Ok, so I have finished all the Lunar Charm Cascades, and you can find them all in the first post in the Character Thread. Hope you enjoy them, for these characters, and any future Lunars you make.

Sorry, was working on character but flew cross country to be with family for the week of Christmas. Will be leaving tomorrow, hope to at least get character basics posted Monday or Tuesday.

Currently planning on a stubbornly defiant Full Moon named Saheera Al-Kazeem with a spirit shape of a cave hyena. She was a carefree desert nomad for most of childhood until age 15 when her tribe was ambushed and she was taken by slavers. She spent 5 years raging against her captors, forcing hoarse laughter in response to their punishments, and this earned her the name "Aldabue Aleanid" (stubborn hyena, if Google translate can be trusted, lol). When her master ordered the execution of a slave she had befriended, she wept until the sun fell in the sky and the moon rose glorious and full. Saheera's tears sparkled silver in the moonlight, and as Luna stepped out of the puddle they had formed she bid her new chosen to laugh in the face of her despair. The new Lunar broke her chains, killed one of her captors, and fled out into the desert night.

Open to any suggestions, and ideas for how she could have formed connections to other PCs after escaping.

I figured people were away on holidays, but am glad you got back to me. I LOVE this backstory.
Did she hear anything the slavers were saying about where they were from? What did the other slave girl do to get executed?

The other slave was a bright and clever girl named Nazia. The intelligent daughter of a merchant house based on the outskirts of Huzuz, she was captured a few months before Saheera. She routinely preached a compassionate message of hope and persistence to aid her toiling peers. She formed a friendship early on with the newly enslaved Saheera, and encouraged the younger woman not to lose herself in her servitude but rather to resist her captors' attempts to break her spirit.

Nazia's encouragements sometimes had the unintended effect of causing outbreaks of rebellion amongst the slave populations. In the specified instance however, she was not present and had no identifiable connection to the group that rioted and caused a fire that led to a three day lock down of the slave quarters. One of the lead captors, a slaver named Jaruul who sported a deep black hook tatooed alongside his left eye, fancied Saheera as she grew older and became meaner the more she spurned his advances. When the riots occurred, he saw it as an opportunity to both harm Saheera via hurting her close friend, and also to get rid of Nazia's frustrating influence amongst the slaves by lying and blaming her for the riot. It was due to his embellished testimony alleging Nazia's leadership of the riot that her execution order was fulfilled.

Before Nazia was unjustly killed, she had spent years teaching Saheera methods for learning to read and write during their limited rest times. Due to this increase in education, Saheera became better equipped to intercept letters moving throughout the palace and interpret their messages. On a few of them she was fairly certain she recognized the seal of the Grand Caliph, and heard talk briefly concerning Huzuz and its outerlyimg properties.

So the slavers were based on the outskirts of Huzuz? That's got some potential.
And I assume Jaruul forced Saheera to watch her friend die.

Yeah, I was thinking that might provide you with an established group engaging in both legal and illicit activities near the capital region, and plot hooks to auto-distrust them. Maybe they are undertaking jobs on behalf of the Grand Caliph via a court advisor/intermediary, or maybe they are just a criminal enterprise with enough muscle to resist the rule of a weak Caliph. Wanted to leave it vague and undecided for you to fill in those gaps.

Sorry, just got back from trip and was super tired, but wanted to get response to you quickly, so some of post is missing detail. Yes, Saheera and the rest of the household staff were required to watch Nazia hang from the gallows, and then she was forced to help haul the lifeless body out amongst the dunes where scavengers could pick the body clean in the coming days. When Saheera escaped, she first traveled back to the dunes and provided a proper burial for her friend. She also took an iron pendant Nazia had been buried with that was etched with sigils symbolizing freedom, and Saheera now wears it to honor her memory.

Been pretty busy since just before Christmas. Ended up getting slammed much more than anticipated.

I did however narrow down a concept. Someone from the terrestrial families who never exalted despite the high expectation. Perhaps going with the angle that they wanted to be more than just a marriagable candidate to be useful to the family so sought out sorcery. Which would somehow lead them down the path of discovering their lunar soul.

Maybe might work in he part with the elemental lord as a key point as well as some of the elemental orders and families. If I can think up any ideas.

But I will be going with wood style sorcerous martial arts. And elementally flavoring the magics. Figured since wood isn't heavily offensive, could balance well with some of the offensive spells.

And speaking of! My initial spell I was thinking of would be unshakable thirst of the devil maw. How would that be turned nature?

My first thought was like, decay and aborting life energy like the original absorbs water. But while the original can create water to be used. Holding a bunch of life energy might be something that could be used for healing or motes. But that seemed a bit broken for a terrestrial level spell. To be able to summon either from the ether. Worried it would be OP.

So my second though would bike a super green thumb. Makes things grow. So we're the maw would be pointed out a battlegroup to mummified them, and give me water to use as anima or utility. Green thumb would basically have the same effect, but vines or thorns growing from cloths and wood and flesh in the range to do the damage. And leaving behind plants to do the anima cost or utility with.

Will have to think about how to turn that spell to Wood element.

Yeah, I noticed some spells would be easy to change over 1 to 1. Like mists of eventide being spores or pollen related to the same effect. Or obsidian butterflies as thorns or crystal flower petals or something. Or magma kraken just being woody instead of magma-y.

The tricky ones are the ones where a change of element would cause a structural difference. Like flight of the brilliant raptor. Would it be like a seed bomb cannonball? Or an exploding bird of life energy that creates brambles instead of fire? Even if the name is changed and both are environmental hazard. The nature of fire is spread, thus making a narrative difference even if only implied by the language used.

Thankfully. Most of the ones im already aiming for would be within element. Like wood dragons claws or nightmare of the furious jungle.

Ever-Reflecting Leaves of Szorney

Cost: 15sm, 1wp
Keywords: None
Duration: Instant
The flesh of one of the sorcerer's hands splits to reveal a monstrous gaping mouth with fangs of mirror shards and a silvery tongue that bends in ways unnatural. The maw causes plants of mirror shards to sprout from all bones. She rolls (Intelligence + Occult) as an unblockable Decisive attack against all characters, including allies, in a ninety-degree arc out to medium range. Against battle groups, it's unblockable and undodgeable. Each character hit suffers ([sorcerer’s Intelligence + extra successes] − [lower of target’s Stamina or Resistance]) dice of decisive damage, minimum one die. This doesn’t include the sorcerer’s Initiative or reset her to base Initiative. Living enemies without bones are immune. Conversely , enemies primarily made of gossamer, like fae, don't subtract anything from the damage.
The life energy siphoned by this spell is gathered into a sphere of plant life that floats above the sorcerer’s hand for up to a few minutes after casting this spell. The sorcerer may direct it into the ground to grow, causing plant life in an area out to short range to grow, or it can be drawn on with Charms such as Elemental Sheath (p. XX). Even if there are no victims of her spell, she may gather life energy with it in all but the most arid environments.
Control: A sorcerer with this as her control spell has a devil-maw permanently opened on one of her palms. Unarmed attacks with that hand deal aggravated damage and gain the Piercing tag (Exalted, p. 586) against enemies that have any bones, draining it through their armor. Against fae, her unarmed attacks deal an additional die of withering or decisive damage.

Holy frick, spawning mirror shards from within ones body is absolutely brutal. Lol at that point I'd almost rather be mummified than be shredded apart from the inside.

Thats a pretty good 1 to 1! And a lot better name than I could ever come up with.

As a couple questions, the mirrored plant effects would work on only creatures with bones. Basically any vertebrate. Would it have any effect on chitin, like incest or arachnids? And would cartilageous creatures like sharks and mollusks be immune? (Not that im going to go on an underwater massacre)

And would the life siphon effect be separate from the mirror shards? For example, could siphon life energy from plants but could not make mirror shards sprout from them.

Thanks.
Granted, the spell might have more uses for Dragon-Blooded, but hey, it's a Terrestrial Circle Spell.

I would have it affect Chitin and Cartilageous, but mollusks would be immune. Plants are unaffected by this version.
