At the rollercoaster ride, Reggie was thankfully able to ride with his Mankey. Of course, he sheepishly chuckled at the worker who didn't seem too okay about the Mankey boarding the Gyarados roller coaster, but seeing how well behaved the Mankey was, Reggie was thankfully able to board without a fuss. He watched as even Adrianne was able to bring out her Azurill and he got into his seat, setting his Mankey beside him.
Of course, Baba the Grafaiai wanted on as well, and the Mankey pointed at Briar. If Baba wanted to get on, the green-haired dreadlocked woman had to go on, too. Reggie's Shiny Haunter was hidden within the shadows protecting their backpacks, so it wasn't like they were going to lose anything.
Once Adrianne with her Azurill, Briar with Baba (if she so chose to), and Elsie with her pink Sentret got on, the ride began with a cruise up into an incline, and then a harsh dip that got most of the riders screaming from the thrill. Even the Mankey raised his hands in the air as they went down, screaming from happiness and how it got his heart a-pumping.
The ride would only last a few minutes, but it was enough to satiate some of the thrillseekers. Some.
Once Reggie got off with a chuckle as the Mankey hopped on his shoulder, the monkey pointed at the roller coaster ride. "Again?" Reggie laughed. "Let's give my stomach a rest and we can ride it again."
Slightly disappointed, the Mankey looked over to make sure their group was okay and coming back to Reggie, only to notice something off in the distance. Right as the Haunter reappeared and handed Reggie heavy-duty camping backpack, the Mankey ran off towards the sideline of the amusement park. Reggie sighed as he looked back at his friends.
"Sorry, but I gotta chase Gordon again and make sure he doesn't get into trouble." He chuckled sheepishly, wondering if Adrianne, Briar, or Elsie were going to follow.
In a clearing nearby, away from the yells and shouts of merry voices having a good time. One boy stood watching with a smile as a small green glob slithered across the ground. Collecting disgarded trash such as wrappers and bottles into its form. Enveloping them completely with a big stretch of its flabby mouth and gulping them down. The boy was dressed in a simple white collared shirt, with blue floral pattens across it. On the lower end, some bright blue shorts and a pair of running shoes. He watched as the blob slithered in front of him. Raising a short studdy arm in a salute and saying loudly "GULPIN!"
"Splendid work! The finest custodian has done it again." Floric clapped his hands lightly as he smiled down at the Gulpin. "Thank you for cleaning the area Cider, did you enjoy the meal?" The Gulpin responded with a belch and smacked its lips. It rolled over to Floric and yawned, sleepy from its hard work. Floric chuckled and took out a pokeball "Want to get some sleep, or would you like to watch the practice?" The Gulpin pursed its lips before saying "Gulpin!" It rolled over beside Floric.
"Co-captain today it seems." Floric says with a approving tone. "Keep track of the time." Floric took out a pair of pokeballs from a knapsack on his back and called forth two other pokemon.
A Pachyrisu and a Masquerain burst forth onto the field. Excitedly moving about and looking before seeing Florin and quickly lining up in front of him. The Pachirisu kept bouncing on its feet in anticipation, while the Masquerain was eerily still. Floric looked at the both of them and smiled "Hope you two had your rest, but it is time for practice. And we are not slackers here are we?! We are professionals!" All the pokemon bobbed their heads..well Gulpin bobbed his entire body. The showoff.
Floric clapped his hands together "Accuracy, Agility, Adaptibility are the words of the day! Cheeky, lets start small! Dodge any attacks that come your way, Remember to continue facing me. A Performer should show as little as their back as possible!" He looks at the two and then points forward "Begin! Grounded 2 minutes!"
The Masquerain immediately bounced off the ground, dodging as stars starting to fly at it from the Pachirisu. Yet it did not fly away. It bounced and hopped on the ground, only using its wings to push itself in small graceful jumps. contorting its body into different shapes and at different angles. Floric held a timer in hand as he watched with a grin at the impromptu dance.

"WOAH THIS IS AWESOME!"
When the ride begun, Adrianne immediately felt the thrill as they ascended up and went through the coaster, every rise up down, and all around seemed to elicit pure joy from the young trainer as this experience was even better than she could've hoped for! "Woo faster faster!" Adrianne called out as needless to say she enjoyed the ride every second of the way. Which was a bit different from Aqua's experience as the poor Azurill seemed to scream out in terror as the poor girl seemed to have her eyes sealed shut as this kind of experience was something she seemed quite unused to. She just wanted this nightmare metal dragon ride to end!
However, during all this Aqua had felt a hand on her within her seat and peaked a look as Adrianne, even as she seemed to have the time of her life, she still offered support and a hand to Aqua to offer assurance which seemed to touch the creature. Perhaps it was this support that gave it the strength to push along as they managed to make it to the end of the ride in one piece. That much was a good thing and as they got off Adrianne carried Aqua who seemed to shiver a bit as she seemed to almost view her partner as a security blanket of sorts.
"Hey I am proud of you, going through all that can't have been easy, but I am glad you were willing to ride with me. Those kinds of experiences I know you'll look back on and treasure with time, and hey if you could conquer the scary roller coaster then there is nothing you can't do~" Adrianne said as she seemed to offer praise to Aqua and stroked her head as the companion Pokemon glanced up nervously and seemed touched at this display.
"A...azu..."
Though as she was about to ask what the plan was, Gordon seemed to speed off somewhere as Reggie seemed more tired than anything, and Adrianne could not help but have an amused grin. "Well we should probably make sure he doesn't hurt himself...or cause someone else some misfortune." Adrianne said as she returned Aqua to get some rest and seemed eager to go on the chase.
As Baba eagerly stood next to Gordon, she pointed at the ride, bouncing up and down in place with a non-blinking stare at Briar. She couldn't say no to that face, and even mankey knew she wanted on.
"Don't worry, you'll get a turn!" Briar lifted Baba up and got into her seat, making sure they were fastened good. When the ride began moving, Baba was the first to wildly swing her arms around aimlessly. She was remarkably quiet for the ride. It were as if she was so flabbergasted that she was at a loss for words or even noise. Briar let out a few chuckles as the ride went on. As they got off, Baba pointed at Gordon. Baba wanted to know where the monkey was going. Briar was happy that her Baba didn't do the same, but as well, she didn't want the mankey getting hurt. She looked at Adrianne.

Seeing Adrianne and Briar were willing to come along, Reggie sighed in relief and began chasing after the Mankey.
Gordon had found something familiar and found a Scyther. The Scyther looked at the Mankey, eyes leering, then chittered as he held up his bladed arm in greeting. Gordon screeched about and danced around the Scyther, then climbed atop the bug as he began snorting and talking the poor bug's ear off. Reggie stumbled upon the two having some sort of reunion, but their attentions soon diverted.
No, not towards Reggie, but towards something happening off in a clearing nearby. Reggie noticed their glances and went to see what was going on.
An adorable Gulpin had eaten up some of the trash, and rolled over to sit beside a trainer, a snazzy guy with white hair who Reggie immediately adored the vibe of.
It was then that he watched as a Pachirisu and Masquerain appeared. The trainer said some sort of pre-training pep talk about being professionals and the Accuracy, Agility, and Adaptability training they were going to embark on. Reggie watched in awed silence as the Pachirisu used Swift and the Masquerain danced about just above the ground, avoiding each star with grace. It was like an elegant dance and Reggie just about squealed behind a huge grin.
"That's so cooool...!" He whispered excitedly to himself, and that's when he noticed Gordon rush towards the Pokemon, chittering happily at the stars and using them as target practice as they continued past their intended target, bashing them into glittery powder with sky-colored limbs from Acrobatics or elongated claws from Fury Swipes.
Thankfully, the Mankey kept enough of a distance away as to not endanger the other Pokemon they were training at, but Reggie still had to get up, setting down his large backpack and running into the clearing. "Uh, haha, excuse me, sorry, just trying ta get my Mankey." He was about to get to the Mankey, only for the Fighting-type to use its tail after pulling off a breakdancing spinning move and fire the single star at him, Reggie squeaking in surprise and twirling out of the way.
He deadpanned as he started at the Mankey, sighing. "Oh, is that how it is?" The Mankey snorted and squealed as if he were laughing, and Reggie put his hands on his hips. "Well, if you wanna train that badly, you could've asked." He looked over at the nearby trainer, a challenging grin on his face. "Accuracy, Agility, and Adaptability, yeah? That sounds like contest work to me, especially with how elegant that Masquerain is moving. You've been training them really well."
He then did a bow, realizing this might look weird given he was wearing his traveling gear - a t-shirt with Giratina's silhouette wrapping around the shirt, an orange vest, hiking pants, and boots. But he didn't care. "Name's Reginald, but you may call me Reggie." Spontaneously, he straightened himself up and pointed at Floric challengingly. "How about we do a dance off, yeah? That'll get Gordon's blood pumping and help you with your training." As spontaneous as he was, he was exhibiting the energy he would normally have, the crushing loss earlier in the day being completely forgotten about.
As Briar followed where Gordon and Reggie went, they saw a scyther, then a rather adorable gulpin. Briar had to fight the urge not to hug the cute lil baby. Then presumably the trainer. As a former dance instructor, Briar was almost envious of the dance off, but decided she'd do something too. She looked around, and saw the hoppip ferris wheel, then looked at Adrianne. While Reggie and Floric were at it, Briar gave a chuckle.
"Sounds fun...! Almost makes me wish I brought my music player!" Briar said before spinning around. Baba shook her hips, even the lil poison monkey liked dancing.
"While that's going on, you interested in going on the ferris wheel, Adrianne?" Briar asked.
Floric idly bobbed his head as he watched his Masquerain swayed and moved close to the ground. Gulpin beside him, sang in a loud voice "Gulp, gulp, gulgulgulpin! Gul, gul, Gulpin! Gulp, gulp, gul gulgulpin". The Gulpin making some music and it seemed the Masquerain was trying to move along with the little song. Yet Floric started to slowly frown, as Masquerain's movements started to become predictable. Cheeky was dodging the stars with ease...she was getting too comfortable. He glanced at the timer, about to give a command.
Yet suddenly with a screeching shout a pokemon sprinted by their scene, and launched itself into a flurry of jabs, kicks, and slashes with its tail at the stars. Another trainer started to run after it! The bursts of powder creating a nice lightshow. Gulpin immediately stopping singing and pursed its lips, a pure look of confusion on its face. Cheeky the Masquerain took to the air and started to vibrate. Expanding its antennae and wings fully, a wicked grin in the sky as it faced the Mankey. The Pachirisu...well kept on using the attack swift, its eyes wide and its face fillled with joy as it was chirping happily as it had finally hit something! The sight of the stars exploding into glittery powder making them even more dedicated to throwing stars at the Masquerain and the Mankey!
Chaos was about to unfold, untill a word was spoken clearly "FREEZE!" And stars stopped flying. The Masquerain floated in the air still. Gulpin just..stayed still lips pursed. Even the Pachirisu froze with its arm raised in the air. Floric coughed and turned to look at the trainer before him with a eyebrow raised. He took a moment to look at the guy in front of him, and even look at the Mankey not far off.
"Didn't know we had a audience. Usually I don't like interruptions during training....Reggie. But you just made things interesting." He grins though and places one foot behind the other and gives a bow back. As he straightened he said "Floric Spinzar, and I saw your Mankey's moves. Love the energy!..I accept. What are your rules..oh also. Melt!" Floric's pokemon started to move and gather around Floric. Floric looked behind Reggie and grinned at anyone else following behind the old fella. He gave them a two finger salute and flashed a grin at them"Those two with you? They have style, hmm. If they want to..they can judge. Won't help you once they see my babies in action."

Adrianne was in a sort of weird spot here.
She had followed in the chase for Gordon as the Mankey seemed to be a Pokemon on a mission, only to then bump into what Adrianne presumed was some training routine another trainer was having with his own Pokemon. Was a colorful bit from what she had seen, and given that bit of flair perhaps that is what inspired Reggie to engage in a dance battle of all things as Adrianne seemed a bit perplexed though she almost had envy for how Reggie could suggest something like this almost on the spot and hey Gordon seemed into the idea. More interestingly the guy, Floric, seemed to suggest they'd have the right to be judges for this sort of thing though Adrianne had a sweat drop at this.
"Um, I like the energy Mr. Floric, but I am not the best judge for this sort of performance thing." Adrianne said though a sudden inspiration seemed to hit her. "But, I might have some guys who can help." Adrianne said, as she released her partners: Aqua the Azurill, Ace the Spearow and Aster the Staryu.
"These guys can watch and see which performance they like more. Can trust them to be impartial." Adrianne suggested as she crouched by her somewhat confused trio. "Uh, Reggie and this guy Floric are gonna have some dance battle here. Just need you guys to watch and convey who you liked more, I'll be back soon am gonna go check something out." Adrianne explained and this seemed reasonable as Aqua seemed nervous but would try her best, Aster while its face betrayed no expression appeared into it and Ace...well, had nothing better to do. "A-azu..." "Spar." "Star!"
"Alright~!" Adrianne said, leaving her bag by them and a nearby bench as she turned to Reggie. "Good luck Reggie, you and Gordon show him your moves~!" Adrianne called out as she turned to Briar who suggested that during this they could go nearby Hoppip-themed Ferris wheel which seemed to get her excited.
"Oh that does sound fun~!" Adrianne called out and quickly worked to get a spot in line for them as she aimed to get a good view of the place~!

While Reggie did feel bad that he screwed up Floric’s groove, he also wanted to help him for screwing it up. And it seemed like this Mankey knew a few things about dancing or something of the like. He did hear music nearby, and some dancing.
Of course, he was not blind to the leering gaze of a Scyther nearby in the trees, but he didn’t pay it any heed.
So, the guy’s name was Floric, and he was interested in the battle. Good. And hey! He even bowed!
Reggie smirked excitedly.
Hearing the awesome code names though had Reggie excited. Then he felt the sudden rush of nervousness when he realized… He didn’t have these codenames for movement. He just caught the Mankey today. It was clear the Mankey did eat a hearty meal rather recently, but it still looked like it was caught fresh from the wild - hair was a little unruly with a bit of dirt here and there, but otherwise he was a healthy and unusually cheery Mankey.
He hid the nervousness, wanting to show that he wasn’t going to back down. He knew he wasn’t going to win, that part was obvious. But this wasn’t about pride or a numbered rank. This was a cute little dance battle that he shouldn’t get upset about because he knew he was going to lose.
Right, with that pep talk out of the way to not be a douchebag sore loser, Reggie looked down at his Mankey and remembered he spun on his head. Freeform breakdancing!
Hearing that Briar and Adrianne were gonna do something else, despite Floric wanting them as judges, Reggie sighed disappointingly, then shook his head to rid himself of the negativity. No, no more negativity today. Make the end of the day a happy one! At least Adrianne left her Pokemon there, which was a good compromise, but he didn't know if the Pokemon had any... judging ability when it came to dance. At the end of the day, the flashier you were and the cooler it looked, the higher marks you'd get from an amateur crowd. Then again, it wasn't like had any chance of winning. “Yup, they’re with me, but they’re not obligated to stay. I’m not here to win, but to see your moves. It’s obvious you’ve trained them well, but I wanna see what cool stuff I can learn from you.”
Reggie then went back to the rules. Uh… there were rules? He played it off cool though, looking at Floric steadily and evenly. Despite his hidden nervousness, he had quite the guts, his voice didn’t even waver. “Well, if I’m here to learn, how about you set the rules, Mr. Floric?” Whew, that was close. He almost embarrassed himself.
Briar gave a half-hearted smile at Reggie and Floric, before turning away. In truth, she partially did want to judge their dance off, but in the heat of the moment felt reminded of her past that she had left behind. her dance studio that had been shut down due to her inability to pay the rising rent cost. Seeing them dance like that brought up memories she'd like to wish never happened. They brought her joy and ultimately lead to her eventual drinking problem, and the rest is history.
Now she was at the park, she had a new life going for herself and she was going to be a wealthy and successful trainer. She put on a brave smile. As she began walking away from the dance battle, she hadn't noticed it but Claudia, her clodsire had hopped from her pokéball. She sat there near Adrianne's pokémon. While Briar was ready to move, Claudia had different plans.
"Sire!" Her clodsire cheered as she watched.
"Hadn't been on one of these things since I was a little girl, heheh! Luckily the line is somewhat short" As the line moved, it would soon be their turn to get on. Briar sat down on the hoppip ride, looking at Adrianne. "Soooo... You got any plans yet? For how you're gonna take on the first gym challenge! Is the anticipation getting to you too? Eh heheh!"

Adrianne walked with Briar in line and thankfully as Briar noted it seemed to be short, good. Adrianne wanted to enjoy the ride but who knows, maybe if it wrapped early they'd get the chance to see who won the dance contest before it ended as Adrianne felt a slight guilt not watching Reggie in his moment. However, the focus was on the ride as they got their spots in line, and she couldn't help but smile a bit at Briar's comment.
"Same here to be honest. Been a long time since I was last on this island, should be a treat." Adrianne said with some enthusiasm which was further evident as she hoped onto her seat across Briar on the hoppip ride. As the ride began to shift into gear, Briar asked Adrianne about her plans for the first gym challenge and her anticipation or nerves about it which to be truthful she had not reflected on as much as one figured she should.
"W-well to be honest sort of been taking it one step at a time. Suppose my plan is to get some WCS experience and sharpen my battle skills, know the Orange Crew are no joke. I also need to get Aster to learn Surf if what Reggie said is anything to go by, so figuring that out as we grow is key. I am a bit excited, nervous of course but hey I get the chance to put my name out there and prove something. So I welcome the challenge!" Adrianne said with a bit of drive to her tone.
Course, there was more motivation to this challenge than just natural competitive spirit, but this didn't seem the time or place for that dialogue.
As Adrianne had left the scene and wished Reggie and even his foe luck, her trio of partners seemed to work to settle into their new rules. Ace the Spearow, Aster the Staryu and Aqua the Azurill may not have been what one would look at as "traditional" judges to say the least but they all had a task to do and for Adrianne's sake they'd share their thoughts with the dancing contenders.
With a nearby bench next to Claudia, the trio of Pokemon moved upon it to get a view of Reggie, Floric and their chosen mon. "A-azu!" (G-good luck!) "Star!" ("Knock it out of the park!) both Aqua and Aster cried out to the trainers as a show of support, though Ace seemed to just focus and look intently as it was the more "serious" judge waiting for the contenders to take the stage.
Floric looks over the other two trainers. He smiles at them both, but the smile quickly disappears! He places a hand over his heart at the refusal of the other trainers judging. He leans back, and says in a cracking voice of sadness "Oh you wound me!" Yet, he immediately straightens up and gives a wave to the departing duo and the substitutes they left behind. "Though these cuties, ah! They will do! Look at those feathers. Look at the pigment of blue! The angles on that Staryu. Healthy, thriving, and with plenty of room to grow!" He gave a two finger salute to the trainers "Have fun! Enjoy yourselves." He then stepped in front of the judges. He looked over them, they were quite cute. "I hope we perform to your expectations!" He then turned to looked at Reggie, and he rubbed his chin as he seemed to analyzing the man.
He was old, and he was slouching a bit. Nervous, and not very confident, by the shake of his head he doubted himself. Floric tilted his head, and gave a hum before snapping his fingers and looking at the trio of pokemon he had out. "You may not have much experience, but you have passion at least old man! You want to learn? Well its first to know what your pokemon can do! Your Mankey is quite the wild starlut! My Masquerain is quite the impromptu dancer! Let's see how they both do in a short four minutes each." Floric grins and raises a finger up " We both get a minute to talk to our own pokemon...and then let them loose! Whoever our cute judges cheer more for..well they win!" Floric claps his hands and looks back at Gulpin "That sound right co-captain?" The Gulpin pursed its lip and gave a nod, crossing its flabby arms and glaring at the Mankey with as much toxic hate it could. Floric noticed this and rolled his eyes " He takes training very seriously. Don't worry about him. No interference will be allowed from other pokemon!..Except special effects! Use your team how you see fit!"
Floric turned to Reggie and adjusted his sunglasses "What do you say? I will even let you go first!" Floric takes out a pokeball and rolls it in his hands eagerly.
As the hoppip ferris wheel began moving, Briar could see much of the park grounds. The gyarados roller coaster, several food vendors and even a battle area which looked pretty tempting. Baba was staring at the roller coaster. Not out of desire to ride again, but in content as she had in her own mind conquered that gyarados ride. The victorious monkey watched with crossed arms and nodded her head silently.
Briar listened to Adrianne explain her plans for the WCS. Her nervous behavior made sense considering she was still just beginning her adventure. Being an experienced battler and ranked member in the WCS, she felt her advice solid enough to share.
"Yes well... Given your pokémon already have a good starting place. Experience and skill come with time, so the most useful thing now is confidence. You believe in them and they believe in you. Give them something to believe in sugar! Believe in yourself" Briar commented, without even chuckling that time. As they neared the top, Baba began to point and yip. Briar looked and noticed they could see the dance battle. She smiled but turned away.
"Sorry" she muttered under her breath. She did not wish to judge the dance contest as it brought back memories of her former dance club. For the past few days she had mostly been going through the motions, not really feeling like herself. Though after giving that advice to Adrianne, maybe she needed to take her own advice? Baba sat on Briar's lap and casually began to play with her own feet as she enjoyed the ride.
~Meanwhile...~
Claudia had sat there watching the trainers. The cheering and excitement is what peaked Claudia's interest at the moment. Though for the moment, she sat there quietly unaware of why anyone was cheering. That didn't stop claudia from giving a big warm yet mildly oblivious smile and cheering along as well.

Oh?
That theatrical display of disappointment and heartbreak... He really was sort of like a long-lost cousin!... Of sorts.
And he even had an eye for Pokemon health. Reggie looked over at his Mankey. He had yet to groom the Mankey because he literally just caught him a couple hours ago. He felt a little bad about it.
Would he object to a bath...?
Reggie was pulled out of thoughts as Floric turned to him and gave him his idea and compliments. His eyes widened, gratitude clear on his face as he bowed to Floric, completely missing the 'old man' comment until he had a better mind to process what he said. "Ah, you're so ki- OLD???" He just about coughed up his soul right there. His expression was an odd smile, but it held no warmth. Just confusion. "I swear I'm only a few years older than you."
Reggie looked over at the Gulpin, raising an eyebrow at the Gulpin's serious expression. It looked really adorable, he just wanted to squish its cheeks-
Anyway, he noticed Gordon didn't even notice the Gulpin. He was looking straight at the flying bug, then looking up at Reggie with a squeak.
Special effects, hm? Reggie grinned.
He was starting to feel confident, an impromptu dance would surely show Gordon and Jones that he had what it takes to win over more of their respect and make sure that Frillish doesn't drown him. Again.
Giving the guy a thumbs up and a wink, Reggie announced his answer proudly. "I'll take it! Come on, Go-AH!"
The Mankey was happy that Reggie was just as willing that he ended up pouncing Reggie and swinging off his arms and shoulders. "H-h-hey, c-cut it out...!" He said in amused exasperation, the Mankey laughing as Reggie tried to catch him before jumping off and walking off towards the side.
Sighing, Reggie walked over to Gordon, squatting down so he can talk to the Mankey in hushed tones.
"Alright, you got some breakdancing moves, yeah?" Gordon nodded. "Okay. I got some stuff for that. Don't worry about the moves, my Pokemon will make sure they don't hurt you. They're your allies, too. I can trust that you know what you're doing, yeah?" Gordon nodded, bouncing on his feet. "And while we're here, why are you so docile? You're not as mean as the other Mankey."
Gordon gestured to the whole of Pokemon Park with wide arms and Reggie smiled. "Ah, so this is home, hm?" Gordon squeaked and nodded. Giving a head pat, Reggie then released the Frillish. The Water/Ghost-Type glared at Reggie, clearly still wild in his roots. Reggie sighed, understanding and feeling the Frillish's frustration. "Here, I wanted to see if you'd like contest work. I know I should spend some one on one time with you. After this, I promise I will. Okay? That way you can tell me whatever you want." The Frillish crossed his tentacle arms before sighing, floating off to the side to watch, not really caring what's going on and he was sure he wouldn't find this the least bit entertaining. Reggie then stood up, turning his attention to Gordon. "You ready to think on your feet, bud?" He said a bit louder, Gordon squeaking with joy.
The two walked up to their side of the field, Reggie holding a Pokeball in his hand as he gave a determined grin. "Alright, we're ready!"
Gordon squeaked, stepping forth with wild... grace? If one would call it that.
"Woah~!" Adrianne said as they began to move up, the view as they were ascended high on the ferris wheel seemed to give them a good outline of the park; from the Gyarados Rollar Coaster, to various food venders and most important of all the area where Reggie prepared his epic dance off. Adrianne had felt a touch of guilt for not being there to oversee the event, but she wished him well and who knows maybe if the ride finished quickly she'd catch the tail end of it.
Briar seemed to offer a piece of advice to the younger trainer, and Adrianne would do well to listen to any tips she'd get as her peers all seemed more seasoned trainers and travelers than herself and those words of Briar struck a cord. Adrianne was someone who figured she'd never lack confidence, and she tried to support her team best she can but on the eve of a future first real test she seemed to show her nerves which seemed inevitable for a relative greenhorn to this scene. Those words of Briar seemed to mean a lot and as they ascended to the peak of the ride she could not help but smile back at the older woman.
"Thanks, yeah suppose the reality of all this has some Butterfree trying to sneak out of my gut, but I'll be sure not to forget that. I know I gotta trust myself, trust my team and know together we can get the job done. Believe me, I'll be sure not to live a regretful path~!" Adrianne said with a sort of inspired flame, though as the ride settled she noticed that Briar seemed to look with regret to the direction below where Reggie had been and muttered...something, under her breath which she had not picked up on.
"Uh, you okay?" Adrianne asked as she wondered what was o Briar's mind.
During all this the Pokemon watched the scene unfold before them. Cute the Pokemon of Adrianne may be, they were here to do their best to be good judges. It was new territory for the trio, and the admittedly up close and personal nature of Floric seemed to rub Ace the Spearow the wrong way, but the eternal grump was gonna be fair and much as the compliments seemed to surprise Aqua the Azurill she seemed to think he was nice enough. Aster the Staryu was...harder to read, but seemed to be excited enough if its movements had been anything to go by.
"A-azu." ("Yeah Claudia s-seems like a fun time.") Aqua had said to the Clodsire seated besides them. Whether she'd e a spectator or a judge with them had been less than clear but the Azurill seemed to support its stance.
Floric seemed to outline the rules for the contest in his own colorful way, and to the group of Pokemon it seemed to be fair enough rules. A minute for each side to outline what they wanted to do, 4 minutes to perform for each all seemed to be balanced enough, Floric even seemed to allow Reggie the chance to go first if he so desired. Ace got a kick out of the old comment and snickered a bit which Aqua found rude though the Spearow laughed openly when Gordon had began to attack Reggie as Aqua looked concerned and Aster's expression remained well...unexpressive.
However, Reggie seemed to get through to him and before long the monkey took the stage as the judges waited to see the first performance take place.
As the hoppip reached its peak, the trainers had a remarkable view. Baba leaped off Briar's lap and climbed the side of the ride before hanging by her tail underneath the roof. Arms spread out wide superman style and her eyes closed, Baba was a flying monkey now. Briar patted Baba on the cheek, but was staring in the distance. She listened to Adrianne accept her advice, but her mind was somewhere else. More specifically, she was remembering the day she first opened her dance club.
Baba was younger and a couple of her pokémon hadn't evolved yet. She was thinner and hadn't quite developed such a drinking problem yet. She didn't want to burden Adrianne with such thoughts seeing how she had her own challenges. Briar let out a sigh before thinking her words carefully.
"I couldn't do it. Judge their dance off, as cute as it was. It just brought up some old memories is all. Couldn't afford to keep my dance club. That's why I'm on my journey now. Maybe getting good in the WCS would help me raise money to start it up again" Briar smiled slightly. It was enough to spark some joy but she still had her doubts.
Floric looks over the other trainer. Though he says he is not that old, it does not change his opinon. The man was older. It was interesting to see how he responded. The man seemed about to cough the life out of himself. Floric's grandmother had always had the opinon people were like wine, the older they were. Well the more experience and tales it meant the more interesting. To him that made sense, yet why did people dispair over their age then? Floric drummed his fingers on his leg as his oponent agreed. Floric gave a half smile and a two finger salute back, watching as the man went to his pokemon.
He tilts his head as he watches him. His arms crossed.
The Gulpin beside gives a huff and then it looks up at its owner and complains quietly "Gulpin."
Floric does not even look down at the Gulpin. He just says idly "I know..I know. Beneath you, Beneath the others. Yet who knows, someone spontaneous and unpredictable...you have to be prepared..Maybe this will be nothing..Maybe they will surprise you."
Gulpin was quiet as he pursed his lips, before quietly huffing and asking Floric "..Gulpin, Gulpin?"
Floric raises a eyebrow without looking at the Gulpin and he said "Why so nice?..Because I feel like it. No need to rile or put doubt in his head. This is not a competition. They just..want fun." He gave a small, honest grin at the end. "Lets enjoy ourselves my friend. How often do you get to see someone..perform for the first time? Do you remember ours? In that alley where I found you" As he said this, his other pokemon gathers around Floric. His Masquerain hovering beside him, and his Pachirisu climbing up his body and then wrapping itself around his neck like a scarf. Gulpin did not move as it hummed to itself before saying softly "Gulpin. Gulpin Gulpin" It then pointed to a nearby trashcan.
"With all the trash yes. You never forget your first performance..so make sure they do not forget theirs..be a good audience." Floric said softly.
Then Floric was called too, he flashed a large grin and cheered "You got this Reggie!" He beckoned the other pokemon closer, especially the judge pokemon. He knelt by those that got close and took a seat in the grass. "Now, I know this is your first time judging you beautiful lot..but the important thing to remember is this..Be polite, but not so quiet. Be amazed, but not so wowed. And it is fine to cheer, but not so loud." He grinned at them "And enjoy the show!"
He looked at Reggie and he shouted out "READY?! ON YOU! SHOW US WHAT YOU GOT!"

Reggie grinned, getting fired and pumped up as even his own opponent was cheering him on! That was one hell of a confidence boost!
With a small word to the audience, Reggie jumped back as he let his Mankey be the star of the show. Speaking quiet words to the ball in his hand, he then released a Pokemon, the shadow disappearing from the Luxury Ball as soon as it was released as it sunk into the ground immediately. The Mankey did a little shuffle, squeaking and grunting some beat or song he had heard a while ago. Purple mist began to creep up from the ground and the Mankey was all too excited to do a twirl on his head, and then doing the "flare", a spinning technique on your hands where the legs flare out. The spin caused the purple smoke to swirl around the Mankey.
Sensing heat below and wanting to avoid it with pizzazz, the Mankey suddenly vaulted into the air with his tail, spinning comically elegantly before seeing little ghostly wisps of flame in the middle of the purple ring, causing a soft glow. With Flying-Type power cloaking his leg from the move Acrobatics, the Mankey dove down and kicked at the building flame underneath, sending the flames and gas outward in a dazzling display of soft embers and cute puffs that ignited with the fire, causing mini explosions and little pop noises.
The Mankey had landed on both feet, dove forward in a roll to swipe at the gas that missed some errant embers with his tail, causing more mini explosions. The little blasts propelled him towards his opponent, where he suddenly cartwheeled and then stopped on one hand, squeaking up at the man with a slow circular wave of his tail.
Reggie looked at Briar's Clodsire and Adrianne's Azurill, Spearow, and Staryu a couple times throughout the performance, having put his trust in his Haunter to make Mankey look good when he danced.
While he would like to know the judges' opinions, he would prefer to know how Floric thought of it. Reggie looked so proud, pumping his fist in the air once Gordon ended the little impromptu dance. He waited patiently for Floric's expression, anything, while his Haunter revealed himself from the shadows beside Reggie and chortled quietly.
Meanwhile, his Frillish stared at the show. It was... cool. And that was all he was going to admit to himself with.

They seemed to ascend to the top, and the view of things was so amazing! Adrianne felt she could see the whole world from up here, and as she smiled she couldn't help but chuckle a bit as Baba seemed to close its eyes as it imagined itself in the air. Was just such a cute visual, though even as she looked around below her seeing everything from her sky high view, she noted Brair's response was delayed before she seemed to open up a bit about why she felt uncomfortable judging the dancing contest.
Adrianne had not expected that she had a tough background that connected to such an event, and yet here she was as Briar seemed to lament over her lost dance club and what she hopes to gain back through the WCS and her general adventure. Once more, it seemed Adrianne and a traveling companion who had their struggles, and much as she wasn't exactly a motivational speaker but she felt like she needed to say something.
"Hey I understand, I can't imagine that experience was easy. Still though maybe having watch something like that could help you acclimate back to things? From what I see you have the talent and character to bounce back so I have no doubt you'll get the money to try again if you wish. But from my experience dancing around an old wound without trying to let it heal doesn't help." Adrianne explained as their ride seemed to begin to descend down.
During this, the judges watched the coming performance as Reggie seemed to have first crack, and already the presentation of things seemed to impress them. Aqua the Azurill and Aster the Staryu seemed to be in aww of the effects of the Luxray Ball, and the way Haunter used its ghostly illusions to help light a spark around the energetic dance in particular seemed to be a bit of synergy that wooed them. "Star!" ("Amazing!")
Ace the Spearow was more focused on the Mankey's movements specifically as the primate had quite the energetic performance to it. It performed flips, it spun around and even cartwheeled landing on its limbs with a nimble grace to it. Ace was never the type to look impressed with much, but even this sulk could admit that Gordon seemed to be performing strongly and seemed into the display which was significant.
The judges seemed to enjoy the performance, as Reggie and his team were off to a strong go.
As Baba continued to enjoy the breeze blowing through her fur, Briar watched the clouds. She listened to Adrianne. She sat there silently with a calm smile. The ferris wheel continued to spin. Eventually Briar spoke up. Placing a hand on the guard rail.
"Yeah. You may be right. I guess I just needed to hear it. Thanks, sugar. Do you want to meet up with the others after this or anything?" Briar asked.
While this was going on, Claudia quietly watched with a vacant but cheerful smile. Claudia gave very little reaction save for a few glances and clapping. It was difficult to tell whether she was impressed or not, but she was certainly enjoying the show.
As the performance began Floric, tilted his head as he watched. He nodded his head and gave a encouraging smile as it began. Seemed like Reggie was not going to rush this, he was taking it very seriously. He looked to the side at Gulpin with a knowing look as the Mankey appeared and started to grunt out a beat. The Gulpin pursed its lips, not saying anything. Floric chuckled to himself and focused again on the Mankey. The sight of it spinning the mist with its body. the performance was popping. Especially with the literal explosions. He commented softly "Not bad, nothing difficult. Flash and wow. Get their attention especially their eyes and ears."
The Gulpin beside gives a huff and crossed his arms. Being difficult of course. Floric gave him a little nudge with his foot, a smile on his face, an unspoken understanding between the two of them as the Gulpin's frown shrunk slightly. The two proceeded to bob their heads to the Mankey's beat.
Passion in the performance was evident to Floric. He could feel that the Mankey was enjoying it. Emotions were contagious, and the judges were won quickly over. There were few that would not enjoy the sight of someone giving their all. Especially when their all is bombastic as the explosions around this Mankey. Floric looked at the judges and grinned at their cute expressions. A good time for everyone it seems, that is what truly matters in the end.
He gave a thumbs up as the performance ended and then clapped his hands together. His Gulpin doing so as well, and even looked like he was putting effort into it "Gulpin Gulpin Gulpin" the Gulpin said.
Floric chuckled and then said to Reggie as he approached him clapping "I agree, that Mankey is quite the dancer. It almost felt like a battle against some unseen foe! And your Haunter is a great stage manager, I applaud him as well." He then lightly punched Reggie in the shoulder with a smile "But you forgot a bow! Let the judges and audience know you appreciate them." He then bowed slowly, with one foot behind the other. He then spun and pointed in the sky, his hand descending to point on the audience. He quickly stopped the pose and said to Reggie" You can make your own with a little special flare for all your pokemon! A little pizzazz and respect goes a long way!"

Reggie was both glad that the judges seemed to like it so much, but even more so when he caught sight of Floric enjoying the performance, even trying to get his Gulpin to lighten up. He wasn’t expecting the clapping though, Reggie’s stunned expression shifting to one of a humorous smile as Floric lightly punched his shoulder after giving his Pokemon quite the compliment. He chuckled, rubbing his shoulder. “Ah, haha, got too into the moment.” It was at least a genuine excuse. He was actually so concerned about how Floric thought of it that proper etiquette was forgotten.
His Mankey at least rolled forward, having curled up into a ball towards the judges before popping up on his feet and bowing. Emeric disappeared, the Haunter reappearing as a misty shadow behind Mankey as he also mimicked his bow. Reggie chuckled, feeling weirdly self-conscious at the moment, but he did a bow, mimicking the stance Gordon had before straightening up and looking at Floric. “You got some moves for us to see, too?” He asked, wanting to see what Floric had in store. Hearing this, Gordon and Emeric came back and stood beside Reggie.
He would love to learn from a good dancer, get some good ideas going for some contests.
Meanwhile, the Frillish watched, eyes narrowing. He got hungry, and so disappeared further into the forest.

Adrianne seemed to smile a bit, happy her words could help the situation. She lacked Briar's life experience with this being her first adventure and all but it was still touching to hear she was able to lend some positive words her way. The one thing Adrianne wanted to do more was sort of pull her weight in this group due to worries of her inexperience by comparison so stuff like this was a step in the right direction far as she had seen it.
"Thanks, happy to help and if you ever want to talk about something that upsets you, my ears are always open~" Adrianne said with a smile.
When asked what to do next, she seemed to nod a bit. "Suppose I'd like to go back to check on them, heck if we time it right we may turn up at the tail end of the contest." Adrianne said as she seemed to want to know who ended up winning that little dance battle. What can she say? Adrianne was naturally curious of this sort of thing even for a contest she was not involved in directly!
Speaking of that aforementioned contest...
"Spearow! ("Yeah a bow is what I-I mean we deserve!") Ace the Spearow seemed to almost be a bit smug in agreeing with Floric that a bow to them would've been appreciated. Though Aqua seemed to frown a bit. "Azu..." ("We are here to judge them, not be the center of attention.") Aqua the Azurill seemed to remind as Ace rolled his eyes and Aster looked on its own face betrayed no expression. Nothing unusual given the fact that its face was a gemstone of course but there was more to it even beyond its usual biology at play here.
Aster the Staryu seemed to agree with Reggie in that it now wanted to see what Floric could do now...
The talk with Adrianne had given Briar some things to think about. She already known them herself, but the reassurance made her want to double down on it even more. She had parts of her life that she'd need to work out if she was going to accomplish anything she wanted in life. She'd need to become a new Briar. A better Briar. She smiled at Adrianne.
"Yeah, totally! Let's see how they're doing" It was a bit awkward walking back now as she felt a little bad about leaving them like that, but she had some time to think and enjoy the ferris wheel. She was also looking forward to watching. She smiled and waved.
"Looks like you guys are doing well." In the meantime Claudia was taping her foot matching the rhythm and enjoying the show as she casually listened to the conversation between pokémon.
