~Ice Mountain

A wisp of breath came from Finn's numb lips as it swirled and turned to a cloud of white flowing into the freezing gale winds around him. The brutal howl and ice flakes stinging at every bit of his revealed face only increased his melancholy. The snaps and crackles of Finn's black cloak mimicked that of a whip as it pulled from his body with a heavy remorse. Finn's gaze slowly rose to that of the sky as the once blue sky of Ooo was covered in a tapestry of dark gray. With each breath came out a huff of smoke as he lifted his heavy hand with ice pick in hand. Slamming his right fist to the wall the pick cut deep into the Ice mountain as the ashen crackles split from the once solid mass and shrapnel of ice stingers splashed onto Finn's face.

The low flicker of Finn's dazed eyes squinted as he shielded himself from the blast. Lifting his right leg the metal padding over the knee scraped against the surface with a splitting screech of protest as he kicked his heavy greaves into the mountain taking hold into the its face. A split of ice and thunder sent a chunk of ice under his right foots holding tumbling down to the abyss below. Finn's eyes eyes flashed as his left arm reacted instinctively raising it higher and driving the ice pick into the mountain. As the white lightning bolts of the cracks surged from the ice picks placement Finn shifted his weight slightly as his left leg came up to gain his bearing.

"ffffffffffffffffiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn" the wind howled as it soared around him.

With a sudden torrent of air the gale exploded against his hanging body as it tore at his armor and cloth over him. Finn's teeth pressed fast against each other as he grit through the elemental punishment. His head shot up quickly as he could feel the handle of his right hands ice pick beginning to slowly slip from his clutch. Farther farther his hand slid his eyes opening wide in an explosion of emotion as the the feel of the straps of leather of the ice pick began to fade from his senses. With a sudden jerk Finn's body shot down with nothing to support his left body. His figure snapping to a stop as his left body caught his falling right side... dangling from only his left hand. Finn let out a small cry of pain and anger as he dangled high above the black void below him. The wind began to blow harder the feeling of ice touched the peach nose of Finn as he swung his right arm up towards the pick. His fingers just grazing the handle. With each movement Finn's breathing began to become heavier and heavier each expulsion of air added the white mist around him.

Once again he shifted shooting his arm higher up towards the hand his knuckles latching onto it Finn's muscles tensed up as he pulled his heavy body up back to its position. Finn kicked his greaves into the mountain once more as he pressed against the ice trying to gain some sort of rest from his wary climb. His chest heaving and his breath staining the mountain with a new set of moisture. Finn's eyes began to slowly rise as he could see the top of the summit.... The Lair of the Ice King. Finn would finally kill the man.... end this curse of Ooo.

Finn couldn't go on anymore not tonight... he had spent 2 days climbing this mountain one that had grown in the past 3 years to a giant titanous mount that reached towards the stars of Ooo. Things has changed in the world Finn used to play around in, defeating bad guys and being silly with his friends. This time he alone was making his way to the summit this time to change fate. Finn's mind began to become a frosted numbness as he thought of the days of old tainted by his memories. He let out a little sigh as he released the grip on his left hand reaching to his waist pouch he grabbed a scarlet crystal. The gem felt warm under his gauntlet as it sparkled with the light of a flame. A gift he had received from the ice princess in his quest to save Ooo. Taking the crystal in hand he pressed it into the mountain as a sudden flash of light blanketed the air around. Finn squinted through it as a man hole burned its way into the mountain. With a quick swing he landed into the tiny ice cave. Tucking his cloak around him he pressed the gem up to his heart as his eyes slowly fluttered with the weariness of sleep. Closing with the burden of heaviness Finn curled more into himself as he fell asleep.

  • His breaths began to huff as the haze of black hung on his vision. His hands placed across the cold floor of the lair. The tips of blonde hair dangling in the top of his vision. Finn's gaze shifted left and right as the black edges on his sight began to fade away.

His eye's shot up as he eyed the Ice king raised overhead as the sound of crystal snapping as it formed just out of the palm of his hand.

"FINN you have meddled with my affairs for the last time!"

    "hmph."

Finn huffed out in defiance as his toes dug into the ice floor he was laying on. His knees lowered as his body released from its coil. Shooting off the floor the sound of his greaves slicing into the floor with each step. The clamor of metal armaments against his clothes jiggled with each step. Their clamor echoed off the surfaces of ice in the lair as he sprinted ahead. The refracted off red light swirled onto the floor as the sword of blood stained the ice a blood red. The tip of enchanted steel from the blade scratched the floor with each lumber step swaying in the palm of the heroes hand.

The Ice King roared as his hand shot forward spears of clear ice launched forward descending upon the hero. The howl of ice slicing through the air permeated Finn's ears as his body became loose as he weaved between the volley of icicles. Each one flying past him with his deliberate movements that made it look so easy. Hundreds of tiny spikes piercing the area he had just been. The Ice King snapped in anger as he slammed both of his hands together. The air hissed and roared as a giant pillar of frozen water snapped into existence. With a loud cry from the frozen king the pillar flew down to the ground. Finn dug his heels quickly into the floor as he slid to a stop the giant pillar slamming right in front of him quaking the ground as the large cracks in the floor expanded snapping and flinging tiny ice shards into the air. Finn launched from the ground onto the pillar of ice and with another sudden movement took again to the air launching at the Ice King.

Raising his sword over his head in both hands like a sledge hammer he brought it down towards the Ice Kings head as he floated in front of him a look of surprise pasted onto his face. Finn gave out a little smile as his blade continued its final slash against his foe. The look of surprise on the Ice King suddenly changed to that of a devious splay of a churlish smile. As the expressions of the two switched a white mist swirled around the Ice Kings hand. As he rose it up to Finn's stomach a sudden snap and Finn's hands quickly went limp as the sword fell farther and farther to the floor as the blade hit the ice it as it danced its fallen doom as the rattle stained the halls of ice.

Finn's head slowly looked down in horror as a spear of ice held him in the air sticking against the wall the long side stalagmite skewered him in place.

The gentle taps of red trickled to the ground as the spear of ice spear let out a moan as it became completely solidified. Finn's head suddenly lurched back and shot forward as he sprayed the air with a blood mist that instant froze and fell to the ground like frozen rain drops.

The red jewels shattered as they hit the floor below. Finn gasped for air as each breath tasted metallic and wet as his body began to freeze on the inside.

    “I win... Finn.”

~Ice Mountain

“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” Finn screamed out a creeping of ice hands began to take hold of his body. The light flicker of the gem against his chest exploded out as the hands instantly melted as did half of the mountain. Finn stood in the crater on the side of the gigantic mountain his face filled with wrath and anger as the light steam mist speckled against his peach flesh. He quickly tucked the gem into his waist pouch.

“Finn, Finn!”

A small voice crackled through Finn's ear piece...

“What is it peppermint butler?”

“Princess Bubblegum has told me that the Ice Kings powers are reaching a cataclysmic state you must hurry.”

“getchagotcha.”

“She is heading to meet with the war council as we speak.”

[War Council Room Princess Bubblegum, Marceline, LSP, Lady Rainicorn, Flame Princess and Jake.]

“Don't worry I wont fail.”

“We can't be so sure about that... you must understand Finn.”

Grabbing the Ice picks on the ground and with furious determination took to the side of the mountain to make his way up to the top.

~Ice Kings Lair

“ICE KING!” Finn roared as he stepped through the lairs doorway. Each step into the hallow halls sounded off as Finn's eyes tunneled in on the inner cloister area where the frozen throne lay.

As Finn entered the large chamber a sudden chill raced onto the tips of his hair as his eyes locked on target.

“Why did you do it man?! You used to kidnap princess NOT KILL THEM!”

“Oh Gunter look who joined us its Finn.”

The Ice King and his robes of deep sapphire laid across his throne as he stroked the penguin whose blood had long since run cold.

“ANSWER ME!” Finn's hands clutched tightly as the leather of his gauntlets moaned with the same wrath as that filled Finn. No matter the answer Finn was going to kill the man in front of him. Hotdog princess... Breakfast princess... Slime princess... Strawberry princess... all dead. Finn couldn't save them he was always to late. His failure as a hero was something he would have to live with and the death of their murderer to sate his endless guilt.

“Do you know how much Energy a Princesses body has Finn! Oh my just talking about it tickles my icicles.”

“You're sick.”

“I take that as a compliment hoohoo.” He sneered as the yellows of his teeth stood out from his blue stained skin and snow white beard. His body began to move as it stood from the frozen chair. The ruffles on the frozen cloth almost snapped as the fell lazily down his body as he changed positions. The Ice king slowly turned as he placed the dead penguins body down onto the seat he was just on.

“I'll be back Gunter.”

“No you wont...”

The Ice King turned with a slight puzzlement on his face.

“Since when do heroes kill?”

“I'm no hero...”

“You are right! You haven't been able to save anyone yet! Oooh hoohoo isn't that just delicious!” He sneered again as his jagged teeth grinded against one another like nails on a chalk board causing Finn's head to violently shake in annoyance and rage.

“So... how do you wanna do this?”

“Killing someone HAH Finn once you get the taste for it, its easy.”

“I'll never like it.”

“Oh no... I think you will.” The ice king sneared as his hand sprung up firing ice arrows at Finn in an attempt to kill in a single move. Finn's left hand flicked out quickly as the palm opened a red glow exploded as the form of a sword flashed into existence. With quick swipes his blood sword took the ice arrows down with ease.

“That was just the appetizer. ITS TIME FOR THE MAIN COURSE!” Ice kings head lurched forward as sudden blast of air exploded from his mouth as the ice of the floor almost refroze again. Finn's arms quickly rose to his face as he blocked the blast with his forearms. As slamming of the violent win picked up his body and sent him rocketing back against the lairs wall with a violent and thunderous smack. Finn's body slammed face first to the ground as he lay unconscious.

Finn's breaths began to huff as the haze of black hung on his vision.

“Finn if you don't move your going to die oh so fast... Do not disappoint me~!”

Finn's eye flickered open as the black filter on his vision slowly evaporated as the lair became slowly visible. Finn shook his head back and forth as he forced his brain to snap back to life. Quickly kicking his feet from the ground he sprang forward like a cat slamming against the floor and sliding a large icicle stabbed where his body once was.

“ohhooo~” The Ice king rang out as he readied for another onslaught

Finn quickly took to his feet as he began to sprint around the caverns outer edge as a rain of ice followed close to his heel. Slicing and shattering against the ground behind him. Casting his gaze to the spot of the giant icicle Finn saw the low glow of his families sword laying next to the ice pillar. Making the full circle around the chamber with ice in toe Finn shot his legs out in a quick slide as he grabbed the handle of the blade then slamming his heels into the ground sending him launching back up to his feet as he turned to run straight at the Ice King.

“Oh hoho You make this to easy.” The Ice king almost laughed as another volley of hundreds of ice arrows shot forth at Finn now running head long into the King's aim with nowhere to go. Finn quickly reached into his pouch as he grabbed the crystal it exploded into a wave of flame melting all of the arrows as they disappeared into a cloud of steam. The Ice King let out a loud cry and hiss as the flame wave blew him back against the far wall.

Finn now stood over the fallen king the crown laying idle on the ground away from the Ice Kings fallen body.

“This ends now Ice King!”

“Finn WAIT!”

“What do you want?!”

“It was the crown Finn you know what its power does! I didn't mean to-”

As he spoke the ice king opened his mouth wider and wider as a gail of icy wind exploded out blasting Finn in a backwards roll away from him.

As Finn quickly sprang to his feet from the roll glaring at his prey letting out a cry of rage as the ice king reached for his crown on the ground away from him. His boney thin fingers scratching at the metal and jewels lusting after it. As the edges of his fingers touched it and scooped it up Finn was only a few feet away still running him down sword at the ready to pierce its target in a single movement.

The Ice King fumbled as he tried to place the crown atop his head as Finn's blood lust seeped into the cold veins of the king.

“EVERYTHING YOU LOVE WILL DIE ICE KING!”

Finn's sword cut through the air as it shot forward to stab through his blue body. As the Ice Kings mind flashed of the world he always wanted to be apart of... and his love Fionna. The Crown sparkled as a sudden burst of light and flash exploded out all across the world of Ooo staining the sky in pure white. The sudden surge of energy forced Finn's sword back as Finn tried to squint through the staining of white. The blast continued to radiate out as the shock wave snapped through the ice of the mountain. Finn exploded back from the epicenter of the crown as his body slammed against the far wall the force pining him against it as the white light continued to shine brighter and brighter. Finn felt as if his flesh would be torn from his muscles and his muscle from his bone. Then Suddenly it stopped as Finn slammed against the floor his eyes could see that of slender ankles wrapped in armor. As his eyes flickered trying to remove the dots on his vision he saw the flow of golden blonde hair. This was a girl standing in front of him a beautiful girl from what it looked like. Finn blinked a few more times as he tried to soak in this weird situation.

He could see another figure seated atop the throne a woman with hair white as snow skin as blue as the ice over a pond. A golden crown with red ruby's adorning it... not unlike the Ice Kings...

WAIT the Ice King Finn's eyes shot back to the man whose body lay where it was his golden crown now stained silver with its crystals a dead black.

What happened.....

"Simon, what have you done..." Marceline mumbled as she watched Peppermint Butler disconnect with Finn. The look on his little round face told her that he didn't believe things were going the way they wanted. The room remained silent for a few moments before Marceline suddenly shot up from her chair. "Why couldn't we just go wit him!?" She blurted and allowed herself to float a few inches from the floor. She looked around the council and crossed her arms angrily. "Finn's never done anything like this by himself, why choose now to go on some crazy mission by himself and leave us here like frightened housewives?"

She floated away from the table a few feet as she fumed and grabbed her axe bass, the one Finn helped get back from her dad years ago when they still tried to record music together. "It's just bananas..." She growled and strummed a few empty chords, not interested in playing as much as just wanting the security she felt from the familiarity of her instrument.

The vampire Queen looked over at Bubblegum. "Why haven't you come up with some nerdy equation to help Finn or something, like you usually do..." She grumbled, not trying to start a fight, she just couldn't stand the feeling of sitting there and being useless while her friend went and died for them.

This day was crap, these past few days were complete crap, Simon had flown off his rocker completely and done something he couldn't take back; just as Marceline always feared from the moment she witnessed what the crown could do and did to her old friend, hundreds of years ago. She frowned deeper and kept strumming, putting no effort in consistent rhythm. She sighed again for what felt like the millionth time that week and stared out of the candy tower.

Before she could utter another sigh she was suddenly blinded. She threw herself away from the window in shock and fell back onto the table. "What the junk!" She shouted and rubbed her eyes and felt around for a surface to pick herself up from. "Please tell me I'm not the only one to witness this, what just happened?" She yelled and looked around the council room.

"Peppermint Butler, call Finn back. Now." She demanded, her face giving a quick glimpse of a twisted demonic side of her before going back to normal irritated marceline. Peppermint Butler gave a nervous nod as his little hands fumbled on his earpiece.

~Fionna in the Ice Queen's lair, the world of Aaa~

The sound of Fionna's landing echoed through the cavern of glacial ice, sending the clink of metal against frost-covered glass radiating further into the complex that was the Ice Queen's lair. For a moment, she knelt there in her crouching position without any sign of movement, her eyes distant as she tried to pick up any slight noise from further inside; but there was nothing. Not even the faintest breath besides her own. The human girl slowly arose from her bent stance, her piercing blue eyes carrying the burning flames of hatred and desire as they peered into the depths of the darkness beyond her. Her hair flowed down her fair cheeks in golden curls, however they did not possess the same sheen they once had. Truth be told, she looked like a winter wraith in her suit of gray mail with thick leather lying underneath, her face a blank visage foretelling of an inevitable doom. Today, she would end it all.

Placing her right hand on the pommel of her scabbard on her left hip, she unsheathed her sword in silence, not even bothering to look at the gleaming pink crystal blade and its elegant cross-guard; such things were irrelevant to Fionna now. Why, she didn't even remember the days when she had once worn a hat with floppy bunny ears...to her, it was as though it had never existed. The almost-constant smile on her face had long-since disappeared from her soft lips, instead replaced with a cold blankness fit for the Ice Queen's realm. Indeed, it seemed as though Fionna had at last transformed into a warrior with a frozen heart; exactly what the Ice Queen had intended to do for years. Now, those same schemes would serve as the vile witch's downfall.

Gathering her will and her strength, Fionna proceeded down the blank, crystalline halls, being greeted only by her reflections as she passed through. While Fionna's eyes never strayed from the path ahead, she could feel the shadows and shapes inside the icy mirrors warp and twist into figments of her past, each detailing the tragedies of her life that were the result of the Ice Queen's plots. They showed the pain and misery that had been locked away in Fionna's heart for so long...and told of the grief she had never allowed herself to feel. The new woman did not bother to view the scenes, but they still ripped at her spirit more than any creature from the Nightosphere could.

The first of the viewings was that of her oldest friend and foster sister, Cake. She and Fionna, they had lived happily together for fifteen years, defeating evil-doers and rescuing princes and citizens in distress. Together, they had explored great mysteries, terrifying ruins, and dangerous labyrinths. Now they would never do those things again...for Cake had died on the first days of the Ice Queen's brutal assault of Aaa with her terrible magic and ferocious minions. After sacrificing herself in order to give the Candy Kingdom enough time to evacuate, Cake, with Lord Monochromicorn at her side, had died in a blaze of glory and fought to her last breath...Fionna was proud, but that pride had been overwhelmed by incredible pain.

Next came that of Prince Gumball, her first crush and one of her greatest friends in Aaa. He had always been there for her when she needed him most, whether it was for comfort or simply to enjoy themselves as friends. Gumball had shown wonderful leadership, kindness, and patience for her and others within his kingdom and outside of it. He was a brilliant scientist and technician, too...but that did not help him the day he too passed on. After the fall of the Candy Kingdom, Gumball had managed to find and rescue the Enchiridion in the hopes of a way to defeat the Ice Queen. Alas, he died from an ambush on his return...and the Enchiridion was destroyed shortly afterwards.

Then there was the Flame Prince; her former boyfriend and a Fire Elemental. Always warm to her and passionate, he did have some anger issues and difficulties in controlling himself...but he had always had her interests and safety at heart. Despite everything he had done, the Fire Kingdom did not join the cause against the Ice Queen until it was too late. Even though Fire should have defeated Ice easily, the Ice Queen's magic had grown too strong for even the Fire King himself...and before long, the Fire Kingdom fell, with the Flame Prince dying at his kingdom and father's side after seeing to her escape. Once more, another sacrifice in the hopes of the Ice Queen's eventual defeat.

Although, perhaps the most tragic of all had been Marshall Lee's death...at Fionna's own hands. When they first met, they barely got along and often squabbled and argued, but they had eventually grown to enjoy each other's company, even so far as sharing their locked-away feelings for one another, like Marshall's issues with his mother and her own fears. Just a couple months back, she had encountered Marshall again...terrorizing a minor kingdom in the southeast corner of Aaa and killing in the name of the Ice Queen. The vampire had somehow been charmed by one of the Ice Queen's twisted spells, and he had become something much different from what he once was. Fionna had tried numerous times to help him break free from the magical hold of the charm, but it was too strong to shatter. In a brief moment of control and clarity, Marshall had asked her to kill him, so that he could stop harming innocents...she had no choice but to fulfill his wishes.

The last swirl of images had finally caused a tear to fall from Fionna's right eye, the drop of liquid freezing from the cold air into a shiny ice crystal on her cheek. She barely felt the chill against her flushed cheeks. Her hands gripped even more tightly on the hilt of her weapon, her knuckles whitening from the pressure she applied to it. As she descended into the lair, she could sense it getting darker and colder with every step. It would not be long before she saw...her. This was the day in which she would return every drop of blood spilled by the Ice Queen...including her own, hopefully. In this now-cold, desolate world...there was nothing left but this.

"...I'll take upon your darkness...so that I can finally sleep."

Fionna murmured the words in a voice as cold as the air and walls, her breath coming out in puffs of white-gray mist. She continued this way, her hands shaking slightly while she pursued her prey that hid in the darkness. Her steps never faltered, even when all had turned to pitch-black; she knew by instinct where to go...an animal always knew where to go when it was going to die. It seemed as though she had traveled these halls for hours, days even, before she finally saw a brief glimpse of light; it was the magical torchfire of the Ice Queen's inner sanctum, where she would no doubt be sitting on her throne. Clenching her teeth, Fionna began to charge forward into her enemy's sanctuary, her blade held out beside her as her voice unleashed her frosty rage.

"ICE QUEEN!"

Fionna's voice echoed off the ways as she rushed out into the open, her fiercely-lit eyes falling upon the dreaded Ice Queen herself, taking in every scrap of detail about the witch. From her regal posture, elegant face, flowing white hair, and sensually feminine figure, the Ice Queen was a model of perfection and beauty, even with those ridiculously long eyebrows. For a moment, Fionna felt a pang of jealousy...but it was for only a moment before more violent, darker feelings washed it away. Raising her blade, Fionna pointed the tip in the Ice Queen's direction, her face twisted in pain and hatred. "...Why? Why do you have to exist? Why couldn't you just stay locked away in your hole here...and not take everything away from me?! Why?!"

The Ice Queen put on a smile that did not reach those pale, snow-white orbs that were her eyes and continued to stare at Fionna before pursing her lips and speaking in a voice that was sultry and breathy. "...It took you long enough to get here, my dear Fionna. Finally decided to grace me with that lovely face of yours?"

"Answer me, witch! Don't avoid my questions!" Fionna cried out fiercely, her own eyes staring daggers into the Ice Queen. The glare only caused the wicked woman to laugh, her voice like silver bells letting loose their mournful tones. The laughter only made the rage broiling inside Fionna grow...the only source of heat in a hundred miles, no doubt. When the laughter finally died down, the Ice Queen answered.

"Because, my dear girl; I want everything. I want the world, it's riches, it's people...I always get what I want in the end, Fionna. That includes you."

"I should have killed you off years ago, before any of this-"

"Ah! But you didn't...you couldn't, because you are a heroine. You cannot kill me, nor will you ever do so."

"I'm no longer a heroine. You took that away with everything else, Ice Queen."

The smile grew wider on the Ice Queen's face, and she clasped her hands together and eyed Fionna as though she we an appraiser setting a value to a jewel. After a couple minutes of study, the smile slipped from the Ice Queen's face and she spoke once more, her tone no longer holding the amusement it previously had. "Very well, girl. Come...come and strike me down, if you have the spirit! Bring that sword and thrust it through my bluish skin, and see how nothing-"

A flash. A brilliant, hot, blazing flash of white light filled the room, blinding Fionna and causing her to shield her eyes from the intense light. The whiteness covered everything, wrapping her in binding streams of light and feeling herself being...carried...by it. A gentle, old male voice echoed inside her head as the white void covered her; "I am sorry, my sweet, sweet Fionna...that we will never meet and be in love. Forgive me." The words sent confusion and fear through her body like a torrent, washing away everything else as all she knew turned to white.

As quickly as it arrived, the white light was gone...and she opened her eyes to find herself in a room completely different from the Ice Queen's throne chamber, if of the same particular style. However, the Ice Queen was still on hee throne, with a bewildered expression that appeared to be just as shocked as her own. With hysteria rising, she did not notice the boy behind her and stared at the Ice Queen.
"Wh-what did you do? What new spell have you made this time?!"

~Entering; the World of Ooo~

Princess Bonnibel Bubblegum felt her nerves bubble, giving her a nauseous feeling within her stomach that made her practically too shaky to keep the sturdy composure she knew her subjects yearned for at this time. They were all in a nervous state, just as she was, but she had to lead by example and contain her slight panic. She couldn't help but feel her want to mourn for her fallen princesses, but her face had to hold the expression of strength to keep other's panic at bay. She exhaled as she heard Peppermint Butler speak to Finn. His voice made her stomach dance and flip even more from how uncontrollably uneasy she was about this whole situation. She remembered hearing him go into his uproar of revenge to stop the Ice King, and she remembered clutching his wrist to get him to calm down and stay within the safety of the walls of the Candy Kingdom. All she wanted was him to stay with her and reassure her that everything would be okay, but she couldn't ask that of Finn. She was the one to play that role. Even though he was older, he was still a child and she was the example, the ruler. She even tried commanding him to stay, but she knew that wouldn't work, even though she shouted it as he attempted to exit the room. Of course, just as she suspected, he was gone just as soon as she turned her head.

The moment she heard that he was gone, she felt her hands burn with the want of his wrist back within her grasp. Finn. He always had to be the hero, and he always was the hero but the moment he was gone, she wished with all her being that he for once wasn't the hero. The princesses had fallen so easily to the Ice King, as well as their guards. Even though Finn had risen to the occasions before, she could not shake the memories of the times she had to step in from his foolish decisions. But this time she couldn't save him. She couldn't jump in at the last second to help him recover from his poor choices. She was on full protection and lock down, to the point where she could barely attempt to experiment with ways to perhaps save the madness that the Ice King had begun. It was all about reassurances, the speeches, and the meetings to arrange protection for her and the rest of the princesses.

As Finn's voice disappeared from the room, she bit down onto her lip. She wanted to scream at him for being so foolish and childish, but she just kept her mouth shut. She couldn't even fathom looking at him now from how uncontrollably angry she was at him. How incredibly stupid. Her heart ached at the mere thought of Finn being hurt. Not only was she not able to save him, he was all alone and without Jake.

"You stupid, stupid boy-," she began but her head lifted as soon as she heard Marceline's voice hiss towards her. She glared at her, furrowing her brows and gripping onto the skirt of her dress.

"How dare you say such a-...," Bubblegum began to snap back, but cut herself off. She wasn't even in the mood to argue with Marceline. She just threw her hands up and let out a long, agitated sigh. Gathering herself to her feet, she turned away from Marceline. The meeting was supposed to have started by then, but they were still waiting on Bubblegum. She turned to the window just behind the front table, looking outside toward where Finn would have traveled to the mountains. Her stomach turned as her eyes wandered over the horizon. The sky was dull and seemed to be lacking life lately. Many assumed it was because the princesses were starting to disappear, but it even looked duller to her.

"Princess, shall we start?" she heard Peppermint Butler mutter to her. She looked down at him and attempted to give him a reassured expression.

"Yes, lets go ahead and begi-," she started but just as she went to finish her sentence, she was taken back by the sudden flash of light illuminating their surroundings. She jumped, her heart dashing almost from her chest as she heard the candy people cry out and shriek from their surprise. Her panic rose up in her throat.

"Call Finn back, now!" She commanded, almost as quickly as Marceline. She somewhat moved before Peppermint could even fumble with the idea of moving to call him, and almost snatched the cords away from him but just as her fingertips brushed the wires, she stepped back. Swallowing down the lump in her throat, she attempted to breathe.

Finn, what have you done?

"
Everyone, it's all right. Calm down. We all saw it and Finn should be calling us soon. Maybe him and the Ice King have... worked something out. This is not the time to panic. We have no idea what could have happened. All we can do now is wait patiently for Finn," she exclaimed to the room. She forced a smile, folding her hands in front of her dress as her knees continued to fight against the buckling want to let her collapse in fear of Finn. She looked down at her hands, glancing at the palms that once clutched onto Finn's wrist. She suddenly yearned for his loud voice booming throughout the room and his contagious laughter that would bring everyone into a cheerful nature that they never stopped to appreciate or notice before.

"You foolish little boy," she muttered under her breath, clutching her hands together.

Flame Princess was calm at first, yet despite her years of training, despite her gain of maturity, she couldn't force back the the brief flare of anger that spurted loose from her when the transmission between Finn was abruptly ended. Her hair flickered to life and rose upward just as a wave of heat escaped her heavy armor, she opened her mouth to yell for Peppermint butler to re-engage the transmission only to be beaten to it by Marceline. The bickering, or almost bickering between Marceline and Princess Bubblegum distracted for a little while, though it didn't amuse her in the slightest like it would have normally. It was however, a good reaction, because she was ill prepared for the bright illumination of light that filled the room, forcing her to close her eyes and glance away, a heart pounding loudly in her chest. What had happened? Had Finn failed? Was he okay? Was this the end?

The flicker ended as swiftly as it began and Flame Princess stood to her feet, the heat surging from her skin increased, melting the candy chair that she sat in only a few seconds before. She glanced around wildly, staring at Princess Bubblegum in bewilderment, "Wait for Finn? Are we resting all of our hope on his shoulders? What an incredibly selfish thing to do, Bubblegum. Now you may be okay staying in your castle while he does all the work, but if Ice King's power is raising to that sort of level don't you think it'd make sense to give him some sort of back up? Now excuse the bleeeb out of me for believing that one man can't do it all on his own, " she snapped, her flames spitting out exponentially so as she turned on her heel and began towards the door before her step faltered and she glanced at the ground, "Even... if he thinks he can..."

Her breath escaped her lips with a long sigh as she visibly calmed, her flickering hair winging it's way back down her back as the heat pulsating off of her skin cooled, she feared. She feared for herself, she feared for her people... she feared for.. Finn.

With that thought in her mind she glanced out the window, eyes narrowing slightly as she looked in the direction of where the snowy tundra would be, she hoped he would be strong enough.... she hoped all of them would be strong enough.

Damn it all and all of it be damned. This entire debacle was incredibly stupid. Why had Finn waited for so long to finally face up to the Ice King, why had he waited so long? The crown and its accursed existence, it should have been destroyed years ago. If Finn was not so caught up in being a wannabe hero all the time, he would have maybe thought about ending the continuous cycle before it got out of hand. It would only take a few hefty blow, or even just keeping it away form Ice King then discarding and sealing it somewhere no one could bother it. Out of all the options, why did we choose the option that let people die.

Jake was mostly silent throughout the order giving, he wanted to speak up, he wanted to yell at Finn for not waiting for him. It was already too late to wait any longer. Even as Finn had left early, traveled nonstop, he still cut thin on time. Jake knew Finn could handle this, just like every time. Finn would always end out the winner, the hero that saved the day. Jake knew Finn could do this, in fact Jake almost felt it was better that Finn do it alone. Jake clenched his fists as he felt his heart pound and let his own self weakness oppress him. Jake doubted himself. There was no way he could keep up with the amount of progress and skill Finn was gaining. More recently, Jake felt himself lucky to even be invited to the smaller assignments. He could barely hold on to Finn as he blazed a path to Ice King. Jake blamed himself for letting his guard down, for letting himself be killed.

Jake had died some while back, and thanks to Finn's efforts, Jake was able to come back to the living plane of Ooo. It made nothing better though, Jake was barely able to draw the will to throw a fist. There was no way Jake was in condition to challenge the Ice King. There was something else on Jake's mind, his own pups' demise. Jake was supposed to be there, to be the father protecting them, yet when the time came he saw nothing. The only thing that comes into recognition was the sharp sting, the cold darkness, and then the almost infinite falling. When Jake was brought back, what had kept him from thanking anyone, was the fact that his pups were gone. None had survived. The only solace he could gather was that Lady Rainicorn felt some compassion towards him, but even that faded in time. Jake felt that Lady Rainicorn slowly drifted away from him, that she slowly began to realize Jake's incompetence. He could barely protect his own children, how could he hope to protect his wife.

Jake's eyes wandered across the table to Lady Rainicorn, her beautiful body properly transformed into human form of equal grace. Jake himself was given a body of a human(at least as human as she could make it), thanks to her magic. Now that they were both somewhat the same race, there would be no more judgment, they could be together without trouble. As well, she was now able to find someone else, someone who could protect her and any possible children she may have. Both Finn and Lady needed him no more, so Jake would have to find some other person to protect. He assumed that was why he was always at the Candy Kingdom. If there was any job he could do, it was being a wall so no one could make an attempt on Bubblegum's life. If Jake could take solace in something, it was keeping at least one person alive. But then, Jake's eyes and heart go back to Lady. If there was anyone he truly wanted to keep safe, it was her.

The flash spread across Ooo, erupting from the mountain where the fight between Finn and the King took place. As Jake expected, Finn was obviously the victor. "Chill out, Scum sucker." Jake directed at Marceline who was the first to holler about Finn. He would have said something similar to the Princess, but he decided against it due to her trying to calm the situation, even as she was obviously having a break down. "You should sit your bubble butt down, Princess. Finn will say something soon enough." Jake himself was worried about Finn, and he in fact wanted to go out there himself to see how things were going. "If anything, I oughtta head out and bring him back myself." He was sure most of them could keep up or were maybe faster than him, but he was the most capable in combat. Honestly, he felt he may be the only one who could react properly, as everyone else seemed to be braking down.

Marceline tried to keep it together as everyone else's temper's flared around the room. She tried to stay as calm as she could although, she wasn't known for being the calmest in all of Ooo. She gritted her teeth and pinched the bridge of her nose and tried to calm herself down but as soon as the words flew from Jake's mouth, Marceline lost a little control.

"Watch you're words, Dog." She hissed and grew a quick few feet in size as few of her features turned into that of a large beast/bat. She quickly shut her mouth and transformed back into her regular form though, realizing she was overreacting. She took a seat in the window ledge again and looked out into the Candy Kingdom. From where she sat she couldn't see any Candy people in the streets, they were most likely, huddled in their homes, praying to Glob.

"I'm just worried..." She mumbled and looked over to Bubblegum who was clutching her hands. A small twinge of guilt struck her from when she snapped at her. "I think at least some of us should go and see if he's okay, or if the Ice King is dead." She suggested.

Marceline's eyes swept over from PB to Flame Princess. She's never really talked to her so she wasn't sure how she felt but, for what it's worth she was glad she wasn't dead at the hands of the Ice King.

Ice King... Simon. She furrowed her eyebrows and tried to push the memories from her head as she turned her head away from the council and back down into the kingdom. If only she'd destroyed the crown years ago. If only.... everything would have been different.

"This is all a bunch of junk. I'm out, who's with me? Bubblegum?... Jake...? Fire P...?" She looked around the room. She couldn't stand to sit here any longer, she wasn't even sure why she was right now, normally she'd already have left despite anyone's objections. She new the top priority was keeping the princesses safe but, what better way than to keep them with her?

She cracked a small smile, that smile that everyone knew when she felt what she was doing was right. "c'mooon."

LSP looked around the board room were the meeting for what would be done about this serious predicament. "This is stupid" LSP muttered. She didn't even get why she was here. Princess Bubblegum had begged her to come as she was extremely concerned for her safety. She knew if the princess of the Candy Kingdom was paying this much attention to her she could get others to as well.

She sighed and plopped into a chair "Oh I am soooo worried about Lumpy Space" she cried, but it appeared nobody heard her. They had much more important matters to attend to. More important than Lumpy Space Princess's drama anyways. Lumpy Space wasn't even a part of Ooo. LSP let out a big breath and grumbled to herself.

LSP was truly concerned for Finn and his safety since he was the hero of Ooo. She didn't even know where Finn was and what he was doing. She knew that Princess Bubblegum had told her that he had gone to the Ice King's Lair as she entered, but so many things could have happened to him. She should offer to let everyone live in Lumpy Space, that way they would be safe and Ice King wouldn't be able to even get in without a password that changed quite often.

"So, what's going on?" she asked hoping to get an answer. Just as the words left her lips a bright flash of light spread all across the sky of Ooo like lightning "Oh my glob! What the lump was that!?" LSP tried to stay calm as inexplicable flashes of light weren't normally a good thing. Soon bickering started between everyone and LSP didn't know what to do. She then heard Marceline declare that this whole thing was a bunch of junk "You're right, Marceline! We should all come with me and, like, totally party in Lumpy Space! You guys would all be safe and that Ice King couldn't even get in!" she was happy with her plan and knew everyone would love it. Obviously.

Lumpy Space Princess then remembered that her parents told her when she got back from this council meeting of sorts that she would have to take the responsibility of becoming the Lumpy Space Queen. Her parents were getting quite old and her mother was getting a bit senile. As soon as she remembered she wanted to revoke her previous statement, but she knew it would come off as terribly insensitive! If they decided to go with her idea she'd need to govern over the Lumpy Spaceians as well as her friends who had totally different needs from the Lumpy Spaceians. "I can be so lumping stupid..." LSP muttered under her breath.

The Land of Ooo was not the once colorful place that she and her dear friend Bonnibel grew to love. It was like the was covered with gray as if knowing the blood that has been spilled on to the cold ground. She could only watch her dear friend. Bonnibel, undergo a breakdown, even though she tries to hide her fear of Finn's safety it was transparent as glass to her. Lady opened her mouth to say some reassuring word to Bonnibel but they died before they could leave her mouth. She let out a soft sigh as she looked out into the distance, where did it all go wrong. Lady didn't know exactly when it started to go downhill for Ooo, as she has feel dispair at her massacred pups. They were shortly killed when she heard of Jake's death from Bubblegum. She couldn't handle the thought of Jake dieing, the only solace was the fact that she had five precious pups to remember him by.

So when her pups were killed in cold blood she felt that she was not cut out to be a mother. A mother was suspossed to protect her children from harm, she was weak, not fit for combat just like Finn implied those years ago when Jake thought they should hang out. She could have tired to improve her magic to give her the strength needed to protect her children but she didn't. When Jake came back from the other side she was overjoy and would console her love that it wasn't his fault that their pups were gone. It was her's. She never told Jake for the fear of him leaving her again...but she knew that it can't be hidden forever.

Lady vowed to herself that she would become stronger so that Jake wouldn't have to protect for every little thing. He was Finn's sidekick and companion and she respects that he needs to help Finn protect Ooo. She couldn't place that type of burden on Jake, so she spent various hours reading and practicing her magic improving it to the point that she was able to turn herself and Jake into humans. Its not enough though. So Lady continued to improve only seeing Jake occasionally at a time.

Lady was brought out of her thoughts as she saw a bright white flash coming from the Ice Mountains. Lady turned her head to listen to LSP's and Marceline's suggestions. Knowing that they won't get anywhere without Princess Bubblegum, she said in a clear voice "Bonnibel. We need to start this meeting for the good of your kingdom and its inhabitants. We can't afford to waste anymore time." Lady has mastered English with the help of Jake and Bonnibel as it was a hassle to get anyone to understand her without Jake or PB. She still however can speak in Korean but only when her emotions get the better of her.

With a snap and pulse of receding energy the world snapped back into fruition as Ooo shoopk and trembled beneath the release of the crowns momentous power. The ground that once housed the inhabitants that tried to thrive and grow and live now quaked with the bellowing unforeseen doom that would plague and wash over the land in a stain of carnage and fear. The earth split and jagged stalactites of rocks pierced through the once grassy terrain. The sea retreated as if the continent of Ooo was pushing itself higher out of the water as ruins from the ocean floor penetrated from the dark blue depths. Mountains ruptured and shattered as the very topography itself became a gross exaggeration of what it once was.

This was the time that no one could have predicted... what some would call the destruction of Ooo.

~Candy Kingdom

The gentle spires of peppermint and taffy shook and jingled as the many adornment of candy jewels fell to the floor. The subtle crack of gingerbread walls of the homes and crumbs flaking from the cake surfaces. The small candy people huddled closely in their houses as the hallow walls vibrated in a quick fierceness... then all stopped.

The city was awashed in a new found quiet as only the sound of the weeping gumball baby in the houses. As its muffled cries only added to the eerie darkness of the cloak of night that now spread over all of Ooo. Lights began to flicker on as the candy kingdom sprung into life in the night as the small holes for windows glowed with yellow and orange. The street lamps glowed heavily as the city prepared itself for the new night. The tick of nervousness began to sting the citizens as they reluctantly took to the streets to find comfort in one anothers puzzlement and confusion.

"W-w-what was that?"

"I don't know. Maybe Finn finally did it and slayed that dastardly ice king."

"three cheers for Finn!"

"HIP HIP!"

"HURRAY!"

HIP HIP!-"

"Hurr.....-"

The cheering died out as a low rumble snapped the bricks of wafer that lined the streets path up to the castle the flimsy crust snapped and broke as the candy shrapnel sprouted from each jagged breaking.

"W-w-wahts HAPPENING!"

The wall that surrounded the kingdom began to fizzle as a sudden burst sent its candy remnants scattering and falling onto the citizens below as they screamed and raced to find shelter. Creatures of the night exploded into the vast gate as they began to take house to house to shatter and destroy all the residents. These creatures of shadow were black humanoid shades whose very shadow skin seemed to flow with the wind as their eyes glowed a bright green or red. Snapping the fragile frames of the citizens as they cried out in agony.

The gumball mother screamed as she fled from her assailants her baby in her arms crying as loud as it can its fate being held in the woman who swore to protect it forever and ever. The shade of a larger ape like creature swooped and crashed from roof top to roof top as it narrowed in on the frantic mother. It lept down in front of the woman its palm high in the air as it came down with a thunderous murderous clap. Smashing the young candy woman her frame of existence shattered into a chalky and jagged compilation of her flesh. the small gumball baby roared in sadness as it rolled from its mothers inanimate arms. The ape shade quickly reached down with its three fingers retrieved the rolling gumball baby and tossed it into the abyss of a mouth. The crying that was once heard from the child now silent as the sound of cracking and breaking traded the whines for its death. With a quick blow from its mouth the baby's gum insides flowed out into a bubble then exploded as it could no longer hold the beasts breath inside it.

Candy Kingdom... would be lost to the new army of shades.

~Ice Mountain

The roar and snap of the mountain became apparent as the subtle sloping of the inner chamber began to take shape. The pictures of the wall the dead corpse of the penguin began to slide slowly to the left as the very mountain itself began its calamitous shift to be destroyed. The epicenter from the crown had split the ice in fragments as they all pressed and moved away from each other in a dangerous game of jenga.

Finn's legs slowly pressed against the ground as his finger tips pressed against the ice and forced himself to his feet. His body began to sway as the earth below shook furiously back and forth. Finn's eyes shot to the three members of the room the female with blonde hair the blue ice king female... and the ice king who lay motionless on the floor.

With a furious crackle a large icicle from the ceiling came crashing down to the floor below as the sheet of ice underneath the heroes and villains began to break and disperse apart in different platforms.

The sudden breaking of the floor snapped Finn back to his attentive state

"Holy Glob! We need to get out of here this whole place is coming down!"

The platforms each of them were on began to break as the sides crumbled down the dark abyss of the mountain. The dungeon below now was gone as it was just a cast of a black chasm.

Finn quickly took to the edge of his platform as the pillar it was held up on broke and slid forward towards the exit of the lair. The subtle ice underneath his heel began to flake away as he pressed against it with his heel and shot off from it the platforms mirror like surface exploded into shards and collapsed down. Finn's body slammed against the edge of the opening his heavy body sagging half way on and halfway off. His feet flailing as it kicked the side of the mountain trying to find a foothold to help lift him up. His forearm slamming against the edge as his teeth grit in anger trying to pull his carcass up and over the ledge. With a sudden burst of a yell he finally climbed up rolling onto his back as he let out a violent form of breathing trying to gain his composure he looked to the blonde girl. Her platform still underneath her.

Finn's heart racing with a new vibrancy of life took to his feet and held out his hand to her.

"JUMP! I GOTCHU!"

The ceiling of the lair rained icicles down in sharp spears descending from the cieling as the limp body of the ice king slid from his platform and disappeared into the dark below.

Marceline’s mouth dropped as the castle suddenly shook, throwing her against the wall next to the window. She gasped as a small wave of pain rocked through her arm and shoulder but, gritted her teeth against it to roll to the side and pull herself back up with the ledge of the window. What she saw below, among all the Candy Citizens, shocked her.

“Oh my…” She muttered and absent mindedly brushed a strand of long black hair from her face. Her mind was completely away from anything happening in the council, it was like she was all alone up there, watching something terrible play out on a screen and in that small moment, for just the briefest of moments, she felt as if there was nothing she could do... that all would certainly be lost and once again, just as it was centuries ago, the planet would be forced to start over and she'd be alone only this time, no Simon.

Below, she scanned the kingdom, watching as a mother was crushed under the weight of a shadow creature while her baby was eaten like… well, like a piece of freaking candy. Her insides churned as the baby’s body was chewed up and blow out of the monster’s mouth, no hint of remorse crossing it’s dark shadow features.

“This is… its utter madness.” She muttered again, forcing herself to turn away from the window after witnessing the brutal torture of a shadow creature stripping the clothing of a mini-female cupcake and then ripping her apart before going face first into her vanilla cream insides, it was beastly.

“Bubblegum, we need to get these citizens into the castle!” She yelled, unknowing if it was already suggested or not. “I’ll help everyone round them up while I kill some shadow creatures.” She added, a dark edge slicing her tone.

Marceline took a deep breath, gripped her axe bass and perched on the side of the ledge, looking down, and waiting for the perfect moment to leap and hopefully gain a preemptive strike on one of the creatures.

Lady Rainicorn waited for Bubblegum to respond at her but it was cut short as the castle began to shake. She braced the palms of her hands on the table in front of her. Luckily the council table was in the center of the room. As quickly as the quake came it ended. Lady Rainicorn felt that it was just the calm before the storm. Standing up from her chair, Lady walked towards Marceline curious of what was happening outside.

Her eyes widen at the chaos emerging within the walls of the Candy Kingdom. She felt anger course through her as the candy citizens were being massacred left and right. It was as if her children's massacred was being reenacted before her. The hopeless and despair that overpowered her to the pits of depression. No. It won't be like before. Lady Rainicorn balled up her hands in repressed rage.

She had to do something, she has prepared herself if such an event happened. This was a chance to prove herself that those hours of improving her magic were not a waste. Granted Lady was had some doubts whether her magic is powerful to stop the shadow beasts but what choice do they have. It was either to get out there and fight or stand with gaping mouths at the evil occurring outside.

Lady Rainicorn looked at Marceline, her face blank and cool but her eyes were ablaze with revenge. "Your going to need help. I'll fly out and stay on the castle's roof, using my magic to make sure they won't enter the castle walls." she said with a no argument tone.

Flame Princess' terror was rising almost as fast as her anger was, heat and flames spat out from underneath her armor, she was already in motion by the time she heard the first scream. Marceline seemed to be doing the same thing, floating out to the ledge, her axe in her hand, but her observations ended there, twisting down the hallways she made it out the front door, leaving melted foot-shaped steps in the candy building's floor. Outside carnage grew, unlike anything she had seen before. Items of sweetness were being torn apart, viciously, mercilessly, by creatures straight out of a nightmare.

Flames burst forth from her skin, lashing out wildly, as she forced them through the palm of her hand torching one of the shades and drawing it's attention towards her, it moved swiftly, as she thought it would, and it was met with the full force of her flame blade, the blue flame flickering straight from her hand as she thrusted upwards, piercing the creatures heart... or where it should be. Her eyes were wide and wild as she wrenched on her heels, turning to face the citizen she had just saved.

"Get to the castle! Now!" she ordered, the small candycane's eyes widened as it attempted to stutter a reply, she slipped from her humanoid form and rendered herself as a large twisting monstrosity, mouth oozing open as she shrieked "NOOOOW!"

The candycane obliged and she turned to the next shade, wincing as it cleaved a small gumdrop man clean in half, before making haste toward the man's daughter, flames bursting forth from her feet she rocketed forward, meeting the creature with her fist and wrestling it aside, terrified of it's strength as they were sent tumbling to the ground. Where the hell was Finn? He was the hero... he could handle this.

The shake shook more than the ground. It shook everything within Bonnibel, rattling her nerves in a way that made her throat clog up and feel almost like she was choking on the air around her. She knew deep within her candied skin that something was not right and the absolute terror was just beginning to rise within her. It was first the shriek that managed to tear her eyes away from the glazed over setting they were placed into from the muddle of a mind she found herself in. It was all starting to lay on her: the death of her fellow princesses, the fear of the other's lives, as well as her own, Finn's abandonment to be a hero, and the cries that were now shrieking into her ear with a piercing shrill. She felt a tug on her dress but yanked away almost immediately in fear to look down at an equally startled Peppermint Butler.

"Princess, we need to get you to safety!" He cried to her, but as he gripped onto her wrist to pull her away, she snapped her eyes back to what nightmare tore from the ground through the protection of the windows. The vibrant colors of the sky, the lush shades of icing, and sugary sweetness of the ground were suddenly being robbed of their beauty. The earth split, cracking and tearing to release foul beasts that gritted teeth at her innocent people as they cried in utter horror. Some were too frightened to find any means of movement within them, while some could find no direction from their feet that rushed to escape this terrifying enigma. She watched as their claws tarnished the wafered ground, ripping at her once beautiful kingdom that was being threatened by this violent disgust. Bubblegum could feel the burning sensation of tears threatening the brims of her eyes from the sudden anger and confusion boiling within her.

She had never seen such a creation in her life. They looked practically painted from a nightmare she herself could never dream of. Was this the Ice King's doing? Surely not. She couldn't even see the Ice King himself birthing this catastrophe. But then again, she also could never see him murdering princesses. Where was the sense and summon of this massacre against her innocent candy people?

"N-N-NO!" She screamed out as she bared witness to the disgusting view of the crushed pieces of a lollipop girl being smashed brutally into the cracking ground. The princess couldn't breathe. She was in too much panic and shock, watching as familiar faces of her friends and followers cried for their lives in confusion and terror.

"Everyone, deeper into the castle! Guards, get everyone inside! And no one else dare try and play hero! I command you all, retreat to the castle immediately!" Bubblegum shouted as loud as her shaking lungs could scream. Of course her people had already begun to dash for sanctuary but she couldn't help but yell what others had already ordered. Peppermint continued to tug at her arm to pull her along back deeper into the castle but she continued to protest.

"I'm the princess! I need to be here for my people!"

She could see herself reflecting in Peppermint's beady eyes. She had never raised her voice in such anger to him. She wasn't even sure how screaming that made sense to the conversation, but her mouth let it out before she could control her thoughts.

"But, princess," he shouted over the screams. "You said not to play hero. What good are you to your people dead?"

Just then, Bubblegum felt a snatch on her dress. She was quickly pulled to the ground, smacking her head onto the hard sugar cubed ground. The hit dazed her, causing her hearing to muffle and vision to blur as she attempting to kick her feet at whatever had taken hold of her. The princess felt whatever it was lodge it's nails into her leg, dragging her towards it even more. She let out a shriek in pain, tossing her legs about to mercilessly kick at whatever had hold of her. As her vision began to find clarity, she looked to see one of the shadowed creatures pulling at her as Peppermint Butler latched himself onto her shoulder. As he protested and argued by pulling back at Bubblegum, the princess bit down on her lip from the extreme pain shooting through her leg. Whatever it was had smashed through the window, gripping onto Bubblegum and allowing the voices of her horrified people's volume to increase.

"Let me go, you foul beast!" Bubblegum hissed in her proper growl, giving one more shift kick to jab her foot into what she believed to be its face. The hand it had latched onto her released, giving her time to scramble to her feet. But as she rose to run away, she could still feel the tug of it clawed onto her dress.

"I said let go!" She growled once again, snatching at her dress to hear it echo a rip to be released from the creature. Peppermint grabbed onto her once more before they dashed away from the terrors that her people fled from.

Rumbling, it startled everyone in the meeting room. It was not like it was a normal thing, but Jake felt almost no emotion towards it. For some reason, he felt that it was okay, that the sudden rumbling of Ooo was good thing, but then the screams echoed. Jake's ears rung back to the yelping of young pups. Jake's head twitched towards the windows. He could see the thunder striking outside the branches. The rain was thick that night, a storm rolled in from the north and naturally the kids were frightened. It was difficult keeping all the shutters closed, the heavy winds would send a gust spiraling at the shutters, causing them to swing open and crash against the walls. It added to the already loud thundering clouds. It got to the point that Jake had to put furniture up against the windows to keep them shut. Jake could not remember where Finn was at the time, Jake assumed he was visiting Bubblegum. Lady was also busy with something, so all the pups were with Jake that night.

He found himself extremely preoccupied trying to keep them all assured that the thunder was not going to harm them, as well to keep them entertained. After a horribly boring board game, Jake had begun telling stories of his and Finn's adventures when they were younger. Soon enough, Jake was twisting them ever so slightly to scare the kids into a sleepy huddle. After a while, the kids were joking around saying that they had the lumps and that they would give it to each other. That gave them something to do, so while they chased each other around the house, Jake went to grab a snack. As he dug around for some food, he heard another shutter crash open. When he turned to expect it, B-MO scurried by wanting to play with the kids.

Jake was distracted, by B-MO's stupid feet tapping along the ground in the annoying way it did. Rushing over your feet like some kind of rat, B-MO was the cause of the distraction. And the damn shutters, they would not keep closed, Jake told Finn that they had to get them fixed or tightened. "One of these days, the house is gonna flood, you're not using me as a bucket," he recalled saying. Of course it did not help that it was a tree house, so opening the doors would just funnel everything out, Finn never really needed him for anything. His own gluttony was to blame, if he was not always thinking about himself, he would have watched the pups, protecting them, at least with them when it happened. Jake was there in kitchen, already dead when his pups began yelling, yet he felt that he could hear the yelps. He felt he could hear them even now.

The yelling got him back into focus, Marceline was about to launch out the window, Fire Princess was already out there, and Lady was about to follow Marcy. Jake wanted to protest to Rainicorn getting into danger, or any of them going, he was about to suggest that they all stay and leave it to him and Finn. There were a few reasons why he kept quiet. As the others were pressed to leave and escape to help the civilians, Jake stayed exactly where he was when the building was rumbling.

His eyes slowly traced over to Bubblgum, he saw her on the floor kicking away a shade. He did not react with very staggering movements, in stead he clenched his fist. His eyes calmly laying on the Shade's position. His arm reared back gently, it rippled slightly as his arm grew to a larger size and continued to grew even as he launched it out at the broken window. It had lost its control of the princess, leaving it vulnerable for a moment. Jake's now massive hand crashed through the wall braking completely through and taking a heavy grip on the shade. His fingers wrapped around the shade, compressing and constricting its body. The slight sound of popping then crushing riveted from the shade's bod, then Jake released it to follow after Bubblegum, finding that protecting her was the proper thing to do at the moment. The shade's body rolled lifelessly to the ground.
