[OOC thread] The azure tea house [Creation is your oyster]

Both Ledaal (air) and Mnemon (earth) focus on acedemics and sorcery.

Anyway, yeah, Mnemon is Earth.

My mistake. Swapped to Ledaal - I guess I got them mixed up. Either was he's in an out-of-aspect house, but that's the one I intended!

My concept -

Fire Aspect,True Believe in the Immaculate Philosophy. I plan (maybe not will) on having backgrounds in breeding, backing (Immaculate Order), maybe henchmen (mortal monks), and of course some pocket change. I'm going to have artifact short swords (as a form weapons), and armor. I'm out win converts and cash for the Order, beat down some rogue Gods, and glory for me and my brother/sister/whatever mates. I plan on being from Cathak, although if you guys want, I'm willing to be any House and we could all be siblings. Gathering fame and glory for our House and ourselves of course. We can be out untap the hidden treasures in the East.

Let me know if you want to create character from the same House, we could go ahead and group up now.

Ledaal Misora- Top of her class in the Heptogram, well-educated and well-bred. From a well-to-do family.

I think the exact reasons are left open to us, but the gist is that we're all old friends and want to try to claim a bit of cash and glory before we settle down.

Please note that I'm going to point again at the intro post.

You know the very first post that I posted when I said I was going to run a game?

You know the post where I said that you guys all know each other from childhood, are relatives or were in the same graduating class?

You should be able to get together a brotherhood of dynasts with a minimum amount of work based on this. Please stop quibbling on minor details before I start to regret offering to run a game.

And yes, you're a brotherhood, are friends (or relatives)... this does not mean you've sworn oaths (via Sword Brother's Oath on page 122 of DB book) UNLESS you ALL agree to it.

I appologize if I sound cranky. But I didn't want to see people nitpicking on "why should we get along"

I think we all know that, what I think he meant was that he wanted to develop the specific social details of the groups since they -do- already know one another, and it doesn't make sense to start from scratch - they won't be getting 'introduced' to one another.

PS. We should all exchange AIM/MSN etc so we can do individual plotting instead of having to draw it all out here on the board. It'll be faster that way too.

Jeanesse, if you want I'll group with you. We have a complete four-person group, we can come up with a mutual background story.

I don't have a AIM/MSN, but I'm willing to download one. If you have GTalk, I'm on there as volkov5034.

Heh, apparently we have at least 3 wood-aspect DBs, all of which at least somewhat favor archery, and two of them are Cynis.

No worries about how they all know eachother =p

Speaking of which... I talked to Jeanesse and came with the idea he's seeking more elemental power. So he's heading East to find the Wood Elemental Court, and I'd be tagging along as the muscle. He's looking for ultimate power, I'm looking for glorious battle and hoping to be immortalized ... sound good to anyone else?

I doubt my character would feel strongly enough to disagree to going along with someone else's plan as long as it picked her interest.

My character is looking for rare plants to make medicines out of so he'd be more then willing to head east through the wyld tainted forests and such.

Coriander desires the knowledge to become worthy of further initiation into the circles of the Mystical Kiseru Method. More or less, she wants to make her grandmother proud. That's harder than it sounds.

So we've got one person looking for rare plants and cures, another out to impress their family (who is hard to impress), one seeking ultimate power, and a monk who's out score becoming a legend. Sounds good to me, if you guys like it.

As a fyi, you don't need to be an Immaculate Monk to learn Immaculate Martial Arts, it just helps. From my understanding, they teach it to normal secular dragonblooded in the hopes that the lessons alongside the kung fu takes and they get a future IO monk or someone who has positive feelings about the faith and donates alot and such.

From what I've read, anyone who graduates from the Cloister of Wisdom can learn Immaculate Martial Arts. However, they don't HAVE to become monks after that, it's just an option. They are Dynasts after all. Hence any Dynast who went to that secondary school can easily justify having learned the style.

Further, any Dynast at all is easily able to find a sifu for Five Dragons Style.

Though Lost Eggs that are sent to the Cloister of Wisdom are expected to become monks, unlike their favored cousins.

Plus, anyone with enough dots of Mentor and Dynastic blood can probably justify having someone of the Immaculate Order teach them Immaculate Martial Arts even though they did not attend the appropriate secondary school.

That's more or less what I gleaned about the subject when I read through the book. :3

I will definitely not be a full-on monk then. He can be a quest to test his faith, and when he comes back he'll decide.

Would I need to drop the mortal monks then? if he's not in the order, no reason they'd follow him.

But perhaps he would attract other types of followers then? It's all a matter of figuring out what fits.

By the way, does anyone beside Jean and Haku have AIM/YIM/MSN? It *would* be practical to have everyone add everyone.
