Playing More Then One Character

I'm new to the forums, so any RPs that I plan to eventually start would be down the pipe-works a bit. I have a story that would require three initial character creations. The main character, an intelligent elemental creature companion and a mentor. The latter of which would only be "aggressively" used in the beginning and then maybe sparsely sprinkled throughout the rest.

It's been awhile since I've been in the RP scene. Are people interested in doing stories with more then one character to control? Or should I focus my attention to making one a bit more manageable to begin with?

I'm slightly confused; are you saying you personally will be playing all three of those characters? If by "in control" you mean a character you are playing and is the center of an RP, I would say that most people consistently use one unless they get, you know, killed off.

For me, I generally like to plan out the plot with my partner and use several characters at once, just because characters don't exist in a vacuum so side-characters are always needed. I have one main character and then a whole bunch of side ones that pop up every now and then.

I know many roleplayers that control multiple characters in a single RP. It seems to be a thing for some people. So, I don't think anyone would mind if you did, or there would certainly be people who would be happy to do that if you want them to.

Yeah people play multiple characters all the time. I would ask your partners first what they're comfortable but typically they are fine with multiple character.
