(*yawn* alright let's see how this goes...)
I'm sorta playing it safe with my first roleplay (EVERR!!!!) and starting off with a Slice of Life genre. Now I know the most famous (or infamous, to some) SoL roleplay is a high school theme, but I decided to mix it up a little bit. These are only the scarce basics:
~The setting will be in a penitentiary boarding school, present day-(-ish.) The academy serves as a second chance at life to young offenders within the ages of 14-20. However, this opportunity doesn't come on a silver platter: each character will have to cope with the madness, such as uncomfortable living conditions, strict teachers, strict curfews, borderline edible food, horrendous uniforms, *and the unknown danger of gangs on the rise.
Every student enrolled in this school will have had to be allowed entry by way of a sentence, (I'm not allowing anything beyond first degree nonsexual assault, but I will be specific on the requirements in the character sheet, or if you ask,)or by expulsion of a severe cause. Juvenile Delinquents who have completed their sentence, are on parole at the time of registration, and are no older than age 16 are qualified for enrollment (that's just me stretching the characters' limits here.)
A merit system will be in effect in the academy. Merits are rewarded when a student does well in their studies, or when one commits a selfless act that benefits their fellow classmates, or the school in its entirety. Merits are spent on things that will benefit the student (extended curfews, opportunity to leave campus, etc.)
Demerits are the opposite; they are given when a student does an act of disrespect to staff, classmates, or one's self. Enough demerits will result in a punishment, the consequences going as far as expulsion. Demerits, however, are not spent in this way; the only way to get rid of demerits is to earn merits.
1 Demerit= -1 Merit.~
Well, that's as far I could go for now. I have some rules and a plot down, but they're really, really crappy, and I still don't have my gang idea down. any questions/comments/concerns you have, or if you're interested in how this will turn out, let me know. and Don't be afraid to let me know if I skimmed out on something. It's my first rp so any reinforcement would definitely be beneficial.
Thanks
