History: Lana was born in Sweden, and given to an orphanage when she was a baby. She had been told that her parents had been teenagers, and unable to care for the baby they had created, so gave her to the orphanage to give her her best chance. Determined to make something out of her life, Lana studied hard, hoping to one day move away from Sweden and somewhere far away. When she reached college age, she was accepted into an American University as part of an exchange programme.

Mat may look like an intimidating man, but all he wants to do is protect the ones he loves. You would never expect it from the usually reserved and soft-tempered guy. One thing is for sure, you never want to get on his bad side. He is straight to the point and surprisingly good at giving advice. When it's him that needs the advice, he is more likely to go for a walk out in nature and think about it, rather than talk to someone else. But as soon as anyone else is in danger he will not hesitate to pull out the knife on their attacker. Here’s a little secret. If you push the right buttons you might get a little joke out of him.
History:
Matais was born in North Carolina, the place where his mom and dad had decided to settle after moving from France. 5 years later his little sister, Lottie, joined the family. He grew up in a loving home and a love for all things books. Fantasy, mystery, horror (that was his least favorite), action, you name it. He always enjoyed helping Lottie with her English homework. Now, he is a 22-year-old college student majoring in English for Secondary Education and hoping to pursue a Master's in Education. He works a side job in a cafe near his college and tries to get work any way he can. In his free time, not that he has much, he likes to take little adventures. Whether it's hiking in the woods, mountain biking, or any other adventure, he is ready for anything that comes his way.

Appearance: Amber cuts through a crowd thanks to her bright red hair, grumpy scowl and an analysing look in her eyes. As can be seen in the FC, her hair drops at about her shoulder level, an unkempt and messy mop of a style. Amber is an unkempt looking 23 year old, more focused on her actions than her own appearance. She is short but rather rounded in stature, a fact that she hates when it's brought up. Her hands are scarred from her work soldering and pulling apart electrical components, and are usually burnt in some way or another. The clothing she wears is mostly warmer and darker tones with long sleeves with little patterns or styles. Usually she is hearing a dark turtleneck or sweater with a bubble skirt and chequered leggings, leaning into a British punk aesthetic.

Persona

Personality: Amber is an introverted, dry and intelligent woman. She can handle people, but she prefers not to. Before long they say something that pisses her off or she says something that pisses them off. She has a deadpan way of talking that she doesn't realise isn't always appropriate. Analytical and clever, Amber knows a lot about electronics and mechanics, spending some of her teens taking apart computers and engines alike at her dad's store. She has a habit of over explaining and messing with others, giving them stunned looks when they say something she disagrees with, like she can't possibly fathom why someone would say such a thing. She also tends to by a little deadpan with explanations for her actions. 'Because I wanted to' is a common response.

History: Amber only recently moved to NC, having originally lived in Chicago. She recently finished a degree in Criminology and Digital Forensics at the University of North Carolina and fell in love with the state. She just finished her degree last year, and was looking into police academies and positions in the area when the whole apocalypse started and really pulled the rug out from under her. While she's poured herself into her applications, she's still been working as a mechanic in an auto shop in the area to make ends meet, just until she can get an application accepted. Ideally she would like to be in a forensics position but there's not much need for that anymore.

The main reason for this introverted woman to take a cross country trip across the USA is that she's never seen the ocean. And sure, it would be easy to catch a bus or train to the coast or head down to Florida and die with all the other sun worshippers in Disneyworld, but she feels she needs to do something that matters, even if that clashes with her whole personality. Something that means she can die content that she experienced something apart from working towards a goal she couldn't achieve. Her aim is to see the Pacific Ocean in Santa Monica.

Group Relations: Amber knows the group from mostly seeing them around campus or in various coffee shops. She's also probably the only person a lot of them know who could keep a minivan running smoothly for 2000+ miles.

  A chess player since diapers and a pragmatist since early childhood, Ansel is someone who one might call a straight-laced, serious type. Though his countenance isn't quite dour, the intelligent young man is very reserved and aloof, and he often has a somewhat standoffish air about him, in spite of his politeness -- the way he carries himself usually betrays his disinterest in conversation, even despite his best efforts. He is proud and somewhat arrogant, which is in an odd juxtaposition with his somewhat shy demeanor; he is far from outspoken, often lies to keep from displeasing others, and never wants to be the center of attention.
  
  Ansel is cautious and uptight. He is known for an almost disdain for the typical "fun" activities such as parties and nights out. He is paranoid and worrisome, very rarely allowing himself the chance of adventure. (Although, now that the world is ending, he's trying to come out of that.) He takes everything very seriously and often misunderstands others' words and intentions. Very judgmental and presumptuous, he tends to jump to conclusions before asking for more information.
  
  The young man is kind at heart, and he wants to make a difference in others' lives...though he's never really done anything that would do such a thing, instead too focused on preserving himself. Now, however, with the end near, he's resolved to force himself out of his shell.
  
  After all, this is his last chance to make an impact, and to live life, and to see the world; his days are numbered.

  Born in rural Eisenach, Thuringia, Germany, population 42,000, Hansel Müller grew up with a good life. The son of two veterinarians, Ansel was an only child, spoiled rotten. His family heavily emphasized maintaining their image, raising him to be reserved and quiet.
  
  The boy took an interest in the sport of chess at a very young age. He learned chess and tried to master the sport as much as possible. He played against others in his community and participated in tournaments. It was his dream as a young boy to be a professional chess player, though his dream morphed into a "more obtainable one" by the time he hit Hauptschule, where his goal became to be a veterinarian like his parents, though he did continue to play chess. Throughout his schooling, Ansel displayed remarkable intellect, earning high marks and great reports. He was somewhat of a teacher's pet, often the class favorite, which didn't quite make him popular with his classmates.

  After completing Gymnasium, Ansel, fluent in both German and English, came to America in order to get his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at a university in North Carolina. It was quite the adjustment, and he still isn't quite adapted to the American way of life. He joined his university's chess club as an attempt to get himself more integrated, but his aversion to going to parties or really associating with his classmates outside of situations where he had to left him to mostly remain like a fish out of water.
  
  As part of his degree, he has to work as a veterinarian's assistant for some time, and so he is currently working part-time as a veterinarian's assistant.
  
  He hasn't lived life. That's why he wants to go on this trip: he's never really lived. He's kept himself pigeon-holed, too afraid of dying, but now that he knows that he's going to die anyway, he's going to make his best attempt at casting aside his reservations and "living a little".

  Adrian Lance didn’t have the best life before he heard the world was ending. His partner, Nova, had some problems, but he knew they were a good person. Nova had a problem with drinking, some anger issues. Occasionally, they would force him into things he didn’t want to do. But he knew they loved him. He knew. Why else would they help him pay for his degree, let him stay at their apartment? It was worth a little pain, a few scars.
  
  But it didn’t last forever. Adrian wasn’t sure what he did, but Nova broke up with him almost a week before there was news of the world ending. Adrian was heartbroken. He knew he did something wrong, that he displeased them somehow. He ended up in the hospital that night, having his stomach pumped to get the painkillers out of his system. And he recovered. Grew quieter, covered up. He was different, but he was better. And of course the actually world had to end, because he could never really be happy.
  
  Group Relations:
  As part of rehab and therapy, he had to meet new people, get out of the house. He’s seen them around, but he doesn’t know them very well.
