[Pokepunk] Discussion and FAQs

Yes, my mistake. This is all a little new to me, too, even if i did write the content.

Though you should take it with a grain of salt. The locals would refer to it as Route 1, but it's TECHNICALLY Route 23. The nations might be part of the same country now, but there's still a lot of rivalry between them.

In order to advance from a Route, you must battle at least 2 wild Pokemon, and do any combination of 3 of the following:

1) Hold a street show

2) Have a trainer battle

3) Have a Pokemon competition

4) Explore the wilds

5) Participate in an event

Erk. I mentioned a sky-bridge in Chakris, but that might not fit with the not industrialized description, so let me know if I should take that out.

I think I will be having my character do Ranger stuff as well, as that is about as opposed to the high class industrialized lifestyle she used to have. Right now though, she's just tromping off in search of adventure.

In case you are wondering, she's so cheery and happy because she is alone with her pokemon. Once humans enter the picture, she'll be back to her stoic self. :)

'Sall cool. Your character. Remember, there's nothiong stopping you folks from doing all three.

OH I forgot about reputation! If you fought another Pokemon trainer, increase your fame by 1.

Actually I'll need someone who has a solid understanding of how encounter tables work and is willing to update threads the way I've been doing.

I'd think most anyone on the site could figure out an encounter table. :)

On another note.. I played yellow and silver back in the day, but nothing since then. If I'm totally doing it wrong in terms of pokemon ethics let me know. :-P

Willing to do the latter, but I'd need to learn about the former. I see that you throw a D50 from the Main Guide, and Bulbapedia mentions rarities for pokemon in each video game? If all the information's accessible, I could give it a shot.

Did I? i think I'm going to need an assistant for this game.
Naw you just like my Eevee better is all.

And cirno, do you have a marginal knowledge of pokemon, or at least capable of utilizing bulbpiedia?

Are you moderately capable of following Uziels instructions?

Are you creative?

if so, youd be a good candidate to help out.

That's a pretty good summary of what I need, actually.

Any ways Im pretty sure You wont have to worry about Randomizing encounters, or anything, Im pretty sure he has special charts already made up based off the level and rarity of pokemon encounters in an area. Hell im pretty sure hes got one for most of the different environments people will run into as well as a chart outlining the rarity level. If he hasnt yet then im sure he is planning to.

Hes usually pretty good about making charts and things for randomizing stuff makes his job easier the more he doesnt actually have to sit down and think about, hell you'd probably almost be able to plug it into a computer for variables for a video game.

Well, Uziel has just been using the forum dice roller. All you need is a table that lists what encounters correspond to each number, really. After that, its all roleplaying and knowing about the pokemon you've rolled up (for wild encounters at least).

Now hold on here folks. Particularly you, Cirno. Let me speak for myself and my game, please.

The reason I want an assistant is because from the weekend I've observed that most of my time is not writing content, but updating threads, so I'm doing a lot of this by the seat of my pants. And some of my players are on at different times. I essentially need someone to take another 'shift' so that they can get the updates they want to properly advance.

I appreciate any content input anyone has. But remember that it's still my final say.

As far as the Encounter tables go, I first check to see what Habitat they are in. Then I check to see if there are any restrictions on Pokemon rarity. For example, Route 01/13/23 only has Pest through Common. If there's only 1 or 2 types found, I don't bother with the Rarity, and just pull up all applicable. Then I count how many Pokemon are available, and then I roll again, to see which Pokemon is selected. If there is some kind of error or impossibility, like encountering a Fish Pokemon when you're in a grassland, I compensate by going to the nearest, usually next, possibility.

Incendius, don't expect that trick with the Drowzee to work twice.

*nod* I hadn't any plans on making approvals or the like.
