Fantasy Paragons

Oh don't stop asking questions, just, y'know, one at a time like I said. My goodness my people, listen to your gm, eh. I want this rp to begin as much as everyone else.

Oh my...this has truly blown my mind open. I do not know why I haven't used anything like this for my stories...I would have had a much easier time writing them.

I would love to partake in the merriment~!

I must know @Enkerzed is there a preferred Age requirement when a certain someone wants to become an Apprentice? 030 If so what is the lowest age one can apply. I developed an Youth Prodigy Apprentice character just for another option, but I couldn't tell his age.

Bit sick dudes. Need to sleep it off. I'll write a more detailed answer later, @Cloud Nagasake, but for now I'll just say that there is no age limit for becoming an apprentice and people do not 'apply' to be a Paragon, they are chosen by one.

Still got a bit of a headache, but at least my fever's gone away. Will try to write on the beastfolk tomorrow peeps. After that, it'll be the humans, dwarves and halflings of Nors, then after that, character sheet time. Get excited, ja.

And it is done, for the beastfolk anyway. I'm a also add some other things I might tack onto the lore later...

  • People of Mana are called 'Mani' (man-eye or mun-eye)
  • People of Yolta are called 'Yoltan' or 'Yoltish' (just say it how it looks)
  • People of Vaim are called 'Vaimese' (same)
  • People of Nors are called 'Norsian' (nor-see-an)
  • Compared to other races and nations of Tirn, there is a disproportionate number of retired elven Paragons in Mana, who form their own group outside of the political machinations of their relatives, living as tutors of the mana and ki arts in their monasteries. It is from these retirees that the most number of apprentices are taken in and sent to the wall, so basically the elves are the most numerous race among the Paragons, at least when it comes to mana users and specialists. People from other nations will often travel to Mana in search of these retirees for the chance to become Paragons, though whether they actually do is of course another matter altogether. If you wanna say how your character became a Paragon, well there you have it.
  • Just as Paragon veterans can retire at anytime they want, retirees may also return whenever they wish. In fact, particularly long lived Paragons are known to come and go as they please, but no matter what, they are still expected to follow the ironclad rule concerning the entire land of Tirn: a Paragon must never interfere. Those who do, even as retirees, will no longer be allowed entry to the wall or the use of their crests, so anyone who decides to involve themselves in politics and war or whatever are basically excommunicated.

So, uh... no one's asking any questions anymore?

I'd like to see the story making finished so I'm not gonna bother you with questions haha

@Shmivian Fair enough, but without other people bringing certain things up, I will forget or just plain not take them into consideration come time for the rp to kick off. So if anyone has any questions, please do ask because they really help a lot. Although I suppose it would be a good idea to wait until after I finish laying things out, or maybe after I have the cs set up. Actually yeah, let's do that. Soon as I'm done writing about the races and have a cs ready for you all, I'll leave a bit of time for q & a before writing on more stuff, like more detailed info on ki and mana abilities, enchantments, the Paragons, history of the wall, the land of Tirn and its many different races, y'know, boring world building stuff that I could probably work on as we rp.

But, ah, this right now with the writing on humans, dwarves and halflings... yeah, this might take a while. So how's about we share some pictures and ideas we got planned for our charries while we wait? For now, I've got these two lined up as keepers:

And these two as a Veteran and Paragon team respectively:

Also, bit of a retcon, I'm going to make it so that not all crests have to look alike, but all Paragons do have to make or provide their own. They don't have to do the enchantments, they just need to have something unique for the enchanters to identify them with their owners, something that's undeniably theirs. So this'll pretty much mean that every crest is personalized and hopefully that'll give you some more freedom when it comes to choosing pics for your charries.

Also also, the rp will mainly revolve around the Paragons of a single tower (name pending), so there can only be two keepers and I've already called dibs on both. BUT, and here's a bit of a spoiler, let's just say that a vacancy will open up later down the track. For now however, count out keepers when you're deciding what kind of Paragon you wanna make. A reminder, it's goes Apprentice > Paragon > Veteran > Keeper.

I have a rather curious question, would it not be easier to throw this into a Hosted Project as time comes? It's very expansive (Which is awesome, totes.) Just a minor thought I've had on my mind for a little while now.

@Dapper Bunny Honestly, I haven't looked into this Hosted Project thing very much ever since it replaced the old system. I like the old system better, but yes, I suppose it would be easier. Might take a bit more time for me to wrap my head around all the features though, so... vote? Vote.

... But I can't seem to poll. Oh well, like this post if you want Paragons to be a hosted project rp. Don't if you don't.

a hosted project would be much easier

i rlly like the concept of ki ^.^

Hosted project! Hosted project!

*chanting in the background increases in volume as the hype intensifies*

yeah I think a hosted project would be easier. You could get someone to maybe make it for you and help you if you really need to.

And so the people hath spoken... I suppose. Not exactly a majority vote, but making this rp a hosted project does seem to be a good idea. Might take a while to learn about all dem features though. Well anyways, hosted project it is.

Now... you're all either going to hate or love this new idea, but I just had a thought... About another order of badass warriors... In the world of this rp. They're simply called Knights (or the 'Knights of Tirn' as their full name goes) and they're just like the Paragons except for one key difference. While the Paragons strictly avoid interfering in politics and the goings on in the land of Tirn, the Knights are all about that shit and are basically like the Jedi of the rp, going around the four nations as peacekeepers and watching out for the misuse of ki and mana. Anyone who uses ki or mana to stir up trouble are known as 'Renegades' (who are to the Knights as the Sith are to the Jedi) and as soon as the Knights hear tell about them, they go out and shut that shit down right quick. Sometimes, they also deal with conflicts (petty or otherwise), banditry, wild animal problems (dragons, wolves, etc.) and even monsters from Beyond that manage to get past the Wall. They also have a bit of a rivalry with the Paragons, though generally they try to stay out of each others' way.

So, uh, I don't actually want to run 2 rp's set in the same world at once. Kinda wanna stay focused on Paragons, kinda wished I never thought of this idea in the first place, but when I make the hosted project, there's probably going to be a thread for the Paragons and another for the Knights of Tirn, and basically I'm a want a co-gm to run it. Well, that's if I go through with the idea that is. Probably gonna have to change the name of the rp too. Anyways, what do y'all think?

Oh my tears, this rp's getting too big.

Ooh that is a very interesting idea, would even make conflict, if the Knights think the Paragons inaction are basically at par with the Renegades..

But yeah, that does make it even bigger if there is gonna be two groups, I'd say it depends on how many we are? Wouldn't want either side to be sparse on roleplayers, but apart from that, if there is someone who'd be a good co-gm, it could be a really neat thing. I'm personally okay with having them or not, I'd say first focus on understanding the Hosted Project and set that up before going with all the cool ideas.

Sound advice. Well, time to get acquainted with this hosted projects thing... oh wait, I still gotta finish writing about races. Ok, I'm a do that first, then the character sheet, THEN setting up the hosted- oh yeah, that's right. The Q&A thing... and THEN setting up the hosted project and learning how to use it, and then setting out ALL the lore and then... oh boy, we'll be waiting quite a while before this rp can even begin ladies and gentlemen. Please, bear with me for about a month or two, because I think that's about how long it'll take to get everything in order.

We can always make a discord and chat with excitement without spamming the forum, I can set that up real quick and maybe we can even give some ideas to lighten your workload. Just an idea :3
