Registration drew swiftly to a close after the 100th contestant was entered, and a man with a megaphone, similarly to the Capture Challenge, stood at a podium near the starting area of the Battle Challenge.

"Welcome one and all to the Battle Challenge! We have accepted exactly 100 contestants! Now, please pay close attention to the rules!"

He cleared his throat.

"Rule number one, all contestants shall use a maximum of six Pokemon; and all contestants must limit their chosen number of Pokemon to match the number used by their opponent."

"Rule number two, all contestants must remain within their respective boxes on either side of the arena at all times until the battle has concluded."

"Rule number three, all contestants must accept any challenge request."

"Rule number four, flying Pokemon must remain within 10 meters of the arena's ground-level boundaries. This will rule will be enforced by our team of officials who have access to specialized tablets with access to our satellite feeds. All of them can see a VR boundary around each arena. If the boundaries are broken the arena will light up in red on their tablet, alerting them to a violation. They will immediately halt that match for Official review, and it will be up to their discretion upon reviewing footage whether to disqualify the Pokemon who is in violation of this rule from the match."

"Rule number five, all matches will have a strict 5-minute time limit. No exceptions. In the event of a draw in the number of Pokemon remaining at the end of the bout the winner shall be decided by way of Official Review."

"Rule number six, switching a Pokemon constitutes a KO, and that Pokemon will not be usable for the duration of the bout."

"And finally, rule number seven. All contestants must exercise safe and ethical battle tactics as they do with all official Pokemon League matches. Any contestant who violate this mandate will be summarily arrested by our local Law Enforcement Team, and all Pokemon in their possession will be confiscated pending an investigation into their conduct."

He beckoned a man forward who held a standard start gun, loaded with a blank so it would make enough noise to signal everyone without endangering anyone with a live bullet.

"All contestants, ready!"

The man with the gun aimed skyward.

"BEGIN!!"

The gun went off, and the Battle Challenge had officially begun!

Trainer
Rio
Tomohiro
Battle Challenge, fight 1

Just one among a hundred, the blue haired trainer that was Rio had found himself more interested in the company around him, rather than the rules being relayed to the contestants. An intense blue eyed glare would find itself flickering between trainers as the rules that were largely found within the pamphlet they had recieved were being read out to them via megaphone. This was undoubtedly a precautionary measure taken to prevent 'cheats' from claiming that they had not read the pamphlet detailing the rules for the event.

Less interested in hearing what he was already aware of, Rio continued to study the competition; aiming to identify trainers who at first glance appeared to be the ones to beat. Even a novice could tell that there was a highly varied group of trainers participating; some greenhorns as well as some who clearly reaked of 'experience'. It would undoubtedly be a tough test for those that were less experienced as trainers; not only due to their lack of battle wit but simply because they were probably out numbered in terms of the amount of pokemon they had. Rio for example only had Yoru alongside him. He didnt have the luxury of rotating his pokemon like some of the other trainers would. Sighing, he simply sought to identify those who were closer to his level.

While it was nigh on impossible to remember 99 other faces; the majority of which were strangers; Rio did take note of several faces he had seen participating within the last event; one of which was the previous winner; though considering his hurried exit he had yet to realize that they had in fact won and had simply brushed them off as a lucky survivor that he had attempted to sacrifice to the over zealous Arbok.

Having taken note of some of the competition, Rio would reaffirm his plan of action; just in time for the competition gunfire that signalled the start of the tournament. Just like before, Rio had begun moving away from the large group of competitors, aiming to find a more secluded area to battle; one where the eyes wouldn't be directed at him and his competitor. The more battle secrets he kept, the better his chance to progress far into the tourney.

Alas, his attempt to go any further than he had done so was halted as a voice echoed behind him. "Yo Yo Yo... Check it out~!!!" echoed a voice from behind Rio, a blonde haired man rocking a red bandana and chestnut colored blazer had managed to follow Rio to this present location; several rotom drones buzzing about mid-air with obvious video camera's also present. In the man's right hand was a large bluetooth mic; the base of which held a fancy looking black pokeball and in his left hand was a large stereo; the mans voice reverberating through the double speakers of the stereo device.

"A one, A two... A one two three... i'm starin at a man, about ta taste defeeeeaaaat" continued the eccentric man as he unclasped the black pokeball from beneath the microphone and threw it towards Rio. "MC Dread, I choose you~!" he screamed into the mic, as a large blue bipedal pokemon burst forth into existence; a loudred with a mouth almost as big as his trainer.

"Ya aint got nowhere to run buddy, both me and the mc gonna take ya out and ain't nothing ya gonna do bout it. Those be the ruuuuleeess" he spat into the mic; his back arched backward as he screeched into the heavens above. "The only question be, how many groupies ya got... we can do this mano e mano, or we can go full mosh pit and make it a nice six v six, so how dya wanna lose?!!"

A long and pained sigh had escaped Rio's mouth as he listened to the opposite trainer waffle, not really interested in his schtick and simply desiring a quick end to the vitriol of BS that was spewing forth from his mouth.

"A 1 v 1 sounds good, the quicker I don't need to listen to your nonsense, the better" replied Rio, who was clearly quite aggrevated with the loud mouthed nuisance. Of all the trainers he had to go up against first... it had to be an annoyance.

"A 1 v 1? An appetizer for the Dreadmeister" muttered the opposing trainer as he turned to face the rotom drones. "Yo yo yo check it out, this my first bout, how long ya reckon till the wimp checks ooooouuuuttt~~~!" he shouted to the camera's, his large mouthed pokemon companion dancing to the groove.

Meanwhile, Rio had grasped his pokeball; calling forth Yoru who had flipped forward into the newly generated battlefield. "Yoru... no nonsense this time.. lets make this quick. I've got a headache building up" voiced Rio, getting his pokemons nod of approval.

The rotom drones would soon take their positions right before the fight begun.

Zera

Zera hummed softly as the rules for the battle competition were spelled out. It was a bit different from what she had envisioned it being. It was more league rule oriented, and not a free for all like she thought it would be. She was a bit disappointed by the fact her initial ideas on how to survive until everyone else was tired out wasn't exactly an option. With a few steps she lined herself up to one of the drawn battle arenas her eyes focused on the ground until the starting gun was fired. Lukina tugged at her jacket to get her attention and with a glance her eyes followed where the Pokémon was pointing. It seemed she had an opponent already, they stood at least a head and a half taller than herself. They were dressed immaculately in something close to what a butler would wear. The guy was seemingly up there in years cause the grey in his hair was noticeable.

A raised eyebrow was the only thing Zera did before they shared a look. A silent challenge hung between the two before the older man reaches into his jacket pocket, producing a Pokéball from it. "Go Magmar." The fire Pokémon appeared with a fiery entrance. Flames licking around its body for a moment or two before the show of power stopped with a snap of the gentleman's fingers.

Zera observed the Magmar for a number of moments and contemplated. This type of Pokémon wasn't something Lukina could face yet. Her newest addition sadly wasn't trained at all yet sadly random chance had been less than kind to her in this challenge and needlessly throwing either of her Pokémon at the Magmar would be a fools attempt. With a soft sigh Zera shook her head. "I withdraw. Right now, neither of my Pokémon stand at the level to beat a Magmar. I expect you or the person that beats you to win." With that said she scooped up her bunny partner who was about to hop into the battle area. "You aren't ready for something like that Lukina, at least not yet." The Buneary seemed to pout but didn't argue as Zera nodded to the gentleman and walked away from the field.
