It's been years since Team Rocket disbanded. Years since anyone has seen this criminal organization in the public eye. They all thought that it was gone, little did they know that they'd been in hiding, working on their most devious plot ever. Giovani may be gone but Team Rocket lives on. Things are beginning to be set in motion if not for one little snag. But, this can be fixed, so that soon Team Rocket will regain their place as the most feared gang in all of the Kanto and Johto Region!
But what is this snag? Well, it would seem that one of their members has stolen something from them. Something that is vital to their plans. They must get it back before things go wrong. Things are already set in motion and they can't just wait until that's done. But no matter, everything will work out according to plan.
But who are you? Are you yet another Trainer who aims to become the Champion of the Pokemon League? Perhaps you are a wandering traveler who just happened to get mixed into all this. Or maybe, you are a member of Team Rocket, working to make its dreams come to fruition.
In this world, the Kanto and Johto Region share a single league, the Indigo League. Any Pokemon Trainer can go to any of the 16 gyms across the 2 regions to register to become a Gym Challenger. Only 8 badges however are needed to enter the Pokemon League Tournament rather they are collected from Kanto, Johto, or a mix of both. Once they have obtained their 8 badges it's off to the League where every so often the Pokemon League Tournament is held. If you win this tournament you gain the right to challenge the Elite 4. Defeating them will allow you to face off against Champion Lance, if somehow you can beat him you will then become the Champion.
Of course, in this world, the Champion sets the rules for the League. Currently, the rules allow for any Gym Leader to have their own rules for their Gyms. Including their successors, gym trainers, and the like. But At any point, the Champion may change these rules as they see fit while they remain champion.
Here is a list of the Rules for this RP.
- 1) You may start the RP with up to 6 Pokemon.
- This doesn't mean you can't collect more as the RP proceeds.
- 2) These Pokemon may be from any region
- As long as they don't break any other rule
- 3) You may not have a Legendary or Mythical Pokemon.
- In this world, there is only 1 of each of these Pokemon and there will be some story elements for them as the RP continues. I see Box art Legendaries as Legendaries, even if they also fall under Ultrabeasts or Paradox Pokemon.
- 4) Ultra Beasts and Paradox Pokemon are allowed within Reason.
- There should be a good reason for why your trainer has one of these as I won't just allow anyone to have one. So please explain in your CS how they obtained it/why they should be allowed to have one.
- 5) No Fake Mon.
- This includes Species, Megas, Regional Vairents, Gigantimax, forms, etc.
- 6) Fake Mon Exception
- There will be a slight exception to this. For Example, you can have a Rotom but possess an electronic.. however, only the forms from the games may be used in battle. Mimmiku may wear other 'clothes' instead of just a Pikachu one. If it involves clothing of some kind they can wear it/change it. I'll let you know if I have an issue with it.
- 7) Nothing from the Upcoming Games/New Releases.
- You may not talk about or use anything from any upcoming games or new releases. Including both brand new games, remakes, '3rd versions', and DLC. Note that this is mostly referring to new content. This includes new locations, Pokemon, forms, items, etc. Note this also includes talking about them in the OOC chat as I tend to prefer to stay as spoiler-free from the games as I can (and yes I count information from official sources, like commercials, as spoilers too). I will let everyone know when a Game is allowed to be used as well as keeping things up to date on here. Nothing from Pokemon Legends Z-A may be used.
- 8) Pokemon Moves
- Each Pokemon can only have 4 moves at a time.
- 9) Changing Pokemon Moves
- When you want a Pokemon's move set to change, you must RP it out. This includes TM/HMs. Just remember a few things. If it's a TM/HM they must have the item to teach it. Egg Moves however can be 'taught'.
- 10) I must approve all Pokemon you use.
- This includes any Pokemon you catch through the RP. You may get them preapproved rather in the OOC chat or even your CS (Just mark them as "PreApproved" So I know you don't have them yet.
- 11) You may catch New Pokemon through the course of the RP.
- However, those Pokemon may only be obtained in the 'regional dex' they are found in. Meaning While we are still in Paldea, you may only catch Pokemon of the 400 in the Paldea Regional Pokedex. They must also be found in their native locations unless you can explain why they are not reasonable. (also, I'm ok with an evolved form of a Pokemon being in an area where you wouldn't see it, just make sure the sighting of said Pokemon is considered uncommon/Rare)
- 12) Battles between Player Characters
- the Player who takes the hit determines whether the hit lands, within reason. I am allowed to change outcomes if something doesn't work. Example: A Pokemon that never seems to take a hit, A Pokemon who should have been KO'd by a certain attack, etc. However, I may rule in favor of the other player if you continue too far past the initial incident. So bring up issues as soon as possible.
- 13) I can have someone lose a battle due to storyline reasons.
- You'll know when something like this will happen.
- 14) For the Pokemon League
- : 8 badges get you into the League Tournament(like you see in the anime) however, winning that makes you are then qualified to take on the Elite 4+The Current Champ.
- 15) There is a limited number of slots available for this RP.
- Please check the 'groups' section to find out more information.
- 16) Players are required to post at least 1 post per day.
- If you do not make a post by the next day, anyone you are interacting with may move forward with the scene. If you do not reply, whether OOC or not in the next 2 days your character will be marked as MIA. Depending on your character's role I may wait up to 3 days before I replace you're slot. The most I will wait is 1 week before I assume you've left the RP.
- 17) Leaving the RP
- If you wish to leave the RP please contact me and we can work on writing out your character. I'd rather avoid just random "And so he left" if we can help it.
- 18) I have the right to take over your character if you are MIA.
- However, the most I will be doing is first I'll write you out of a current interaction. Then I will either have you 'just there' or have you temporarily away from your group. If you are MIA for long enough I will write out your character completely.
- 19) Leave of Absent.
- If you need to go on LOA for a time, first let us know in advance where you can. It is your responsibility to make sure you currently are not in any interactions during your time away (though I'll be more lineante if it's only for a day.) I again have the right to take control of your character to remove them from the interaction as needed. If the LOA is open-ended (meaning you do not know when you will return) please keep in contact the best you can. Unfortunately, I may have to ask you to leave the RP if you are gone for too long (Which I don't want to have to do.)
- 20) Contests will be added to the RP
- See below for details.
- 21) Group Routes
- The 2 groups will most likely take different routes through the region.
- 22) We will be going through the Pokemon League twice.
- Rather we first do the Gyms in Kanto first then Johto or not depending on what you guys are interested in doing. We could have one group do Kanto while the other Johto, both do one region or mix and max the regions using some kind of route.
- 23) Romances are allowed.
- I'd prefer things stay M/F and F/M.
- 24) Regional 'gimicks' (ex Mega Forms, etc)
- For now Your Pokemon may not, Mega, Dynamax/Giagantimax, Terra, or use Z Moves. These will become available as the story progresses.
- 25) Trainers may not use Items in battle
- This does not include held items. That being said, a Pokemon may 'naturally' recover during downtime without needing to use an item or go to the Pokemon center.
- 26) IC-wise, People think Team Rocket is gone.
- This means that unless they encounter them after the RP starts, characters won't know they are still active. Note: This can change for your character to start with knowing they exist if you want some kind of special connection with them (which will need to be approved.)
- 27) Connections with Known Character/Legendaries/Mythicals
- You may not have a connection with Known Characters, Legendaries, or Mythicals without approval. Tbh, I'd prefer you just not have one at all at the start of the RP to easier keep track of things. But if you do want something it needs to be approved. I may also flat-out deny it if it clashes with something I have planned for it. Connections also include 'previous interactions'.
Rules for Contests are as follows:
- 1) First section will be Appeals
- This is where they will demonstrate a single Pokemon.
- 2) Second Section Appeal Battle
- The top 4 will move on to the 2nd portion where they will have an 'appeal battle' (as I'm calling it). It will be similar to how the games do it. This is not an actual battle but simply showing off moves and getting points for it. You'll lose points for your Pokemon flinching.
- 3) You don't have to use the same Pokemon for the Appeal portion as you do the Appeal battle portion.
- But you have to use the same Pokemon for all 5 rounds of the Appeal battle.
- 4) Each participant will choose one of their 4 moves and PM it to me.
- Or put it in the OOC chat if you're just facing my NPCs. Then I will be posting how everything fanned out. The IC reason for this is because the trainer's won't know what the ones before them used before using their move. Similar to the games.
- 5) Now, each move will be one of the following types: Normal Appeals, Flinch Appeals, and Guard Appeals.
- I'll be manually updating your CS's to let you know which ones are which. But I'll break them down in the next 3 points.
- 6) Normal Appeals:
- A normal Appeal gives you 3 points. These will count a fast majority of your move sets.
- 7) Flinch Appeals:
- This will give you 1 point but remove 2 points from all Pokemon that went before it. Most of these moves will be your stat or status-based moves that affect the opponent. Some moves like Explosion, may also count.
- 8) Guard Appeals:
- This will give you 1 point and prevent you from flinching. Move of these moves will be your buffing and healing moves. Rather offensively or defensively.
- 9) If you believe that I've labeled a move wrong when I've manually label them
- please let me know and we can discuss it. But, just know that I may still stick to my original decision, but that doesn't mean that I can't change it.
- 10) If you use the same move in a row
- Not only will you receive NO points, but you'll also not gain the desired extra effect either.
- 11) Special Moves:
- In some cases, I may have a special move or something that breaks the rules I put above. Like a Move that won't get any points but will cause Pokemon to flinch and can be used multiple times in a row. These are reserved for my rival characters to make things more interesting. Meaning you can't have one if you want one.
- 12) The order they go in will be based on the one with the higher points going first to the lowest going last.
- So each round it could change.
- 13) You're points can't drop below 0.
- This is referring to your overall points. So you can gain negative points in a round, but if it puts your overall points below 0, it will return to being just 0.
- 14) Reason for the point system
- just keep in mind.... this point system is mainly to not only make it more fun and provide a bit of a challenge... but more so to help with picking a winner of a contest between two characters in the RP (outside my rival characters/NPCs). Though I can still manipulate it for a bit. I'll also probably just not have a 'main' coordinator like I was going to. So only my 'rival' characters and NPCs will be in the Contests. On top of that, this information is also IC information as well as it's how the points are decided during the contest.
- 16) The Grand Festival
- Will consist of 2 rounds of Appeals and with the top 16 Coordinators moving forward. Then they will be divided into 4 groups of 4 and have appeal battles, the winner's of that will have another Appeal battle to determine the the winners of the Grand Festival."
- 17) Rule on changing your Pokemon during the Grant Festival
- You don't have to use the same Pokemon for the two Appeal Portions or during either Appeal Battle Portion. Mean of the 4 parts, you can use a different Pokemon in each.
- 18) There will probably only be 5 contest halls in each region...
- But you may have your character re-challenge a contest if they need though, contests are timed based (RP Time) so they probably won't be able to have another contest immediately after having the one they were in. The goal is that at the VERY least, anyone interested in Contests will be able to get to the Grand Festival. I'll be adding the locations of contest halls as we get to those regions.
- Kanto Contests locations:
- Viridian City, Celadon City, Saffron City, Lavender Town, Cerulean Cape.
Updates to the Rules may occur, I'll make sure to remark on them when they come up.
There will be 3 (maybe 4) groups for this RP. The two 'hero' groups will feature one of my characters and have slightly different story elements. The 3(/4) group will be Team Rocket. There is 2 slots per hero group and 4 slots for Team Rocket. The RP will begin once the 'required' slots are taken. You may join mid-RP as long as there is a slot open.
Group 1: Group 2: Team Rocket: JC: JC is an orphan who grew up mostly alone in a house in Goldenrod City. Her meals were sent to her via package as she rarely left the house. One day, she was given a Pokemon from the individual taking care of her, allowing her to leave her home and travel. Her goal is to become the Pokemon League champion one day. She also can't help but try and help those in need, even if she fails at doing so. Their encounters with Team Rocket will primarily be "Wrong place wrong time" as things start with them just happen to be where Team Rocket is up to no good. They may eventually work to try and stop Team Rocket as time goes on. They may also be interrupted from time to time by another mysterious individual who's trying to stop their journey. Maya: Maya was found one day trying to enter the Gym Challenge but wasn't able to provide much information. She seemed a little on the shy side and possibly timid but she knew that she had to take on the Gym Challenge as it was very important. On top of that, she's hiding another secret as she has in her position something very important to a certain organization and they want it back. This group will work on going through the Pokemon League on top of having an encounter with Team Rocket. Unlike Group 1, more of their encounters will focus on Team Rocket going after Maya so they will initiate first contact (so to speak). The group can also eventually take on a more proactive stance against Team Rocket as the RP goes on. This group will consist of team Rocket members. They can travel around or stay at the HQ or whatnot. By default, you can be a grunt or even someone they call to get things done, but for now, your characters will be on a 'need to know' basis. They can improve their ranking as the RP continues. Note, they may also go after gyms if they like, it's encouraged actually They will also be called to various assignments to do. Slot 1: [Required] I would prefer this trainer also be a Gym Challenger but that isn't required. This Trainer may also do Contests. Taken By: Bloody_Death Slot 1: [Required] This one must be a Gym Challenger and I would like to have them eventually develop a strong connection with Maya. This can either be close friends or dating. (I only do heterosexual relationships.) This trainer may also do Contests. Taken by: Blade22 Slot 1: Taken by Pumpkid Slot 2: This trainer may only be a Gym Challenger if Slot 1 isn't. However, they may do contests regardless of whether slot 1 is. Just keep in mind that Contests will be Timed based (RP time) which will only be one Contest a day at a location. (I may be open for this also to be a Gym Challenger.) Taken by: Pumpkid Slot 2: This trainer may not be a Gym Challenger. However, they may do Contests. (I may be open for this also to be a Gym Challenger.) Taken by: Chibistaryuu Slot 2: Slot 3: Slot 4:
