Dreams disappear when the dreamer wakes.
It was a beautiful day in the Kalos Region: the sky above was a bright blue, puffy white clouds dotted the sky, the sun was beaming but not too harshly, and a gentle breeze blew across Aquacorde Town. Standing on the bridge that connected the small town to Route 2 stood a young boy. His arms rested on the bridge's railing as he stared into the crystal clear water below. Within the river he watched as a myriad of fish like Pokémon happily swam about. Curled up on the ground beside him rested a Shinx whose chest expanded and collapsed as it napped. It was moments like this that John truly felt at peace. No obligations or awkward conversations, just him and his Pokémon enjoying a peaceful morning.
He could stand here for hours soaking up all the natural beauty Kalos had; which was something it had plenty of. Maybe just a few more minu- "Hey John are you listening!" The sudden shout of his name nearly caused the boy to jump out of his skin. Even poor Sif was startled as the cub groggily lifted his head. Glancing over his shoulder he spotted the familiar faces of two red-haired girls standing only a few feet away from him. John was so lost in thought that he hadn't even noticed his sisters had finished their little shopping run. How long had they even been standing? "S-Sorry Devola. I didn't even notice the two of comeback." He responded to the girl with messier hair.
"Mhmm." Was the only thing Devola muttered back to her older brother.
"Devola there's no reason to shout. There are people around"." The other girl, Popola, stated.
John watched as the older twin once again responded with a simple shrug of her shoulders. "Right... Anyways I take it the two of you are stocked up on supplies?" He asked his younger siblings who both answered with a nod of their head.
"Are you sure you don't want to come along John? It would make things a whole lot easier with the the three of us looking into this regions mythology." Popola commented.
"No I'm good Popola. Every time mom sends us to a new region to help with her research it's always to work. For once I'd like take it slow. Enjoy myself as it were." John responded with a small smile.
"More like have us do all the heavy lifting." Devola huffed. She then turned to her younger sister and nodded her head in the direction of Route 2. "Come on sis it's time for us to get going. And John... try not to get yourself killed" Without a response from either of the two Devola spun around on her heels and walked off ahead.
"Of course." Before leaving herself, Popola crouched down and gently petted the Sif's head. "You two take care of each other ok!"
"Don't worry Popola the two of us will be fine. Be safe on youre journey as well ok." John quickly embraced his youngest sister and a few moments later the two pulled apart and John watched as Popola darted her way over to Devola. "I hope those two will stay out of trouble." John sighed. "Shinx!" Sif offered a reassuring bark. "Well it looks like it's just the two of us now. There's no need for us to rush anywhere." John commented as he perched himself back onto the bridges railing.
