Any of those could work really. Honestly though, how about a French word? He doesn't speak it, but he sure as heck would be mesmerized by it. Or!!! Or she could say a different French word each time perhaps? And that would cause him to focus on the word and what it could mean and then remember that he is supposed to be focusing.
