recent situation just the stress of almost being kidnapped spent Adrian spiralling down. If it had progressed much further Adrian was very afraid of what he may have done to those kidnappers.

Taking a deep breath Adrian brought his downcast eyes up towards Val and a kind fatherly smile returned to his face. He was comforted by Jack's words and he had convinced himself that those visions were part of God's plan for him. If he can be useful to the members of this crew during his pilgrimage then he was duty bound to help them.

" Jack... Val. This whole kidnapping business reminded me, but I don't think my required medical examination and tests were performed before now. If I'm going to be a member of the crew then it would make sense to have my information right?" The Cardinal asked as he gripped the crucifix hanging around his neck with his artificial hand.  In his mind he was repeating a prayer to calm his nerves and let go of the past.

Dax

Occasionally meeting Scarlet’s eyes as she glanced in his direction, Dax happily shifted his sitting position to make room for Rem, before a little later nodding greeting to Aeva. Almost completely ignoring the false angel’s intimidating form, Dax grinned at his two fellow crew mates, lazily motioning for Aeva to join them at the table.

“Ah. Our riders. Ever consistent in ignoring orders, I see.” The man chuckled, glancing at Ross again while Aeva gave an unexpectedly detailed report of the ongoings planet side. “But it’s a relief to hear someone is watching them. They’ll return when they are tired no doubt.” Eyeing Rem, the first mate nodded “Never a dull moment, huh? I have a feeling your brothers will feel right at home with Raven and Charlie.”

With that, Dax returned his eyes to Aeva, listening to the unwarranted medical report before briefly blinking back surprise. “You attended a clinic, here?” Dax queried, “I know that must have cost a pretty penny. Although I can say I am surprised the medical crew didn’t see to you properly when they boarded the ship.” Dax began, gingerly reaching up to investigate the head injury with his fingertips. Even in his numbed state, a dull throb of pain emanated from the injury causing Dax to grimace a little. However, Dax was pleased to note that it has stopped bleeding with coming away dry. “They are normally a thorough bunch, although I can only speculate that we weren’t the highest priority on their list.” Dax chuckled as he recalled the stunned medical assistant’s mannerisms as she spotted Shin, who had looked less than thrilled at the attention.

Pulling his mind away from that particularly hilarious moment, Dax then shrugged and took another sip, this time smaller as he felt the warmth spread further down towards his fingertips. “As for the wiring, well Shin’s always been a little, erm, little eccentric with his work on the Gallion. However, I am sure with a little persuasion, he’ll be happy to assist you. Once we locate him.”

Jack and Charlie coming (slow progress with the later, though. Charlie is harder to write for than anticipated.)
