Fandom Pokemon Heroes: Kanto

I was thinking about going Vuplix or Growlithe but I feel like they're too mainstream, and Gastly was already taken. Rip gen 1 Ghost types. I was also considering going Cubone for the Lavender town lore but I wanted to do something different with my character and Kangaskhan does technically tie into that lore anyway. (Even though that wouldn't exist in this era I just like spoopy stuff)

Not a real dragon is a fine choice too (Charmander) but I don't like mainstream stuff :'3

Though I was also thinking about how Ponyta would also be a pretty cool pick. Especially for the medieval age. Knights already used horses but imagine a flaming one!
Ponyta would be "Lit" lol. But as for mainstream...there are only so many choices my friend and considering this is a gritty and brutal pokemon version mainstream might not be a bad thing (plus this story predates the entire stream. Lol)

Okay I'll just reserve Kangaskhan for my character. I'll probably never end up deciding if I don't so I'll just go with the safer option. It'd be neat to possibly try to get a Mega Kangaskhan later down the road even if the design doesn't change much.

For my character, I might consider making a peasant-type character. She'll follow the Asian aesthetic that was mentioned earlier. Down the line I might consider making her a Steel-type expert.

... yeah Onix and/or Steelix might not be easy to carry around.

Would this be friendly to people who don't know much about Pokemon yet? I'm still learning about the Pokemon universe. I used to be so much more into it when I was younger, but my interest dwindled over the years. It's recently been rekindled, funnily enough thanks to Go, and I've been craving a really good Pokemon roleplay. Even though my knowledge may be subpar, I'm more than willing to put in the work researching what's necessary. Anyway, just lmk what you think. I'm interested in this; it caught my eye instantly, and I would love to be a part of it if there's still room/if you're willing to put up with my noobishness. If not, no worries at all! I'm more than happy just to spectate.

I am totally willing to put up woth noobishness. Just write it into your character that they didnt really get the educatiin that comes with rich families so the only education you would have on pokemon is what you know. Granted no one is really allowed all the meta knowledge we have about pokemon otherwise we would be unbeatable. As long as you can choose and accurately portray a pokemon go for it. Hell im surprised no one has taken any of the starters yet.

Ah, that's such a relief! Thank you so much. I'll be sure to write it so it's natural for my character (wouldn't think of trying anything else, to be honest. I get so mad at myself when I make unintentional inaccuracies; the more I can do to prevent that sort of thing for happening, the better). I'm thinking of going for Magikarp or Feebas because we seem to be in need of a water type pokemon. I can't tell which is better in terms of "power", but I do think the transition from poor lil' Feebas to beautiful Milotic would make for some interesting character development on my part, if I can work it in the way I'm thinking. So I guess that brings me to my next question:
  • How important is it to have a strong pokemon?
    • Is it our writing or the stats that will have a greater impact on the story itself? I know that they'll have to be important for battles and deciding the outcomes of said battles (correct?), but it's the actual progression and development that I fancy. This also tells me just how in-depth I need to go with my research.

Well feebas is not allowable its only 1st gen. Im not sure about stats but im about to go to sleep.

Hey I have a question! I was thinking about the backstory/plot for my character and I was thinking about how they would meet their Kangaskhan and all. If it ever came down to Mega Evolutions would it be alright to use a redesigned image for Kangaskhan? The only literal change is how Kangaskhan's baby fights alongside them and I wasn't even sure if I was going to include the baby for backstory purposes.

It would also be neat to give Kangaskhan a second typing upon Mega Evolution since they're just a Normal type but I understand if this wouldn't be allowed.

My other question was if there was going to be Shinies allowed in this Roleplay.

Also since this is a medieval Roleplay would the Pokemon be allowed to wear their own armour?

Gotta ask the important questions.

Ok sorry to chanhe on ya for a second time. But Dratini is up for grabs again.
I will be claiming Machop for my main guy and will be changing his image as well.

All will be revealed in a few short hours.

Here is the lore. Building the Occ now and the Cs will be up afterwards.

I was just about to tag everyone and request they reverify their claims. But i suppose i could go and form a list again.

The claimed Pokemon are

Machop (fighting)
Cleffa (Fairy)
Kangaskahn (Normal)
Gastly (Ghost/Poison)
Magikarp (Water)
Oddish (Grass/Poison)
Pidgey (Normal/Flying)
Magnemite (Electric/Steel)
Eevee (Normal)

If you are still accepting people, I would love to join! I love the concept and the lore, and as a Pokemon fan, this is right in my area of expertise. I see no one has claimed Vulpix yet? I think it would make for an interesting choice in this setting, especially with the possibility of transforming into Alolan Vulpix further down the line. I would like to go ahead and claim Vulpix if that's possible.

I am. Its an open world story with a plot mingled in so im always accepting and am willing to allow people decently free reaig in their own rights. The only thing i will say is that vulpix will need more than just a firestone to evolve, it will need experience and training.

That's precisely why Vulpix is my choice. Being able to watch my character grow alongside her Pokemon in a world where experience is essential sounds like the perfect scenario for me. Count me in!

No on shineys for now hue hue hue. I have a plan for that so for the current moment the answer is no.

Yes to poke armor, even poke weapons can be used to some capacity as long as its possible. (Digglet doesnt really have arms but a spiked helemt would do him good.)
