Primordial Corrupted Dragon-Blooded

I know this idea is not cannon and that Dragon-Blooded aren't supposed to be corruptible at least at their essence, but I have been running a story that has DB's getting defeated by my PC Solars.  I want them to join up with the Abyssals in the local area that are going to be the main adversaries for the Solars in the story.  My problem is that other than vengeance for losing 2 of their 5 bonded brothers there is no real reason for them to join the Abyssals.  They can get the Wyld hunt to at least investigate the Solars activity, of course I could make it that they can't.

My idea however is that the Abyssal is able to offer the DB's some sort of power beyond what they currently have.  Charms, spells, that sort of thing.  the idea would be that by pledging their loyalty to a Deathlord they are given some power greater than their DB essence could usually obtain.  I am thinking this is possible through the use of the Primordials uber nature.  My idea is that whatever power would be given would be on par with Sidereal and lunar power, focused mainly on destruction.

My question is does any one have suggestions either about improving the idea or about stuff that I could look at that i could add?  I could see learning necromancy as being potential.  I could see maybe just binding a powerful spirit to the DB thereby giving the db access to db charms as well as arconi as the ghost rides the db.

Loyalty to a Deathlord could net a bunch of DBs HUGE troves of Artifacts, access to necromantic and sorcerous lore, as well as a fat paycheck.

Is that motivation enough for your DBs to do it? If not, I might suggest judicious use of Threefold Binding of the Heart.

I made a DB NPC once that was the servant of the Deathlord. He was an albino Earth Aspect that was born in a shadowland and raised as a servant to the Mask of Winters. He was kept in line by a Soulsteel slave collar that sapped his will to resist, and allowed his Abyssal handlers to inflict pain on him for disobedience.

He had no proper name, but was called The White Churl.

That might just do it.  I was thinking more in the way of charms, but really the right spells and abyssal hearthstones with the right artifacts could make a DB much more powerful than they were before since the abyssal artifacts and spells deal with death dealing.

Any suggestions on the ghost riding of a Dragon-Blooded?  I breifly read Ebony and Bone's mention of this that ghost can rid ehumans and take damage for them and use arconi.

What if the Deathlord had discovered a method for letting nemissaries riding living hosts? Sort of like the way MoW animates Juggernaut. He binds a nemissary to each arm, each leg and the torso of the Dragonblood making him much stronger, faster and resilient. He can probably make use of their arcanoi too at the same time as he uses his own charms.

How about using an artifact similar to Brigids Mantle that gives the DB access to powers they normally wouldn't have? It also gives your players something to try and get off the DB if they manage to figure out how they got so powerful.

There's also the rules for spirits joining with Dragon Kings, surely they could be adapted for your game?

The spirit 'ride' charm is one way for them to get unspeakable power...

The other is... dum dum dum... from the Player's Guide... the spirit charm that makes good exalts into akumae, only it's available to Deathlords and or the Neverborn.

Think about what that would mean for a DB who is willing to sell away his name for Unspeakable Powers!

In our game the GM came up with a type of Spirit possession for pre-Exalt DB teen's.  The Spirit 'possess' them in a sence similer to Exaltation, then it consumes the latant Exalted Essence.  The result is a being that consumes Essence and becomes the perfict foil to DB's as their Essence gets eaten up before all the boosting Charms get in place.

A power like this would also slow down Solars as they have to spend lots more Essence to get the big Charms off.

That's just plain nasty... an essence vampire... I like it.

So whose running the show? The spirit or the kid or some unholy almagamation of the two?

The kid is in charge, but for the first week or two the kid is very unstable and extreamly viloent.  Of couse this has a tendency to shape their personality a bit afterwards.  My Eclipse in this game is rounding the kids up and trying to influance them towards a less Deathlord controlled fate.  Or I am playing right into his hands, don't know which.

I don't see why there shouldn't be many Dragon-Blooded in the service of the Deathlords.  After all, there are Outcaste Db's everywhere, and living people can and do live in the Underworld and in Shadowlands.  With some powerful sorceries, I can see their Essence getting corrupted to use Soulsteel weapons.  Sort of a low power Abyssal, but more numerous than the handfuls of Deathknights in service.  Hmmmm, why not?

The Deathlords were given the knowledge to corrupt Solar essences but the  ability to corrupt other essences is a secret held by the Yozis only. However there is no reason why a Db can't work for a Deathlord, there's a Sidereal that does.

There's likely lots of DBs that work for sundry Deathlords, but they don't change their powers, much as 10kV and the Green Lady retain their Siddie characteristics despite belonging to the Iron quasi-Faction.

For STs who want to stick to canonical material (while breaking canon), giving DBs who serve the Deathlords access to Shadowlands Circle necromancy, arcanoi, and non-Immaculate Celestial MA can serve to stir things up.

Since there are a few hundred million inhabitant to Creation, and one in five or ten thousand of them are DB's, that means that there are between 30,000 and 80,000 DB's in Creation (probably closer to the lower number).  If there are not a thousand DB's working directly or indirectly for the Deathlords, I would be surprised.

Does not one of the books give a rough estimate of how many DBs there are? I seem to remember it being somewhere arounf 11,000.

It's noted in the DB book, I believe, as well as the Outcaste book that there are about 10,000 DBs in the Realm (due to population control by her Redness), and at least 3000 DBs in Lookshy alone (total population = 300,000, and with 1 in 100 a DB). This is not counting the various outcastes like the Forest Witches or the Grass Spider assassin group and other clans of DBs out there.

And Haku once again proves his worth as my back up memory...

Another round on me if you roll into the Happy Valley.

At this rate, you'll end up buying me a bar if I should ever visit you...

heh... indeed...

By the way... I've got a small problem with regards hosting your Modernis Redux stuff... mainly to do with the file format of the doc that you sent me.

I'm using MS Word 97 and it's having trouble with your document and requires extensive work to covert over to html format, to the degree that... it's making me go blarg...

I would appreciate it if you could resent the document to the same address (biigoh at gmail dot com) as a rtf document.

This just requires you to save the document as a richtext document and would make it easier for me to convert it.

Sorry for not saying sooner... but I kind of couldn't keep working on it/converting, correcting the errors that popped up when I use word 97 on it...

I should have some time later in the week to do so. Got a few days off this week thanks to merciful Kitchen Gods--and a lull in events schedules.

The only possible monkey wrench is if GameFly sends me that copy of Advent Rising or Gengi that I requested...
