Mansel's Dragalge was very intimidating despite the fact that it was wearing a melting car tire. He had heard many things about this Dragalge from other grunts, who time to time gossiped about the Dragalge that was able to take out Regirock. Kenneth was surprised that such a Pokemon could take on one of the Regi trio and defeat it. Though he doubted that it would share the same results on the likes of Regice or Registeel since he heard that Dragalge were mainly poison, dragon types.

Mansel was a bit of a mess being smudged in oil and smelling like it as well. It didn't help with the burning acids that the tire made the air smell like burning rubber. The stench was so bad that Kenneth was half tempted to pinch his nose in order to save himself from it.

It didn't help that when Mansel started to explain their mission that Kenneth's displeasure was slightly showing. They were after the Wish Pokemon, Jirachi? Kenneth didn't know how to feel about this. He had heard many fairy tales and stories related to the Wish Pokemon. All depicted Jirachi as a friendly and kind Pokemon that granted wishes. If Blackleaf were able to capture Jirachi, then they might as well obtain all of the legendaries that inhabit this land. Of course that was if Jirachi complied. Kenneth slightly doubted that Blackleaf would even be able to capture Jirachi, let alone make it wish for legendaries. Besides being a strong mythical Pokemon by itself, it is said that it will only awaken once in a thousand of years.

"Sir, is there anything we need to know about the wild Pokemon in Fogma Falls?." Kenneth asked, "I'm not too worried about the trainers, but our efforts would be in vain if we manage to encounter strong wild Pokemon along the way." It was a slight concern of course. While he didn't doubt his teammates, he didn't think his chances were too high if they were to face against a strong rock type. Mandrawl and Maya's Vulpix would able to do little damage if that were the case. While he didn't know anything about Baron's pokemon, it would still be too much for him to handle. If that were the case they would have to either run away, or somehow lure the Pokemon somewhere else.

Then again Mansel was sending the three 'newest' grunts, so that was an answer itself, but didn't hurt to be a little cautious after all.

He didn't worry about trainers that much. If anything, Maya would eat them with her icy, cold glare. In all honesty though, they could always knock out the trainers if it got too troublesome. He would prefer if they didn't resort to that method. The only real plan in that situation would be to throw Maya at them, or do something irrational.

There wasn't any other question that Kenneth could think about aside his issue with wild Pokemon. Besides Mansel weird remark about being surprised that Maya's Vulpix was not Alonan or whatever, Kenneth didn't bother to ask anymore questions. Well there was one more question, but it would of been a stupid question. With that aside, Kenneth waited silently for his teammates questions. Knowing Baron and Maya the former would ask a ton of questions while the latter would probably ask fewer questions.

As Jack performed the dance, many pokemon around the waterfall peered curiously around him. A few zubat, a spheal looking up, a piplup barely surfacing in idle curiosity. None of them interupted the dance, but they all seemed nervous.

Slowly, a large figure began to rise out of the pool where the small waterfall hit, water rising up in a sphere almost, before dripping off revealing white glistening wings, directly behind Jack. Heavy breathing followed from the massive creature, and then a screech echoed throughout the cave.

- Team-

As the screech resounded throughout the cave, a definite tone change occurred. It was faint at first, but the running water was no longer the only sound. Flapping wings, frantic footsteps, jetting through water all came around, all from the same direction, from the direction of the footprints.

An instant later, dozens of pokemon started to flee past the trailers. Perhaps the funniest was a Walrein trying its best to run, but the rest were much faster, and upon the trainers in an instant... and mostly running past, splashing water everywhere. A young Zubat leapt at Micah's face, oblivious of the Honedge nearby, screeching directly at the trainer before attempting to latch on. Rather oddly, a gem nearby it shone, blasting it off with a ray of light. On a nearby wall, near where Honedge had been inspecting, the gems on the wall shuffled around, rearranging themselves against the wall. The wall behind them seemed a rather dark shade of purple. Another Zubat dove directly at Honedge himself though, trying to bite the pokemon in its way.

At Daria, a marril barrelled forward. Its way was blocked by a Sandshrew in the way of its path, probably cowed by the commotion. Rather than move to either side, the Marril puffed up, and growled at the Sandshrew, making a shoving notion towards it, and roughly trying to literally move the sandshrew out the way.

Lena's problem would be flying at her leg as a shade of blue, before small flippers wrapped around her legs, and began crying violently, a piplup shaking against her. If Stark ended anywhere near the crying penguin, it would find itself pulled unwelcomed into the hug, and into the running water below the trainers legs.

All around them, pokemon continued to run from the footprints in a panic.

Every box seemed empty; not in weight but in the way Arthur decided to fill it all with looks, looks that look with a right hook that shook. He couldn't break from looking at his poort Kenneth gotten his ribs jabbed. To have Maya with such anger, it was so unlike her. she needed a king. For a soul so lost to try to hurt one of the most loyal of comrades, oh Baron had to become her king. If not he would find a way to end her time here, humanely.

He may have kept a stare to Kenneth and put his hand on his shoulder.
He still listened.

The King's Trio would be the weecutters of grass.
Of course leaving the lowest level ranking grunts to cut would mean that the pokemon in that area would be relatively low level, if the leader was able to gather that information, which should easy enough to find in public pokedex records and at least harder than this information of the use of a Weather machine.
-Any pokemon information involving the leader is verified.
The grunts are probably of the same level. Anyone with at least a large gap strength with their pokemon should be higher ranking, of course the use of strong pokemon to be at the frontline of clearing would be a fair plan as well; however, Baron has noticed the tendencies of Maya's Vulpix. Her doting or checking on her Vulpix is common enough to seem like she wasn't boasting on the strength of Vulpix. Vulpix and Furfrou were probably the same level of battle experience. Even not knowing Kenneth's pokemon, that would 2/3 of a group having the same low level.
-The trio were of the same battle level is verified.
The Leader may be in a rush, but he would not want to make waste time with grunts being knocked out by wild pokemon and local trainers.
-The wild pokemon can be handled by grunts is verfied.
Jirachi. This is news of the pokemon near there, now has it been living there or a wanderer. If it was a wanderer than it's level could be unpredictable. However, if it had been living than it's a good chance it was able to assert dominance or justificaiton of its territory from other pokemon thanks to its level. Its level would just need to be enough to conquer the pokemon of the area.
-Jirachi has 50% that its just stronger than the pokemon of the area.
-To reiterate, Leader noted that there could be a chance to see Jirachi.
-There could be a chance to grab Jirachi. With a fantastic plan.

That's when Baron decide.
He would wish for Maya. To make her wish come true or to make her disappear. .
Baron spoke soft to Kenneth, "Are you going to be okay?"

As the group walked down the tunnel into the ziggurat, pathways ran down into the darkness, into a cave system, a stone path still showing the way. plop, plop, the ceiling dripped to a cavern floor below, though with Luc walking forward, there was little darkness, as long as the group stayed together. Anyone left behind would have quite some trouble though. The stone pathway continued in an open cave, winding down a pillar in a circular motion. If anyone looked at the pillar, it was covered in ancient drawings, and several drawings seem to giggle as the group passed them. However, no pokemon attacked them, and the drawings stood still. The pathway continued onto a bridge. As another drop of water fell off the cave, splattering into large lake below them, a bobbing was heard. Then a loud pokemon cry.

The bobbing continued under them, following them as they explored the ruins. The stone bridge led past a large stone engraving.

Older than we are
We found them, much like our ancestors
Older than Legend
They do not change
We do not change
May we battle like they of old
Ancients knew these pokemon well,
and so we come here to catch the -

The rest of the stone slab was cut to ribbons, deep gashes leaving anything anywhere near the same level as the bridge unreadable. The slashes continued onto the bridge itself. Under the group, the bobbing became a splash as something below surfaced, and crawled on land under the three. It skittered on the underside of the bridge, climbing up from where they had come from.

Yea know those moments where you do something, not because you thought it through but just because it was an option.

And said option ended with you being faced with a god of the sea...

Who was typed as flying and psychic?

Seriously what the hell was that shit? Sea god bird thing and it was typed as flying and psychic...

Jack stood before the screeching creature, proudly displaying it's power before the trainer who unknowingly had proposed the challenge before it's most sacred altar. And all this train, so brazen to summon it without a care in this world. Or perhaps too many to actually think about the problems of what he would be unleashing on the world.

Oh well.

Well, that might be a missused "oh well" as Jack was currently nearly pissing himself as he stood in fear before the gigantic legendary pokemon, pokeball in hand but to afraid to toss it...A thoroughly frightened Pecha currently latched onto his shoulder, he now chose the most appropriate action to take at this current moment in time.

He ran away.

But he could not escape.

Maya Kauffman

Ignoring Kenneth's overreaction, Maya leaned against the wall and watched the entrance for Mansel's return. From the chaos outside, it likely wouldn't be much longer. A sideways glance to the pair of trainers. Should she say something to either of them while they waited? Though between Arthur's lack of volume control and Kenneth's tendency for dramatics... perhaps silence would be the better option.

Finally, Mansel strode back inside, removing any need for further internal debate. Grey eyes warily watched the Dragalge that floated in behind him. It hadn't been her first time laying eyes on the pokemon, but that didn't make it any less intimidating. Every muscle tensed as it let out a hiss toward Kurama, the Vulpix had jumped back to the concrete floor as Maya leaned against the wall. Ice cut through her veins as the kit growled back. Despite his attempt at coming off as a threat, the fur bristling on the back of his neck and his tails low to the floor told a different story. He dove behind Maya's legs the moment Mansel called off his own pokemon.

Focused so intently on the dragon in front of her and the pounding of her heart in her ears, Maya missed their leader's remark on her own pokemon. Not... that she had any idea what was special about Alolan's Vulpix. Letting out a breath she hadn't realized she was holding, Maya tried to focus on their briefing.

A pokemon known as jirachi had been found and they were to clear out and guard the area, the job seemed straightforward enough. Though if the fog was heavy enough they were going to need the weather machine to clear it out, that could easily make matters more difficult. Kurama's hearing was keen, she trusted him to alert her to any nearby threats. Though she still knew nothing of the other two's pokemon or abilities.

"I'm unfamiliar with Jirachi," Maya finally spoke up, "what do we know about it, if anything?"

The group continued further into the tunnel. It was quiet, apart from the sound of their feet waddling against the water and the occasional water dripping from the ceiling. Then there came the screech. Stark, who had been controlled by Lena all this time went fluttering above her head, chirping like mad. Nothing Lena said pacified him.

Pokemon flooded the tunnel. Lena protected her eyes with her hands when she felt something wet hugging her leg. A piplup.

"...cute," said Lena.

Stark obviously didn't agree. The starly, upon discovering the pokemon hugging Lena's leg, complained by harassing it with pecking and chirps. His action backfired when the piplup instead brought him into the hug, much to his dismay. Its chirp was drowned by water as he was partially submerged.

Lena found it quite amusing, really. As if sensing her amusement, the starly glared at his trainer. Oh, fine.

"Stark, return," Lena took out Stark's pokeball from her bag and saved the starling from his misery. As for the piplup...

"Do you want to come with me?" she patted its head. Oblivious to the zubats flying over her heads and woopers running passed her legs, Lena asked the piplup as if nothing was happening.

-Mansel Blythe-

Mansel folded his arms, honestly expecting more questions. His Dragalge seemed to cackle at Maya's vulpix, but complied, near floating away as the tire on top of it dissolved completely, the burning rubber smell getting worse, before finally starting to dissipate. Mansel, however, had a face of granite, and didn't react in the least.

"Very well. Pokemon in Fogma falls. It's a sight of many meteor crashes, the very ground's iron at this point. Those two things means it tends to attract dragon and steel type pokemon. Be careful not to slip. Or forget your mission, I hear its fairly beautiful up there. To be honest, I look forward to following your vanguard.

As far as Jirachi, its a fairly powerful steel physic type. There's some myth about it sleeping a thousand years, and granting wishes. I don't care about that. I care if its strong. I doubt it's a literal 1,000 years it's asleep. If it turns out it grants a wish, let me know, but myths are myths after all. You lot are to secure the site, scare off any wild pokemon, beat any trainers.

I will give you lot my personal number, let me know if there are any complications. Do. not. waste my time. I am not your mommy, I am your boss. Collect your paychecks before you go, there's a slight bonus. Less me being nice, and more that I've heard life insurance is a thing."

With that, he handed out a small slip of paper to Kenneth, and turned to the showers, a slight sickening squelch heard from one of his boots as oil came out of it. If anyone looked outside the base, they would discover a police car absolutely destroyed, with the sides of a door melted in, the engine scattered around the front yard, and the officers long since run away.
===============

The trip to Fogma Falls would take several days, no matter which way one diced it. The roads were rough, and pokemon were everywhere along the trip. Nimbos Town and Laketown were both good places to resupply, but after that was bare wilderness for quite some time.

The roar of the falls could be heard before seen, a mighty waterfall crashing into the river below as the lot approached it. The water was extremely fast-moving, and anyone caught in it probably would end up in Laketown before they knew it... if they made it in one piece.

The cliff that had the falls itself was a dazzling display of colors. Mostly red and black rock, the black shone luminescent like a rainbow, only being more colorful by the splashing water of the falls. While it was pretty, it presented the grunts with their first task, how were they going to get up?

Kenneth Vano

Kenneth nodded, frown still plastered on his face, and turned to look at the slip of paper. It seemed like he made a decent first impression on the boss. Not that he cared anyway, he just acted serious so that he wouldn't get yelled at for being silly. Stuffing the slip of paper into his pocket, he turned to Baron. His posture immediately disappeared and was replaced with a slight slouch and his joking smile resurfaced back onto his face. Now with the boss was gone, he could finally relax again. "Aaaah, it's fine Baron. It's my fault for not noticing the two feet tall, red, furry Vulpix that was on Maya's shoulder." Kenneth said with a smile.

"You should probably get use to Maya." Kenneth turned to look back at Maya before leaning over and whispering into Barons ear, "She's like an angsty Seviper, so you shouldn't really expect her to be that cooperative." If anything, his remark was an complete exaggeration when regarding to Maya. If her quiet, cold nature was anything to go by, then she was just unuse to talking with other people. Something that would be soon rectified as the worked together... Hopefully. Now pulling himself straight back to his slouch Kenneth yawned into his hand, "Well... I'm going to borrow someone's cellphone real quick since I don't actually own one." Kenneth turned and started to walk out the room. Before he went out he turned back to Maya and Baron. "See you soon," He said as he waved back at Baron and Maya rapidly in goodbye. His waving was especially long towards Maya before he left the room in order to retrieve a cellphone.

Now left by himself, Kenneth moved down the hall. Jirachi, The Wish Pokemon. The Pokemon that was able to grant wishes when it had awakened from its thousand year slumber. Kenneth was amused by the prospect that Mansel didn't really seem to believe that Jirachi could grant wishes. Of course having your wish come true seems a little farfetch'd. Though Jirachi was definitely able to make wishes come true. Myths had a degree of truth to them, no matter how unreal they were. The Songstress Of The Stars, The Spoink That Touched The Moon, and of course Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, and many other sources that had referenced Jirachi, in a way, all had one consistent truth. That Jirachi was able to wish for anything good. Though he still highly doubted that they would meet the mythical Pokemon. What were the chances of it actually appearing anyway? One in a million?

Finally reaching his destination, he went over to one of Blackleaf's mechanic who was busy organizing materials and electronics. "Hey." The mechanic turned and looked at Kenneth. "You need something rookie?" The mechanic said as he turned back to focus on organizing. "Yea, do you have an extra cellphone I can borrow? I don't have one." Kenneth said as he leaned onto the counter with his stomach. The mechanic gave him a look that said, "Are you serious?" before turning back and looking through the boxes. The Mechanic just rummaged his hand into one of the boxes and grabbed one of the cellphones. "Here!" Kenneth barely caught the thrown cellphone. "Now leave me alone, I have boxes that I need to organize." Kenneth waved goodbye to the man before leaving to meet up with others. Now that he had a cellphone, he registered Mansel's contact information into phone so that he could contact him when needed.

-----------------------

Fogma Falls was as beautiful as Mansel said it was. Beside the fact it was littered with small craters all over the place, it had a fair feeling coming out of it. The waterfall crashing down onto the riverbed, the myriad of colors that assault his eyes as he looked at the cliffs, and the Pokemon that didn't seem to take notice their presence yet. He would take a picture of the falls, if he was actually interested in the falls itself. It was pretty and all, but that was all there was too it. What they needed to do now was to clear the area out of wild Pokemon and trainers. He had a little fear on how they were going to chase off dragon types, seeing as some adult dragon type Pokemon were rather protective of their young, example being Salamence.

That could wait however, he had to introduce his little friend to his partners. Grabbing Mandrawl's pokeball off of his belt, he released the Whismur out. Kenneth could hardly make out Whismur's cry as it was released out from its pokeball. Curiously, it looked around the surroundings. It eyes lingered at the falls, the cliff, and then to his partners. It slightly shied away when looking at Baron, but when it looked at Maya- Mandrawl immediately started to hide behind Kenneth's leg. Kenneth let out a soft, genuine, laugh as he knelt down and comforted the shy Whismur with soft pats between its ears.

"Please be careful when you are around Mandrawl," Kenneth said as he looked up to Baron and Maya. "I cannot vouch for you two when he bursts your eardrums when you scare him." He winked at Maya. Looking back down at the Whismur. "C'mon calm down, I'll be working with these people so please get use to them." Kenneth said in a soft term as he continued give comforting pats to the Whismur. The Whismur just nodded as it continued to hide behind Kenneth's leg. Taking out Mandrawl's pokeball, he returned the Whisper Pokemon back into its Pokeball. There was no need for him to be out anymore. If anything his shy nature would only cause a huge disturbance. He only needed the Whisper Pokemon to be at least somewhat familiar with his partner's faces.

"Now with that out of the way, how are we going to get up there?" Kenneth asked to no one in particular. He as sure as hell didn't have a flying type Pokemon. If they were lucky that could find some road that lead up into the top of Fogma Falls. If not then they would have to somehow climb up there, and Kenneth did not like the idea. Though that would have to come after they flushed the Wild Pokemon and trainers alike out of the falls.

Every word, Kenneth spoke with the hope that needed to be shared with Maya. For him to be so respectful to always call Arthur by his current title. A one-on-one with him then Maya would truly save all of them. And as Arthur picked up his paycheck. He had to think how he would get them to help him judge Maya's sins. Yeah, they were sins at this point. Not correcting a mistake is a second mistake.
-----------
There was a few stops on they way, but currently break the group. Too much worry for gentle Kenneth to not keep on an eye on Maya. It was true about what he said about her; her looks to people who would pass her on the roads, not there. How could any normal soul not want to consitantly look around and think how they could have that person? She truly wasn't a normal, if still human soul.
But as a King, her and the waterfall should be maneageable.
It was the time to lead! After not speaking a word during the journey, in the bad attempt of giving Maya a chance at forgiveness. Even when buying 10 Pokeballs and a few potions from the clerk. Arthur pulled out his notebook when they stopped at the waterfall, just to make sure he noted a new guideline as king.

#79: Cannot expect someone to ask for forgiveness if not given an exact method, after that give them some room on how general an apology is. Sign of a good king.

Pen tap, eyes up, Whismer in sight. Normal, kinda bad for their situation but thankfully good to push a policy. To get that Jirachi, they would need to expand their team, even just for momentarily. There being any suitable pokemon for a King, would be unlikely; he would just have to release them after the operation. Just as his friend would have. Kenneth snaps his fingers and a flash in front of him shows the wagging tail of Furfrou. The pair nod to each other.
furfrou.gif

"YES! I-wE should do more formal introduction with our pokemon if we are going have to develop an efficient system of clearing out whole craters of pokemon and trainers. This is, of course, the symbol of royalty Furfrou. And-"

Furfrou jumps and snatches another notebook, with various colored tabs sticking out, from under Arthur's cloak. Arthurs throws the notebook like a dove; Arthur snatches it like a squish toy. He begins to flip through.

"At our current levels, I'm assuming all of us have a pokemon with relativly same level. However,"
Arthur begins to show his team notebook pages as a flips.
"We already have an obvious enough dynamic. "[/FONT]

"Based on the general stats of Vulpix, we know that Maya pokemon has the potential to take a few Special Attacks. And with Whismur, I WILL assume that Whismur's can dish out Special Attacks. However, we all understand that Furfrou is essentially the strongest Pokemon. Since it needs no further evolution, from a biological and, of course, philosophical stance- he is the strongest thanks to his ability and his MOVE for, well me. He can take any Physical Attacks easy."

Arthur turns his back to the waterfall and scratches his head with the pen.

"The thing is, after everything I said, it doesn't mean that much. We are all lower level, Furfrou can probably at least take 2, maybe three pokemon of the same level...if they are physical attacks. All are advantges are slight. And look even worst with two Normal Types, since Normal is not very effective on Steel. We can't let Maya run around with just Vulpix. AND-Steel pokemon have the highest average defense, and all Furfrou knows is physical attackes, one wall against a much better wall..."

Arthur looks up at the falls, edging into the mist of the falling water. Even from this angle, it was only an okay sight. Kalos had enough competition for this little thing.

"Yeah we can find some decent way trying to straight up scale this, but you two wouldn't be as strong as, " Arhur pats his "bulging" biceps, "going around is fine too, a lot of good ways, but I will make the descision that we might as well catch some Dragon and Steel pokemon. Of course if they aren't up to our standards we can just get rid of them whenever, but for the time being they won't only make things easier not only getting over the fall but for our actual mission of clearing pokemon when we are up there. OF course if you two wish, I can be the only one catching, I of course will carry the burden. We are in a very poor positino at our current strength"
This also means a few possibilities: Blackleaf didn't keep track of that much personal info on members / they were limited on resources / Jirachi wasn't that high of a priority.
A nice Honedge would be nice.

"OH, " energy beams from Arthur's eyes again after the long explanation. Though, it was leading to a more important speech, "too make sure we all are on the same page. "
Arthur begins flipping through pages, of his notebooks, looking over scraps of info on a pokemon he hadn't really put that much focus on before this week.

"Jirachi, the Miracle/Mirage Pokemon category, pretty well rounded and not a real powerhouse when compared to other legendaries. Of course, compared to us, still a big challange There is decent information on battle stuff like its signature move Doom Desire, theorized that Jirachi actually wishes to damage an opponent. The wishing power though, is tricky. Every report on Jirachi has had somethind to do wishing, but the method.. Some have said you have to put a note on its head before it's awake, OH-and-it-can-fight-while-asleep, one person was able to sing, some say only during the 7 days it is awake it can grant wishes-how to trigger the wishing power is not clear, maybe differing between Jirachi(s). Being a Mirage Pokemon, people see it too rarely to make any substantial claims on environment conditions not affecting. "

Arthur pauses. He hands the notebooks and pen to Furfrou, the royal fluff puts them back. Arthur puts his hands in the waterfall, his foot twtiches. Climbing through a waterfall. would help his Kingly strength...but maybe not today, as his hand slammed downward, fast enough to have Arthur lose his balance for a second, but not that dear smile.
Arthur begins feeling the sides of the waterfall's ledge and, sorta, crab walk away from the waterfall-toward hope of finding some of those pokemon near it.

"Well. That's it! Now I'm going to catch Jirachi. You two can just tell me whenever what your goals, life goals .,are, "said to no one in particular.

Micah could feel the rumbling of the cave and a loud screech making its way through, echoing all around him and his companions. He turned all around, looking at Lena, then Redgie, then Daria, then the ceiling, and finally, the footprints. The boy could swear that he'd heard that sound somewhere before. Had it been during some expedition with Professor Sycamore? Did he hear it in a video? Was it a recording his parents had played for him? At the moment, the sound seemed like nothing more than a distant memory, desperately clawing at Micah's subconscious, trying to return to the boy's conscious thought. It might have been a figment of the boy's imagination or an instance of déjà vu, but Micah knew better. He knew that he had heard it somewhere and that it had been a real piece of memory, albeit one he could not place right then and there. Before he could ponder the issue more, a small purple figure out of his peripheral vision struck Micah's face, trying desperately to latch on. It was a zubat, and a very unwelcome zubat at that, as Redgie angrily lunged forward with the intention of cutting into the purple bat before a beam of light shot out of the wall and scared the zubat away, forcing Redgie to duck next to Micah.

Another zubat flew directly at the Honedge and tried to bite it, but Micah didn't notice for a moment, as he was too busy inspecting the gems on the walls. They were moving and rearranging themselves in ways Micah didn't think possible for fixed gemstones on a cavernous wall. Before he could fully inspect the now purple wall, Micah heard a cry from his Honedge, who was eagerly exchanging blows with the zubat who'd attempted to attack him. The boy quickly dove forward and pulled the zubat off from Redgie and held it out far from his face, shuffling from side to side awkwardly to allow the other fleeing pokemon to pass freely. It was clear to Micah that the zubat was not happy with being held, as it kept biting at his arms and hands, drawing some blood. "Calm down, little one! I'm just trying to help!" The zubat didn't seem to care, and it kept clawing and biting at the boy's hand, desperately trying to fly away. Micah would've gladly released it had it not been for the angry Honedge that was poking at his leg trying to get to the small purple bat.

It was then, as the cave echoed with the sounds of screeching pokemon, that Micah had a realization. His eyes shone bright with joy as he began jumping up and down, twirling around with the zubat in his hands, which was noticeably dizzy at that point. Redgie backed off, staring at the boy with a confused look in his eye, unsure of what exactly was going through his head. "I get it! I remember what that sound was!" His hands quickly loosened and let go of the zubat as the boy ran over to Redgie, bumping his handle with his fist as he pointed toward the footprints. "Don't you recognize it, Redgie? It's Lugia! Oh, dear Arceus, it's Lugia! In this cave! With us! Right now!" The Honedge suddenly seemed to understand the boy's excitement as it jumped up and down along with him, the realization of Micah's lifelong dream seemingly in sight, even if the boy was about to have a rude awakening. He suddenly bolted toward the footprints, following them as Redgie followed close behind. Micah quickly turned back to Lena and Daria to shout something at them. "Lena! Daria! I'm gonna go check it out, it's Lugia!"

Ever have those moments where you know you screwed up, the karmatic just deserts that comes immediately after all is said and done.

You can't blame anyone for it, you brought it upon yourself, and theres no way to avoid this mess.

Thus, your fight or flight drive kicks in, normally these stupid decisions don't allow such things to persist for long such as lighting a cigarette near and old gas station pump or slapping a tauros's arse. The recompense is immedate and oft times rather painful. This one involves Jack, and Pecha, cowering before a literal god level pokemon...

Lugia loomed over Jack, eyeing the man as the poor guy desperatly tried to figure out a way out. It had already let loose a series of beams, cutting rock and gen alike in it's rage...

If only...

If only he could distract it enough to get away!

What could he do that....

...Of course... Let zubats be zubats!

"H-hey there Lugia, sorry about the whole " summoning you thing" as it turns out it was a false alarm! Yea! Silly me!

Now ummm...

OHHEYLOOKATTHAT!" He yelled quickly, which caused the pokemon to momentarily look to the direction, exposing it's ear to the man. And that, is when he threw Pecha with a hopeful yell, a hope that this plan wouldn't horrendously backfire like the last!!!!

"Pecha use super sonic!"

Flopping like a soft piece of cheese being thrown on a cat, pecha clung to Lugia's ear, and let loose an ear piercing screech like no other!

The screech rattled Lugia's brain, used to the sounds of the ocean the new forced ear ringing pierced straight through at point blank range and burst it's ear drums, thoroughly disorienting it and causing great pain.

Pecha, with all the bravery in it's tiny fluffy form, flapped back and trembled upon Jack's back as he attempted to run to cover.

Lugia roared and twisted, fireing it's blasts in whichever direction until it aimed high, causing a large stone to plummet down upon it, clouting it in the head...

Knocking the legendary pokemon clean out of commission.

At least for a time.

Witnessing this, Jack crawled out from behind his stallagtite shield and walked over to the dazed and bruised Lugia.

"Bugger me, you okay there buddy?" He stood nearby the lugia's head, unknowing of the people coming to witness him.

Bustling with the sounds of moving water and Zubats flapping their wings echoed against the complex tunnel system, the cave was shrouded by silence. Not the kind you can almost touch in the air of an awkward situation, but accompanying them was a silence of omen, a herald of disaster, of bad things that were bound to happen.

Daria’s sense of paranoia heightened, she spotted dangers at every step, every corner and every moving shadow. If anything, Daria was not as startled by the sound of doom came from the deep as she should have. She felt like a side character in a horror movie, with how many red flags shoved into her face, she could only exclaim a silent ‘I knew it’ and accept her fate.

The primal cry had an ancient feel to it, as ancient and vast as the seas, one that commands fear and joy in its wake. Before the source of that sound, men had only the choices to flee or bow down, the Pokemon, however, knew not to test their luck, fled en masse in the opposite direction. Walrein, Zubat, Pilpulp ran, flew, and jumped for their life, causing a chaotic uproar around the three trainers.

As Saleos the Sandshrew wisely followed the steps of his fellow pokemon away from here, anywhere but here, a Zubat descended from above and hit him in the back. The Zubat was understandably angry, some stupid slow thing dared obstruct its path. With all its wrath and limited power of a cave fodder, the Zubat launched a supersonic strike at an already confused Saleos. The attack didn’t do much in damage but caused him to be further confused, then flew off.

The dazed Sandshrew staggered in its course, stumbled to the ground and a Marill’s path. For a while, the poor Marill tried to push the boulder named Saleos out of the way, then wisdom alighted and the Marill started to climb over the obstacle. It was then that a boy and a sword full of excitement ran past them. A familiar person, the Sandshrew recognized, was fleeing. His sprint motivated the Sandshrew to do what he was always good at: running away.

Almost immediately, Daria realized what was going on. Though it was impossible to tell the reasoning behind Micah’s decision to chase after a legendarily dangerous Pokemon, she knew Saleos was smart and cowardice enough to make the opposite decision, but not calm enough to notice the friendly human was not sharing his priorities at the moment.

Panic, she threw the Pokeball in his direction.

Registered the sudden movement from behind as a hostile assault, Saleos promptly whipped the ball away with his tail. With the Marill still riding on his back, the Sandshrew chased after Micah.

The girl dove ahead to retrieve the ball before a stray pokemon could kick it further away. Bewildered on the ground, she cursed as Micah, his pokemon and Saleos disappeared into the darkness.

“Hey.” Shouted Daria to get Lena’s attention before going after them.

Awaited Daria was what was once an ancient ruin, with a beautifully carved altar that should have been preserved for later generations to marvel at. The ruin had apparently been ruined further with fresh onslaughts of nature, the guardian of the seas – Lugia.

Its gloriousness was somewhat lessened lying unconscious underr a pile of rubble.

But what was even more astonishing was the man who stood near the Legendary Pokemon like it was no big deal. His only Pokemon, a Zubat, flying cheerfully above the defeated Lugia. As soon as her eyes caught the sight of the man, Daria knew he was bad news.

He had an aura of boredom and obliviousness to him. Harmless at first sight, but Daria knew better, she had seen the likes of him before. Just like her brother. They always look like a clown in the room, always lost in their infinite boredom, but the moment they get serious, they can effortlessly wipe the floor with the strongest opponent. Either through cunning tactics or raw strength, they are the underestimated, the bane of overconfident foes.

Daria’s impression of the guy was only further reinforced by the lying defeated Legendary Lugia at his feet and mercy. And he beat it with a freaking Zubat.

Almost by instinct, Daria sprang ahead and hugged both Saleos and the Marill on his back tightly. Her voice trembled, called out to Micah. “W-we should go... leave it… That man is too dangerous!”

At Ianthe's comment about the assistant, Akira hummed, watching as Luc darted over towards the girl as she pulled some treats out of her bag. In dry amusement, she rolled her eyes, knowing that he'd never turn down free food. At Laren's words she snorted. "You can say that again." she grunted with a short bark of laughter.

Luc, who was happy to take a few treats for himself purred happily in response, rubbing his head against Ianthe's leg for a brief moment before chirping happily at her partner Nymph. He didn't stay too close to either one for long, not wanting to take a chance on shocking either trainer or pokemon due to the static on his fur. He happily slurped up one more before Akira whistled and he trotted back over to her, further into the ruins. "Shinx!"

"Yeah, yeah, I know big guy. She's very nice, I'm sure she'll give you more later if you play nice." she grumbled to him quietly. She turned back to the two girls and nodded in agreement to their discussion about having a snack of their own. "Fine by me." With that said, she turned on her heel and started further down the path, Luc darting forward until he was a few steps ahead of her.

At the sudden pokemon cry a few minutes in of them walking, Akira twitched and Luc jumped, hissing slightly, his fur standing on end even further. She let out a frustrated sigh, running a hand through her hair, hating to be this jumpy. When they arrived at the engraving she paused, brow furrowing as she ran her fingers against the words gently.

"Wonder how this ended..." she thought aloud, glancing around as she heard more splashing. She frowned, turning so she could try and peer into the darkness beyond the small bubble of light Luc provided. "Do you guys hear that too?" she asked.

Ianthe cooed at the Bulbasaur and the Shinx as they came to collect their treats. She absolutely adored seeing happy Pokémon, and she loved being the one to bring a smile to their faces. Humans, too, but it was different with Pokémon. Ianthe felt like they owed them everything. In her travels, she learned of Pokémon that were believed to control the weather, to change the world, to guard it. How couldn't she show appreciation for such powerful beings? It was what got her into wanting to become a breeder, after all. What fueled her to find that next big recipe--

Ianthe was jolted out of her thoughts when the Shinx rubbed up against her, and she went back to cooing. Nymph landed on Ianthe's head when Luc chirped at her, and she made a soft noise in response. At least she hadn't shied away, Ianthe thought as she closed up the Poffin case and slid it back into her bag. It was good to see Nymph being friendly.

She followed after Akira and Luc, and she was drawn to the beauty in the ruins. It wasn't much until they made their way further into the cave. Ianthe's gaze connected with the pillar as the light from Luc's Flash bounced off of it. "Wow." She was obviously taken in with the sight. "How gorgeous."

Ianthe was mildly shook when it seemed that the drawings along the pillar giggled in response to her claim. Was this an illusion from a Pokémon?

She hoped so, she didn't want to be seen as crazy--

Ianthe held onto Nymph as the Pokémon's cry rang through the cave. The Bounsweet's immediate reaction afterwards was an attempt to float off, and thankfully, Ianthe weighed more than enough to make sure she didn't lose her Pokémon in the darkness. Once Nymph calmed down enough that Ianthe was certain she wouldn't run away, she let the Pokémon go.

"Holy Razz Berry, what was that?" She mused, following after Akira even with the shock. She could feel Nymph trembling on her head, and she felt a bit bad. Poor thing must have been frightened to bits. Before she knew it, though, she could hear a strange bobbing noise as they arrived at the engraving. She ignored it for just a moment as she read the engraving.

...Catch what?

Akira sounded off her thoughts and she waited from a response from Laren as they continued to all hear that same bobbing noise, as if it was getting louder?

"Oh, er, yeah, I hear it." She confirmed, her voice a little rattled. The cry they had heard earlier was so shocking, she hadn't paid attention to what it could have been. She uttered out a few more words to her "Nymphie, do your best to stay with me, okay?"

Laren made a little noise of interest as they began their descent, pausing briefly seconds after Ianthe's observation of the ancient drawings on the pillar to stare at the same. "Did that pillar - giggle?" she asked the group at large, shaking her head after a moment as if to clear it. Sticking toward the back, she juggled pulling her notebook and pen from her pack with trying not to lag behind the others.

A three-second stop to draw a rough approximation of one of the figures from the pillar elicited a cautious sound from Bailey, and the pair hurried onward to be more immediately within range of Luc's light.

The Pokemon cry gave the two pause, Laren casting a wary look toward the direction of the sound, then back to the others with a raised eyebrow. Next to her, Bailey stiffened, gaze similarly darting to and fro before she darted forward toward the engraved stone, leaning up toward it curiously.

"We have company, " the trainer murmured unnecessarily as she followed her Pokemon, worrying her lower lip between her teeth as she mouthed the words visible on the rock face. Quietly, to Ianthe: "I wonder what they found, or what found them. Who were -"

The splash from below interrupted her; with a sharp intake of breath, Laren took a step back, posture tensing. "The more important query might be if this is friend or foe, " she replied evenly to Akira, voice low.

Maya Kauffman

Maya's head canted slightly to one side at as Mansel began explaining what they should expect to face. Dragon and Steel type pokemon... well known for their defense and raw power. Dangerous. She reached up fidgeted with one of her earrings. Kurama's flames would be useful against any Steel types they encountered, but next to worthless against any dragons they encountered. Perhaps her teammates would have an Ice type pokemon or even a fellow dragon?

Grey eyes stole a short glance at the pair beside her. She wasn't going to hold her breath, but it was a nice thought nonetheless.

As for Jirachi itself, the most Mansel seemed to know about it pertained to the myths that surrounded it. Not uncommon, any pokemon of such power was bound to have some kind of myth or legend following it. A low, thoughtful hum, Jirachi was both Steel and Psychic type? It was worthwhile to note even if the three of them combined didn't stand a Vanillite's chance in hell.

Briefing finished, Maya opted to quietly pick up her payment before stepping outside and wait for her teammates. Kurama cautiously crept towards the trashed police car, hesitantly sniffing the wreckage. Maya couldn't deny Mansel and Dragalge's power. To be able to go toe to toe with him, that would be proof she had become an accomplished trainer. Proof hat Byakko hadn't wasted that year on her.

One day...

Nimbostown was the first town they passed through. Nestled deep in the forest, a large swath of trees had been cut down to accommodate the numerous fields of berries. "I don't think so." Sensing what the kit was going to do, Maya scooped up Kurama before he could slip away to pilfer the growing crops. "You're just going to make yourself sick."

The Vulpix huffed, exhaling a small plume of flame.

She shook her head, "I need to resupply, suggest you do too." Maya broke off from the group without waiting for a response, eventually setting Kurama back down.

Most of the shops had been built along the main road, allowing for the farms to branch out as needed. Travelers milled about beneath colorful banners, looking through the various shop's wares. Two shops, in particular, drew in a larger crowd than the rest - barring the requisite pokemon center - Erica's Berry Emporium and Dawn’s Bakery. All manner of smells wafted out of the bakery’s open door, luring both trainer and Pokémon for a closer look.

Catching a glimpse of her reflection in the window brought Maya to a stop, fingers lightly toying with her hair. What was once vibrant ruby strands had faded to the point it resembled blonde tinted pink. The natural black had already begun to show through at the roots. Maybe I should get another box of dye… She hesitated, mentally running through the funds in her wallet. Assuming prices for supplies weren't ridiculous, that bonus should go a long way. But should she really be spending it on something other than what her Pokemon needed? Not to mention that egg should be hatching soon, having some extra funds to care for the mystery Pokemon would likely come in handy.

What even were the odds of someone recognizing her clear out here? Vera Vale was a long way from Kanto, would anyone actually think to search this far out? Are they even looking? Shaking the thought from her head, Maya stepped inside.

”Welcome!” The shop owner called from the back in a singsong tone, ”I’ll be out in just a moment.”

Glass cases dominated the small shop, filled to the brim with pastries for humans and Pokemon alike. A majority of the displays were dominated by small cookies in nearly every color of the rainbow. ”Fresh poffins” advertised a sign in bright colors. ”Poffins?” Maya jumped as something let out a loud huff nearby. Spinning towards the source of the sound, she saw an old Stoutland lounging on a fluffy cushion. He blinked lazily up at her a few times before laying his head back down with a sigh.

Rummaging through her jacket pocket, Maya pulled out an old and worn Pokedex. It had been her cousin’s when he first became a trainer, passing it along to her when he upgraded to a newer model. One of the other Blackleaf members had worked some magic and managed to get it reconnected to the international database, making it a viable Pokedex once more. Sure, it didn’t have any of the fancy features many Pokedexes did now, but it identified pokemon which was all she could ask for. Holding up to the snoozing pokemon, she pressed a button and waited.

“Stoutland, the big-hearted pokemon,” a computerized voice droned from the speaker. “Average height: 1.2 meters at the shoulders, average weight: 61 kilograms. Intelligent, good-natured, and valiant, it's a trustworthy partner on rescue teams. Being wrapped in its long fur is so comfortable that a person would be fine even overnight on a wintry mountain.”

”Curious about old Rex there?” The owner, Dawn, had reappeared, balancing a tray in one hand. ”He’s just a big old sweetheart. Sorry for the wait, was finishing a batch of poffins.”

”No, no, it’s fine.” Maya clumsily put her Pokedex away, studying the tray of poffins. ”So, uh… what are poffins?”

An exaggerated gasp, Dawn covered her mouth with her hand. ”What are poffins? Only one of the best treats to give your pokemon!” The baker beamed as she spoke, ”They keep longer than berries they’re made from would otherwise, making them great for trainers. They also promote a shiny coat for your Vulpix there, Rex is a testimant to that.” The greying Stoutland let out another huff. ”So what kind of berries does your Vulpix like?”

Maya blinked. She probably should have expected to get swept away in a sales pitch. ”Uh… leppa and pecha berries tend to be his favorite.”

The baker rifled through her display case for a moment before withdrawing a red poffin, speckled in pink. ”Then give this sweet and spicy poffin a try, I bet he’ll love it.” Dawn held it out, noticing Maya’s hesitation, ”It’s a free sample.”

Accepting the treat, Maya knelt and held the poffin out to Kurama. The Vulpix gave it a few inquisitive sniffs before snapping it up. Poffin vanquished he stood on his hind legs, carefully balancing to look in the case.

Dawn gave a light laugh, ”I think we have a winner.” Her eyes flashed at the sight of the gold leaf pinned to Maya’s jacket. ”How about a dozen for the road? I’ll give you the family discount, 250 pokedollars.”

”I don’t know…” Maya glanced at her pokemon as he gave a pitiful whine, pawing at the glass. She caught sight of the price list posted on the case, 1 dozen poffins: 1000 Pokedollars. A sigh, ”Yeah, okay, that’s a pretty good deal…”

Dawn disappeared through a doorway, returning with a pair of boxes. The first was tied with a black ribbon, the second she quickly filled with the sweet and spicy poffins. She tapped the tied box, ”Could you make sure this makes it to Mansel for me? I think I finally perfected the recipe.”

Maya raised an eyebrow, ”Family discount, huh?”

Dawn shrugged, ”I got a business to run, can’t go around advertising I’m Blackleaf, y’know?” She nodded at the pin, ”Might wanna take that off if you’re planning on going next door though, Erica’ll charge you double if she saw it.”

“I feel like most wouldn’t let that slide.”

Another shrug, “Yeah, but a Garchomp makes for good theft deterrent.” Helping Maya get the two poffin cases in her backpack, Dawn wished the trainer luck and told her to drop by again.

Pulling off her Blackleaf pin and stuffing it in her pocket, Maya stepped inside the next shop. Row after row of shelves greeted her, all stocked with more types of berries than she knew existed. On the back wall, behind the counter was a glass case housing the more valuable berries. Enigma Berry, 10,000 Pokedollars ea. ”Holy shit…” the trainer muttered under her breath. She caught movement out of the corner of her eye, spinning she found herself face to face with a Garchomp. A deep growl rumbled in the dragon’s throat as it stared her down.

”Garchomp, leave our customers alone.” A woman called from the other side of the shop, the pokemon pushing past Maya to return to his spot. Erica offered a slight smile, ”Don’t mind him, he’s just been a little on edge lately. So, what can I interest you in?”

A handful of cheap razz berries and leppa berries later, the pair moved on to the pokecenter to finish their shopping.

Arriving at Fogma Falls, Maya let out a low whistle. The sun shimmered against the black and red cliffs, the high iron content in the water coloring it orange. This place really was a haven for steel type pokemon. She was so distracted by the sight, she almost missed Kenneth releasing his pokemon. A rare, soft smile crossed Maya’s lips as she knelt, ”Well hello,” she spoke softly, unusually gentle for someone normally so harsh towards Kenneth.

With the pokemon dismissed, she stood once more and turned to look at the challenge ahead of them. ”There’s bound to be a trail of some kind around here.” Steel type pokemon weren’t exactly known for their agility.

She watched as Furfrou made its entrance, and promptly stole Arthur’s notebook. The pokemon had a beautiful coat, likely one that needed as much brushing as Kurama’s. Though she couldn’t remember seeing it out before that. As Arthur started on his spiel about each member’s pokemon, Maya found herself and Kurama searching the nearby area for a trail.

”I’m not sure where you’re getting all this stat nonsense from,” She called, peering through some bushes. ”Doubt it’ll hold much water when the real fighting starts.” Rolling her eyes, she finally turned back to face the pair. ”You’re more than welcome to try and climb the sheer cliff face, enjoy the fall.”

Maya didn’t wait for a response as she went back to her search, pausing when her backpack shifted slightly. It was getting more frequent, how much longer was that egg going to make her wait? ”You know,” she knelt by a cluster of footprints, trying to discern the direction they were headed. ”Even if it’s weaker than some of the other legendaries, I get the feeling trying to fight it will just be a death sentence.”

She stood and slowly walked, following the tracks. ”As for the wish thing, wonder if it’ll be like the story of the Aipom’s Paw.” Assuming it even granted them. Could a Jirachi be the reason for so many legendary pokemon appearing throughout Vera Valle? Last she heard, the source of their appearances was still unexplained. Maybe it was the work of some mythical pokemon.

Pushing through a patch of underbrush, Maya turned back. ”This might be a trail.” She was stopped by Arthur announcing his intention to catch Jirachi and subsequent attempt to scale the sheer cliff. ”....he must have a deathwish.”

Kenneth Vano
VAno.png

Kenneth couldn't help but frowned as Baron ran off to climb up the cliff. He seriously thought that he could catch the Wish Pokemon all by himself? Kenneth's opinion of Baron just got lower and lower. Sure he was just a kid, but even kids have their limits onto what shenanigans that could think of. His opinion plummeted when he saw the contents of Baron's notebook that had information about Vulpix. Did he think life was a game? Statistics could be reliable sometimes, but even then it just depended on the Pokemon itself. Hell, he even saw a Beautifly absolutely destroy one of those flying salamanders from Kanto. It was an unique sight, and showed that work always payed off. Hell, Kenneth felt a little offended despite Vulpix not being his Pokemon. Oh well, he just needed to cool down. Taking things seriously just caused more stress.

Also he doubted that the kid could catch the Wish Pokemon. He wouldn't stand even the closest of chances, especially with one Pokemon. Though, if he did somehow managed to do it, sabotage seemed like to be a good option.

Negative thoughts aside he turned to Maya. He had noticed her small smile towards Whismur. This only reinforced the fact that she loved Pokemon more than people. At least it gave him an idea on how to bond with her, or at least the very least clear up their bad relationship. Though changing Maya and the kid's relationship would probably be most difficult of them all. Even though he started to not like the kid, he would at least try to make their team be more stable.

"You're most likely right about that. They aren't called Mythical and Legendary Pokemon for nothing." Kenneth cheerfully agreed to what Maya had said.

Looking over to where Maya was looking at, it seemed she found a trail. Maya was good at this, maybe she had traveled a little for? He knew that he wouldn't be able to spot the tracks that quickly. Kenneth's eyes landed on Maya's bag. Her bag was shaking... Strange. He didn't notice at first, but after a while those small movements ended being noticeable after a while. He wondered what was in the bag, though it would be best if he didn't pry. Maya would probably turn all Froslass onto him.

Maya mentioned something about a death wish so he turned- Wow, the kid really did seem like the death wish. What kind of rocks did his parents feed him? "Huh, even I'm not that crazy to climb up a cliff that high."

"Hey, Baron!" Kenneth shouted, hoping to get the kid's attention. "We found a trail! You should probably get down here." It was a suggestion if anything. Going along the trail was easier, and a little bit safer, than climb up the entire cliff. Turning around, he started to walk up the trail. It was a lead, and it was good enough for him. After a few steps, he turned to look at Maya. "Oh yea, hey Maya. What's that about Aipom's Paw? I heard you mention it a little while ago." He said.

It was probably one of those Kanto fairy tales, seeing that Maya probably originated from Kanto due to her having a Vulpix allowed him guess the origin of the story. He was slightly curious about what other region's cultures were like.. He had only known Hoenn's culture and that was about it.

While he was also curious about Kanto's culture, he also wanted Maya to open up a little. Small talk was often how people get to know each other, so could that would here?

Standing before the Lugia you couldn't help but feel bad about it.. Well.. the thing DID come to fight, guess it got what it wanted in the end... He... could toss a pokeball at it right now but... He wouldn't feel right, plus he never cared for useing pokeballs as is, they were just... kinda mean you know?

He'd much preffer to befriend it.. Maybe feed it.. Scratch it underneath the chin...

...

He knelt down before the pokemon and stroked it's bruised head. His eyes slightly glazed and bored looking as Pecha flopped up on top of his shoulder and clicked softly to look around, ears wiggling towards the intruders.

"Strange... it feels... like a fish... But still like a lizard... scaled in different ways..." he spoke out loud his thoughts, spotting a stray scale on the ground he picked it up and held it towards a nearby light. He then withdrew a potion, sprayed the pokemon on the noggin.

"...A trophy I guess." he sighed, putting the scale and used potion away, then looked towards the trio. While he did not react openly, inside his mind turned into a wreck. Oh shit they found me, oh god I'm so gonna get my ass handed to me and then I'm gonna end up in jail again oh god.

Wait...

The girl...

Was afraid of him....? What? Seriously? Did they not see what just happened?

....

Wait.. If they didn't...

"Oi, you rats. What do you think your doing getting in my way? Clear off." he started barking at the group as he stepped forwards, looking about as surly as normal but trying to put abit more bite to his usual tone. "Here I came to take on Lugia, found it was nothing but a weakling, not even worth catching if you ask me. So move it, take the wing I don't give a damn anymore."

"Caleb, you always manage to find the best spots."

Reina let out a soft sigh as she leaned her head against her boyfriend's shoulder. It was nice, being able to relax by such a peaceful place. Kind of magical, even. This was their first visit to a new region, with new Pokémon to boot. Caleb's ability to find the perfect spot for him to nap was, once again, proven to be successful even in a region he'd never known before. She couldn't blame him for such a calming spot, either.

She closed her eyes as she took in a deep breath, zoning out for a moment as she listened to the waterfall in the background. Nothing could ruin this mood. The walk along the trail had been really relaxing in itself, although she knew Caleb was much happier here, resting up at the top of the waterfall on their picnic blanket, than he was with having to walk all the way over here. But it had balanced out; now it was okay for them to spend a few hours out here since the walk had been long.

Okay, maybe they'd been out here since the morning. She couldn't resist the water on her skin once they'd arrived, and now, after a lunch she'd prepared, they were both enjoying each other's company, Caleb half-asleep as always as she nestled into his embrace.

Her Feebas was having a wonderful time. When she'd found the Pokémon, it had been frightened out of it's skin by other trainers trying to Dive their way to it. Reina and Caleb had been relaxing once again, with a fishing line out, and her Feebas had finally decided to eat. Next thing she knew, she had a Pokémon by her side, even with Caleb laughing his butt off that it was so ugly. Reina found the Feebas endearing, and gave it the name Ælling.

Ælling had never seemed so relaxed before, barely moving, as always, but his eyes were closed. Reina looked over and noticed Caleb's Growlithe was, much like his owner, snoozing. It made her smile, seeing their Pokémon unwinding. She had a feeling they would have their fair share of Pokémon battles soon enough.

Nothing could ruin this moment, as far as she was concerned.

As the three tensed on the bridge about the threat bobbing in the water, a sound like a pump came from below. It continued to build louder and lounder, and then snapped. A boom was heard, then a firehose went off. In a blur of motion, a brown jet flew into the group, smashing straight at the center of the three, straight at the light source, tackling Akira and Luc at high speeds. To the two it would feel like being hit by a linebacker, and send them over the side of the bridge several meters into the water below. Without their flash technique, the cave darkened to dim, outline being all that was visible. The pokemon that had attacks splayed out its body and cried loudly again, posing in front of the two. It's outline was barely visible, covered in a thin spiky body and a large disk like head. Splaying out its two arms, a glint gleamed off of them like scythes.

Laren likely would be able to recognize the pokemon's outline though from her numerous years working in the Pewter City Museum... though mostly as a decoration, never actually alive and in the wild: Kabutops.

Crying again at the two, it turned to Ianthe, and began to crouch, splashing heard at its feet as water began to jump like sparks as it began to pressurize. Its focus seemed to single in on Ianthe in particular, not even looking towards Bulbasaur, Bounsweet, or Laren. The charging would take a moment before it could jet at the two.

=========================

In the water below for Akira, besides being cold, she probably could hear scuttling... away from her. Herds of shells swam away from her, or more particular, away from Luc. The light seemed to scatter them like cockroaches. It also made the quickest path to shore evident in the distance, though the quickest rock seemed a little bit far from the stone bridge above.

In Caleb's mind the day had been pure and utter perfection. He had Reina with him and their pokemon were leaving them alone for the most part, dozing nearby. He had found the spot up the trail and knew his girlfriend would appreciate the water and would love to spend the day lounging around doing nothing, giving him the perfect opportunity to due the two things he loved most in the world. Spend time with Reina and sleep the day away.

And Viola, his growlithe aptly named after his adopted sister, couldn't do anything about it.

The thought alone made a smirk settle on his features, and almost as if she could sense it, Viola flicked her tail, whacking him in the side of the face. He grunted in response, shoving the fur away. The small pokemon huffed in response.

"You know I'll always try for you," he murmured.

The small group were leaning back against a tree, not too far from the path of the trail, when the silence they were enjoying was disturbed by two joggers, loudly discussing the latest gossip. He frowned, eyes opening into slits as he listened to their conversation, their voices carrying as they moved past them.

"Haven't you heard about the Blackleaf rumors?"

"Oh my gosh, yes! It's kinda worrying isn't it? They say members are in every town! I hope I don't ever bump into them! I mean, bullying trainers who even think about trying to pursue a legendary pokemon."

"I know! My sister told me last week that they were bothering young trainers near her home just because they'd been talking about their favorite legendary!"

"That's so frightening..."

Caleb's brow furrowed as the conversation started to fade away and he reluctantly forced himself into a sitting position, pulling Reina with him. "I think it would be for the best if we got going."

Micah followed the walls of the cave as they twisted and turned, water splashing under his shoes with every step he took as the distant cries of the fleeing pokemon grew fainter. He could hear Daria's footsteps and Lena's behind those, as the three moved through the cave toward what Micah knew was the legend he'd been searching for his entire life. As he moved, the distinct gems on the wall moved with him, which Micah saw out of the corner of his eye until he couldn't take it anymore. He stopped for a moment and banged on the rocks with his hands gently, trying to see if they'd react at all or do anything other than follow. Much to the boy's dismay, the gems remained in position, glowing eerily as if to mock the young trainer's efforts to get a reaction out of them. Part of Micah thought that the gems would stop following him, but he knew that this part of him was sorely mistaken. Surely enough, as soon as Micah turned away and continued bolting down the cave, the gems followed, but to what end, Micah could only guess. Even Redgie had taken notice, but aside from taking a couple of swings at the gems with his blade, the Honedge focused intently on reaching the source of the sound that had echoed through the cave.

That was when they came upon what looked like a clearing with a waterfall in the center. Micah couldn't help but take a moment to look around him, slowly taking in the change of scenery, even with the odd little gemstones that had stopped right behind Micah. That was when he saw it, a massive white and blue creature laying on the ground beneath the waterfall. It was absolutely beautiful, much larger than what his parents had described, and so much more menacing too. Lugia was truly as grand and impressive as Micah had always dreamed. There it is! My destiny, everything I've ever wanted is right before me! I must go and seize Lugia so we can soar and see new pokemon and... It was then that Micah realized that Lugia was unconscious. Such was the boy's excitement and awe that he never took the time to mentally process the state the legendary pokemon found itself in. What? How can Lugia be unconscious? Who, or what would be capable of doing this to such a powerful pokemon? Before the boy's mind could ponder the issue any further, Daria's voice rang out, the fear palpable in her voice, and she was shouting about some dangerous man.

His gaze then shifted to a man standing over the body of Lugia with his Zubat fluttering its wings nearby. The man seemed to puff up at Daria's comments, and he was quick to step up, shouting at the trainers in an intimidating tone. Micah's eyes went wide with surprise and disbelief for a while as he took a couple of steps back.
This man took out Lugia? Not even worth catching? Just who is this person? Maybe he is as dangerous as Daria says... It was then that something shifted in Micah. Dangerous? That's exactly what Redgie and I excel at! We do danger better than anyone! The boy, emboldened by the sudden rush of adrenaline and fear coursing through his body, jumped forward. "She says your dangerous, and I agree! Whoever can take out Lugia like this must be a threat to be feared!" The boy's words were filled wth excitement and the air of an upcoming challenge filled his voice as he turned to the Honedge. "Whatd'ya say, Redg? Wanna do something dangerous today?" The pokemon shrieked and jumped in the air several times as he reached his trainer's side, the gems on the wall slowly inching closer and closer to Micah. This is my destiny, and I can't let it go without a fight! He put his hand up and pointed a defiant finger at the man. "So how about it? Let's have a showdown right here, right now so I can see how strong the man who took out the mighty Lugia is for myself!"

The piplup ended up following her. Just like Stark did when he followed her from Verity Lake. It was nice. Lena let the piplup held her hand as it waddled by beside her. She would hug it, but it was wet. And she only brought one change of clothes.

Stark, on the other hand, kept silent as it flew a good distance away from the piplup and water. The hug traumatized him a bit. Or maybe it was the drowned part. Well, he was silent, so it was okay.

Lena continued to follow Micah until they reach an area with a huge waterfall. It was a bit noisy. Some water entered her eyes. She rubbed her eyes. The piplup squeezed her hand. Stark started being noisy again, chirping to get her attention. What was there? Lena opened her eyes.

Oh.

In front of the waterfall, in front of a strange man, was a pokemon she had seen in a picture at Professor Joshua's lab. Lugia. Was this what scared the pokemons? It didn't seem to be moving, though. Legendary pokemon was supposed to be scary, but Lugia didn't look too scary. Lena took off her bag. She rummaged through it, taking her hand from the piplup who proceeded to hug her leg.

"So... Micah, you fight the man, yeah? I'll take pictures. Of you. And that guy. And that Lugia."

Daria looked scared, but she didn't see why. How was the man dangerous again? He only had a zubat. Stark could peck one to submission any day.

Sone of a bitch he did the trainer thing, he HATED the trainer thing. Seriously, just what kinda idiot thinks "oh he fought and won against a legendary I wana fight him to!" Cause their too busy dragging their slack jaws on the floor to think clearly!!!

Damn damn damn!

Okay... what to do...

....Cool guy persona activate!!!

Jack stared Micah down with cold and uncaring eyes, the hopefulness of the young man already battling the sheer discontent within the man.

"...Nah."

He responded with a uncaring huff, putting both hands behind his head and began walking to the exit of the area. "Kid I don't fight for the sake of fighting. Theres gotta be a reason, I fought Lugia cause it was a legendary, a beautiful creature with immense power. Even with it's wierd wings... Why do they look like hands anyways?

Whatever.

After that battle, I sent my main pokemon off to roam abit.

So I can't give yea a proper battle regardless. Your better off fighting somebody more your league anyways. Right Pecha?" He lied through his teeth. Pecha could practically feel it, but did a chitter and chirp nonetheless. The man scratched the zubat, before looking at the kids again.. Then back to Lugia.... If he simply left it, Mansel would kill him... One pokeball.. one pokeball and he'd say he tried. H

Who knows, maybe this is the start or a story and this would be a cool plot point? Maybe all this time of running around in hell on earth every year or so would culminate on this point.

if anything, it'd give him some time to run.

Plucking out one pokeball he enlarged it, after the sound of a phone taking a picture of it, then tossed it at the head of the pokemon. "Hmph, No point leaving you there..." he had his back turned to the group, but his attention was upon them still... he knew some dastardly types.. maybe this kid wouldn't take no for an answer... And if Lugia breaks out and is awake, he'd be happy to shift the target to these weird teens.
