The Alean Galaxy. 31,63,0401.
Long ago, the Galaxy resided in a peaceful golden age of intergalactic empires. The most numerous empires were those of the humans, dwarves, and orcs. However, this golden age wasn't made to last forever. With the empires of reason and logic came those who believed in spirituality. The grand theocracy's of the Elves, Dark Elves and Insectans declared war on those who didn't worship their gods, or didn't worship at all.
The dwarven empires dwindled down to two rival empires. The Iron Mountain Worlds and the Golden Mountain Worlds. Humanity was pushed all the way to the farthest corner of the galaxy. The orcs had a chance, theirs was the largest empire, however, their empire was torn between civil war.
All seemed lost, humanity was out of luck, the orcs had lost hope, the dwarves were near extinction but they remained stubborn little bastards.
However, deep within the oceans of the human worlds, an ancient race of wise beings had awoken. These beings looked like tentacled and multi-mouthed monstrosities, but they meant no harm unless threatened. However, one of these beings was human in shape. This being seemed to be the leader of the strange ancient race, his name was Oa'di'nous. Odin in human tongue.
Odin had a fatherly love for the humans. He'd care for, nurture, and rule them while punishing but correcting those who commit to misdeeds. Odin had restored the human empires, and even saved the two dwarven empires from fighting each other. Odin had given humanity the Sight of the Eldritch Truth, seeing into the future and seeing the outcomes of certain actions and seeing all knowledge that can be. Every human had replaced their eyes with arcane-mechanized ones, the more "eyes" you have the more wisdom and Eldritch knowledge you'll be able to see. With their new formed empires, humanity struck back against the grand theocracy's. The insectan empire was diminished into the smallest center of the galaxy, the dark elves were deceived into worshipping an anomaly that only certain humans could see correctly, the Jermanian Black Sun, and this made the elves turn against the dark elves for heresy against the elven gods. Human lifespan expanded to a minimum of five-hundred years, and a maximum of one-thousand years.
A new golden age had started. Humanities empires united under the banner of the Great Union of Humankind. A hierarchy was formed to replace the old governments. A hierarchy of immortal, but not invincible, Arch's was created. At the top was the greatest Hierarch Odin. Below him were the Matriarch and the Patriarch, the best all seeing ones in the entire union. Both genders see different things that only that gender can allow them to see, according to the Eldritch Truth. Below them were the Monarch's, those in charge of government in the union. Each Monarch isn't allowed to have a spouse or a family of their own, so they can focus on the benefits of the Union. Below them are the Primarchs, super-human soldiers who are the lord generals of the Union's army, the Franzguard Brigade. Although the provinces, once-empires, had their own unique regiments and uniforms and tactics.
This golden age, like the other one, wasn't going to last either. Within a province called the Lostlandium, two of the three princes of Monarch Merrin Rivlium, queen of the Lostlandium, had been corrupted. Kharin Rivlium had let his lust and blood lust control him, becoming a Vampire. Corrupting his nation of followers as well, creating the Blood Courts. Mardicain had let his battle lust and evil intent control him, becoming the first Demon. Like Kharin, he corrupted his nation of followers, forming the Horned Monarchs.
Their hordes had destroyed and displaced countless human planets in the Lostlandium. Most of the newly formed Lostlandium nations had forgotten about the Great Union, thus it's no longer an official province of the Union. The technology of the Lostlandium had strayed from the Union standard, they started lacking in all seeing ones. Soon enough, they created their own culture and technology. Their eyes would still be arcane-mechanical, but it wasn't the amount of eyes they had that would represent status, it was the color. Their technology had taken a different path, (for lack of a better description, their tech looks like the Grineer tech from Warframe). Most of their soldiers have been killed by the demons and vampires, however, a few chapters of elite knights were formed.
The most notable, benevolent, and respected chapter of knights is Reon's Glory Riders. A chapter of knights formed by the last loyal prince, prince Reon Rivlium, a chapter of knights determined to vanquish the demons and vampires, and defend humanity.
But it's not just a couple chapters of knights fighting the hordes of evil, an organized/well-funded & supplied militia that lost count of how many soldiers it had stands as the front line against the forces of evil. The knights tend to dislike the militia, although the militia is more militarized and has lost count of how many soldiers it has, for the fact that it's inexperienced citizens thinking they can take on bloodthirsty demons and vampires.
The orcs then betrayed the humans and dwarves. It wasn't the choice of the orc people, but the corrupt government. Their leaders either despised humans or sought to enslave humans. With their brutal army, they stood a chance against the arcane might of humans.
However, many of you think the orcs are mindless, warring brutes. You are horribly wrong, the elves are the war-mongering zealot brutes. The elves barely negotiate, and they mostly put a lot of time into war efforts than anything else. The dark elves are similar in that they're more warring, but they tend to be more peaceful than the elves. Some who've lived in or were held prisoner in the dark elven planets have said that the dark elves secretly admire humanity, but those are just rumors. The insectans were the top in arcane, but now that title belongs to the humans. The insectans are also torn apart by countless mafia's and gangs.
The galaxy is trapped in endless war, where will you be when that war comes to your doorstep?
