Phillip Le Clercq [Crearth: The Third Age]

Alright...it seems mostly fine to me, so far. I haven't really read the background, but what I did look at so far seems pretty neat.

There are just two issues.

One, Virtue Flaw. Overindulgence is a Temperance Virtue Flaw, and Conviction is your highest Virtue. Especially with a Temperance of 1, this is not a possible flaw. The flaw is tied your highest virtue, not your lowest. So need a different flaw.

The other is that the backgrounds seem confusing. I suppose some of it might be clearer after reading the backstory, but it seems that you have a spirit as a mentor, an ally...and a familiar? The first two...you only really need one. A mentor is an ally, of a sort, and an ally is a mentor, of sorts...the main difference is whether one will expect repayment for helping you with something (a mentor) or teaching you something (an ally). One person really shouldn't be more than one of these, depending on whether they're mostly a teacher or a friend helping you out.

And I'm really confused as to how they're a familiar. But I haven't read the background...but if they're a spirit, that's really more a Sidereal Familiar than a Solar one. Solars and Lunars and Dragonbloods get animals...Sids are the ones that get Gods, Elementals and Spirits. *shrugs*

But...after I've read the background, I'll get back to you with more feedback. *nodnods* So take what I've said so far with a bit of salt.

Okay...Nevermind that. I just skipped to the end of the backstory. I think I see what's going on here. Familiar is totally not what you're after here...a familiar is a pet. And a 1 dot familiar is about as scary as a housecat.

This is not a housecat.

What it looks like you're getting at is some sort of spirit ally. What I would reccomend is Ally 2, probably. Being a spirit and stuff, she wouldn't know any Solar Charms or any such, I don't think...so I think that what you're wanting with her is best served with Ally 2. She'll help out, from time to time, possibly help you practice and train and stuff, but really doesn't have much that I think she'd be able to teach to you outside of training with you to up things.

I'll add her to the list of stuff to stat up and such. And yes, I'll make sure to show it to you for approval and such...unless you already have an idea, then stat her up and send her over to me and I can look that over. Either works.

And...in general, for everyone. If you're okay with such, you can leave background dots unspent and let me spend them for you. If you'd like, or can't find anything to spend them on or whatever, if it'd help.

*mutters* I really need a better version of Adobe...feh.

I totally forgot about the Virtue Flaw thing, I think I just chose a random cool one.

I'll fill in my other backgrounds now that I have your opinion on Twilight I'll probably leave a few unspent tho. I've no idea how to stat her up, as I don't know how spirits work mechanic-wise. Thanks :)

*mutters* I really need a better version of Adobe...feh.
Foxit works pretty well for me, its a lot faster than Adobe. :mrgreen:

I think you can choose any virtues over 3 as primary virtues' date=' not necesarilly the highest.[/quote']
That does indeed seem to be the case. I think that I'm remembering from 1E where it was that way, perhaps. Not sure. In either case...he would still need to either switch his virtues to get a 3 Temperance, or pick a different one in this case. But...thanks for pointing that out. *nods*

I still think it's more appropriate to make it off the highest...but eh. It works.

We'll get something worked out. Have been been sort of starting to make them 'as needed' for the different guns.

As to the rest...I see 12 freebies spent into stats, and nothing elsewhere leaving 3 freebies unspent. I see 31 abilities, 6 virtues and 12 backgrounds. A Solar gets 35, 6 and 12...so it seems that he's also got 4 more abilities unspent. No merits and flaws, so that doesn't change things. I could be wrong...but I've counted three times now.

Only other thing I see. On the Hearthstone, in order to benefit from it, you must attune to the Manse. As far as I'm aware, in order to attune to the Manse, you must spend several hours in said Manse, matching your essence flows and stuff. If you have never been to the Manse, you can't be attuned to it, so can't benefit from the Hearthstone in any fashion...

I believe we originally used Jakk's stats, or something of the sort. Still a useful method for things might be simply looting Scion for its gun stats. It uses the same basic system as Exalted, and even adds the two things that guns need. First, they are inherently piercing. Second, armor can be given the B rating, to represent Bulletproof, and not be affected by the piercing effects of firearms. Still, they may be insufficient, considering they are designed to go against Scion armor, which is crap when compared to Exalted Armor, and so have lower damage ratings than they perhaps should.

I completely fumbled some basic math -_-

Nifty Anima. Stags rock. However, Willpower cannot be bought up past the sum of your two highest virtues. Using a House Rule about that.

House Rules[/url]"]* Willpower cannot be bought up past the sum of your two highest virtues (though if pulled below that for some reason' date=' it can be purchased back to that level). Buying up your highest virtues will automatically raise your willpower as well.[/quote']
My intent here is to emphasise what I feel is supposed to be part of the epic feel of Exalted, where people gain determination (willpower) through having strong beliefs (virtues). Without those strong beliefs, one isn't as likely to perservere in the face of adversity as one who does believe that strongly. <-- *is what I said when first implementing it* In short, you don't raise willpower on its own...you raise it by raising your virtues.

Otherwise, looks good. Will look into backgrounds and stuff for people this weekend. *nodnods*

Edit: Oh yes, and it would be appreciated if the background explained how he got to Virginia, please?

Moved 2 BP to abilities, total of 39 now.

I'll update the background in a post later today ^^

Phillip moved to Virginia just before the war started, he had information that assured him that no valuable target was located in the countryside, so he rented a home there. After Exalting soon after calibration, he wandered the area but decided to stay hidden until he understood what the hell was going in the world.

Moved a couple points around, concept is the same, just focusing a little more on some things to be able to do stuff :P

Skills:

Craft 1 -> 0

Integrity 2 -> 1

Socialize 1 -> 0

Presence 2 -> 3

Resistance 2 -> 3

Archery 2 -> 3

---------------------

Charms:

Dropped:

Mastery of Small Manners (Soc)

Speed the Wheels (Bur)

Purchased:

Hypotic Tongue Technique (Pre)

Iron Skin Concentration (Res)

Hope its not too much of a problem :)
