Jane nearly choked. Literally almost choked on air and threw her hand, small but strong, right onto Tidal's collar and lifted up a tad bit. She glared a glare of death! "Triple date? Whats that supposed to mean, scruffy cat lady?" She took offense! Not actual offense but Jane level offense. She isn't dating anyone. And if she is she doesn't need someone to tell her she is. If not for self control and a sense of rightness, Tidal would be a puddle on the floor!! And the ceiling. Where's a Megazord leg when you need one?
Max chuckled, fine with the entire idea since it can be friendly. "I'm okay with it. Either way, Tidal.... you're alone." BURN. TIDAL NEEDS ALOE FOR THAT. Friends talk weird do they not? Jane nearly died laughing.

Max' flustering made Olivia fluster back because only after all of the commentary had she picked up on everything. Social cues were not her thing. Analytics and strategy are her thing. Opening up to a group of people who saw you past your birthday being attacked and your memory being suppressed is not enough for Olivia to get the picture in certain things. The ditzy factor reigns supreme once again. Add it onto extreme reaction from the fiery tomboy on a triple date and a fire comeback from the soldier and it's all a mess. Quietly she cleared her throat, unable how to respond to a 'burn' if that's what it is called. "I would like that, Lucas. Really," she said with a faint smile. So they're all off, then?

With Calvin's reassuring words, Drew cracked a huge smile and took the shake well. He's realized something, too, here. He never wants to have to fight one of his friends again. It's maybe some of the scariest shit to be thrown into. Also, spitting a plan out of nowhere is a convenient yet risky thing when the person you're planning with is a little upset to begin with and is easily triggered by a lack of concern on the surface. He's been thrown into this Ranger deal but he's grown into it nicely. If ranks of command have to be given, Calvin is definitely at the top with him. Ranking the other four would only spark an argument and maybe hurt feelings so equality in the Bio Strike team is the ultimate way to go! Drew let out a hefty sigh of relief for the day being over and he can Calvin being cool. Captain Scott was glad his two Rangers were fine and cooperative. He'll trust there is no further disruptions like this. Personal matters can really stick a fork in the road if you're not careful. But that same fork led them to be captured by chance and save a bunch of people so there's a happy ending on multiple plains. "Let's say we get you in the Battlizer for a joy ride. Off the record, Captain?" Drew asked. Calvin may be not upset over that exactly but who wouldn't want to fly around? The Captain had that look of 'no' but Olivia poked in the hall.
"We were all going to grab a drink while Max and Evie are on a date. I believe they're going on a date, yes? Anyhow, come along! The fighters are gonna fight tonight anyway and the match will be on," she said.
Drew pinched his brow the same way Jane did a minute ago. Why is she like this? She's great but why is she like this?
"Sounds fun, Liv. Calvin, change of plans. If Red Rocker wins, you buy me a drink, and if Green Gutbuster wins, you fly the Battlizer. Game set match!" Drew said, off to join the others as they venture out into Inezia city.

Captain Scott left behind with a grin on his face. Wilson approached him while watching the Rangers and company walk away. "They are a fine bunch of young people are't they?" the good doctor asked. A superb unit of soldiers and a team of friends. They can't lose so long as they're together.
"Indeed. They deserve a night out. Bio Blood is going to be trouble. Let them have their fun before we tell them about the attacks elsewhere and how bad they're getting. We're losing cities. Pretty soon this war will be at its last stretch. God only knows if we'll make it through. These Rangers just might be all we have to hope for," he said. Leaving it on a grim note, Wilson agreed and watched the Rangers rally for one last night out. It's about to get really bad for Inezia. For Earth... what's left of it, anyhow. The cities are going down.

Meanwhile on board the ship, Splica received a faint anomaly in space. A familiar signal reaching out from a nearby system. "He's out there, still? No matter. I've already got my eyes on you," she said. What could she be talking about? The signal. He? Her eyes locked onto a visual on screen. The settled location where she will make the first major encampment...on Earth.

Arc 34: A Yellow Rose

It would appear that summer had come at last. Or was nearly there, really. It was bright ans sunny outside, with a mostly clear sky and birds singing in the trees. All in all just a perfect, beautiful, and peaceful day. As peaceful as things can get with the ever increasing Armada threat outside the domes, that is. Days had gone by since Blood had been sighted, and Lucas felt relieved. Certainly the others were feeling the same since their last encounter with him. The injuries from being shot and slashed at had healed, but the memories definitely remained. Next time they'd face Blood.... Then what? They'd kick him, he'd kick back. Blood was a villain to watch out for, one to stay until the very end. Lucas remembered his threat to Eveline, as well as the direct attack, and he wouldn't ever forgive it. That had been the second time the Armada had directly threatened her life, and it was two too many. If he'd lose his sister... Lucas might well fall apart. She was the last bit of family he cared to hold on to. And losing two of the most important females in his life...

"Seven years gone by..." Lucas sighed softly and looked at the picture of the brightly smiling brown haired girl on the shelf. "Sometimes I wonder where you would've been now." It was so hard to believe, and so strange, that Lucielle had died so long ago already. He remembered how they were just hanging out when she got sick so suddenly. And never recovered. How lost he had felt when suddenly she was gone so shortly after Evie was placed in Foster Care miles away from them. A family torn apart, and his oldest friend gone from the world, forever. Though ever peaceful on the outside, there was a lot of turmoil going on in Lucas' mind. Perhaps it was just because of today, the memories that this day brought back. Much like now, it had seemingly been a perfectly normal day then as well. Until the doorbell rand and it felt like his entire world just collapsed. He felt an icy chill down his spine and shook his head. No, Lucy wouldn't want him to feel sad all day. She'd want him to keep smiling, to go out and celebrate life. Do something crazy and don't let the world get at him. But she'd probably also side with Evie and slap the ever-living shit out of him for still not having opened up to the others. Speaking of his sister, Evie walked into the room, yawning loudly and stretching lazily.
"Seven years, huh?" she walked over and rested her elbow on his shoulder. "I couldn't believe it when you told me, and I still can't believe it now."
"I'm sorry you couldn't be there," Lucas glanced at his sister and smiled sadly. Eveline tried shrugging it off, but the thought was getting at her as well.
She opened a drawer and took out a small photo album with pictures of the childhood they'd all spend together.

The twins off to their first day of kindergarten, afternoons at the playground, at the local pool. Twins joined by a third child on their first day of primary school. Play dates, birthday parties, sleepovers even though they were neighbors. Scraped knees, bikes in ditches, three kids covered head to toe in mud. over the course of the pictures the children got older, aged into middle school, then high school. Many memories of crazy plans, the antics of young teens trying to figure out how far they could go without getting into too much trouble. Then a picture of just Lucas and Lucy, on the first day of Junior High. Evie grimaced, quickly flipping through the remaining photo's without really looking at them. Memories just for Lucas, of the time she was no longer around. And although Evie wasn't really looking at the pictures anymore, she still spotted details. Lucy in a bed near a window, with a vase of bright yellow roses on the table beside her.
"We should get her some of those," Evie said suddenly, placing the photo album aside. "Yellow roses. They were her favorite, weren't they?"
Lucas nodded. "Yes. Indeed they were." Lucy's mother was a florist. The two of them could spend hours on end talking about flowers and their meanings. Lucas remembered Lucy teaching him the meaning of a rose's colors. Every single one of them had a unique meaning. Yellow symbolized friendship, joy, and good health. The irony is bitter there.
"Ya know, sis? I agree. We should get her some nice flowers today," Lucas nodded, still a little chilled with all the memories running through his mind right now. "Let's spend today doing what Lucielle loved the most. Appreciate life and friendships. And just have fun."

The twins headed out of the apartment, making their way into the city. A nice distraction from that last photograph in the album, now opened on the table. A ginger teen, with a smile on his face that didn't quite reach his eyes. Ready for his first day of Senior High. Alone.

So the amps had been given to Blood for him to use as he saw fit. All the little things that would make them tick, to get into their heads and use the things they feared most against them. Clever, and most certainly evil. Whatever was needed to get the colorful pests out of their way once and for all. Part two of whatever plan the Empress was hatching today, however, was far less sinister, and seemingly unrelated to the amps at all. The robotic life form entered the Throne Room with enthusiasm. "It's boom time! Dynatron is the name, explosions are my game!" Dynatron laughed, showing off the large shiny blasters on his arms. Dynatron, as his name might suggest, appeared to be largely covered in dynamite. And he seemed all too trigger happy. Explosions, chaos, and destruction were everything he was about. The sooner he'd get to blow things up, the better it would be.
Dynatron bowed to the Empress. "My Lady, tell me where and when to start and I will not stop until the entire city is nothing but blazing ruins."

Actera looked up from her console, glancing at Dynatron with a frown under her goggles. Interesting appearance, this one was. All that was missing was this creature to blow up some Dytrons to show dominance. His name was similar to the disposable robots. Hopefully he'd fare better in battle and not prove to merely be cannon fodder. Dynatron didn't appear to be the sharpest tool in the shed. He might get way ahead of himself and end up being prematurely blown to pieces by the rangers himself, rather than him blowing up the rangers. Such is how it's always gone so far. The colorful pests just keep blowing up whatever they throw their way. With the exception for Blood and the generals themselves. And of course the Empress. She's invincible. Ah well... at least Dynatron looked like he was capable of dealing a lot of damage. Who knows what he might bring down today.
---
It was such a nice and sunny day out. Nice and warm, sunny and cheerful. You'd almost forget you live underneath a dome, in a city where almost everything nice is simulated. Where the weather is fake because the real sky looks like hell due to pollution. Ah, way to keep a realistic outlook on things. Tidal's been living in the city for long enough, but on days like this he couldn't help but feel a certain bitterness. Days like these made all the people so happy and carefree. While just outside of their safe little spheres people were suffering, trying so desperately to survive and praying they'd live to see another day. It wasn't that he begrudged the people for being happy, but... okay maybe he did a little bit. He'd seen both sides of the coin, lived on both sides of the wall. If one day he'd be able to do something for the people out there... to make their days better and give them a better future... oh wait, that's exactly what he's doing already. Being a Ranger, saving the world from the Armada one robot or alien at the time. But what when all of this would be over? What would happen to the people then? The stragglers in the Wasteland were his people.

Trying not to ponder too much on this all, Tidal was taking a stroll through the city, doing his best to enjoy the happiness of the other people, and to brighten his own mood a bit as well. He was at the park now, watching from some distance as a group of little children were playing... what seemed to be Power Rangers. Same kids Lucas and Olivia encountered a while back? Might as well be. Okay, that did bring a smile to his face and warm his cold emotionless heart. Not as much as kittens did, but still. Being confronted with how much hope they were bringing to the children of Earth was a beautiful thing.

Volmour contracted simulations in which Blood's amps would target the Rangers one by one. Something for each of them to be internally destroyed over that would result in victory for the Rexian Armada once and for all. He dare not question his Empress' wishes for a Ranger of her own to be the tool in solving their problem but machines are the way to go. Infinite stamina, always adaptable and superior in every way. No emotion to step in the way. Heartless killers like Blood have emotions, too, no matter how deep they are buried. Erosion of the mind over time will reveal all secrets in due time. It will be interesting to see it all play out given Desomax' failure at physically destroying the team for Earth with past monsters and combatants. Contradictory to what he just thought about, an enthusiastic robot with emotion debuted in the throne room with big blasters and explosives along his body. Dynatron, he is called. "A machine built with the likelihood of prematurely detonating before the Rangers lay a hand on him? Suicide bombers aren't how we do things, but if it gets rid of those Power Rangers I support this to the end, my lady. It was simple enough to build, anyhow." He definitely had a hand in building this thing. How could the robot not build other robots? Boom time, it is, for this robot will blow the Rangers away...literally.

Summer's basically here. Calvin's brother in the weather system could confirm that. Not exactly the summer season yet but it's the point where everyone says it is unofficially. School for Jane is practically over. She's done, but not until the fat lady sings. The fat lady being other student and the singing being taking all final exams. The year's really gone by kind of strange. At a random point when life was normal as it could be for her she becomes a super hero with no formal training. Her dad's a former military officer living on retirement like so few can nowadays. Retiring like the world is the way it is does not seem possible but surprise, her dad is. Keeping the secret from him and her family is relative-ly easy. Puns are like really fun to do when naturally worked into a sentence. Transition from a family pun to new family, her sister's wedding is almost here. These past few months have been really long and the city's seen more than it ever has before. Hasn't stopped wedding planning, though. A lot of catering and music, renting a church out with a bunch of ugly dresses Jane's had to try on. All of them either got returned for changing or got...lost. Is that a lot of money being wasted? Yes, but a pants suit would be so much better. Giving Jane a dress is like giving a feral cat a human baby. It's going to be ugly really really fast. She isn't maiden of honor, at least, which has given her a lot of time to just kick back on campus with her laptop playing a new beta version of a game that's coming out soon. Just out in the open on a picnic table as other people walk around. Lucas knows about the beta, too, right? She's sure he has gotten access too it. The company she works with in testing the game for sure sent him a code. They need to go online together. For gamers, they don't game together. Like ever.
"What's that smell?" Jane asked herself. Oh yeah...that floral shop around the corner. Flowers don't have that strong of a smell but damn today is the day for flowers to be out on display. Is that just pollen in the air?

The follow up on the big group 'date' shows it was good. Everyone had an okay time, more or less. The fight on TV was good. Red Rocker won. Son of a bitch... Calvin had to buy Drew a drink. Good for cheers-ing but he kind of wanted to pilot the Battlizer since the offer was there. Another struggle for another time. The hardware of their powers intrigues him like killing pixelated monsters intrigues Jane. Max showed a lot of excitement about Evie, so much in fact he managed to mimic an explosion using food there and blew it all over his own face and had a wig made up of potatoes and dried veggies in his hair. Smooth moves be damned, it was a fun night. Now it's getting nicer in Inezia thanks to weather monitoring systems. Nice weather mirroring nice clearance with the team? After a rush of bizarre battles and encounters, it's nice to see Inezia slow down. Like it's just wrapped up an act of a story and it's going in for another soon. But this is real life, not a story. Calvin's enjoying the weather patterns like most of everybody else having strolled through the city on his day off. Currently he resides in a neighboring street to Tidal where those kids are playing Power Rangers. Not noticing his friend he watched the children while walking by, waving as a soldier does to the civilians enjoying their day. It's a good day to be human. How's that for a shitty cheese line? No business to attend to, so he's just walking around making a few stops. The college is close to the park right? He might just run in to some of the others.

"Dynatron. Yes, a self explanatory unit for deployment. If only I could manufacture armies of these bomber drones. One will do for now," Splica pondered while inspecting the new creation before sending him out. Lethal, explosive and dumber than stone. Robots make excellent soldiers and they don't need any smarts to power that muscle or firepower. She isn't so quick to discount intelligence, however. She's kept the lock on Volmour's head has she not? Knowing what to use and when to use it is the key to her victory. With approaching signals to her knowledge it will be important to be ready. Splica grabbed at her arm casually near the injection site from Zeninian DNA. Minor pulsation, nothing to worry about for her sake. "Dynatron is half of the plan. I want you blasting everything in site, sparing no expense and destroying everything close to the target. Blood?" she instructed, calling Blood into the room in his unmorphed presence. He entered the room, kneeling before her without a word.
"Blood's bio matrix is lined with the psych amps I've collected on the Rangers. It is through these he will be able to fully connect with and demolish them from the inside out. Eating at their hearts and heads, going at them harder than ever before with tailored weapons. He is equipped with their weaknesses. Blood is the ultimate and final tool in eliminating the Rangers in our final wave to take the Earth. I want Blood and Dynatron pairing together, seeking out one target and locking to his or her weaknesses. Only one amp may go into affect at a time so use them wisely as once they have been drained, they are gone. Tread carefully, you two." Splica commanded. Blood bowed his head. He awaited Dynatron to kick it into gear. He would do the rest.

Graduation is quickly upon them. Isaac nears legal adulthood and his older brother could not be tearing more hair out than he already is over the whole thing. Raising a brother from youth into adulthood had not been the ideal circumstance but seeing it through is rewarding. Heartbreaking since Drew will feel something close to a child of his own becoming an adult. Drew's future child or children will be in good hands, seeing how he already has some sense of fatherly experience. The dome's getting closer to adapting to the weather period outside. Meaning it's almost summer. The outside of the dome always feels hot, uncomfortable and dirty so it's hard keeping track of the date out there. Wanderers must be lost beyond imagination. Registering Isaac into college will be a feat and a half for the Valentine brothers. The kids health is steady for the moment but can decline any second. Enrolling in college is just another thing to live for. Happening to be in the general area as the rest of his team, Drew's busy grabbing application brochures for the Inezia college. Paper applications sound like such a foreign idea now.
The internet, while fine and somewhat reliable here, does have tendencies to be knocked out on occasion so submitting these on paper is the best way to go. Drew got all he needed to take them back to Isaac while the boy paraded around their apartment in his cap and gown from the high school. He's excited to graduate. Drew's excited to get out of the college. Reminders all around of how he didn't stay enrolled or anything.

Olivia gathered a lot of information form incoming sources. Disturbing information. Her and her father received a dire transmission from a far away city. The last words from the Captain there were 'we are sorry and may God help us.' Chilling. They fell. Not even surrender and kept their lives. But anything is better then submitting to the reign of the Armada. Gruesome to know the city count is getting smaller every few days, just about. Another city is getting some pressure put on. But there's a glitch and they can't determine which. It either starts with a Z or an S, but the glitch is blurring the text so it's hard to tell. Olivia read through a lot of the files on her computer, her father taking the harder to swallow pills about casualties in the latest defeat on Earth. No big ceremony made or anything. This is sadly a normal thing on Earth now. Running across other files, she noticed today may be of some importance to Lucas based on certain personal history. Knowing everything, most of it anyhow, about her teams backgrounds does include significant dates. Should he wish to talk about it, she is always available. "I've been standing here so long I might explode..." she said to herself, eyes dry from staring at screens all day.

Tidal spotted Calvin just on the other side of the field where the kids were playing. Clearly he wasn't the only one enjoying the nice weather today. He strolled over, waving at Calvin as he did. "Enjoying a free day as well?" he asked. His nose caught the strong scent of flowers, causing Tidal to sneeze. His eyes were getting a little watery too. Oh god... was he allergic to pollen? Or was it just the fact he's never really noticed them before because he's from the Wasteland? Well he wasn't going to let that ruin his--- cue another sneeze. Now he looked mildly annoyed. But then again, that's how he usually looks. Not really having another place to go other than randomly walking around, Tidal tagged along with Calvin on his walk. "Max and Evie seem to be getting along really well, don't they?" he asked, trying to make some small talk that wasn't about the weather. He'd seen the interactions between the two of them during the big "group date". Everyone had their fun that night. Those two especially, as far as Tidal could tell. He'd talk about how nice it is to see the hope they bring to the children of Inezia, and likely the rest of Earth as far as it's still standing. But that'd be risking the kids to overhear them. And erasing the memories of a bunch of adults recently was more than enough. Plus, erasing the memories of kids seemed risky business. Kids likely didn't have that many memories yet. And who'd want to accidentally erase the memories of them riding a bicycle for the first time? Or getting a puppy? No, best to just leave the kids' minds alone and not talk about ranger business anywhere near them. Say, weren't they near the college? The year was pretty much over, wasn't it? Tidal was pretty sure he'd heard Lucas mention submitting his thesis a few days back.

Lucas and Evie wandered down the street together. It wasn't particularly difficult finding the floral shop. You'd smell it almost a block away. So many flowery smells in the air! While the plan certainly was to buy flowers eventually, the twins also just wanted to hang out and have some fun. As Lucas had suggested back home, today would be perfect to just appreciate their friendships. It was a beautiful day to spend time together. And while it was a bit of a dark thought on such a sunny day, you'd never know when the last time might be everyone gets to hang out together. A dark thought, but not a strange one in a world under constant alien threat. Just people would rather not think about it. The two had thought of a plan on their way to the city, so now they were headed for the park. With a basket. Time for a group picnic? Well, they'd still had to inform the others. While Evie texted Max to invite him over, Lucas texted the others. Ranger group text chat! If it wasn't a thing just yet, it was now. Lucas had no idea most of the others were basically just around the corner of where they were.

"Hi all! Evie and I thought it'd be a great idea to have a picnic with everyone. Meet up at the park in 30?
@ Drew: Feel free to bring your brother along.
@ Calvin: Evie is already inviting Max to come over too.
@ Jane: I feel like you'd try to kill me if I'd say you can bring Tanner along, but feel free to do so if you want. :P"

Meanwhile Evie sent Max a similar sort of text. Kind of.
"Hangout @ the park? We brought food!"

Over at the park, Tidal and Calvin got Lucas' text message.
"A picnic sounds like a good idea," Tidal said. Hanging out with everyone and getting to enjoy free food? Food that was probably made by their dork friend that liked to cook things? Nobody's gonna say no to that! As least... he wouldn't. Cue... not another sneeze. But a growling stomach. Now Tidal was hungry.
"Count me in!" he texted back. "Already at the park anyway."
---
And on the main Armada ship, Dynatron prepared for deployment. Now wasn't the time just yet. He needed a few moments to prepare for the biggest fireworks show Inezia had seen and would ever see. Because it would be the last! MUHAHAHAHA! And it would give Blood a moment too, to decide who his first target would be.

Coming off on the exterior to have not been startled, Calvin greeted Tidal like everybody does someone they work with or see often out on a day off. Civility and unexpected glee. This guy's really come a long way from the beginning. A crazy killer from the wasteland under mind control now a productive member of society saving the day who isn't as cold as he used to be. Maybe Tidal thinks himself the cold one but he's mellowed out. Drop the shaggy appearance and he's almost charming. Ouch, since when is Calvin so judgey? That's Jane's thing not his. And she's the one who first got under this guys skin a while back when the weather was not so pleasant around the city in quadrants. He chuckled about Max and Evie. The two of them did seem to hit it off the other night. "Just taking a walk around while I can. Calm before the storm and all so I'm not letting this pass me by," he said. That makes a lot of sense, too. Raking in some peace and quiet in a world ravaged by war and noise. "Max better not screw up, there. He isn't exactly smooth..." then of course he did at one point act as a wing man for himself and Calvin in a bar with two pretty ladies talking to them.

Getting the group text, Calvin looked at his phone in a sturdy camouflage case for the invite. Max accepted Evie's invitation, but told her he may be a while. Today he's instructing newer recruits into the military how to properly use their weapons at the range. "If I can get away from the recruits I'll be there in a flash," Max replied.
"Caught us at a good time. Hope you have chips and salsa," Calvin texted back to the group chat. He likes chips and salsa. "See you all there!"

Back at her table, Jane wrapped up her session with the beta game in a close-call fight against a boss. Used up all of her potions and damaged her gear but she got him! The full game is going to be amazing if it's as good as the beta is! Victory deemed a verbal cheer, catching the attention of lot of people passing by. Noticing, she scratched the backs of her arms. "I'm gonna be an aunt," she lied to the bystanders, pretending she got good news. They smiled in understanding. It worked! Lying always works in tight situations! She wants to be the cool aunt one day. But unless Christy is hiding something from her, she's definitely not going to be one any time soon. Her phone dinged, alerting her to slip it out of her backpack's compartment. "A picnic huh?" she asked herself.
"Why would I bring Tanner? I'm gonna come because I'm fucking hungry and you guys are cool. I don't have to dress up do I? I'll punch you in the throat if it's a formal thing ^33^" she texted the chat. Then she pondered it all in her head. Tanner is about to be her new in-law through his brother and her sisters marriage. He knows her secret. He's bad at games and picnics have games. Jane likes to win games. He's unbearable to be around but it's fun to pick on him. Not being mean about it obviously. She isn't a bitch.
"On second thought I'll invite him. Haven't hung out with him in a while but I do want to beat him at cornhole or something lol." Assuming cornhole will be there.

Anxious to leave the college and anxious to step back from the console, Drew and Olivia both felt delight in reading Lucas' group text. The group chat isn't used much. The last message sent in it prior to his was Olivia reminding everybody to switch weapon triggers off of safety before the next fight. Testing them after modifications or repairs means they need them on safety mode. Wouldn't want Wilson or a lab tech to have a hole blown in their stomach because somebody got careless. Already one person got singed in the arm way back when. Drew didn't know... he apologized to that guy a million times but still never felt the guy knew how sorry he was over it. Drew's potential insurance suit aside, he looked at the text after getting the right stuff for his brother. For a group of friends, they rarely get to just relax. This group of friends is also tasked with their duty to the city and the planet, constantly battling the forces that lurk above which leaves little time for idle pleasantries. But today is quiet. Not every quiet day is a sign something bad is happening. "I'll swing by the apartment and get Isaac, then. He'd like a day out, sounds like fun man! I'll being blankets to sit on," he texted to the group chat, assuming they'd sit on the ground like regular people do at picnics.

" Lucas Lucas sounds lovely. Bagels with what kind of spread? I'll change and see if father will let me slip away." Olivia didn't need her father's permission but she liked to get it. Respecting the chain of authority and all. The text also tested his knowledge on her favorite bagel/spread combo. Boyfriend goals. The kids say that. They did at one point anyway. She's in her early 20's yet thinks kind of like a 30-something. Either way, she would love to go. Dare she say she can convince the Captain and Wilson to join her? Wouldn't be impossible but it's improbable.
---
Blood readied himself for deployment ahead of Dynatron. Splica kept his arsenal sharp and his weapon sharper for just such an occasion. His special ability being to tap into the Rangers' minds one at a time. Not tap into, per say, more like... understand them better. Play on their hearts and minds. Distort what's true or lay into them as hard as he can. The predator of Rangers. Ranger Slayer? Nah, that sounds like it may be taken.
"Dynatron. We need to head out ASAP. I've got our target selected. Cowardice fits his color perfectly. We'll take our Empress' wishes and make them a reality. Drive into initiative now."

Lucas chuckled getting the texts back from everyone. True colors shining through everywhere! He considered himself very lucky to have befriended these people. Funny to realize how they would've never met if they hadn't been Rangers. Chances were really small they'd ever run into one another or get along. They might pass by each other on the street, but that would've been it. Days like these make him realize that more than others. Especially today. The two finished up getting some last groceries before heading into the park and meeting up with the others. "It's nice getting to hang out with everyone," Lucas told Evie on the way there. "We really don't do that as often as we should."
"But you hang out together all the time. Getting to kick alien and robot asses and work with all the cool stuff. Man, what I'd give to do that even if just for one day," Evie replied.
"I guess you're right there. But that kind of hanging out is not the same as just enjoying food and games on one of the rare quiet days," Lucas responded. Ah, the kind of bickering only siblings can have together. The friendly kind of "I'm right and you're an idiot". They'd do that all the time when they were younger. Third party being involved in more than half of those moments.

Lucas waved the others over, if they hadn't caught the two of them approaching just yet. "I'm glad you all could make it," Lucas smiled. "It's really just the perfect day to spend time with the people you care about the most." Was it cheesy? Probably. But he meant it from the bottom of his heart.
"That, and we've got something to..." Evie paused. "Celebrate really isn't the right choice of words... Remember. There's someone we want to remember today. And we'd like to do that in the company of our closest friends." Lucas nodded. That was a nice way of putting it. He was fairly certain that Lucy would like this bunch of people as well. Whether she'd know they were rangers or not. And Lucas would like to think she was watching over them today, wherever she might have gone. He's not really a religious person, but the thought that people were just completely gone didn't sit too well with him. She'd live on in spirit, through the memories Lucas and Evie had of her. And the best way of honoring her and keeping the memories alive was to share them with others. And by, as they'd decided before leaving the apartment, by doing what she loved to do most. Having fun and spending time with the people that mattered to her.

As everyone helped putting out all the food and blankets, there was one of those for this group very rare opportunities to have some smalltalk and just chat to each other. Lucas put the box of bagels out, remembering to have gotten one with hazelnut spread for Olivia and a random assortment of other bagels for the others to enjoy. Tidal couldn't help but laugh slightly at that. Of course there would be bagels. What else did they expect with whom was organizing the picnic? But it wasn't just bagels. Chips and dips, sandwiches, drinks... These two were really going all out here today! With all the food out and ready and everyone finding a comfortable spot, Tidal turned to Isaac. "Congrats on graduating," he said to the boy. "Any idea wat you'd like to study?" That's sure come a long way from the first time they've met. Something with kidnapping and a monster wanting to drain all of the poor boy's blood. And memories suddenly resurfacing about his own little brother. Things might still be a little weird between the two of them, of course they'd be, but at least Isaac didn't seem so scared of him anymore. Again, can't blame the kid.

And Evie took the opportunity to glance at Max. "I see you managed to get all of that broccoli out of your hair?" she grinned. Friendly tease there. Man, they'd all laughed so much when that explosion went wrong. Really the only time when it's alright to laugh when an explosion goes wrong. Usually things just get the bad kind of messy when that happens. Now it was just potatoes and veggies flying around and not... other kinds of things you wouldn't want to see flying around. Geez girl! This is supposed to be a happy day outside full of fun. Not a day to think of that kind of stuff!

And on the main ship, Dynatron was almost ready to deploy. Blood had picked his first target... good. That'd make things a lot easier for them all. "Aaaalmost ready," Dynatron answered Blood's call. Even for a robot nearly entirely made out of dynamite, he couldn't have enough weapons and explosions on him. The robot was polishing his blasters one last time, as well as checking his dynamite once more. Although he was meant to detonate things, it'd be a shame if the Generals would be right and he'd end up detonating himself too soon.

Rendezvousing at the park had been extremely easy for Calvin and Tidal having already been there. Max did get away from the recruits just in the nick of time, and Jane texted Tanner about coming. The invite went as follows:
"@ Tanner, hey my friends and i are having a thing at the park. gonna be food, wanna come?
@ Jane, you want me to come?
@ Tanner, didn't say that. just you're invited. you get on my nerves but you're good to beat at games.
@ Jane oh I'll show you. The finest club in Inezia, well the only one really, taught me high society manners. I will show you fair game
"
Tanner and his family being higher class never ceased to annoy Jane. He liked rubbing peoples noses in his class. High society club in a world that's basically ended. Screams Titanic and lifeboat sorting to her. That ended so well for everybody involved. But her annoyance with him aside, Tanner's been good to talk to about shit and he'l be family soon so she bit the bullet.

"Thanks for inviting us," Calvin raised a pretend glass to the twins as they thanked everyone for showing up. It is a good day for this. Time away from work wouldn't hurt anybody. Some critic may disagree that superheros need a day off or a moment of breath-catching but screw that critic. Calvin is rarely seen outside of uniform or fatigues. Today he may as well be a different guy to everyone minus Max. "Remembering someone important?" he asked curiously. Really he should know who they're talking about but not seeing a face to a name makes it weird remembering people. Food being made available to him, Calvin partook in the chips and salsa right away, a paper plate full of tortilla chips and spicy salsa. Max being Latino may be more associated with that stuff but looks are deceiving.
Jane, before the twins even thanked everyone for coming, had her face stuffed with food. She was hungry. Swallowing a huge mouthful she managed to squeeze out a 'no problem' before forcefully chewing it down. Gulp, literally. Tanner seemed ashamed and uncomfortable to be around her but she stuffed a plain bagel in his mouth to get him in the spirit. He chewed. Spat a little, but chewed.

Jane poked directly into Drew and Lucas, the other original trio members. The three of them need to be a trio again for a minute. "We started as like three. Look at us now," she said. Again with a mouthful. Reflecting on starting as three unaware civilians turning into this massive group of people with their own stories is remarkable. Wrapping her arms around the two guys, lightly tugging on their ears for old times sake, she let out a breath of air and food. "Thanks for the lack of dress code. Ripped jeans and a t shirt suit me way better than a damn skirt and cardigan. When you and Olivia get married one day I'm wearing PJs and you can't stop me," Jane said to Lucas completely out of the blue. Tanner listened in on Tidal and Isaac.
"So... I hear you tried killing him before?" he butted in. Tanner...just why?

Max scratched the back of his neck. His hair still kind of smelled like veggies. "Yeah... I see you didn't forget about it?" he asked, a little flustered but glad to be talking. That incident at the restaurant blew up in his face on a whole scale of literally.
Calvin peered into Max and Evie's talk . Private talk? Not so much seeing how she's talking about the food hair.
"Your guys' mutual like of things going boom really came through then, huh?" he asked. He offered them both some chips and salsa. He had plenty to go around. Like...all of the salsa, actually. Spice doesn't bother him, so be alerted.

Today's a good day. The planet's ran by war and violence. Time is precious and scarce enough to make moments with people close together appreciate them all the more. Colonel Smith may disapprove of frivolous gatherings such as this but he is in the Capital. What he does not know of will not hurt him. That man antagonizes the Rangers a bit but he has shown his true colors. He's a good man who only wants what is right for his world, even if that makes him grumpy and sort of a jerk. Anybody with that much stress put on their shoulders is going to be cranky. Still, he would be against this gather if he were here. Drew, Olivia, Isaac, even the Captain and Dr Wilson stepped out of HQ for a moment to join their team. Rare those two ever did anything casual, but popping in would not hurt anything. It is nice to get out once in a while. Both men certainly have earned a moment away.
Everybody smiled softy, placing things in order around the picnic area, holding solo cups of cream soda or whatever beverage made available. A lot of remembering lost souls nowadays. Drew relates to that. Lucas and Evie want to remember somebody and choose to do so by spending the day with friends. How nice of them to invite everybody out for this. "This is a great idea, you two, really," he praised them, sipping his drink while his brother sat down to be joined later by Tidal. Isaac has been doing well as of late, though his meds keep going up and up and up...

"Who are we remembering? I think you've said you had a friend a long time ago but--" Drew started with Lucas as everyone sectioned off. He'd been interrupted by Jane. She made him laugh softly. The main three, original three, now surrounded by three more team members and a bunch of people they love who'd helped them time and time again. Hey, watch the ear tug! Bad memory! "Crazy huh? It never feels like the three of us are the main people here but we did branch out a bit. So weird how it all turned out. The three of us would have maybe never met unless Olivia found us all that day in town. What was even that robots name? A big generic looking brute or something?" he reminisced with the other two primary-colored Rangers. Olivia, speaking of, was behind Lucas with her favorite bagel. He remembered, getting points with her.
"Luc--" Olivia began to answer Drew on who they may be remembering. She believed she knew the name but wasn't sure. Just the name escaped her mind, that's all. She had taken a swig of a drink when Jane mentioned marriage. She spat her drink out and coughed, clearing her throat, going red as a tomato. "W-what???" she asked. Drew widened his eyes, doing that 'hold back a laugh with throat sounds' thing.

Isaac poked his head up to Tidal, asking about graduation. Something every teenager looks forward to in high school. Plans for life, thrown into adulthood, stress over the future topped on a world ravaged by insanity. Insanity like the man who once kidnapped him now sitting with him at a picnic asking about life after high school. He shrugged. "Well I don't graduate for a couple more weeks. Afterward I hadn't given it a lot of thought. Maybe go into nursing, medical science. See is I can just make my own heart less of a ticking time bomb." The boy both joked but meant it. His heart being his weakest organ. Truth be told...Isaac isn't even sure he'll make it long enough to be a doctor. But he likes to dream. Then Tanner happened. Butting in with a harsh question!
"He...did, yeah. Kidnapped me, too. But now we're here," Isaac aid, cracking a grin to Tanner but hiding it so Tidal would feel awkward.

Captain Scott poked in on the original three and Olivia. "What's this I hear about marriage?" he teased lightly, but also wanted to know what's what.
Dr. Wilson joined the soldiers chatting about. The doctor stole a chip and some salsa from Calvin, listening at the three of them. "You all had a night out right? Something about Evelyn and Max' love for explosives. It's funny, I don't actually remember either of you learning about demolitions on your training records or your files anywhere..." he said, thinking. No demolition training, really. Is it just they both like watching things go off?

It was really nice to see everyone going out and joining in for the picnic. Really everyone. Dr Wilson and Captain Scott were probably the last people anyone ever expected to see outside of HQ. But here they were, enjoying bagels, salsa, and juice with everyone. The two really did deserve a break though. Staring at screens all day and worrying about the world ending must put a lot of stress on one's shoulders. But not today! Today was just relaxing, enjoying the nice weather, and each other's company.
"Yes, we..." Lucas started before Jane interrupted with her poking. Her words made him smile widely. "Indeed... A year ago I don't think any of us would ever think we'd be busy saving the world and make amazing friends in the progress." Her next words, however, would have made him spit out his drink if he'd been drinking anything. Now he just choked on air, looking at Jane in total shock and not knowing how to respond other than getting flustered. Cue Eveline getting a complete fit of laughter. Well, at least Lucas wasn't the only one to turn red here. Olivia seemed just as shocked. And the Captain joining in on the teasing didn't really make it better. Lucas scratched the back of his neck, shooting a slight glare at Jane.

"A-anyway... As I was trying to say... Yes. There's someone we'd like to remember today. An old friend of ours, Lucy. The three of us grew up together," Lucas smiled again, albeit faintly this time. "She, ehm, died... of leukemia. Today it's been seven years since."
Eveline nodded solemnly. "She'd always talk about wanting to get the most out of life, and spending as much time as possible with the people she cared about."
"So we figured the best way to remember her and honor her memory is to do just that. Inviting the people that matter the most to us, and spend time with them," Lucas finished.

Well, Tanner surely seemed to know how to ruin a moment. Did he have to remind everyone of brainwashed and evil Tidal trying to kill Isaac? "But instead I ended up saving him, breaking free from the mind control I was under... and joined up with the colorful idiots I call my friends nowadays," Tidal shrugged. No more harm done. And Isaac didn't seem to be too bothered by being reminded of what had happened either. Which honestly was quite the relief. "That's something great to aspire," he said with some genuine admiration. Wanting to get into med school so he can learn how to cure and maybe even prevent his condition, so that nobody would have to suffer the same insecure fate. Tidal could respect that. He turned his attention back to the twins, telling them who they were remembering today.
"I'm sorry to hear," he said. "But I do think it's wonderful you chose to remember her like this."

"Not going to forget the highlight of the evening," Evie teased Max and chuckled, grabbing a handful of chips. They really both did share a love for seeing things explode, didn't they? Dr. Wilson's comment, however, made her consider for a moment. Why did she like explosions so much? "Well, I never did learn about it," Evie said. "My subsequent fear and interest for explosions date back to an... incident. That's all I'll say about it." Although she didn't seem very uncomfortable about the situation, it was apparent she didn't like to talk about it. And it seemed Lucas knew at least something more, but he, as per usual when it came to the past, kept quiet.

Elsewhere in Inezia, a large group of refugees made their way through the gates. Nothing about them in particular stood out a lot. Refugees came into the city on a fairly regular basis, didn't they? This was just the latest batch from the Wastelands. Possibly from recently fallen cities and cities currently under heavy fire as well. People seeking a safe haven from the Armada. And what city could possibly be safer than the one under the protection of the Power Rangers? The refugees dispersed once they were safely behind the walls. Families sticking closely together as to not lose each other in the chaos. People who had somehow bonded during their journey staying near each other, accepting whatever food, water, and blankets were offered. These people were miserable after their harsh journey. Some more than others, for there were few among the refugees who had nobody to stay close to. Some were all on their own.

Volunteers just have their hands completely full nowadays, tending to all those people. It would surely be great if more people from the city would help these folks out as a sign of goodwill..
---
And yet again elsewhere in the city, Dynatron had dispatched. Oh, how eager he was to just blow as many things as possible up! But... now was not quite yet the time. For back on the ship, prior before departing, Blood had hatched a most clever and devious plan that had been put into action. Dynatron, for now, would have to wait his turn.

"What a year it has been, as well. The day you three had been escorted into my headquarters changed the entire fight against the Rexians." Captain Scott, after mild teasing about marriage, reminisced over old times. Under a year of time has changed so much. Soldiers and tanks were good at fending off the invading forces but if not for the development of the Ranger program and their Zords, the Earth may have not lasted this long. If not for these three starting it out... who's to say they would not all be slaves of the Armada? That Drew would be dead, Jane would be working in some encampment or Lucas would be some brainwashed soldier? Instead these three former civilians have become something Captain Scott is proud of. Them plus two highly trained individuals with an ex-con working on the side of good are just what the world needs most.

Olivia was too busy recouping from Jane's comment and flustering to even speak for a moment.
Lucy passing away of leukemia is a tragic story. Seven years ago Lucas and Evie lost their dearest friend whom they grew up with. Remembering her by being with people they call friends is beautiful. "I remember seeing something about her on your file. It isn't my duty to pry but I knew today was of some importance to you," Olivia admitted. She knows a lot about everyone based on extensive research put into their candidate files. She made a mental promise to everyone that she would not pry and dig around so much to make them uncomfortable. Drew knew she knew a lot, so her knowing today was about Lucy was no shock. In fact it's kind of nice. "What was she like? You grew up with her. Must be stories to tell," Olivia inquired Lucas about his friend, keeping close to him but not too close since her father is erhm....right there.

"My condolences, guys. I'm happy you want to share the day with us," Drew said. "Your names are even close. Lucas and Lucy. Meant to be friends?" Drew joked.
Isaac smirked at Tidal defending himself over the past. This man showed up to the high school and kidnapped Isaac with the help of a limb shifting monster in broad daylight in order to draw blood from him since he's the only person in Inezia with his blood type. Extremely odd chances of that being the case. It's also part of the reason Isaac is still sick. See, a donor would be of great help to his situation. But blood is an important part of that. Some blood can mix alright, but others can be dangerous. It is a more complex ideal than that but let's leave the logistics for another time.
Hearing about Lucy peaked his mind. "Leukemia? I'm sorry... how old was she when she passed?" Isaac asked Evie and Lucas. He meant absolutely no disrespect. His mannerisms indicated he related to Lucy because of potentially terminal illnesses. Mortality concern perhaps? Drew shot a glare. "Isaac!" he whispered.

Wilson smirked. The soldiers loved talk of booms. "I see. Commander Taylor, Sanchez? You both have something tying to fondness of detonations as well?" Wilson oddly asked. The level of social skills this man has beyond work is low but he's trying. He comes off like a fun uncle making an effort to learn about the kiddos.
---
Stealth is key. Best not to waste time. Blood set his plan into action against his target using untraceable tech and ability. It's about to get fun. Deploying to Inezia called for swift action and careful timing. Best not to alert the Power Rangers of his ability. This will take skill, making him the only one for the job. Actera and Volmour would remain on board with the Empress as she herself kept the internal battle against the Zeninian injection to herself.

Only a short while had gone by for conversations and eating. Excusing himself and holding a finger to his earpiece, the Captain let out a weary sigh. Just as everybody made themselves comfortable, too. "Lucas, everybody, I am sorry. A massive group of refugees has entered the city and they need help at the main entrance to the city. Would you all mind?" asked the Captain. Formal as he is, he hated ruining the fun of a day out like this. Isaac frowned, knowing this meant he'd have to go home. Wilson clenched his shoulders a bit. More refugees? Inezia is running out of room. The cities are dwindling but this one place can not hold everybody...
"More people...goodness... " Olivia quietly said, also aware of the cramped space as of late. Nevertheless it is their duty to help people in need.
"One way of getting the most of out life could be being selfless, right? Let's go help those people." Drew had been a little bothered about cutting the day short but if the crew working out there needs help then he'll gladly go. Passing out food and supplies is not hard but it is greatly appreciated. Isaac perked up like he wanted to come too. Drew looked at him and debated...sighing. That time Isaac joined a fight and got Drew upset... the boy wants to help, but his brother worries.

"We shouldn't debate. We need to go, sweethear--... I mean Lucas," Olivia caught herself, retaining professionalism before her father.

"I said something wrong didn't I? Was it the pajama thing? I was kidding guys. I'll wear a nice top and pants to your wedding. I'll bake desserts, too," Jane piled on to the impending marriage of her pink and yellow friends here. But now they're both red. That makes Drew a pastel red compared to the deep apple shades of the others right now. Completely moving past it, she felt more sure of herself with the Captain bragging on them. Not to be so cocky but being bragged on boosts confidence and inspires people. Jane's played so many heroes in games she never thought she'd be one in real life. Getting to make that a reality and sort of continue her family military service is really cool. Rare to see the head hancho out of the office. Happy to have him.
Lucy, the others' friend, dying on this day put a morbid spin on things. Celebrating friendship on a death day. "I'm sorry, guys. Seven years... Can't be easy can it? Having all of that time pass on?" Jane asked Lucas specifically, sensing Evie may still be recovering from that laughter and Max is resuming speaking to her over there. But that is for another paragraph. (fourth wall!) Olivia knowing this before hand sort of, knowing a lot of things actually, isn't weird to Jane. Expecting her to be really baffled, she's instead chill about it. Her dad's like that; knowing things he surprises people with. It's a wonder he doesn't know about her being a Ranger. "It is immensely comforting you don't just make it a mission to know shit about us on a deep level. But I wonder...what's my old goldfishes name?" Jane playfully tested Olivia.

While Jane found herself curious and wanting to hear about Lucy, the girl of the hour...in a really fucked up way worded like that, peaked interest to both a tomboy and a soldier keeping chips to himself since nobody wanted them. Calvin and Max both extended condolences and picked up on Evie mentioning a past thing with explosions. "Fear?" Calvin asked. She just said she doesn't like to talk about it but he couldn't help himself. Eveline Tucker, a woman whom upon meeting made it clear she liked big guns and big booms has subsequent fear over them? Feels like discovering Blood is a ballet performer in his off hours. Does not compute at all.
"My fondness of detonating things just comes from them being the best ways of getting the job done a chunk of the time. Your weapons and tech make all of the Rexians blow up anyway. I'm happy to get them there," Max answered, glancing at Evie as he spoke to Wilson.

Tanner backed away slightly while Tidal defended the past and focused on the present. "Just making conversation..." ...Awkward. Change it up!
"So medicine? I'm thinking of studying it, too," Tanner said to Isaac. Ahh. So that rich boy has plans to make something of himself. Becoming a doctor, a nurse, even a technician. Something in the medical field that can do some good. That's admirable.
---
Just when everybody is getting to enjoying themselves, a big group of refugees come into the already crowded city. But who are they to turn away those who need help and shelter? Shutting down your borders and just putting up walls or gates is useless when the human race needs help. Doesn't matter where people come from so long as they're red-blooded and breathing the same oxygen. "Drew is right. I didn't know her, but Lucy would think helping people counts as living life huh? I don't mean to sound like I knew her but we can't just ignore those in need," Calvin said softly. Understanding today is important but knowing duty calls. Tanner raised a brow, lowering his hands and seeing if they'd all go. He'll go, too, if they need helping hands. Nothing in it for him but it would be weird to be the odd man out, plus he could stand to help some people out.
"Count me in, everybody," Max promised to come and help out. Jane tucked her arms in together. "Sweetheart? Boy that isn't awkward huh boss?" she said and elbowed...the Captain

After everything they'd learned so far, Lucas wasn't shocked to hear Olivia already knew a thing or two, having read all of their files prior to all of them becoming Rangers. Though it did make him wonder... just what did she all know? Being asked about stories made him smile faintly. "Many stories indeed. Lucy was an amazing person. A bit rowdy and rough around the edges, but one of the kindest people you could ever meet. The three of us could spend many hours exploring the local forest, riding bikes, building tree huts. There's so much to tell I wouldn't even know where to begin. I do know for sure you all would've liked her. She'd fit right into this group." She'd probably one of Jane's best friends. Minus that Lucy did have a girly side showing from time to time. Few things in the world made that girl happier than flowers of any kind. Especially yellow roses. So in a way, Lucas thought, it was kind of special that he was the yellow ranger. But that's a thought he'd keep to himself. Cue a somewhat awkward chuckle at Drew's joke on their names. If only he knew...
"It's alright," Evie assured Drew, noticing him glaring to his little brother. "She was seventeen, wasn't she?" Evie turned to Lucas for a second. "The summer before Senior Year." She turned back towards the others. "I... wasn't there anymore to say goodbye. "They'd already taken me away and put into the system." Everyone already knew she'd been put into foster care. The rangers did, anyway. Lucas nodded once more. First his sister, then his friend. One gone forever, and the other found again several years later.

The conversation would have gone on for a while longer, diving further into the memories of Lucielle and other casual conversation that's part of a picnic with friends. That is, until the Captain excused himself for a moment and later informed them that another large group of refugees had made their way into Inezia. "More people..." Lucas sighed, lightly shaking his head. The city was getting full, and people from the Wastelands desperately tried finding a safe haven wherever possible. What would happen when there was no more space? They'd have to turn away dozens, maybe hundreds or thousands of people. They'd have to stay out there, straggling in the Wastelands or try to find their way to another city still standing, hoping there was still space there. It made him realize just how lucky he'd been. How long had it been? Two years? Three? The mostly broken young man, on board of a vehicle transporting people to the safety of Inezia. A three day ride, hardly time for a break. People crammed into a small space, anticipating, nervous, terrified. All everyone had were the clothes on their body and maybe a few possessions in a small bag. People were starving, exhausted, praying they'd find safety. Two and a half days into their trip, so close to safety, the vehicle broke down. Or perhaps it was sabotaged during a brief break, either by stragglers needing supplies or by Armada forces looking for workforce. Either way, there was no choice left but to move on by foot. As fast as possible, running through the Wasetland trying to avoid being murdered or captured. Not everyone was successful. Of the few dozen people on the vehicle, 53 if Lucas recalled correctly, only a handful of them made it to the gates. Weary, feeling even worse than before. Lucas knew how much the refugees appreciated the supplies behind handed out, even if it was something as simple as a blanket or a bottle of water.
"You're right," Lucas said. "We have to help them however we can. A few years ago I was one of them. I know how much they appreciate any small gesture of kindness." Did they know? They knew he was from Zalfari, originally. But did they know how he got here?

"You got here as a refugee?" Tidal asked. So apparently at least one person didn't know. Lucas nodded. "I've got quite the clear idea what those people have gone through. And as I said, you guys are right. Helping others is indeed another great way to remember Lucy. She'd likely slap each and every one of us if we chose to stay here and have a picnic while we know there's people who need help."
"She definitely would," Evie agreed. "I say we just stuff this all in the car and get to the gates as fast as we can. The more people handing out supplies, the more people we can help. And faster too."
Slight awkwardness on the little slip-up there aside, they really had to get going. People were counting on... well, not specifically them, but on people to help them.
---
Cue perhaps about an hour later, with everyone having made their way to the main entrance to the city. It was sad to say it's a normal sight in Inezia nowadays, to see people huddles to close together. Looking miserable, covered in dirt, hungry, in shock. Crying children and parents trying whatever they could to calm the poor little things down. Tidal looked at them all, pitying the people and the horrifying things they must have seen. This was what they were fighting for almost every day. These were the people they were protecting. He'd lived in the Wastelands and seen the horrors from up close, but it was so different from what he was seeing here. People so desperately clinging on to whatever little things they had left, hoping to find a place to stay, to live. To be warm and safe again. These were both refugees from recently fallen cities, as well as more of the stragglers having found their way. Everyone fighting for their own survival. It was a small miracle to him that nobody was pushing each other aside, fighting over blankets, over food, over a warm spot near a fire. And for Lucas as well it was confronting to be back here again. Back where it began. Helping the people he was once a part of and seeing the other side of the story.
"This is just heartbreaking..." Evie said softly to everyone around her. "All these people... Are there even enough supplies to help everyone out?"
"If worse comes to worst, we still at least have the food from the picnic to hand out here. These people would be happy with anything," Lucas replied.

Quickly everyone got to work, handing out food, water, blankets. Whatever supplies they were given by the volunteers were distributed among the people. Even though it was a small gesture, their eyes filled with gratitude. To them even the smallest sign of kindness could brighten up an entire day. Lucas approached a woman he'd noticed a few moments before. Sitting all on her own, not necessarily distanced from the others, but clearly not a part of any of the families. Perhaps a straggler? Or someone who lost everything and everyone? Either way, this woman was all on her own, keeping her head down and trembling seemingly unable to control herself.
"Here you go, ma'am," Lucas said, handing the woman a blanket. The woman slowly looked up, wide eyed and shocked. As their eyes met, time seemed to stop for a moment. From shock the look on the woman's face changed to a mixture of happiness and surprise. "Chris!" the woman jumped up and embraced him. "Oh Chris, my boy. I've been so worried about you!"

Tidal watched the situation with a sad look on his face, hearing the woman call Lucas "Chris". "That poor lady," he told the others. "Lucas must look like someone she cares about a lot. Or at least remind her."

So strange to think of forest in Zalfari. Simulation of a real forest or a wooded area managed to be salvaged in that dome, it has to be one or the other. Beautiful childhood memories can still be made. Making such precious things in a dire world is remarkable. Lucas and his sister having that to look back on is just great. Isaac felt even more embarrassed and uncomfortable that Lucy passed at 17. He's 17, about to turn 18. Leukemia isn't the same as his heart condition but both can be terminal. Life expectancy varies per person with this diseases. The boy noticeably shifted and nodded, a little taken back by how young their friend was at the time of her death. It isn't selfish to think of her death meaning his is close by given the age, is it? Olivia read his body language and didn't think it was selfish at all to be afraid, the poor boy.

Evie being taken into care before having any chance of saying goodbye is heartbreaking. Sad enough Lucy died, but sadder one of them never got to say goodbye. Equally sad is Lucas being a former refugee himself. Today is to remember Lucy. No surname detected. Lucy apparently would fit right in with this crowd. Is she mechanically inclined like Drew? Rowdy like Jane? Cool like Calvin or cat-crazed like Tidal? Lover of fine pastry? C'mon, that one doesn't need a name paired with it. It's an obvious one. Shame they would never know, but they can make today more special by helping those people at the gates. "Sorry to hear that, man... " Drew said to Lucas, hearing he was once a refugee himself. He knew he was not native to this city but he didn't recall exactly how he got here. He assumed by transport request. Olivia knew this, but never mentioned it. She doesn't talk about things she knows unless someone is willing to bring it up. She respects everyone enough for that.
"Quickly, then," the Captain directed the Rangers and friends to aid those in need.
---
Against better judgement, Drew let Isaac come along. If the boy wants to help, he can't just say no to being a good person. What example is that setting? Not letting a kid help people in need when he wants to selflessly help them. He'd never tried hiding this from Isaac. Exposure to gritty things like this isn't something kids need to be kept away from. This is reality, as hard as it is. Times are tough and a lot of people need a warm face to guide them through it all. God damn the Armada for reducing the Earth into this. All of these people looked tired, hungry, scared, paranoid. Like they'd been through Hell and back. Let's be real here, they have been through Hell. Getting here is no small feat. This can't be all of them, though. There were surely more trying to make it here that did not. Sad stuff, but Drew can't keep his brother from it. The brothers handed out food and water to everybody. Not just those who looked more hungry than others. Everybody got food here. Inezia will be their new beginning; a safe place for them.

"I was going to suggest that," Drew said as Lucas mentioned using picnic food. Isaac had already given a small bag of chips from the picnic to a refugee kid. The poor thing hadn't eaten in a long time. Chips aren't so healthy but they'll hold this child over long enough until hot food comes his way.
Olivia shared the heartbreak, putting her medical training to good use and tending to wounds dealt in the Wasteland. The Captain and Dr Wilson were there as well, but they were speaking with the officials leading this recovery operation. People hissed as she applied medicine and bandages to them, but were grateful for her help in killing infections out before the got bad. "Everything's gonna be okay. You're safe here," she softly reminded those she had been aiding. It brought her nearly to tears how appreciative the were.

Hearing 'Chris!' so loud got everyones attention. A woman clinging to Lucas but calling him another name. "I think you're right..." Drew said to Tidal, also thinking this woman just mistook him for another person out of confusion or delusion. Poor thing.

"I'm eating a sandwich on the way there. Not to be insensitive to hungry people but I'm loving this grape jam you guys brought," Jane rolled on by Evie and Lucas with a sandwich in hand. Grape jam never tasted so good! They're going to help people as part of making today a remembrance to Lucy. She, by what they have heard thus far, sounds like she was a cool person and it's really sad she isn't here today. Maybe if she were here, she would fit right in. Jane knew a girl named Lucy back in middle school, but she later started going by her middle name instead. Was it something like Rachel...Tammy? One of those girls she never associated with. Popular girls liked to pick on people, even in the world they live in now. Some people are so rotten they have no excuse to be a good person at all, it would seem. Names are just names, though. Lucy in this context is a different person from the one Jane knew in school. Chewing her sandwich, Jane squeezed into the car with Calvin and the others. No time to waste here.
---
Lucas got to Inezia as a refugee himself. He alone knows firsthand what all of these people in need are dealing with. How hungry, how afraid, how tired and how lost they must be. Helping these people brings out the compassion spirit in him. "Imagine that... protecting people on a day meant to honor someone else. Rather intellectual of him. Redemption" Jane punned (?) to herself as she looked to those in need as they got there. Now is apparently that time. Okay so the first three were easy to work into thought. Whereas the second two were just shoehorned. Redemption more than intellect. Calvin pinched his brow and sighed. Tanner and Max just shook their heads. Nobody appreciated her humor. Humor is her defense mechanism, what more can she say?
"It really is. But one day people will never have to run to safety like this again," Max approached Evie, agreeing on the heartbreak of this scene. The future holds good things for the world, God willing. "We can help here, though." Max immediately set out to help different refugees find different things. Directing them to who may have food, medicine, bandages, everything they need. Tanner, like Olivia, found a first aid kit and to the shock of those who knew him, expertly tending to scraps and cuts these people had. Spoiled rich kid knows a thing or two about this sort of thing. He might do just fine in medical school.

"Rationing everything out is gonna be hard unless we do," Jane said about supplies. The food from their picnic can be remade for another time. Full from her snack on the drive, Jane handed out food from the baskets to those who were starving. Mostly children. All of the children... God damn it.
Calvin gave water to those close to him, passing around bottles on bottles. "Remain calm. Nothing's gonna hurt you here," he promised them. Come to think of it... Lucas was one of these people before. Dare he say he knew it already? It could be him wanting to remember this, but he swore hearing that triggered a memory. Like Calvin was one of the people at the gates when Lucas came here... either it is wishful thinking or Calvin actually did escort Lucas and his band of refugees into Inezia all those years ago. Would be pretty cool if that were the case!
That woman with him shouting Chris... poor dear. "Who knows how long she's been out there?" Calvin implied she was definitely delirious.

Lucas tensed up at the woman embraced him. Not out of awkwardness, although that was certainly a part of the reason. No, there was more. Another kind of tension and a certain overall uneasiness. Now that he saw her up close, he recognized her. He recognized her all too well. The brunette with the hazel eyes that matched his own. One of the last people he expected to see here. And definitely one of the last people he'd want to see. He wanted to push her away, turn his back on her and get out of there as fast as he could. It was harsh to think what he did, but he didn't care for the reason why she was here. Just let her go someplace else, very far away from him and everything he had build up here. And other than that... he recognized this embrace all too well. The "I will force you to hug me to make up" kind of embrace. All but genuine, and usually followed by subtly sneering remarks.

"Ehm... excuse me, ma'am?" Tidal said carefully approaching the two. "I'm so sorry, but I think you're mistaking him for somebody else." It was harsh, but it would be better to be honest with the woman rather than have her believe she reunited with a long lost loved one, only to later be confronted that she was mistaken and their loved one was long gone, missing, or just not in Inezia to begin with.
"She's not mistaken," Lucas replied with a hint of annoyance in his voice.
"So... wait, what? I'm confused now," Tidal looked at the two. If she wasn't mistaking him for the wrong person... then what the hell was going on here? Who was this Michael?
"Of course I'm not mistaking him for someone else," the woman seemed slightly shocked. "How could I fail to recognize my own son?"
Tidal nearly dropped the supplies he'd been holding. This woman, this poor refugee woman, was Lucas' mother? This really confused him. Even more so since his mother, who should definitely not get her child's name wrong, was not referring to him as Lucas at all. The woman wiped her tears from her face and took hold of Lucas' hands again.
"Have you any idea how worried I've been about you for the last three years?" she asked him.
---
Evie took note of the commotion too, turning towards the sound of a very familiar voice.
"Fuck no," Evie said loudly. "I'm outta here." She quickly strode off, heading to people as far away from the woman as possible. There was no way in hell she was going to get near that. She wasn't going to leave the people so desperately in need of her help alone, but she refused to go near the hazel-eyed woman. "If anyone needs me, I'll be way over there," Evie called to Max, pointing in the general direction of another group of people further away from the gates. This entire scene here may be heart-breaking, but if she's going to have to speak to the woman who had now latched onto her brother, something else was going to be broken. And it wouldn't be pretty.
---
Oh, he'd almost believe her. Almost. She sounded genuine enough to be believed, but Lucas, personally, didn't buy it. He quickly pulled his hands free from his mother's grasp.
"Shut up and piss off," he hissed at her, shoving her aside. Her questions were a thing any concerned mom could and would ask, nothing wrong with it. But... when she said it... He shook his head. Had he already mentioned he didn't want his mother back in his life? At the moment he didn't even give a damn he might seem like some broody teenager. The others didn't know. They had NO idea. "I'm going to check up on Evie."
"Ah? Sweet Evelyn is here too?" his mother smiled brightly, oh so happy yo hear that both her children were safe and sound in Inezia.
"Just piss off already, piseag."
"Michael Christian Allanach you better watch your language!" his mother sternly called after him as he stormed off.

The woman sighed, lightly shaking her head as she watched her son walk off like that, and after shoving her aside and being called names too! How rude! That's not how she had raised him. She seemed genuinely shocked as she turned to the rest. "I... I don't understand," she said to them. "I haven't seen my son since he ran away from home three years ago. All those years I've worried about him, where he had gone, if he was even still alive... and now that I've found him again, this is how he treats me?" She sighed sadly and crossed her arms. "You all seem like fine young people. My name is Claire Allanach."

Wait what? Now Tidal was even more confused than before. Maybe the nice guy they all knew wasn't so nice after all? He had mentioned to have caused some trouble as a teen in high school, together with his friend and sister, but this...? It seemed as if Lucas, Michael... Chris... whatever his name may truly be, had put up quite the nice guy act to conceal this little detail. Running away from home, leaving your family worrying, and then acting like this when finally reunited? Tidal, too, had run away from his home and for good reason, but if his parents, or even one of them was to show up suddenly, he'd be more than happy. And not... well... an asshole, really. It came as a shock to him. If his name was an act, and he wasn't so much of a nice guy... then what other things may "Lucas" have lied about? He shook his head in confusion, sharing the mother's shock. He glanced at the rest. Maybe they knew a little better what to make of this all than he did?

"Jane... " Drew said, shaking his head to her listing of their human spirits. A lot of bad jokes have been told among this group. A lot of bad jokes. But that...
Isaac chuckled. The one closer to Jane's age thinks it's funny, sure. He's also still drinking chocolate milk at lunch in school. Two and two don't always make four. But they do since the math constant. Jokes transitioning into math? Brief silence took everyone over as that poor lady called out to Lucas. Cause of the otherwise insane transition of cognition.

Drew quickly approached Lucas and the brunette woman, gently pulling Tidal back and taking his place as the bystander coming in to help. Not so much taking his place as he was just stepping in to see what's up. Olivia glanced over with wide eyes at such a scene but remained at a refugees side, cleaning up a nasty knee wound that is bound to get infected if not treated carefully. Drew nearly spoke to ask what's going on when this woman revealed she is Lucas' mother. His... his mother?! She's here in Inezia as a refugee?? Good God, what the hell happened to bring her here? His mother alive and well. He knew Lucas nor Evie had contact with her. Should he not be happy she's alive? If his mother showed up in Inezia... first Drew would freak out since his mother is dead. Adding zombies to the mix of the war is just too much to handle. No zombie moms, please. Lucas does not seem happy in the slightest. He's a bit annoyed, actually.
"Lucas? Lucas's what's going on? Aren't you glad to see her?" he asked his friend, standing by him and his mother.

Olivia caught wind of Evie's reaction to this. Finishing with her patient she stood up, following Lucas' sister with her eyes. "Evie?" she called out to her in confusion. Not so much confusion like the others must be feeling, but confusion that she isn't going to confront her mother. She knows a few things, but she's a little dumbfounded right now. She could be reading something wrong. Social cues and body language haven't been her forte. She over heard Lucas' mother of all people. She overheard Lucas' name. His full name, according to his mother. Micheal Christian Allanach. Drew raised a brow and dropped his jaw as well.
"Lucas?" he asked in the same way Olivia called after Evie. He's being a broody teenager. Sort of a jerk. The things he's saying to his own mother! This is how he greets his mom after so long?
Checking in on his mother, Claire, Drew got the idea of her personality. She seems like a normal, nice enough. But both of the twins react in a negative way. Drew won't blindly go with this woman but this is a red flag in some way. Perception is key.
"I'm sorry, ma'am. I don't know why they're acting this way either. My name is Drew. I'm Lucas and Evie's friend," he greeted her. Still saying Lucas, sinc ethat's how he addresses him. Claire may have something to say about that....

"I'm sorry, did you say he ran away? He just... ran off?" Drew asked. This is a lot to take in all at once. Clearly he's overwhelmed with information. The Captain and Dr Wilson watched from afar, Olivia walking to Ms. Allanach as she stand with the guys. Of all things on his mind, Drew thought about one thing. His name. Lucas Fletcher... or Micheal Christian Allanach... why? Why go by a different name, no way the mother is wrong about his name. Has he been lying to them? Coming to Inezia was just a refugee story where he started his life anew to be at peace. Is Lucas running away from something he did? What's going on here?"
Olivia extended her hand to Claire in a professional manner. "Olivia Scott. I work with the Inezian City Defense. You seem like you have had a long journey. May I... get you anything?" she remained professional in the immediate tense situation breaking out. Looking over at the twins she tilted her head. Drew just shook his head at Lucas, mouthing 'what the hell' to him in great confusion.

Max' face read as incredible stunned and confused with Evie proclaiming she would not be a part of the task at hand, instead helping people very far away from... her mother. Her and Lucas' mother. A refugee in Inezia, she's here after a treacherous journey. But she isn't calling Lucas his his name. Instead she's...
"Momma drama say what now?" Jane ran to the group meeting with Ms. Fletcher. No, Ms. Allanach. Allanach. This woman is Lucas and Evelyn's mom; having come from Hell in a hand basket to safety being met by hostility and nothing a mother would expect. Jane knew Lucas had stuff regarding his mom he didn't talk about, so she sensed a little backstory about to come out. What she did not expect was for him to be called "Micheal Christian Allanach." Lucas Fletcher. His name is Lucas Fletcher. Though a mother, no matter how old unless she suffers dementia, could forget her child's name. She noticed Evie and called her Evie. But Lucas is not Lucas?

Part of the group assembling at his mother, Jane added to the questions possibly overwhelming Lucas. "She called Evie 'Evie.' But why didn't she call you Lucas? What's going on?" she sounded like a kid just as confused in a museum of prehistoric nature. She's been thrown under the identity bus. A big yellow bus. "Compassion seems ironic now," she said to herself, greeting Claire with a warmer expression than she had a moment ago from confusion. "Jane's the name, and honestly confused is the game." Keeping her character in line, as always.
Calvin watched everything and kept more to the back. Distantly he observed this woman, the mother of Lucas and Evie, act so happy to see her kids after an admittedly long time. Her children not thrilled to see her, Lucas being called Micheal, Evie just storming away from the woman. He wouldn't greet his own mother like that but something has to be up for them to be this way. Not like them at all to act so crude. Max inspected Evie as Lucas did, Tanner keeping away form it all since he would be a little out of the element. Jane's got a point. Lucas specifically got called by another name, and Evie's name stayed normal. Selective memory? An upset old woman might have that. But this is just weird. "Micheal Christian Allanach.... Evelyn Allanach?" Calvin asked himself in a quiet voice. He needed to hear that last name paired with the twins. Evie must have taken her adoptive name in the foster system. But Lucas isn't remotely close to what his mother claims...

Neither of them could believe how Claire spoke of Lucas. Genuinely worried and loving, upset that he ran away so long ago and now that he's back in her arms he is running again. "Commander Calvin Taylor," he kept the professional manner Olivia had, "nice to meet you Mrs. Allanach." This does not make any sense whatsoever. Lucas, the nice quiet one, becoming a dick to his long lost mother and now he isn't even named Lucas? Fake ID or something. Evie isn't even entertaining talking to the woman. "We could probably speak in a more comfortable environment elsewhere, right everybody?" It's about time to get Claire and the rest of these people somewhere else if they're ready to move.

Lucas didn't respond as Drew or Jane as they asked him what was going on. This wasn't the place to go into detail. Especially not with that woman around. He'd hoped to be rid of her after leaving Zalfari. And until now he had been. He'd finally gotten his things together and started to feel better. Had all of that now been for naught? All that hard work in starting a new life as far away from his mother as possible, gone in a single afternoon. Heck, in even less than an hour even. He walked off, heading over to his sister way on the other side of the area. Tidal glanced at the twins, shaking his head. He didn't understand. He just didn't. If he'd see his mother again after such a long time... Tidal couldn't even imagine how happy he would be. Not a chance in the world he could respond in such a cold manner. How's compassion Lucas' thing here? He shook his head and turned back to Claire.
"My name's Tidal. Or well... that's what people have been calling me for quite some time now," he said. "Might I ask... he introduced himself to us as Lucas, How's it that...?" he didn't finish the question.

"Lucas?" Claire asked, repeating the name slowly and shaking her head. "No, no. His name is Chris," she once again assured everyone else. She looked at them all with a sad smile as they'd all introduced themselves. Equally shocked and surprised to learn the truth about their friend. "It... would be nice to talk, yes. Someplace different and more suited." Claire glanced around, grateful to be in the safety of a city once again, but thinking that the makeshift refugee camp was not the best place to talk about pasts and families. She looked towards her children and cast her eyes down, genuinely hurt to be met with so much hostility. After such a long and dangerous journey through the Wastelands... It wasn't even sure if she was going to make it, if there was still any room in the city. Claire had been so grateful she could be let in, and she'd felt so happy to see the face of her long lost son. But instead of happiness and kindness she was met with nothing but coldness and hatred. It hurt her deeply.

Tidal couldn't say anything other than that he was shocked. The pain on Claire's face was that of a heartbroken woman. A family that had been torn apart by whatever circumstances, and now that they had a chance to reunite she was rejected so harshly by both of her children. He just lightly shook his head in complete and utter disbelief. Claire clearly looked like there were a lot of things she had to get off her chest, things she had to talk about to someone who was willing to listen. But out here was not the place. Anyone could agree to that.
"Perhaps we could go to the Corner? Have something warm to drink and talk?" he offered.
Claire smiled, giving a small nod. A nice warm cup of coffee or tea would be very much welcomed.
---
The twins hadn't come along to The Corner, surprise surprise. They'd stayed behind tending to the refugees as the others took Claire to The Corner. Whether they were still there or had by now headed back to Lucas' apartment is up for the question. This moment just focuses on those who'd decided to go to the Corner to have a chat with Claire and hear just what had happened three years ago. Claire had her hands folded around the steaming cup peering into the liquid and reminiscing about the past.
"I'm not sure how much it is my place to go into detail," she said. "After all, this is Chris' story as well and if apparently he doesn't truly trust you enough to tell about it..." She shook her head. "It's always been a habit of his to be a bit secretive and lie about the little things. I never thought he'd one day even lie about his name, however." There was a hint of disappointment in her voice, the way any parent would be disappointed in learning their child had done something bad. "I just... I've just been so worried about my boy." Claire sniffed, desperately attempting to holding back her tears. "We had a bad argument a bit over three years ago. When I woke up the next morning, Chris was gone. As were some of his belongings. He didn't even leave a note. I spend days searching, hoping he would come back again. When nobody could find him I feared the worst." The poor woman gave up on trying to hold back her tears and just let them flow freely. "When I saw him here, I at first couldn't even believe my eyes. I was too scared to believe I had actually found him back after thinking my poor boy was dead. And when it did turn out to be him..." Claire fell silent. They'd all seen how warmly she'd been greeted by her son. "I just don't know what's gotten into him. Or his sister."

Chris again. Michael Christian Allanach. Not Lucas Fletcher. Before they had all gone to the Corner she called Lucas Chris again. Reacting to their mother in such a displeased manner caught Drew off guard. First they're honoring Lucy's death seven years after by having a picnic with friends. Next they're going to help refugees at the city entrance. Now they're dealing with Lucas and Evie going full rogue at the appearance of their mother, resorting the ones who'd never met the woman to comfort her as her children fuck off like spoiled brats. Drew isn't going to pretend their apprehension to her isn't a little alarming but until he knows what's up he is going to tell them straight up they're being idiots. Harsh given Evie is his friend and Lucas is his friend and more.
---
The Corner. Last time Olivia was here she saved the shop from a gunman while a walking talking tuba invade Inezia. Now she's with her boyfriends heartbroken refugee mother. She can't come in for a simple cup of coffee here can she? Isaac wanted to stay and help the other refugees but being left alone with them and the workers sounded kind of stressful. He went home shortly before the rest left for the Corner. Dr Wilson retreated to HQ. Captain Scott however ventured to the Corner with his team and Ms Allanach. That's a twist. Never see the boss get involved. Kindly, Olivia offered Claire a tissue from her purse. Such an occasion like the picnic today was call for a purse. Tissues usually get used to clean off makeup or wipe her own mouth when eating but this is a good time for them. The story this woman is telling... Lucas having an act for lying on little things, her worry over him storming out three years ago. It made Olivia sick to her stomach, almost...
"That is an awful thing to experience. I'm sorry, Ms. Allanach. Lucas--...Michael, I mean, has been a good friend to these people and myself. I won't go to detail but he's served this city to his best ability. Eveline, as well." The Captain sounded proud of Lucas but definitely sympathetic to Claire. She isn't talking about Evie a lot. And he isn't outright about to tell this woman her son is the Yellow Ranger.
"It is awful yes. I'm sure you could have looked for him harder, though. If you were so afraid you could have reported him missing or asked Zalfari's city defense about his whereabouts of he left the city or something," Olivia reasonably said. Not to sound insensitive, for she shows softness still. She's more asking if Claire did that but she put it in a statement instead.

Drew gently patted Claire's arm. The woman has gone through so much. The last hour alone must be too much for her to handle. Lucas sounded so angry to see her. This woman sounds and looks so devastated... "You would think after so long he'd be happy to see his mother. However things were left, seeing you again in this world and how it is had to affect him better than that. I'm sorry he behaved that way..." Drew apologized on Lucas' behalf. As if Lucas would just enter the Corner by chance when he says that. He just left her after a fight. No goodbye or anything. What kind of a person does such a thing?
---
Blood dispatched into the city some time ago. On a roof he overlooks everything. His plan is being set into motion. "Dynatron, are you in position?" It's time to blow this town away. Hmph. Blow this town away. Literally and figuratively.

This poor woman is under a lot. Survived and braved the wasteland from God knows where to be met with her children after years, turned away by them and ignored like she's common trash. Sensing her hurt it only felt right to take her to the Corner. Hot coffee or tea, whatever she wants, its on them. Really who would make a refugee pay for something just an hour after they arrive in the city? The economy is in trouble sometimes but surely its never stooped that low. Max stayed behind to help the refugees at the city gates while Tanner did all he could and left eventually. Jane and Calvin obviously went on to the Corner with the others. Lucas' sad mom aside, who would pass up the opportunity to see Captain Scott out of HQ? That's happened maybe one time since Jane has met him. It's unnatural!
Chris' story was kept from them. Because Chris decided to keep it that way. Doesn't matter if he has stuff he doesn't like talking about. He should at least trust his friends enough to tell them the truth and open up to them. Jane won't even think of him as Lucas now. He's a stranger more or less.

Calvin on the other hand is just baffled with Claire's story. He had a tendency to lie about little things, a bad argument led him to take his shit and go... dramatic much? Three years ago and she hadn't seen him since. Something about that didn't really add up in the back of Calvin's mind. If it was three years ago, then what...nah, save that thought for later. Just listening now. Calvin shared his sympathies with Claire, nodding with a smile as the Captain praised both of her children in their efforts for the city. The way Claire's talking he sounds like a different person. Ran out on his mother without a word. He shows up in Inezia and just starts life anew. So he had either ran away from Zalfari because it was just not his home any longer or something drove him away in a hurried manner. Not what they should expect out of the Spirit of Compassion. The human spirit equation is missing a variable now. "May I ask what the argument was about?" Calvin asked softly, not to pry or sound too hasty.

"Mrs. Allanach, I have a question too. You're talking a lot about Lu--...Chris. (Luchris? ) What about Evie? If that's her real name. What's her deal?" Jane wanted to know about that in more detail too. Suspicion. "Is there anything else you can tell us about your kids? What were they like growing up... does your son really lie as much as you say? It's hard telling what I know about him is real anymore... " Jane asked and shook her head. "Is there even a Lucy?" That very last bit was more to herself. Asking if Lucy even existed was completely to herself but she asked it out loud in the sense that she was talking to herself and it didn't need to be answered.

Claire gladly accepted the tissue and used it to wipe her eyes. "I tried so hard to find him, called for all the help I could find... but it was all to no avail. It was as if he'd just vanished, gone without a trace," Claire shook her head and folded her hands around the cup of coffee again. She seemed glad to hear Lucas and Eveline both had been of such great help to protect the city, but more than that still devastated how she'd been... welcomed by her children. She stared into her cup, as if the answer to Calvin's question was floating in there somewhere before lightly shaking her head. "Something silly, most likely. Any kind of argument a parent could have with their teenage child. My poor boy hadn't been doing very well after Eveline was taken away from us. And so shortly after his best friend died as well..." She sighed and glanced around the corner. Almost as if she was expecting something. Perhaps the idle hope her children would walk in and apologize. Tidal took note and smiled sadly. He felt so sorry for this poor woman! He just couldn't understand... Why would Lucas... Chris... run away after a petty argument, to disappear from the world and show so much hostility towards his mother when they were reunited after years? Tidal himself, too, had run away from his home many years ago. Finding his home had brought along a flash of memories, and so much pain and regret. Tidal didn't even know if his parents were still somewhere out there, alive in the Wasteland, straggling... If he'd ever see them again, he'd be beyond grateful.
"I am so sorry this happened to you, mrs Allanach..." he said full of disbelief.

Claire smiled, touched by everyone's kindness. She looked at Jane to answer her question. "Eveline's real name... Well, that's Eveline. The poor girl got herself into some serious trouble as a young teen. Officials took her out of our care and moved her to a city many miles away from us. It was impossible to stay in touch with her... As children the two of them were sweethearts. Mischievous and rowdy at times, but such sweet children. But as teens they became more and more rebellious. They were quite the handful," Claire laughed for a moment, as if she remembered some of their antics. "I can understand you or your friends are no longer sure what to think of him... if he even lies about something as simple as his name, then who knows? Even I am no longer sure what to think. It's like my boy has become a complete stranger."
---
Back at the apartment, Lucas and Eveline had spend their time in deep conversation.
"I just don't understand why she showed up here and now," Eveline growled and leaped off the couch for the fifth or so time.
"Refugees come and go every day, you should know," Lucas said. "But... why here indeed? There's plenty of other places." Lucas had picked up the photo album again, flipping through the pages and coming to a halt when he stumbled upon an old family photo. Lucas and Eveline, between their parents, smiling at the camera as if there wasn't a care in the world. If only anyone had known what was going to happen so shortly after the picture was taken. Their parents probably did. They'd likely known it for a long time. But the twins, back then, had no clue how abruptly their innocent childhood would come to an end. "One thing I do dare to say for sure... Mom hasn't changed. If she's back, everything is just going to continue again."
"I just hope they'd move her to someplace on the other end of the city. As far away from us as possible. I don't ever want to see that bitch in my life again."
"On that we agree," Lucas said, turning his attention back to the photo. Their mother hadn't changed... not... one... bit... Something didn't quite add up. The picture was taken years before, yet their mother looked just the same. "Eve? I think we need to find the others..." Lucas said slowly.
---
And cutting back to the city, in an alleyway near the Corner, sat Dynatron, eagerly awaiting Blood's call. "In position and ready to get fired up! It's BOOM TIME!" Dynatron excitedly yelled into the comm piece before shooting dynamite into the street ahead, causing what would be the first of many explosions. Poor Blood must be deaf in one ear now, after Dynatron shouted like that, excitedly and maniacally laughing as he tossed Dynamite around the way a flowergirl would throw petals at a wedding. Now that's an odd thought. Whereas a little girl throwing flower petals might have people go "aaw", a large robot throwing dynamite around made them run for their lives, screaming in terror as things around them were engulfed in flames.

A text message from Drew to Lucas read as follows.
"Chris. What the hell is going on? Where are you two? You have some things we need to talk about pronto! Please meet us at the Corner. As your friend I'm worried, confused, and a little hurt. Get here asap." He texted Lucas under the table, not to be insensitive to Claire's story. He had to contact Lucas somehow and get him here. If he can get into that shop maybe this all becomes easier. Or harder depending on how angsty he wants to be today. He half expected a reply to come up saying he was busying moving a crew of refugees into his apartment. While that'd be awesome and truly compassionate, it'd be another lie. Claire's hurt was genuine and her kids didn't care. Evie was a troublemaker to the extent she got moved from Zalfari to Tregaron? "Evie did something so bad she got moved? Moving a kid to another city is a serious thing.... nobody transports to other cities without reason," Drew commented, shocked that Evie of all people was more or less kicked out of her hometown.
Lies, lies and more lies. Lucas' side of the story would be appreciated if he had the guts to face his mother after treating her so poorly. "Kinda makes you wonder, huh guys? We'd have to hear it from him but there's no telling what he's lied about." Drew isn't a blind believer. This is Lucas' mother. His side is needed but he has no reason not to see things her way. This poor woman. "Now I wonder if he lied about knowing how to cook this whole time. Does he look things up beforehand?" Drew slightly joked to the others but would definitely catch Claire's attention.

"He can't be lying about everything. He and I..." Olivia began to say, a choke to her voice...and then she remained silent. No. No it's impossible. There's an explanation. Something isn't right here. "What of their father? If I may ask?"

Flinching at Dynatron's excessive volume in the earpiece, Blood affirmatively nodded and changed up. His visor display allowed him to see things from a monitoring perspective. Heated explosions and tossed dynamite created just what they needed to get this plan into action. The first phase already went perfectly into motion. Now phase two begins with a bang. Sorry, had to! "Won't be long before the wedge drives them apart and they lose precious time arguing and debating while we blow the city to smithereens. That or we destroy our target after taking away what he cares for the most. Excellent." Blood monologues as Dynatron rampages. What seems like an unrelated attack to what is going on is furthering a plot thickening more and more by the moment right under their noses. Blood himself mobilized to Dynatron's location. But first...he has a stop to make.

Captain Scott received an incoming alert on his comm device. Excusing himself from Claire he answered it out of range from the table. Wilson and HQ took note of the firework show in Inezia. Damn. Of all the times, too. Clearing his throat and not going into formal panic mode, he brought himself back to the table. "I'm afraid we must continue this conversation later. Ms. Allanach, your sons friends are needed for their work elsewhere. I'd be more than happy to escort you someplace else, if you wish," the Captain calmly said. What a friendly thing to do for Lucas' mom! But it looks like the father question would be answered later. What, over a dinner she cooks for them or something? Unlikely...

"Yes, our work. My apologies, Claire. We will speak later yes? I look forward to it, really," Olivia smiled softly at her, excusing herself from the table. Drew did the same. Duty does call, and this is definitely not over yet. So many questions, still... poor woman may be tired anyway.
"Whenever we finish we'll find you again. Maybe get your children to join us, even," Drew faintly promised. As the Captain forwarded Wilson's message to Lucas to alert him of the attack in the city, Drew shot another text bearing the same thing. "Get in the city now. Code red."
