In order to accomplish the Rite of Passage, one must discover their inner spirit...

In the isolated outskirts of Alaska live several communities of tribes. These tribes still cherish their old traditions. But some younger generations are fading from these beliefs from their lack of spirit. The elders try and try to convince the youth but nothing seems to faze them. Until one day two teens from the Puppalo tribe come across an ancient cave. They try to ask the tribe about it but somehow it seems no one has ever heard of this cave. They venture into it discovering it is a doorway to other worlds. In the neighboring world they venture into they discover it to be the spirit world. But they are warned that they should never come into contact with their spirits or they will disappear from both worlds. The two did not adhere to the warning and do come into contact with the spirits. Now the consequences are on their shoulders. Will they make it in time to return their existence into both worlds? Or will they forever fade away?

History:
Since a very young age Sakimy has been enthralled by science and the creatures that surround them. Her family are known as the healers of the tribe, using herbs to make medicines for the injured, sick or elderly. She is an only child now but she use to have a twin sister named Namini, but she died from one bitter winter when they were just a little older than toddlers. This teen is known as a herbalist and tracker in the tribe and can identify just about any plant and animal within their region. Very studious and organized, and since she is a poor hunter her tribe-mates give her bones, claws and etc to tell her about the hunt, she very much loves these small items and often adorns herself with these.

"Hey come on Lucian hurry up!"

"Alright I'm coming," he replied back to his friend. Lucian turned back to finish his task at hand. He grabbed the basket full of plants and berries. One by one Lucian separated the various herbs and berries on the wooden table. "Are you done yet?" the voice of his friend came from outside of his tee-pee tent. "No Cline," Lucian answered. His friend's head popped into the tent and looked at Lucian, "C'mon. You can do that later. I want to go out with the sled-dogs and try to find some meat."

"I know but I promised our shaman for these herbs and berries as soon as we got back to the village," Lucian responded. "Whatever. I'll be by the bonfire," Cline replied. Lucian just nodded and continued his work. He was too busy into his work he didn't hear the sound of his tent opening and the shuffle of feet approaching him. "Oh good Lucian here you are," a timid voice said. Lucian took a step back and looked up, startled. "Oh Nana it's just you," Lucian breathed out, "You scared me." The tiny old lady gave a hearty laugh. "You are a good boy, Lucian," she said, "And I see you have my herbs and berries. Oh, and even sorted out."

"I thought it was the least I could do. And don't worry Nana I'm going to become a man soon! Just you watch," Lucian boasted. Nana sighed and responded, "You have a longs way to go, Lucian. I know you must be eager to join the men into the tribal hunting packs and catching caribou but you have yet met the expectations of your totem." Outrage filled his voice, "But I have been going out and hunting a lot of small prey. Been doing all the unwanted chores. Have watched over the younger children. Aided those women expecting in their housely duties. What more can I do, Nana?" She heaved a big sigh and whispered, "Don't worry Lucian time will tell. Patience is what you need at the moment."

A tribal girl stood outside of her hide-tent, skimming a blade over the back of a freshly slain rabbit fur that was stretched over two wooden pegs. She tossed salt and snow over the back of the skin, and pulled it off the stand, rolling it up with a string of twine "Father, the fur is setting. " Sakimy announced, putting the newly curing roll of fur next to several others inside. A tall man patted her on the head "Good job Kimy, now we can finally start making new satchels for the tribe!" he smiled in his low voice "As usual you can have the claws and fangs of whatever you have cured, and please don't go out exploring at night again. I found your tracks leading out of the village... if you're not careful Kimy, one day an ice wisp might just sweep you away." the father warned sternly, kneeling down to see her eye to eye in a serious manner. The girl put her hood over her pale hair "Dad! Please...those are just silly stories, ice wisps are nothing more than a stream of air whipping around loose snow...nothing more!" Sakimy huffed stubbornly, she had been studying the phenomena for many dusks "No one believes those tall tales anymore..." she laughed with a light smile, putting on her fox fur bag on her back. "But I suppose they're fun to listen too." Kimy smiled. The father began standing straight up, popping his back "Tradition is the essence of our hearts, my little anak. All tales are merely stories of truth...do not forget this as you spread your wings." he sighed, shaking his head.

Enraged, Lucian walked out of the tent. He looked around for Cline but saw him no where. "Sheesh thanks for waiting for me. 'Friend'," Lucian muttered. He walked over to the bonfire to cool down from his anger. The movements of the flames soothed him as he observed them. As he continued watching he remembered a tale that his mother always spoke of, one where spirits danced throughout the night through the way of the sky lights. He gave a small smile at the memory. When he was a young boy he would climb up the nearby hill to get a clear view of the sky. He would stretch his tiny hand to try to reach for the spirits. "Oh how I was so gullible," he mumbled to himself as he threw another small twig into the flame. For a moment he thought he saw a wolf within the flames but it was gone in a blink of an eye. He rubbed his eyes and continued muttering how stupid it was for him to believe in such tales.
