Haiku Hitman
"H-honored my behind." muttered Moss, gripping the back of Isa's jacket, and taking a deep breath. He won't admit it out loud to this joker, but that drift was cool.
He was intrigued with Isa's mastery of the machine, playing around with the heavy thing like it was a toy, and very comfortable with it too. He was amused to learn that he was a bit of a show off with it, that or he was relaxed enough with Moss to be joking around with him. That made Moss relax too, the realization sinking in that he had meant what he said when he told Moss he wouldn't judge him. And that put Moss in a playful mood.
By dusk, he had grown more used to Isa's daredevil speeds, and his grip around his waist loosened, as he settled for watching for danger and enjoying the view. They made camp next to a river under the shelter of a sparse grove of trees in the plains, and after cooking dinner, which involved slipping the crushed juice of mahonia berries into his tea which turned the red-head's teeth red if he drank it, Moss took the early night and early morning watch, perching high on of the trees and surveying the land as Isa slept.
The next morning hot soup and a wet and bruised Moss who had a bandaged gash on his leg greeted Isa. There was a dead red scaled, spiky blue, clawed and finned Barneclaw the size of a cow at the bank of the river. It was cut open, some of its meat and bones smoking and drying over a bed of coals.
"You wouldn't believe what happened." Moss had told him. "I was fishing with my spear up stream when I hit something I thought was ice, but it was the horn of this Barneclaw! And it bit me!"
Needless to say, they had a lot of food to spare after this hunt. Moss cast a frost spell that encased chunks of cut meat in crystal ice that didn't melt, preserving the freshness of the food for a long time, and he stowed as much as he could carry in his backpack.
Their travels went along like this. Moss would take second watch and let Isa sleep first if the red-head wanted. And in the morning there was always hot soup waiting for Isa. Moss had collected the Barneclaw's bones in a bag. He'd boil them into soup at four in the morning, and then bury the bones when he was done with them. He would practice his spearmanship and dagger work while the bones boiled. And when they weren't in a hurry to break camp the next day, Moss would go swimming in the nearest river or pond for a while, just reveling in the water.
Some nights when he would see that Isa wasn't so tired from driving, he'd sit and ask him about Smoky, jotting down notes in a notebook that had drawings and calculations for a machine, cooking recipes, and what seemed to be Moss' traveling journal.
They left the greens of the Forbidden forest, and entered the freezing cold of Icecrown Glacier. The roar of the motorcycle scared or attracted monsters, giants, and the gaping bandit who stared at the mechanical contraption, but they could never catch it no matter how hard they ran.
Now it was the fourth day of their journey and a dense fog had rolled in from the Windshear Mountain to their east. They had come at last to the foot of the perilous mountain range, but not quite where they had planned to go. They seemed to be . . . lost. Lost inside a ravine where two stone columns carved like wings and engraved in curving symbols and ancient runes stood like a gate to a large ruined city that lay beyond.
What would Isa like to do?
Isa and Moss have "Exhaustion I". They are "Slowed", where in battle, they can only travel up to 1 area at a time. And have only one action, either Minor or Major, but not both. Their travel speed on the world map is halved.
Cure: 1 hour short rest OR 1 ration
So, for this, feel free to world build and add stuff so that there'll will be something in the area that interests you. So I decide the terrain and size (and wealth for settlements), while players can add historical buildings or monuments, specialty goods, sights and scenery, area threats, enigmatic happenings, mysterious artifacts, etc.
