Heyo! You can't believe how much ive been smiling the last few hours.
I imagine its been much the same for you but like 10x.

Yeah i haven’t been able to get this smile off my face. And I’ve been trying to call and update everyone when i have the chance man this is a great morning. Seeing the huge sudden turn around with liam has been amazing.
Tho you can still tell they are a bit melancholy about the whole situation from time to time but is trying to act like they aren’t. But still i have my baby back!!! Im soo happy

I also cant help but feel like we have suddenly started taking med school classes with all the questions Liam has been asking lol

Not suprised he's feeling uoset. Its been a rough time. Nobody wants to wake up im hospital but Liam's got to be sick of it kerp happeng.

Yeah dont blame Liam one bit for being upset i would be surprised if they weren’t. Just trying to get them to accept that its okay and that they dont have to constantly put on a strong face is well not an easy task.
Go go Little Dr Bro!
I love the fact he's asking questions. I can nerd out to him later about it. :P
Haha yeah Liam is trying to learn everything they can. Asking a lot of great questions too like things I didn’t even think about

Well the first things they asked after just asking if they were okay and if everything was gonna be alright was about their diet.
Like trying to figure out what they could and couldn’t eat and drink or what they could have in moderation so o. Which this is stuff i had already talked about but like to have a ten year old just asking that right off the bat just took me by surprise.

Then they were asking about the surgery and like exactly what they had to do and well the doctor was trying to give a general answer but that wasn’t good enough for Liam so it ended up being a med student who was assisting with the procedure coming in with like a heart diagram and some books and just literally going through the procedure step by step.

Then he was curious about how the sutures to close up his chest were done so we ended up getting a demonstration of that with some practice pad thing that feels almost exactly like skin. And Liam tried their hand at it as well tho was still a bit weak and shaky so they were getting upset that they couldn’t do it very well.

Like i said i feel like i have suddenly been dropped into med school classes lol

Wow.. I am soo proud of my Little Brother!
I bet the Dr was caught off guard - but it's good training for the Med Student - trying to teach and explain a subject to someone else, plus getting out one of the student suture pads.
Also suturing can be hard, even if he wasn't feeling weak, so I wouldn't feel that bad.

That's amazing stuff, can't believe they asked about the diet tho. That's soemthing even most adult patients forget.

Yeah everyone was very caught of guard but they were all so great and just wanted to make Liam comfortable and make sure that all their questions were answered. The med student was so kind and helpful and just joyfully went through it all with Liam which was great to see.
And yeah thats what the med student said when they were doing the sutures but Liam still wasn’t satisfied lol

Yeah i was very surprised about the diet questions. First thing they said to me after figuring out their diet was he turned to me and said “ya know i really want a big juicy cheeseburger when i get out of here but I guess i should go with like a chicken breast sandwich.”

Good thing we already have a pretty healthy diet tho so not much adjusting needed just mostly cutting back on the red meat a little not that we constantly had red meat before bit yeah.

Liam might have better self control and responsibility than I do... Ngl. Ater getting into hospital like that i'd totally want to have my first meal outside be big and comforting.

But yeah most patient's don't want all the details, most get confused and scared if you try and explain it all. Let alone a 10 year old. It's just soo out of the norm for people to want to know all the little details, how something was fixed, all the steps to get there and close it up.

Have chicken! (I love cooking and eating chicken) :P

But glad you already had them on a good healthy anyway.

Did they have to open Liam's chest up fully, or did they get away with just a smaller incision or laparoscopic work?

Like how many stitches did he get? Bet LIam asked that question.

Luckily full open heart surgery wasn’t needed and they were able to do some less invasive method think Liam ended up with about 15 stitches

If I was there, I just like Liam would be drilling them for exact details on everything. Everything

Glad it didn't have to fully open them up. And ooh yeah that is a really small one, they might've gone in with a scope,

With a nice small one like that hopefully Liamn will up be up and about again in no time!! :)

Yeah honestly i am like most people I really dont want to know all the gritty details of it and was not listening to everything cause yeah i just don’t want to know it makes me uncomfortable im just happy to know Liam is doing good and just need to know how to take care of him and that’s pretty much good for me. But not Liam they need all the details lol.

Yeah they said before the surgery that they were very hopeful that Liam would only need this minimal invasive method and that they hoped so cause the recovery time is far shorter. So hopefully they will bounce back quickly.

Liam always does!
Before you know it you'll have 'em back home as Spiderkid asking for cuddles, peaking on what you're doing, and asking his Pops to hold their hands and help them ride around the room on the hoverboard while you watch in terror. :P
