One if by land (1.1A) [Making Friends and Influencing People]

This is for people who are going to the abandoned research facility. you've probably got some IC chat to figure out transportation and any pre-planning you're interested in.

"How about I send a spirit or two with you, just in case? You may need the astral support, and I doubt Misaki and I will need them."

Robin looks up at Ix, "Well, I'd like to get over there and see what we've got. I have a bike, but that isn't great for all of my gear so I'll need to know a bit about what I might want. If you can learn anything by tagging along feel free. It might be good to see if you can dig up any old blueprints to the building and compare them to what Warwick remembers."

"Hey Sheltim, how are the shadows? Those spirits were pretty handy before. Maybe they can give us some warning if there are any awakened critters running around?"

"I like the idea of sending spirits as well to the warehouse. Plus it's nice to have a backup communication route."

Misaki's mind wandered to what kind of research they might have been doing there.I think I better send a tengu to get my own bird's eye view of the place.

after reaching the surface, summon a tengu (air spirit) - force 4

7d6.hits(5) → [6,4,4,2,2,5,6] = (3)

:planned action: after reaching the surface, summon a beast spirit - force 6

Me: 16d6.hits(5) → [2,6,3,6,3,5,6,3,4,2,5,6,5,1,4,4] = (7)

Spirit: 6d6.hits(5) → [2,2,2,3,2,5] = (1)

Drain resist: 10d6.hits(5) → [5,4,6,3,5,3,1,5,5,2] = (5)

6 services, no drain

"You'll have two spirits from me. One is combat based that has orders to defend you. Unfortunately, I can't give it more orders than that due to the way our bond works. The second is my ally. He'll help you however he can. He's good at scouting, detection, and he can even help you resist enemy's spells. He may not participate in combat, but he's a lot more flexible than the combat spirit."

[Combat: see remote services. I can give it one order, "defend Ix and Robin", and then that's it. I can't adjust its orders or behavior any more, and you two can't order it around unless its in the context of that one order.]

[Ally: much cooler, albeit weaker at the moment. You can treat this spirit like a regular party member, ask it questions, ask it to do things, very flexible. Keep in mind it also gives you +1 to spell resistance rolls. The Ally's standing orders are to alert Ix and Robin of any danger, astral or mundane, and protect them as possible.]

Resist drain: 11d6.hits(5) → [5,6,4,6,5,5,6,4,5,3,1] = (7)

Spirit: 4d5.hits(5) → [2,3,3,1] = (0)

No drain, 3 net hits

I want the spirit to use it's search ability on the abandoned complex. I want to know what kind of research was being done there if it can determine it. I also want to look for any possible friendly creatures as well and any threats to my team mates. Anything that requires immediate attention (such as a threat) should be conveyed to Robin and Ix.

A brief gust of wind surrounds Misaki as you see her whispering to herself. After the air settles, you see her talking in the strange elven language to what appears to be a ghostly outline of some large half bird, half man. After a few seconds, the bird nods it's agreement and disappears.

Turning back to Robin and Ix, "The tengu will scout out ahead for you and make sure there's no danger." Nodding to Sheltim, "Looks like I'll meet you at the docks."

I did because 1) it's an uncontroversial roll and 2) I'm using the campaign setting for the dice roller - Seped can double check that I'm not cheating.

Sheidow's correct (see the OOC thread) - I misread the remote services section (SR4 p178) and thought I could only give one order. I can instead give as many orders as I have services. I'll elaborate on my orders then: "defend Ix and Robin and the tengu" still applies, but I'll also have it search and scout with the tengu, and alert Robin and Ix.

Might be a good idea to get some info on our vendor before I get there. This could be a good test for the deck head.. Calling out as she walked to her car, "Hey Ix, think you can dig up the scoop on our vendor before I finish driving to the docks?"

"I'll see what I can find," Ix says. (OOC: do I need to roll something for this?)

Ix thinks to herself, Man, what's with all these fecking spirits? What, they think I can't take care of myself?

OOC
- reference the matrix section starting with page 219. Data search will be the bulk of what a hacker does doing the planning stage of a run. The fancy hacking can be included if you're looking in non-public places or you need to cover your traces. Kiyoshi has more experience doing it that I do if you have specific questions.

7d6 → [3,4,6,1,4,6,5] = (29)

7d6 → [4,4,6,3,1,3,6] = (27)

7d6 → [5,1,6,2,6,3,1] = (24)

Data search for info on the vendor for Misaki.

Looks like 8 successes? I assume I find stuff. I'll pass on whatever info I find to Misaki.

The Tengu spirit had no trouble finding the building, since you had directions directly too it search isn't really the power you need to be using :) However you did give some other clear commands and the tengu is relatively smart so he'll look around and do some assensing. After only a few minutes time you see a picture in your mind of a worn and decaying two story building nestled in an abandoned and overgrown compound. The one time perimeter fence is now a verdant wall of creepers and vines. a soft voice speaks in your mind. "I have no idea what research was being done here, I was able to assense several small awakened creatures living in the area, they are rabbits, they didn't not seem directly hostile but then they didn't see me. their magical force felt weaker then mine." services rendered you feel the link in your mind dissipate.

Ix, you don't fin anything too interesting, a few news reads about the shipping company owned by the man Misaki is going to meet and discussions about up and coming importers of specialty goods.

You follow the provided directions, and within minutes you find yourself piloting even farther into the hills outside of Seattle. Occasional logging roads are the only breaks in the thick wall off trees that curtain off the sides of the road. Acknowledging the beeping GPS you turn off onto one of these side paths, and after the road circumvents the boles of two large trees you find yourself parked in front of the now overgrown fence, this must be the facility you're looking for.

Robin hops off her bike and starts looking for any signs of other visitors. "You find anything about this place on the way out?"

Perception + Intuition: 6d6.hits(5) → [1,1,3,4,2,2] = (0)

If you're looking around for other people currently here you can roll perception(intuition), if this is more of 'find signs others have been here' then you can use tracking or perception (intuition) tracking will be easier.

While you wait for a response from your colleague you scan the area for threats. After a moment you are certain that it's just the two of you and one overgrown compound. A 2 meter fence surrounds the grounds and the rotting remains of a guard house stand by the gate which appears to be padlocked shut with a rusty chain.

Ix will do a data search to see if she can find out anything about this place.

Assuming it's the same as the last roll:

= (20)

7d6 → [6,3,2,2,6,2,3] = (24)

7d6 → [5,2,2,2,4,1,2] = (18)

Appears to be 4 successes. Let me know if it needs to be a different roll.

Can I assume you're controlling and rolling for the spirits, or should Sheidow and I do that?

Ix, the building was owned by a biotech start up company, they closed their doors about 8 years ago. You found some blueprints from the buildings stint as some kind of training facility before the start up moved in. If you give the spirit a specific task I've been rolling for them, but your spirit already did a flyby of this place as commanded and didn't see anything.

Robin takes a look at the blueprints looking for the important areas and making note of potentially useful escape passages.

Looking up she says, "Well, I keep a few things in my bike, and it looks like I won't need to worry about being seen by random persons out here. Hmm," Robin mentally runs down her gear list. "I might find some more general tools useful out here, but I think we can give it a go if you are so inclined."

5d6.hits(5) → [3,4,3,1,3] = (0)

I'm not so sure about this roller... >.> <.<

Here is a list of what I think Robin has:

Wearing: Urban Explorer Jumpsuit (7/7) w/ Helmet (7/9)

Contacts

Earbuds

Survival Knife

Bike: Light Crossbow (clip of regular bolts and a clip of narcoject bolts)

Shock Gloves

Gecko Tape Gloves

White Noise Generator

Autopicker (6)

Miniwelder

Wire clippers

Zip Ties

0.5 kg of rating 6 plastique

couple det caps

Dice roller loves you. Gear looks fine, the blue print is relatively straight forward. You don't think you've made any strong tactical decisions from it but the building layout is fairly straight forward.
