I want to start collecting domain name suggestions for the site. Once we have a bunch, I can make a poll and let you guys pick one by popular vote.


Personally, as this isn't a pay-site, I'm inclined toward .net or .orgs.

Have you considered www.exaltedcompendium.tk? At www.dot.tk you can register the site for free. There is no upkeep, and no pup-ups or banners (the banner that comes when you open the site can be turned of in the options).


Its pretty easy to get working, but not as cool as a real domaine name, so maybe I really should be wondering why I am still writing on this post - and I have just realized why. It's so that I can recommend:


www.exaltedcompendium.dk - now there's a great name!

Uh.  You realize www.exalted.org is unoccupied, right?  I mean--wouldn't that be perfect?  Not even "exaltedcompendium," but just "exalted?"


Just a suggestion, ;) .

I'm going to automatically disqualify any .gov domains as joke suggestions. I do like both .org suggestions, though I'm going to wait until a few more suggestions come in before putting it to a vote.


I really also like wordman's(?) suggestion of patternspider.net because it has a nice ring to it. I don't think it really screams "Exalted!" to the unwashed masses, though.

No, it doesn't scream "Exalted!" to anyone that isn't relatively familiar.  However, after exalted.org and exaltedcompendium.org, I like patternspider.net.

I concur. patternspider.net would be my third favorite, as well.
 
Joking aside, I really like patternspider.net too.  Sure it doesn't SCREAM Exalted, but it'll still show up on google searches and things for Exalted.

www.malfeas.net is also availible, incidentally.  Given our reputation, it might not be an entirely inappropriate name.  


Our Forums could even be named after Yozis.  Ebon Dragon, of course, would be the newbie help page.
 
You guys know I love this place...but would perpetuating the side of our reputation be such a good idea?  *Shrugs.*


Although, I do like malfeas.net.  Though I like the variety of having different boards have different Exalted motifs, sort of how they are now.

The malfeas.net suggestion was serious, but the renaming the forums was something of a joke.  Hence the "Ebon Dragon being newbie help" thing.
 
Ok. It looks like the new suggestions have petered off, so I've put it to a vote. If anyone comes up with a good suggestion before the name is actually registered, we can run it against the winner of this poll in a one-on-one.

I voted for patternspider.net, simply because exalted.org does feel like the sort of address WW will want to have for themselves. It's too... official.


Also, a little change of identity is not a bad thing. Some parts of the EC needed rearranging. Simply changing names will prevent people from saying: "but it was like that in the old EC!" as though it was an argument.

I voted, for once, since I rarely vote for anything.


I voted for ExaltedCompendium, though PatternSpiders is #2 for me.


Then again CompendiumRedux.net sounds kinda neat.. maybe it's just me.
