The Wandering Storyteller
The town of Benton is a quaint place, it is small a bit rustic and everything about it reeks of the kind of town nobody would ever hear of unless they were born there. Nothing about it is extraordinary, there is no great draw that would bring in tourism, of course just like every other town that is small and unassuming it has a very odd thing happening near it. There are reports of terrifying monsters in the woods, dogs the size of horses that breath fire, or a giant sea serpent in the local lake with a very aggressive temperament. In truth these are not anomalous monsters that appeared out of nowhere, they are creatures from another world commonly referred to as pokemon. That begs the question, how did monsters from another world end up in a normal rural town? That would be the doing of Team Crusade, an evil team bent on the purification, and conquest of a world that is seemingly ripe for the taking. They have built some kind of machine that allows travel between this world and theirs, unfortunately this machine has caused fluctuations which have generated portals throughout both worlds, sometimes taking pokemon from the wilds of their world, to the general location of Benton, or sometimes taking the residents of Benton away from their home, and of course Pokemon are not the only ones taken from the Pokemon World. Trainers, people who have devoted their lives to catching and training pokemon for a variety of reasons are sometimes whisked to Benton, a few of them devote themselves to wrangling the wild pokemon around the town to avert disasters, others discover just how they got this other world and spend their time trying to stop Team Crusade, and of course others simply try to acclimate to their new surroundings, although all of them at least half heartedly search for a way back to their homeworld, some of course get lucky and find a portal, others are not so fortunate and are stuck looking for a more complicated way to get home. All in all the town of Benton may not be so quaint after all, what with the pocket monsters, and secret organizations running about.
That is a summary of the roleplay idea I have of essentially pokemon getting taken to the 'real world' which I just thought might be fun to set up. I realize the summary is pretty short but I'm excited to see if anyone else would be interested to join it. I do have a loose sort of storyline in mind for the RP but most of it would be a character driven sandbox RP. This wouldn't be a RP with a definite post length but I would like replys to be enough to give other characters something to work with. There are five major roles that I've thought of for the RP, of course if you'd like to play something else within reason please PM and it'll probably be fine.
Benton Resident: If your character fits this role they are a denizen of the Benton world, they don't have to be born in Benton, or even live there all the time, but so long as they are a normal person from the normal world then this role fits them.
Crusade Agent: If your character fits this role they are a member of Team Crusade, that means they came from the pokemon world on purpose to enact Team Crusade's plan, they could be a grunt, a higher ranked officer, or maybe even the Team Leader whom I will play if no one else wants to but it is open nonetheless. If your character is Team Crusade they can have pokemon, which don't need their own character sheet but you can make sheets for their pokemon if you'd like.
Trainer: If your character fits this role they are from the pokemon world and they catch and train pokemon, for any purpose, gym battles, contests, etc. If your character is a trainer than they can have pokemon that do not require a character sheet but as with Team Crusade you can give their pokemon character sheets if you'd like.
Trainer Pokemon: If your character fits this role than they are a pokemon who is owned by a human be they a trainer, Crusade agent, or otherwise. These characters don't necessarily need to have their trainer present in RP but they can, and if you coordinate with someone else you don't need to play both trainer and pokemon but make sure you have someone's permission before you go doing that. It should be noted that pokemon cannot speak with humans but can easily communicate with other pokemon.
Wild Pokemon: If your character fits this role they are an unowned pokemon that ended up around Benton by accidentally entering a portal, the only criteria for this category is that they are a pokemon who is NOT owned by a human. They can come from any situation so long as they don't go into a pokeball, a wild pokemon character cannot be caught by a Trainer or Crusader character unless both players agree with it. I will reiterate that pokemon cannot speak to humans but can easily understand one another.
That's all for now, I'll make a Character Sheet, and an OOC thread if this gets any interest, and I'll keep trying to think of a cool snappy title for the roleplay.
