The youngest son of an elder scion of Gens Amilar, Lucien enjoyed a privileged but sheltered childhood. He grew up amongst the extensive libraries of the house, spending as much time inside them as out and though his parents were disappointed that he never received the dragon's blessings, the potency of the blood running through his veins was enough to grant him the most rudimentary talents with essence channeling. His quiescent lifestyle would have made serving the normal tour of duty more difficult, but with enrollment into the Valkhawsen Academy of Sorcery came deferment and the chance to start out his service as a sorcerer-engineer instead of a soldier. With the finest education and family connections, entrance to the academy was all but assured.

During the week of the Quest, a broken automaton was dredged out of the ruined factory-cathedral below the city and transported into the private workshop of of a senior instructor for later examination. Having caught a glimpse of a female face in the ruined containers of parts as they were transported through the halls, Lucien felt a strange affinity for the wreckage, and couldn't resist the temptation to sneak inside examine it person. As he began to place the parts on a worktable the sense of growing familiarity grew. Piecing it back together went slowly as first, but progress went progressively as flood of insight took over. When he finished and paused to contemplate the completed android that now lay upon the table, the sound of yelling and people running through the corridors finally dawned upon him. The room look different, a warm glow illuminated it, the glow originating from his own body.
Soldiers were standing outside of the doorway, waiting for reinforcements to deal with the Anathema inside. As a Dragon-Blood clad in power armor entered the room the automaton sprung to life and pounced on the Terrestrial, landing on top of the soldier and skidding out of the room on top of him. He was quickly dragged out of the complex by the machine, she managed to evade most of the patrols and knock out the few that stood in the way. Dumped outside of the city via an old forgotten passageway, Lucien managed to find his way to an old neglected family estate where he took some clothing, supplies, and money before vanishing in Nexus. Some of the his family have questioned whether it'd be worth the risk to retrieve him, as the construct was inflicted no major injuries before vanishing, and an un-submitted solution to one of the five theoretical problems posed by the annual Quest was found on the discarded vambrace of general utility. Most amusingly perhaps, is that upon reflection this occurred during the lesson of fire, when he was being pushed to see if he was capable of sorcery.
After some time spent exploring the scavenger lands, Lucien has settled down temporarily in Nexus while he ponders his next step. Attempting to start rebuilding a city back to Shogunate era technology would attract attention that he knows he's scarcely prepared for. He looks for others who might aid him in his quest and considers moving to Whitewall, considering the attitude of the gods who care for the city. For now he runs a small workshop through a Guild intermediary with a talent for discretion, providing plans, maintenance or craft to those with money or a cause.

An orichalcum replica of one of Lucien's main projects from Valkhausen, the integrated essence weapon system is an attempt to give combatants with minimal training some survivability on the battlefield. It resembles a shield the length of the wearer's forearm with prongs a third of the width of the shield extending a hand past. Gyro-stabilizers and essence attunement results in a shield that almost intercepts incoming blows by itself, similar to a thunderbolt shield. Inside the shell is a series of focusing crystals reversed engineered from a power mace, and capable of projecting similar essence beams. There is a single hearthstone socket on the center of the outer face.
