Hey, there! I've been itching for a roleplay for a little bit now, all in an original setting with new characters and terms etc. Playing Bravely Default has put me in the mood for an FF type RP (even though I'm only halfway through the game RIP). But, I want this RP to come with a twist; rather than focus on Warriors of the Light and their journey to cleanse the world from darkness, I figured flipping it would be just as interesting. I have more ideas fluttering about in my head that I can discuss in PM, so hit me up if you're interested!
I'm 19, in my first year of university doing English with Creative Writing, and I work part-time at the weekends. At the moment, I am free from university, but in less than two weeks or so I will be going away for a week, so that's my only expected long haitus to occur. If I disappear otherwise, prod me with a stick and I'll try and get back to you when I can!
I've been roleplaying for nearly six years, and I prefer paragraphs of detail. It doesn't have to be anything super long and fancy, just nice descriptions of what's going on around your characters and helps progress things along! I can match what you're comfortable writing at, so let me know what your own preferences are and we can discuss. I prefer writing in third person also. OCs are and character sheets are even better. I tend to make fresh ones for RPs, and again, we can discuss the level of detail we can go into for them! We can either double up, or we can have just two main characters (with an array of NPCs), and I'm open to MxM, MxF, and FxF (though I'm a little inexperienced in the latter.)
As I said, I have ideas for this world in my head, but I'd love to worldbuild and brainstorm with you! It makes the experience better if both of us work together on this type of world and what it holds.
I'm not sure if I'll accept loads of partners on this RP but we'll see how the interest check goes!
- Conversation. We don't have to talk OOC all the time, but it's nice to have a little conversation sometimes too! Plus, if we're going to talk about plot/characters, it would sort of be necessary.
- Brainstorming. I understand we can't have great ideas all the time (I certainly don't) but it helps to throw in things to come up with something. If you disagree with me on anything, just say too!
- Understanding. I want there to be an understanding between us. If there is anything you're not comfortable with, say. If you feel the RP needs spicing up, say. If you don't ask, I won't be able to help out!
- Strictly no Mary Sues. Sort of obvious. I like characters with flaws. Characters who don't always see eye-to-eye with mine. People aren't perfect.
- Manners. Also obvious. Please respect me and I'll respect you too! We're here to have fun and I don't want to fight or have an argument over any disagreements and such.
- If you feel the RP isn't for you or you're finding you're not enjoying it as much anymore, let me know, and we can work through it or you can leave the RP if you wish. I don't bite!
The Four Crystals and their presence in the world of Atruro has been a myth debated upon heavily for thousands of years. Many say they created this world; its seas, its life, its natural resources. Others claim the gods of the universe gifted the world with these Crystals to keep the balance of life in check. Others say the magic of old and powerful beings not unlike humans created the Crystals and have remained here ever since…
Such Crystals were created not only for the balance of all life and nature in Atruro but for the balance of the forces of light and dark. One cannot live without the other if perfect harmony were to be achieved. Too much light, and it would burn the existence of Atruro, too much darkness, and it would threaten to engulf the world whole.
For centuries, mortals worshipped the Crystals, cared for them and revered them like they were the gods themselves. When their powers spiralled out of control, when malevolent forces took over and threatened both the Crystals’ existence and the world’s, the people cowered in fear, lamenting of the end of days. All hope was not lost, as the Crystals divided their powers amongst a group of individuals tasked with their purging. These souls would be regarded as the Champions of the Crystals, who would go on to cleanse the Crystals and keep the balance of light and darkness. Stories of such heroes have been passed along generations and nations, heralding the efforts of these brave souls for their actions.
Most stories regard the felling of darkness. Very few records detail the efforts of those quelling the light. As only such stories of prophesised ‘Warriors of the Light’ remain, ‘Warriors of the Darkness’ strikes fear into the core of all hearts, seen only as a bad omen, the malevolent forces wishing to snuff out the light…
Fast-forward to the present day. Nations have risen and prospered. Technology has come a long way, science has developed vastly, all thanks to the Crystals and their gifts upon the world. But the humans’ desires for power, for knowledge, for greed, are draining the Crystals of their power, forcing an imbalance of light and darkness to occur. Though the world seems to be in perfect harmony, the light gives a false sense of security. It swells, it grows ever brighter…a symbol of the danger to come that many do not register.
But the Crystals call upon their chosen souls once more. Not to keep the darkness at bay, but the light that threatens all in this world. The Warriors of Darkness will be called upon once again.
This is their story.
