Fandom Pre-Origins Dragon Age RP

Hey!

So I was just wondering if there was anyone out there that would like to partake in an advanced roleplay based on Dragon Age Origins? I just beat Origins for the second time, and I've yet to play the others, so in the spirit of minimal spoilers, I was thinking of doing a pre-Origins based plot. Perhaps even an alternate universe to Origins, occurring at roughly the same time if the events of the game had not occurred.

Although I was thinking we could tweak canon details to suit our liking. One setting for the plot could be the blight prior to Origins, which would be four centuries before. I'd like griffons to be included, and although dragons were not tame at this point, I was hoping we could add our own spin on dragons and their roles with the characters. Anyway, I really just want to explore the map of Ferelden more than the game allowed.

If you are interested, feel free to post here and perhaps we can work out some plot details if enough people want to do this.​

I'm interested but would only commit if a definite story line was put in place. Free form roleplays give me anxiety.

Is it a DA elf? You can always make adjustments if its just a regular fantasy elf, but I'm just curious!


So for the plot I'm definitely thinking it should occur during the blight prior to Origins. I was thinking our group of characters could be a part of a larger joining. Perhaps a last attempt to increase the wardens numbers on the verge of the blight. What do you all think of this being the premise of the rp?

I know you had a vision in mind of a pre-Origins storyline, is that set in stone or are you willing to consider a post Inquisition Storyline as well? Just want to make sure before I start digging into DA's lore again

I think the old Blight is a great premise. It lends itself to a lot of possibility AND so much potential angst. Like so much.

As for travelling, I was thinking perhaps Orlais would be a primary destination, to seek out other grey wardens for help against the blight.

Ok, that's fair. I would suggest the Fourth Blight then. It seemed things were the most dire then outside of the DA games. The chantry just finished a full scale Exalted March against the Tevinter Imperium so everyone was tired and off guard when they got broadsided by the darkspawns. Sounds like fun stuff that would fit right into the dire and impending doom stuff of DA, while providing a lot of opportunity for character growth and such.

@PaperGhosts A few different ideas... Either a dwarf from Orzammar (No suprise xD ) or a human Templar turned warden with a forced yet not forced reason for becoming a grey warden. A tough choice but I have a couple character ideas in mind.

She is a DA elf (i said elvehn, since she's one of the elves from when they still had their immortality, and her story starts quite a bit pre-origins. ^^ ) She'd be more similar to the dalish than the city elves.

Care to revive this together? I think a plot further exploring what we discovered during the Dryden quest (can't remember the official name for some reason, but you must remember Sophia Dryden and the warden scandal) or during the fourth blight would work well. I've always been interested in expanding on the political intrigue leading up to the expulsion of the wardens but if you think plain fourth blight would allow for a broader range of characters I could work with that.
