Fandom Private TT Roleplay with Tovaras

Full Name: Akela Sindoore

Alias/Hero Name: Apex

Nickname(s):

Title(s): Coffin-Hauler[pretty self-explanatory]

Gender: Female

Physical Age: 14-15

Actual Age: 17

Species: Human

--

Hair: Dusty black; kept mostly short with random sections a bit longer than other parts; usually messy and unkempt as though she never brushes it.

Eyes: Deep forest green.

Height: 5'7"

Body Description: Kind of unbalanced. She has strong legs, both naturally and as a result of her power. They show as being toned and developed with clear muscles. Her upper legs also support this look by being thick and sturdy. Her lower torso and abdomen is fairly toned but not very much. Then there are her arms, which are spindly noodles along with narrow and small shoulders. This is particularly noticed as she carries around a hulking behemoth of a coffin strapped to her back, two leather straps wrapping around her shoulders which she grasps as though she were hauling a light backpack. While most would not understand her ability to hold said coffin with such little obvious strength being the same coffin is giving her somewhat enhanced physical power. Meaning even though her arms look weak, they're quite strong in their own right, but nowhere near as powerful as her legs.

Other Feature Details: Slightly angular features; pointed chin, mildly prominent cheekbones, short upturned button nose.

--

Accessories: Besides the hulking coffin[which is an entirely different sort of 'accessory'], she carries an old-fashioned pocketwatch with her, usually tucked in a pocket.

Outfits: Her normal clothes and 'hero' outfit are one in the same, mostly because she's not one of those people who have a life outside of being a hero. Normally, she can be found in casual dark-blue/black jeans with a basic black leather belt, a simple black tank top, and a short blue denim-jacket. She wears black hiking boots that reach above her ankles with thick soles. Normally, she doesn't alter her attire much from this. When fighting she may ditch the jacket if it becomes damaged or gets in her way, but this does not happen often due to not using her arms in battle much.

First Impressions: Without joking, due to her rather obvious hindrance, first impressions tend to fall into a few distinct categories. Either pure confusion and shock, horror and fear, or an outright reaction like being approached by the Grim Reaper himself. And this has nothing to do with Akela herself. Barely anyone who first comes across her even notices the girl. All they see is the daunting sight of a horrifying chained coffin looming over them, usually casting a rather foreboding shadow over the small girl hauling the massive object.

Outward Personality/Behavior: Mostly due to the initial reactions she receives due to the coffin, Akela tends to act rather moody. But who wouldn't be cranky if they send people running because of a major inconvenience literally melded with your back? Around friends and other people who know about her 'condition', or maybe they don't and simply do not question the coffin, she's pretty open. She likes being a hero, and it shows in how she acts, putting other first and always rushing off to answer a call for help. Even though she's not a major hero with super cool powers, she makes the most of it and enjoys hanging out with other heroes because that's all they really need to have in common for her to want to be friends with them.

Inner Personality/Behavior: While she's perpetually ticked off about having to haul a trapped demon on her back everywhere she goes, she's mostly learned to live with it. And she secretly likes it sometimes, especially when encountering new villains because they tend to freak out initially. Who wouldn't? And while her outward behavior isn't a farce or anything, she actually be pretty timid. If it weren't for the coffin giving her awkward first-meetings where she has to frantically explain the situation, she'd probably be way more withdrawn and not so open to new people. In a way, her burden has helped be a bit more social, not that she'd ever thank it.

Biography: We're going to skip the vague parts leading up to her fourteenth year. Mostly, everything before is confidential and a 'secret' anyway, so there's no reason for you to know it either. [Totally not because I don't have that part worked out yet.] So, when Akela was fourteen, she was also in tenth grade, planning on graduating from highschool in just under two years. By that time, she was used to her developed superpower called 'Apex Leap', which basically just gives her enhanced jumping capabilities. Nothing too special, but she was happy with it and enjoyed having it. Since realizing she had this power, which surfaced when she turned twelve, she had considered becoming a young hero like the Teen Titans which she idolized. But for the most part, she never thought her power was useful enough to justify fighting villains and helping keeping others safe. Akela was almost certain she would never fully follow this whimsical dream either. However, this drastically changed one day on her way home from school.

Akela had been walking through the concrete jungle which separated her from the suburbs which she called home. Suddenly, hearing rumbling in the distance, sounds of fighting it seemed, her attention was drawn. For the most part, super fights had not occurred too close to where she lived, or she always happened to be someplace else only to hear about it on the news later. So when she noticed that a fight between the Teen Titans and the H.I.V.E. was going down just blocks away, Akela couldn't help herself. Instead of running home or going someplace safe, she ran towards the fight. In a way, she'd learn to regret and thank her decision later. Approaching the fight, she saw that it wasn't just the H.I.V.E. Five and the Teen Titans. It looked like the titans were teamed up with Batman and an unknown 'hero' while the H.I.V.E. seemed to be under the control of a unknown dark wizard. And as Akela arrived, the dark wizard was channeling some sort of spell to open a weird portal.

Long story short, the portal brought forth demons from another world, the wizard bent on them possessing the Teen Titans and making them dark slaves just like the H.I.V.E. Five. Instead, Akela decided to 'help' by jumping right in the way at the worst possible time. This lead to one of the demons possessing her in place of one of the titans. The fight continued on with her under the control of the dark wizard and it wasn't until Batman finally subdued the wizard that all those being controlled were able to be helped. While the H.I.V.E. were easy enough to separate, the demon holding on to Akela was especially strong and would not let go. The titans managed to pull most of the demon out, but the last bit clinging to her heart would not budge. The other 'hero' with them turned out to be John Constantine, as he had been the one to seek the titans' help, along with Batman. While he also could not remove the demon, he did offer a solution, albeit rather inconvenient.

Most of the demon was trapped outside of Akela's body. The container formed a horrific-looking coffin which rested upon her back, and chained to contain the demon. Constantine warned Akela that this solution was not foolproof, emphasizing 'fool' to ensure she understood that she was a downright idiot for jumping into the fray as she did. The coffin would keep the demon at bay, but its hold on her heart would not be easily ignored. While it could not corrupt her trapped as it was, if it ever escaped, it would not only possess her again, but it would not be able to removed as easily, if at all. She went her own way after the whole incident, having to live with the hulking object on her back. It wasn't long after she decided to become a hero like the Teen Titans. It seemed that while the trapped demon was not able to control her, it did leave an impression on her body. She discovered that her strength and durability had become a bit enhanced, just enough for her to notice. This came in handy when fighting since all she had to fight were her legs and some martial arts.

The next couple years went by fairly simply. Akela wasn't a big hero, and only seemed to help with small things like capturing thieves and stopping bank robberies. No real villains came close enough to her city for her to fight. Sometimes she would venture to Jump City and assist the titans if need be, but they mostly had it handled. There was one incident[basically our last roleplay], where she teamed up with them and the H.I.V.E. Five against a major threat. Another solo hero worked with them to defeat the villain. During the final battle, she took a blast at point-blank. It mostly hit the coffin, which she didn't think was a big deal, being magic and all. However, turned out it wasn't fully invincible as she thought. The smallest of cracks appeared in its hull, much to her horror. She fully expected the trapped demon to burst forth and take over her body again. But it seemed that the demon's body was more physical than ethereal as she thought. So it remained contained. That is, until she noticed some dark essence seeping out of the crack. Most of the time, Akela wraps duct tape over the crack, but the essence usually disintegrates the tape within a week. The corruption is light, but she has seen how it kills plant life nearby and has even caused small cases of bad luck. She has tried to contact Batman or John Constantine, but both have been unresponsive for months. Akela worries what will happen if the crack gets any bigger. Will the demon be set free?

Family Details: Unknown

Friend(s): Friendly with most of the Teen Titans and some other heroes of other cities. She is also friends with Ignis[your OC].

Rival(s): Not much for rivals, especially since she works alone and doesn't interact with other heroes that seem to bring forth any sort of rivalry.

Enemy(ies): Just the typical, any villain who threatens innocents and causes problems near her.

--

Status: Alive / Active

Hometown/Homeworld: Unknown / Undetermined

Current Residence: Probably gonna have her be one of those who travels around, not really tethered to one city or anything. Plus, she doesn't have a base of operations.

Occupation: Hero

~~

Power: Apex Leap

Power Origins: She was born with it. Her parents were superhumans though, at least, that's what she tells people.

Power Strengths: It's great for quickly getting out of range of an opponent that is not easy to reach. Since it's almost instant, she can move quickly in any direction. While it's not really meant for aerial movement for long, she can use it to reach a airborne opponent, hopefully to bring them down to her level. Also, due to her leg strength, she can use it to amp up her kicks when fighting. If falling from any height, she can activate it midair[given she had not already used the three jump max].

Power Weaknesses: It has a limit of three jumps after the initial leap. So once she kicks off from the ground, she can land in the air at any point in time before jumping again. But once she hits three times, her power cancels out and she will simply fall, unable to activate it again until she lands on something solid again. Also, besides jumping and enhancing her kicks, it really isn't good for much else.

--

Basic Skills: To make up for the lack of true power she possesses from her Apex Leap, she has learned basic fighting techniques. She couldn't compare to Robin or Batman, of course, but she can hold her own in a fight. Also, she has somewhat adapted to using the massive coffin on her back for some defense against power attacks, but since she can't remove it from its place, anything offensive is out of the question.

Weapon(s): Since the coffin doesn't count, nothing.

The day was nice enough to start out. Not too cold and windy for the third week into Autumn. Last year they had already experienced two cold-snaps by this time. Akela had planned on enjoying her patrol, not having to bundle up quite yet in warmer gear. However, it seemed Autumn brought forth a very different kind of obstacle. Even though crime was as frequent as any semi-major city these days, it was rare for Akela to hear such blood-curdling screams. The shouts of panic and confusion following had her sprinting at top-speed to the site of the incident.

They were just lying there, shivering terribly on the heated asphalt. Ten or so people had collapsed on the ground mid-step as they strolled through the city to and from destinations. None of the nearby witnesses could explain the phenomenon, and it wasn't until the paramedics arrived when the full realization of the issue came to light. Akela was horrified to find out the ten random people, unrelated to one another in every way, had all suddenly contracted a deadly virus. She couldn't repeat the name, it was one of the long scientific terms, but basically it caused them to develop intense shivers as though they were extremely cold. None of them possessed any previous signs of the virus, and there did not seem to be any correlation between the people and the time they contracted it.

Akela, while worried for the citizens who were so abruptly ill, did not put anything together until the next five cases in a row were announced. The diseases were all different, most of them technically 'curable', but horrible in their own right. Each instance provided no clues to the origin point of the illnesses, and just like the first, the people abruptly contracted them in an instant. Right in the open, with so many witnesses, yet it only affected small groups at a time. And then she saw one of Them. Akela couldn't place her finger on why it looked familiar, but brief flashes of her highschool history class quickly brought a reminder. The Black Plague. Doctors during the time wore masks similar to the dark being she had seen adorning one. Then another, and another, each one at a site where the illnesses broke out. She couldn't prove it, but it was becoming obvious of how serious a situation this was turning out to be. And without any more information, there would be no way for her to help the people. Once again, it was time to visit her allies; the Teen Titans.

Ignis was enjoying his time away from intense danger. The season was nearing its peak and he loved it. Autumn was the season for old life ending in plants. The wind was calm and the heat low. After such a hot summer, he was glad feel the coolness. But even in this time of peace, danger stirred.

Ignis was walking in the streets of the rural town, minding to himself, when he saw seven ambulances rushing together. In all his time he had never seen that many emergency vehicles needed. He rushed after them, only to discover the tragic scene. About a dozen people lain in the streets, their body plagued with red spots. An outbreak of some sort? But to come so suddenly. Ignis pondered on this as he left, walking on further. Time passed and more incidents popped up. This couldn't be something random.

Ignis looked into medical records and came to the closest observation, small pox. But it had been so long since an outbreak so severe occured. He kept track of all cases. Within days entire towns had it and people were dying. That's when he noticed something odd... There were plague doctors at every scene, every single one.

Ignis took this as a bad sign and knew his only option was to talk to the Titans. At times like this, he appreciated the allies.

It took a whole day of traveling to reach Jump City. Akela's home lay in the suburbs on the far side, not as far as some, but enough. She had left early in the morning, just after dawn, and was only now arriving an hour before dusk. Not wanting to exhaust herself, and also not having a better mode of transportation, she had taken the bus to the train station and the train to the closest stop in Jump City. From there she used her Apex Leap ability to cut the travel time in half. As she arrived on the steps of the Teen Titans' tower, she noticed the uproar right away.

Akela had called ahead to inform the Titans of her visit. The transmission had been short, but she had never seen Robin so stressed. This only meant the outbreak of illnesses had not been an isolated incident, at all. Entering the main section of the tower, she froze at the chaotic sight. It wasn't just the Titan team she knew personally. It looked as though every young hero within a hundred-mile radius had traveled here. Titans East and notable Honorary Titans were also present, each one as stressed as the next. Akela knew this circumstance of diseases was definitely a cause for alarm, but perhaps she was missing something bigger. Not wanting to just jump in without regard, she approached one of the monitors that Cyborg, Aqualad, and BumbleBee were scrutinizing. A world map with about a thousand red markers had been pulled up. Panic began to settle in her stomach. What the hell was happening?

Ignis drove from his rural town to the home of the Titans, Jump City. It took about 4 hours of nonstop driving but he arrived just before 3 in the afternoon. He parked across from the islanded 'T' and made an ice bridge to the tower by throwing a dagger with ice embedded in the handle. He could have teleported if he knew how to but he did what he could.

Upon stepping off his bridge he noticed the hassle just to get in. Tons of other heroes filled the room of the tower. Most he didn't know but he saw Akela, an old ally and friend, huddled around a monitor. He stepped beside her as Cyborg talked.

Cyborg pointed to several of the largest dots. "These cities have been infested with the worst of diseases and have the highest death. But elsewhere we have crops being destroyed and land turning rotten. This ain't good."

Everyone was in a bustle until they heard the voice of the unprecedented leader, Robin.

Akela absently adjusted a shoulder strap holding the hulking coffin upon her back. Sometimes she forgot it was there and had to remind herself that not only was it an eyesore, but took up quite a bit of space, three feet over her head and about a foot and a half on either side. She didn't want to be in anyone's way, but sometimes it couldn't be helped. As she listened to Cyborg's words, she peered around again. A familiar face had arrived. She offered a small wave in greeting, but it wasn't the time to catch up. The spiky-haired leader of the Teen Titans had brought up a bigger screen and was drawing the attention of everyone.

"Listen up," he spoke firmly. The others that had been talking stopped and turned to face the front. The world map Cyborg had been studying appeared on the screen. "Unfortunately, whatever we had been speculating is false. It's much worse. These incidents are not random or natural. The whole world is under attack. Reports from all over have collaborated and it looks like we have four main sources." The screen changed to live video segments around the world. From the states to Europe, all the way down in Australia to South America and Africa. Each scene showed big-time and small-time heroes combating hoards of unknown hostiles. In two shots war-torn soldiers with horrific and outdated weapons lay siege on metropolises. Others showed figures that looked like the walking dead tearing through citizens. In others still swarms of locusts and rats plagued the populace.

The room was filled with shocked gasps and murmurs from the young heroes. It wasn't just their own homes that were being subjected to horrors. And some looked far worse. Akela gritted her teeth. She was about to open her mouth and ask just what was the actual cause, but Robin spoke with the answer first.
"According to those closest to the sources of the incidents, our enemies call themselves the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse."

Ignis smiled at Akela's waved and waved back. Then he heard the briefing start and watched the scenes, horrified and shocked. It was madness, madness he never imagined. Robin's words drained out as the clips were Ignis's focus until the source was named.

The Four Horsemem Of The Apocolypse? That's insane but the proof was right there.

"What do we do?" Ignis asked aloud, speaking what he assumed everyone was thinking. Cyborg stepped up beside Robin to answer that.

"After a lot of calculating, we've decided to split forces and attack each of the Horseman at the same time. Anyonr we know who specifically could be of help against a Horseman already has attacked. The rest of you can honestly attack any. So.we'll divide the room into fourths."

With that, he called out portions of the room. Ignis and Akela were to face Pestilence, the disease baring Horseman. Along with other heroes of course. Ignis stood beside Akela as the briefing neared its end.

Un-freakin'-believable. Akela might have been able to come up with a more eloquent word to describe the situation, but at the moment, her thoughts were far too scrambled. Horsemen. The apocalypse. It seemed like something out of a bad horror movie, or maybe even a good one. This was on a whole other scale than anything she's ever heard or seen before. The whole world was in danger, being attacked simultaneously by what had been mere figments of imagination just a week ago. It was quite a lot to absorb.

Before Akela could finish processing the information, Ignis had spoken up with a question that seemed to linger above everyone. As Cyborg came up and began giving stations, Akela tried to focus. She looked over as Ignis came to stand beside her. Pestilence would be their opponent. Diseases, illness, viruses, plague. Her eyes narrowed as she recalled the collapsed, shivering citizens back home. And not just them, people all over were going to die if they didn't stop this. Besides her and Ignis, it seemed the main team of Titans were all going to face Pestilence. The others were placed in compatible groups and sent to assist others elsewhere. Since there seemed to be no time to spare, and there was traveling to do, most of the groups emptied out.

Akela tapped her fingers anxiously against her shoulder straps as she thought. It had been a while since she worked with others. She could adapt fairly well, but her power wasn't particularly strong or useful in the long run. If anything, she'd be decent on assisting. Gnawing on her lip, she turned to Ignis with a tense look.
"I don't know about you, but it's going to be pretty difficult fighting disease," she said. "I was told that I couldn't beat a cold away, but it looks like this is exactly what we have to do."

Ignis looked at Akela as she spoke. He smiled softly as he reassured her.
"Maybe. But you're tough, Akela. Even the deity of Disease won't sicken you. Besides, that was years ago." He said softly, joke or not.

As the tower emptied he began walking. "You can ride with me if you want. It'll be faster. Our target isn't too far away anyhow." Pestilence was just outside of Jump City. By triangulating major outbreaks the Titans found the most likely spot they Horsemen would all be. Everyone was quick to move.

(sorry. got busy.)
