Aster smiled, noticing that Bianca enjoyed her cooking joke. “Alrighty, time to wander!” She pointed at the doors once more before starting towards them. Just as she went to open one of the doors Aster looked over her shoulder, to ensure her friend was following.

“Let’s see. Let’s see.” Aster opened the door, looking down a long hallway. The hall split in four directions not to far from the doorway. “I think we’ll go left!” She gestured. As she walked down the hall she swayed, almost as if doing a subtle dance as she moved.

Bianca followed her leader, tuning in and out of the spirit world. As they walked the halls, numerous floating people swooped down. Distant, hearty laughter echoed through her mind. The bluish tint on the world was a familiar difference that Bianca was comfortable with. She looked down at her feet and found her cat following her again, brushing it's head up against her ankles as the rest of the body wandered aimlessly along the hall. The spirits stopped to stare at her as she walked past. Many of them probably had never seen a girl like her in their undead life. Bianca was also happy to note that the figure wasn't following her (at least not that she could see).

"So what looks interesting Cap'n?" Bianca asked, pretending to tip a hat.

Aster continued to bounce her way down the hall, Bianca in toe. It has been, what felt like forever, since the genie had felt so free. She did a bit of a spin and stretched her finger towards a set of double doors.
“I don’t know where they go, but that’s part of the fun!! Right?” Aster smiled, turning back to the girl following behind her, the draw of the unknown seemingly pulled her towards the doors. The girls eyes blinked green and the doors slowly opened, seemingly on their own. Just beyond the doorway a light shown brightly, it’s source the sun. “Oh, I’m guessing that’s the courtyard. If we’re lucky there might be a fountain or something out there, then I could show you something real cool!” Aster stated, heading towards the doors leading outside the building.

As Gilmore spoke, Will couldn't help but cast a quick glance over all of the different students. He was right; there certainly was variety. Many of those present looked far from human, and those that did seemed mystical in some way or another. It was a little harrowing, being powerless in the face of such overwhelming magic, but Will tried to push the thoughts out of his mind. He knew it would do no good to dwell.

Instead, Will turned his attention back to his fellow student as he introduced himself. "Likewise," Will replied with a grin. He was glad Gilmore seemed to be friendly; in another situation, others might've reacted poorly to his interruption.

Briefly, he wondered if Gilmore could use magic. He looked normal enough, but not all magic users had to be supernatural creatures. Many of them were ordinary humans with extraordinary powers. For all he knew, this student could very well be one such individual.

It was an odd thing to ask, however, especially so early into introductions, so he decided to keep it to himself. Rather, he said "So, what brings you to Pendragon, Gilmore?" There were plenty of magical schools after all, though he supposed few, if any, would accept normal humans.

"I enjoy plants..." he replied, unsure at what reaction such a simple response might warrant. "A lot of magically gifted people have flashy powers that they like showing off. But I prefer the company of plants and helping them grow. So my parents thought this would be a good fit for me. What about you? What brought you to apply to Pendragon, Will?"

He looked around as various other students showed off their powers, teachers along the walls watching to be sure nothing went awry. He pulled a small potted succulent from his pocket and held it in his hand so the boy beside him could see. He frowned, realizing that in his haste to move the plant had become a little dried around the edges.

"Sorry about that..." he apologized to the plant, bringing it close to his face for a moment to brush his warm breath over the plant and speak to it. After bringing it back down in view he traced his fingertips over the waxy leaves of the plant, watching as it slowly went from a dull tone to a more vibrant, rejuvenated green. His expression softened at the sight, feeling better that he'd made up for his neglectful mistakes.

Bianca shook her head. She wouldn't find many spirits outside at this time of day, so she didn't really want to go out there. As she looked back on the spirit world, she saw one ghost in particular trying to get her attention. It was a young boy around the age of 7. He motioned for her to follow him. Bianca nodded at the little boy, then turned to Aster. "There is a little boy who wants to show us something. Care to join?" She asked.

Aster looked longingly to the outdoors. She really had taken a liking to the outside in recent years due to her confinement. She looked back to Bianca, a slightly pouting.
“Oh, okay. Sounds like fun.” She said, replacing the sad look on her face with a more a more recognizable cheerful one.
“Do you follow them a lot? The spirits I mean” she asked the new leader of there group.

Bianca noted Aster's disappointment. "We can go back out to watch the sunset later." She said, giving a small smile to the genie. She didn't mean to upset her, but realized what that sort of outside freedom might mean to her. Living in a lamp did seem to have it's downsides.

Bianca thought a minute at Aster's question, making sure they were on the right track with the little boy. "Not normally. Most of them gawk at me once then don't bother to interact with me. I know the ones that want to do things with me are special." She paused, then thought a little more. "There are some evil spirits out there, and I have gotten caught in some sticky situations because I've placed my trust in them." She hoped this boy wasn't one of them.

The boy turned a corner and stopped. He had led the two to a dead end. He didn't seem to think that, however. He pointed upwards and began to ascend. Bianca looked up and saw a small silver grate. "Any way you could get us up there?" she asked, pointing to the grate. The boy had disappeared within it.

Asteraceae

“I think watching the sunset together would be lovely.”

“Oh, I don’t mind a sticky situation!” Aster smiled to Bianca. The genie did quite enjoy interesting situations, even if most would classify them as dangerous. Aster took a notes of the girl’s openness towards her question, she figured that was a rare quality among her pears, even if she hadn’t met anyone else yet.

Asteraceae looked up toward the silver grate, rubbing her chin inquisitively at the girls question.
“Well, let’s see what I can do!” She smiled, snapping her fingers. The grate fell at the pairs feet. Aster shuddered, her eyes returning to a purple hue. Aster pauses for a moments to collect herself, feeling the fatigue of her powers, but she knew that it was just a side effect of her current state of being and continued on.
“Alright, I can give you a boost up of you need.” She nodded her head confidently to Bianca.

Bianca watched her companion work a bit of her magic. She noted how her eyes changed color when she activated her powers, and how even taking a grate off the ceiling seemed to drain Aster a bit. As Bianca climbed on to Aster, she asked a question that she had been pondering. "Your free will magic. Did you have to develop it? I know being a genie can't be easy, seeing as you can only use magic to serve." The girl climbed into the vent, then turned around and laid down on her belly. Her hair, strangely enough, didn't fall to follow gravity. Instead, it stayed in it's ever-constant "flowy" state, moving as though a ghost would. Though Bianca was used to it, she figured it looked weird to anyone that followed the general rules of physics. She wiped her hands on her shirt and offered them both to help Aster up and through the vent.

Aster smiled up at Bianca, giggling at her. The genie quite enjoyed the way the girl’s hair seemed to defie gravity. “My magic?” She reaches for Bianca’s hands, giving her enough leverage to climb into the vent and join the ghost like girl. The vent was a bit of a tight squeeze for the both of them, even despite Asteraceae’s small size. “To be honest I haven’t always had the abilities I do now. “ she wriggled a bit, getting comfortable in the tight metal space.

“My last master...I mean my good friend Madame Obb actually gave me the greatest gift I’ve ever received.” Aster spoke softly, as if the subject matter was a bit of a soft spot for her.

“She really is a special women, Madame Obb, I mean. She found a way to give me my freedom and let me keep my magic. Ever since then I’ve just been able to do it on my own. I’ll always love her for that.” The genie let out a relaxed sigh. Any time the Madame crossed her she would feel at peace.

“How about you Bianca? How long have you been able to see dead people?” Asteraceae giggled, her words referencing the pairs first conversation. “I really do think your gift is quite special!” Aster smiled.

The little boy made the pair follow him through many twists and turns. His outline in the spirit world was a bright blue, and was easy to see even when he was turned around a corner. The silver reflection of the vents reflected his light throughout the crawlspaces, which made Bianca never loose track of him at any of the turns. Every so often the would pass over another grate, leading back down into another section of another hallway. Bianca would squint her eyes to adjust to the harsh light of the rooms outside of the vents Their only light source came from these grates, which were spaced few and far between. Luckily, Bianca could see just fine with her otherworldly vision activated, as it seemed to be in a perpetual state of light blue. The psychic barely made a noise in the vents, an aspect she gained from years of being around silent beings. She nodded in agreement to the genie's comments about Madame Obb. She was a fantastic woman for opening the school and trying to help so many students all the time. It was even more amazing that she found a way to release Aster, though she could see that Aster didn't quite have the freedom Bianca did. When Aster asked her the question about her powers, Bianca thought for a second in the near silence of the vents. "Thank you. It's a difficult thing to manage. I've been able to see the spirits for as long as I can remember." She said, trying to think of a moment in her life when this other world was never available to her.

"Yeah, my great-times a zillion-granny pissed off a goddess and got the whole family cursed. It has its ups and downs, but it's what makes me me. I wouldn't change it for the world... but I can understand why people don't like me for my snakes. Sometimes, they creep me out, too!" Persephone returned the fairy's shake with a good amount of vigor. "Let's go find our dorms."

Asteraceae

Aster fumled her way through the schools cramped ventilation system. Running into walls, bumping her head on, and occasionally running her fingers into a screw. Her only relief was the periodic light from other vents they passed. Asteraceae was not having a great time, her claustrophobia getting the best of her. The genie’s mind raced with memories of her time spent inside her golden prison. Days, weeks, decades of her life spent in such a terrible place. She couldn’t bare the thought.

“Do..do you think we’re almost to where ever we’re going Bianca? These vents are kinda doing me a frighten.” She asked the girl ahead of her. Asteraceae did take comfort in how easily Bianca seemed to find her way through the dark space, it was nice to be able to follow someone who knew what was going on.

Ah, so he is a mage, and a nature one at that. And with little combat potential, it made sense that Gilmore picked Pendragon. Will had little understanding of wizard hierarchy, being mundane as he was, but he knew offensive magic was viewed as superior. With that in mind, it made sense that his parents had chosen an accepting school rather than a prestigious one.

When Gilmore asked Will in turn, he couldn't help but smile sheepishly. "I'm just curious, I guess. The prospect of a school of magic was just too exciting to ignore." He opened his mouth to say more, but stopped as Gilmore pulled a plant from his pocket. It was a little dry and wilted, but considering where it had been, Will was surprised it was still alive.

He was even more surprised when, as Gilmore began to stroke the plant, it perked up before their very eyes, its dull color turning a spirited green. Will's eyes widened in surprise as he watched, and he leaned forward to get a better look. "It's like it was never wilted in the first place," he whispered with awe, before turning back to the other student. "Gilmore, that's amazing!"

His cheeks turned pink at the compliment, not used to people admiring his abilities outside of his parents. "Well, you can have it, if you like it that much." The warmth in his cheeks complimented the warmth in his chest. It felt good, having someone look at him with curiosity and admiration instead of disgust and annoyance, or clear uncaring.

"I'm glad you could come here." He tilted his head a bit, blinking slowly. It was fascinating to meet someone who didn't have any sort of magical power or skills. He wasn't a mage or a fairy or an angel. Just a regular human wanting to expand his world little by little. There was something very admirable about the prospect and it made him want to work even harder to be someone who lived in a truly equal world.

"I've got a lot to learn too, but if you have questions or want help studying, I'd be happy to help...Will." What was he even saying? He just hoped it sounded as genuine as it was meant instead of sounding high-and-mighty. He reached up and rubbed his nose, averting his eyes. "Or not, that's fine too..." Smooth move Gil. He thought to himself. You're probably going to scare off your first possible friend at a new school.

At that moment, a voice came over the loudspeakers. "Attention all students, the keys to your dorm rooms are now available in the lobby. Please pick them up at your earliest convenience. Thank you, and have a wonderful year!" Persephone turned to Dex. "Well, it's not like we're doing anything- let's go check out our rooms!" She slithered off in the indicated direction, not really waiting for her new friend.

Will smiled as he listened to Gilmore's offer. It was kind of him, considering Will had little to give in the way of knowledge, and more than his fair share of questions to ask. "I'll definitely take you up on that," he replied. He was glad for any help he could get, clueless of magic as he was. Besides, it'd be nice to have a friend before the year started.

Before he could say more, the speaker piped up, saying something about dorm keys in the lobby. "I guess we should probably check that out, huh?"

"I agree." This would be Gilmore's first time attending a boarding school. He had always gone to schools that were near his family home for convenience's sake. So he knew how important it would be to procure his lodging in a fairly timely manner. He had heard that some boarding schools gave single rooms, where others you would have a room mate. He was unsure which of the two Pendragon Academy would be.

He stood up from his chair, pulling down on the edge of his shirt to smooth it around the waistband of his pants before walking toward the doors. While he didn't know where in the lobby he was meant to be collecting his room key, he had a feeling the crowd filing out might give him direction.

"Wait!" Dexeria shouted after Persephone as she slithered off. Dexeria hurried to catch up to the newly met snake girl but the surge of students rushing past her led her to be caught up in the group and thrown around wildly, since she was too small to be noticed. Dexeria eventually ended up somehow shoved under a seat. She slowly crawled out from under the seat noticing the floors of the school were somehow in pristine condition. I suppose this dumb school is pretty new. She though fluttering her wings to take off.

She landed on what she thought was a pole of some sorts. She was still dizzy from her earlier handshake and confused from being treated like garbage by the huge crowd of people. What she had in fact landed on was a boy, she had yet to realize it but she was currently standing on a boy's shoulder. She looked around, having no clue where to go and grew red with rage. She stomped her feet, which would feel like someone was lightly tapping the boy's shoulder, and thought Why do I of all people have to get lost in this stupid school!

Asteraceae

Aster’s fear grew as she seemingly wandered through the schools ventilation system. The metal walls seemed to close in around her. The genies breathing grew heavier and heavier by the second. She looked forward, the darkness blocking her view of Bianca entirely, or perhaps the genie had taken a wrong turn in the vents. Aster had no I idea where she was or what she was doing in the small space at this point, her anxiety reaching a breaking point.

Aster wriggled around, trying to regain her comfort, as she did the metal surface below her began to shake and creek. Suddenly the solid surface under her dropped. Aloose piece of venting tumbled to the floor below, carrying Asteraceae with it. Before the genie even had a chance to react she found herself on the floor of the hall she was above just moments before, surrounded by students, who were just as shocked as she was at her predicament.

“Ouch..” Aster grumbled, rubbing her backside to help relieve the pain . “At least I’m out of there....I guess.” She mumbled, clearly shaken from her fall.

Almost as soon as Dexeria had landed upon the boy's shoulder she heard a loud noise through a set of doors nearby. Her curiosity got the better of her and she found her wings flapping up and down while she headed towards them. As soon as she arrived at the handles she began pulling on the solid door. This task proved difficult, but after a few moments she managed to open up the door and barely fly through without being crushed. Jeez this doors are way too big She thought. Fluttering down the hall, her wings glowing a light blue she saw a small girl with purple hair surrounded by a group of shocked students.

She fluttered right up to the girl landing on her knees. "Hello!" She exclaimed in a loud high-pitched voice. This weird girl was just laying in the middle of the hallway. True Dexeria was not accustomed to human culture but she was sure laying on the floor was a no no. "I don't think you are supposed to lye in the middle of the hall." She informed the girl, clearly assuming she did not know any better. Humans were young and stupid after all, even if she was only 16 fairies lived centuries longer. So she could look down upon humans, she assumed.

Persephone went to get her key, seeing another student- a boy this time. She was an only child, so she didn't have much experience with boys of any species, let alone humans. Still, it couldn't hurt to be polite. "Hi, there. I'm Persephone, gorgon, good to see you."

There was a strange tapping on his shoulder, but when Gilmore turned to see who was there, he saw no one. When he turned his face back however, he came face to face with a girl whose hair seemed to be made of snakes. As he squinted his eyes slightly he realized they were even moving. "Oh! Yes, hello. I'm Gilmore Adroniss. I'm a mage. Natural magic specifically.." He smiled at the girl, reaching a hand subconsiously up to his own hair and brushing his fingers through it.

"Have you gotten your key yet? I was actually looking for where to obtain mine." The crowd he had first hoped to follow had become such a mess that he had begun to give up on his endeavor of finding where to get his room key. Thankfully he'd bumped into another student. Maybe fortune might smile on him and she'd know what to do.
