history and trivia

HISTORY_ for as long as anyone at westbrook high can remember, venus grew up as hannah's right-hand lady, the face peering over hannah's shoulder and the strong pair of hands holding hannah up in every pep rally. but in reality, she was the secret to hannah's success. she landed hannah her place on the cheerleading squad and helped her manage it under the role of co-captain. if hannah was ever too timid to stand her ground, venus would. venus always thought that hannah was too nice, but maybe that's why they made the perfect pair. but even the best of friends have their secrets.
at hannah's seventeenth birthday party, things got wild. one drink led to another, and venus found herself locked in hannah's upstairs bathroom getting it on like marvin gaye with hannah's boyfriend. she later convinced herself that it was the right thing to do, making sure that he was good enough for hannah, because she wouldn't have been able to live with herself otherwise. but on the night of westbrook's second basketball game of the season, venus was in the same situation during the first half. two stalls over, two hours later, during the second half of the game, hannah was found dead.
venus, though upset by her best friend's death, took control of the school. after all, who else was there to lead the masses? her rule is harsher than hannah's ever was. she keeps people in their places, maintains her own position at the top of the food chain, and takes down anyone that stands in her way.

Skylar is such a right brained human being. She is so creative and talented in many ways. She cares for others and strives to help those who are struggling.

Biography:
Skylar Jensen grew up in a beautiful home with a mom and a dad. Her life was pretty good for awhile until around the age seven. Her dad mentally and physically abused her. She became his punching bag. Skylar began to not see anything good in herself, for the pain her father mentally caused her destroyed how she saw herself. This happened for years until one day her mother walked in on all of this and called the police. Skylar's father was sent to jail.

She continued to live her life still suffering from many of the things her father caused her. She fell into a deep dark depression and she hid from the world for a long time. She almost killed herself at age thirteen, but her mother found her before it happened. She was sent away to a place where they were supposed to "help" the patients, but they never really cured her. Years passed and she finally escaped her depression which many people thought impossible. Somedays it returns for a time, but for the most part she is living a happy life.

Well until she turned fourteen when something terrible happened. She has barley told anyone and doesn't plan on it. All these things have effected her in many different ways. Some have built her stronger when the others have destroyed her at least for the time being.

Closed off about certain things, but is also open about others. He wants to help anyone he sees who is hurting. He has a deep side to him that few truly see. Many get glimpses but only a select few get to see the whole thing. His past has made him stronger and more caring, but also more closed off and broken. He's talented and knows how to have fun, but he also knows how to be chill. He can feel alone even when he's in a crowded room.
Biography:
Carter Locks lived a happy life for a time at home but it soon all faded away when his father became extremely ill. When his father did recover he was not the same. Carter was convinced though that his father would change back to his "normal" self, but he didn't his father was abusive and his mother had no idea what she could do. He couldn't live like that anymore and he gave up on his father. He decided to leave home. Life was hard but he knew he had to keep going he didn't exactly know how to live on his own.

He lived on the streets begging for money, wishing he had someone in his life that he could talk to, and the feelings of loneliness almost drove him insane. He remembers nights of laying in alleys and people jumping him taking whatever money he had left. The things that had happened in his life made him a better person, and he learned how to care for others before himself.

While living on the streets he made a friend. He was the best and his name was Hector. They were the best of friends. Hector's parents however would not approve of him having a friend like Carter, but Hector refused to let him go. He would sneak food and other supplies to him when no one was looking. Hector was probably the only way Carter was able to survive. One night they were walking down the road when they took the wrong turn and went through the bad part of town. They both were attempting to find their way home when all of a sudden a gun was held up to Carter. The man holding the gun was the man Carter owed money to. The man looked drunk and insane. He fired the gun and Hector pushed Carter out of the way. Hector was shot! his almost dead body laid on the ground. The man saw what he did and fled. Carter fell to the ground trying to save Hector, but as he bled Hector said "Thanks for showing me an adventure. I don't regret meeting you," he took his last breath and his heart stopped. Carter was never the same after that.

He left town after Hector's funeral which he was unable to attend. He traveled a long way to the next and tried to live his life. Many nights he couldn't sleep and he would wake up in his own sweat. He got into lots of trouble in this new town. He met a girl that he nearly fell in love with, but he knew he could never provide for her. He left town again. He somehow has made it decently onto his own two feet and is just trying to live life one day at a time. He continue to go to school to further his education, but still struggles to make it there somedays

The pain in his life made him who he is today. He has his issues but when he finds someone he feels a connection to it's hard for him to let go. His caring heart is a strong part of him he rather take care of someone else before taking care of himself. He feels alone even when he is in a crowded room. Maybe it's because he feels as if no one will ever understand what he's been through. The problem with him always thinking of others is that he almost never thinks of himself and it can be terrible at times for him.

Biography -
Quinn was born out of wedlock between two people not ready to have kids. His father was a kid in university studying buisness, wanting to make his family richer and happier. His mother was apart of a traditional family. She was to stay at home and tend to the family around her. When they met they dated for a while before splitting up only to get back together after she found out she was pregnant. She couldn't and didn't want to get rid of the baby so they had it in secret only she died during the birth after an unseen problem during pregnancy.

The father was gifted with a son whom he'd care for over the next 14 years. During those ten years he'd learn to be a good kid and he'd gain interest in art and music. He enjoyed the time he had with his father but of course it couldn't last.

Cancer got him. The father was diagnosed with leukaemia when he was 35 years old. He didn't want to get treatment for it as he didn't want to put his son in debt for the rest of his life. Quinn recognised this and understood what it meant for him. He'd be an orphan.

His father died 10 months later with a smile on his face, knowing he'd raised a good boy and that his brother would turn him into an amazing man.

He grieved and recieved counciling for a few months before it dawned on him that this wouldn't be what his father wanted. He knew now that life was short so we had to enjoy it and make a difference to others. He started making music. When he was younger he just did covers of stuff on his guitar but now he was writing and recording music. He'd lost a lot of friends over the last 2-3 years but he soon found better ones. When he was 16 he became apart of a band with his cousin on drums and two of his friends on lead guitar and bass guitar. They began performing all over the state. They hadn't received their big break yet but they knew it would happen soon. Until then they'd continue to be awesome

Personality

Valentina flaunts the whole 'tough girl' esque like no one's business. She refuses to show weakness easily, afraid she'll lose respect of others or just grant others to walk all over her. She's honestly just a complex gal that has problems with expressing her emotions in a healthy way.

She's rather outgoing in a social setting, cracking inappropriate jokes or teasing others. However, shes ready to snap back at you with her bluntness and call you out if you cross that line.
That in mind, she's rather stubborn, so which leads to being opinionated. Mention something negatively political to her? Something about immigrants? Equality? ETC? Be prepared for this gal to stand her ground and defend her beliefs. She will not stand for any sort of prejudice of herself and others.

Despite how she acts, she deeply values education and wishes to pursue it further. She yearns to learn and wants to help her family with it all. If you're disrupting a class she's in, she'll happily - and wittingly - call you out. Valentina just loves calling others out, coming off as a bitch to the victim - usually preps, jocks, "bad" kids.

With that being said, she's not liked by many.. Well, people that can't handle her bluntness or what they need to hear.

Under that temper and 'toughness', she bottles in everything that frightens, worries, and/or saddens her. As said, she refuses to tell people about it, leading her to suffer by herself. She wants to keep up that 'I'm an independent woman and need no one to help me' vibe.
She needs to learn that asking for help is an OK thing to do and that she doesn't need to cry alone

Valentina is a Dreamer that came from Tepic, Nayarit (Mexico), near the Drug Cartel and family even having relations with them. Fearful and wanting a better life for them and their children, they fled to America. 5 years old, her and her family walked miles upon miles, braved rivers, went without food and water for periods of time, and hid.. They had successfully entered the US illegally.

Despite the horrible obstacles, they were awed and thankful to be in America.
They lived with her Aunt and their parents began juggling multiple jobs while under radar. Later on, they got a somewhat stable job and began to move around.. Her parents attempted to try for citizenship, but still in the process to this day.

Valentinas family finally decided to settle down at Westbrook when she was 11. At that time, she had two siblings and the final child would be born when she was 14.
Valentina was quite shy her first day of school.. but was quickly accepted! However, her family wasn't entirely accepted.. It wasn't rather put out there, but reserved. Neighbors were rather friendly to them though and loved having them as hosts. They gained some friends and some people who just wanted to snoop.

Valentina didn't really face any sort of prejudice until she was in 7th grade. It wasn't too terrible in Westbrook, but it is a rather small town, which comes with some small-minded 'beliefs'. The ignorance only seemed to elevate once the 2016 election rolled around.

Regardess, she kept her professional dancing dream alive.

Relation with Hannah: Hannah was one of her first friends when moving here. They were best friends up till 8th grade and she had no idea why Hannah had begun ignoring her, but it broke her heart.
