Fable Fable with real world religions being banned from the roleplay would it be impossible to create a kitsune race since they’re connected to Inari, linking them to Shinto?

You can have a Kitsune not linked to the religion.

You can post it within the OOC here for me to check over.

Kitsune:

Kitsune are spirit-like creatures that resemble the foxes of the mundane world. What physically sets them apart from their mundane counterparts is their ability to produce up to nine tails. Tails are generally gained with age, but wisdom and experience can also cause a new tail to appear. Upon reaching 1,000 years of age and gaining their ninth tail a kitsune’s fur will change to white or gold

Upon reaching their 100th year of life a kitsune gains the ability to transform into a human form. This form can have any appearance regardless of the fox’s age and gender. Kitsune also unlock greater powers with each tail they gain; generating fire or lightning, flight, the ability to create powerful illusion, and invisibility.

Hoshi no tama is a jewel that each Kitsune possesses. The jewel holds the soul and power of its owner, making incredibly valuable to the kitsune. For non-kitsune it is a useful bargaining chip or even a way to control a kitsune.

Laws:

The destruction of unrecorded knowledge is the gravest crime.

Malicious acts towards mankind is frowned upon.

LadyOfStars LadyOfStars So I'm assuming your PC will be a 9-tailed fox who can take on human form? They'd basically fall under the Shifter - Kin category (for the age calculator), though since you're trying to make them custom they don't have to have a forced shift during a new moon.

As far as powers inherit from this race, illusion/glamour is fine. Just remember that with the age calculator using the shifter one they'd physically be around 36 so if you wanted them to appear younger they'd have to have such an ability on anytime they were around others (which is a drain on mana).

As Kitsune they’re different from Shifters in regard such to transformations. The Shifters are humans within beast DNA while the Kitsune are foxes that don’t have human DNA. For them turning into a human is more like casting an illusion spell on themselves rather than shapeshifting.

As for my character I actually planned for him to have only four tails, not nine. That way he has something to work on. However, if it would be better he had nine then I can change him around.

Shifters are just shifters, lol. It's not a beast with human DNA, or a human with beast DNA so that assumption is incorrect. Shifters is used as an umbrella race for races that shift between human and beast (either mundane beast such as a wolf or magical like a dragon or kitsune).

Many resources don't point to a kitsune only using illusion to change their form, but are actually capable of shapeshifting from fox to human; Kitsune - Wikipedia

At four tails though, they'd not be able to take on human form since I believe only nine-tailed foxes get ascend to that power. I have a kitsune PC I made for another RP, lol.

So with 4 tails, they'd basically be a big talking fox until they get their 9th tail and with an illusion they could make an illusion of a humanoid form, but they probably wouldn't be able to do it well over their actual form. So it'd probably work more like they cloak themselves to blend in and then have an illusion version they can present as a human.

The link you just provided says that they gain the ability to transform into a human after 100 years of age usually.which means long before they get their ninth tail at ago 1000. So my character would be able to utilize this. Ability at 4 tails.

I used Wikipedia for a reference and I too have played a kitsune character before.

I mostly linked it because I remember there being a section regarding shapeshifting, lol. I've watched so many Asian dramas at this point that lore is a mish-mash since it varies; it's a Kumiho in Korea (which they can transform after 1000 days of not eating eating and killing humans or something or that nature they can become human). Chinese there is some 50 year marker for it the ability. Modern lore is more aligned with the amount of tails (Eternal Love I believe uses this as the basis for their fox lore, though I need to re-watch it, too many dramas lol).

But still, if they can transform between fox/human or human/fox they are under the shifter umbrella, though as I said the requirement for shifting under a full moon can be ignored.

What about the other abilitties listed?

I'd have to see how you make them function to give a hard yes/no answer. Illusions, invisibility, and elemental based powers are allowed, but it's the application/use I'd have to see.

I’ll start working on my character then.

LadyOfStars LadyOfStars Did you mean for your character the be physically 100 years old? Like, oldest person alive range?

His age is right.
So, he's an old man of 100? Like what I mean it physically he is 100 like
620601e8dec3f2980ddcc4e1b43a0a54.jpg

To give you an idea. The physical is how they physically appear in age and then true age is their actual age, so physically he's 100...

I edited your CS to correct the broken code, and it appears you had RTE on, when using BBCode it's best to have RTE off for the reason of breaking BBCode. Additionally, you were lacking in a 3rd weakness.

Before I read over it, I just want to make sure you want to play an man old enough to be all the agent's grandfather and physically is probably not even capable of being an agent.
