south is ok for everyone? why turning around the city if we don't need to and have no reason for doing that? (a part from a little reiconnissance maybe)
Well, if it helps, here are the threads I was thinking you guys might pick up.
1st) The random dude clearly knows either some kind of necromancy or sorcery. He also knows about the Eye of Autocthon, and wants it. Those of you with Lore, Occult, or Savant at three or better recognize the significance of that, and though you don't know exactly what the EoA does, you know it's very serious business. Chasing this dude down leads to information on A) the EoA B) sorcery/necromancy or C) WTF is going on with the Raptok.
Now, depending on how you guys run this, I'm willing to adapt my ST style. If you want information out of him, Social Fu is probably the way to go. If you're pissed off because he clearly took advantage of a bunch of DKs in their moment of weakness, a righteous beat down may be in order. This usually leads to taking his stuff, which in this case is the Eye, and the Raptok at least think it's important. And if you've got invesigation charms, you can run back to where the magic went down and try to figure out what he did. Whichever way you go, I'll try to have more of that in the future.
2nd) The Raptok both know what's going on, at least to some extent and that extent is more than you. They're also weak right now. That makes them excellent targets for negotiations, interrogations, or manipulations. If anyone's intending to go the Cecyline route, they're clearly willing to bargain for wishes. Grant them what they desire and then use them. On a more classically RPG good guy path, the beastmen did just knife one of their friends. You could visit horrible reciprocity on those beastmen. Finally, the raptok are the people least likely to attack you if you show up with kind words and no sign of aggression. You could easily learn much from them.
3rd) The strange necomantic dude dropped Ma-Ha-Suchi's name, which means you know at least one major player in this game. The Beastmen lend credence to this notion. People with spies, Lore 3+, Occult 3+, or appropriate connections can all claim to know who the lunar is. He's a potent tool, adversary, or ally. If you make contact through his beastmen hordes you could attempt to ingratiate yourselves in his circle. This would probably involve playing down your humanity, but a couple of ED charms would do that pretty easily. Barring that, you can go kick his teeth in. Barring that, you can try to figure out why he's offing DKs, because those of you who know know his antagonism is usually reserved for the Realm and humanity at large.
4th) Some dude is bellowing a challenge to Octavian from the center of the city. That's freaking weird. Clearly that person knows enough to know that Octavian can be challenged in such a fashion, and is powerful or crazy enough to think he can win. Clearly it's a player, and just as clearly he's ready for a throw down. Your three options here are A) Go fight him (clearly he's not a pacifist) B) Go spy on him (If he's got enough power to think he can win, spying on him might bring significant information) or C) Go talk to him. What would you say? Well you're all Infernals so you could offer to summon the Octo-man himself so dude doesn't have to spend his evenings shouting into the rain. Maybe he likes it, though.
5) Set everything on fire. I'm not quite sure why people like doing that so much, but even when I play there's always something deeply satisfying about inflicting imaginary arson onto the scenery. You are, again, Infernals, and subtlety doesn't necessarily have to be your thing.
When I said I don't want too much fighting, I don't mean that direct violence is right out, just that the game isn't set up so that's the goto solution. Please don't think think that a strong dose of face-punching is never an acceptable choice, though. After all, your ultimate mission here is to kill one or more forbidden gods, and they won't go down easily. Another thing is I don't really know how you guys want to play your characters yet, and I certainly don't have a handle on all your motivations, urges, and unwoven coadjutators. If there's some part of your characters you think is inordinately cool and needs to be involved more, I'll happily run with it, but feel free to bring it up so I have an idea where your heads are at. You can also split up easily. In PbP games I've found that splitting up doesn't pose nearly the problems it does in RL games, and it also lets people who post a lot run while slower posters take their time.
Okay guys. I think I'm going to cancel this as there doesn't seem to be enough sustained interest. Good luck to all of you in such games as you play, or what endeavors you undertake.
Sorry for being a slow-face. >.< I have a bunch of testing back to back at work that is making with the crazy + travel for pretty much all of 2011. I did enjoy the game though, thank you.
