that was weird. I don't think anyone was expecting a store to go out in flames from Kali's desire to get herself a flute.

That was for story purposes, to show how cursed the world is. He was a former adventurer who survived the culling. He casted contingency on the flute and the condition was whether or not he could be moved emotionally by another person's song, like the long lost queen. Balls in your court what you do with royal artifact.
You get an unidentified ooze in a glass jar.

Lmao Io is pissed that he almost died for some slime but he also won't be able to sleep until he knows what it is

Do I need to roll anything?
You're in one of the safest places in the kingdom, so no. However, that's only if you stay in the book section of the library. If you catch my drift.
I think Dancy was just looking to hear something positive about her race. Maybe to learn that there are actually changeling settlements or a book on famous Changelings.
It probably would have been better to look for a changeling lol, but I'll think of something for your next response. I have a few ideas.

Do you know how hard it is to find a Changeling?

Zotar Zotar you might wanna investigate that book. There might be something, unusual about it. Perhaps not. Mister reader boi. :3

pbtenchi pbtenchi at any rate, jokes aside, you may not find what you were looking for here. But you will get some sort of lead with your next post

I keep forgetting Dancy is lawful. I was just considering kicking the old man in the knees, grabbing the book on the Origins of Changelings and sprinting for it.

I mean people can change. As long as you tell me and why, i usually will allow it. But not in this instance mister.

Also i just looked up changelings. Now i have a really good idea. However fuck. Dopplegangers somehow fused with humans without leaving a hag like baby behind. And real changelibg faces are like picasso paintings that are blurred lol

Anyways youll find what you seek in that book, sort of.

Also its good thing you didnt kick him lol

Ill add that roll to my existing post

Edit: A mediocre roll to match what was already written :😒
Lol in my next gm post, ill say you had a tickle feeling something was off and decided to just take a look around. However i have work in 3 min. Ill have a post up around 8 pm pst

So out of idle curiosity whilst I fail to fall asleep, what’s are some of the best characters you played in a role playing game?

My personal favourites
Glorius Maximus (misspelling deliberate), my egomaniac human commoner who unexpectedly managed to become king. All the players and the DM told me I would never play a better character...

Pancake
Ogre Wizard. Punched people with touch spells. Had a personality a little like a smarter Patrick Star from Spongebob. Had a dodo familiar named Maple.

These were both from Pathfinder games in case you wondered how I played an Ogre and a Commoner.

The one I'm playing is my favorite.

I have a few notables.

I enjoyed playing as Lyt, Pale Zephyr, envoy of the nation of the Cloud Elves. But the most I ever managed with him was a crossover event when he faced Tifa from Final Fantasy 7, and put up a good fight. *shrug* Just a bit of fun over at a now defunct Fandom Forum. In another setting over in the Valucre Roleplay forum, I had him fight some overpowered guy. He lost that fight in a most epic manner. He now rests frozen in a great snowflake on the grounds of an eldritch library that vanishes only to emerge every 13 years.

I shudder to mention my most accomplished character in D&D 5e: Yohan Maccabbee, a Paladin who accidentally ended up running a Rogue's guild, which was only the beginning of the craziness. One time he got drunk and sired powerful half-elves in Feynwild. Later he took his wife with him to visit another of the Outer Plains, and conceived with her there. His poor wife promptly gave birth to a Septuplet of demi-goddesses. Oy. That wasn't the funnest thing to end up managing, The DM's dice really hated me, and the DM loved messing with me. I'm glad that campaign is over. >.<

I'm pretty sure my best character and character arc are yet to come.

I'd say my absolute favorite is Ruin Cinderplume, a fire genasi artificer that I made last week after my first character died in the Tomb of Annihilation game I'm playing in. The party found him when they helped a group of albino dwarves retake their keep after fire newts invaded and drove everyone out.

He is a philosopher obsessed with finding the answer to the question "what is destruction?" so he left his worktable behind to practice destructive magic and study the fire newts. When he found the dwarven vault, he tried to pick the lock and got stranded on the wrong side of a retracting bridge. He is extremely talkative to the point of never shutting up, and uses a holo-projection gauntlet to cast his spells.

Edit: also, he's an Artillerist of course

Io has a decent Arcana skill but I don't think a knowledge check would result in more than a basic understanding like "yep this flute is magic"
