Once upon a Music Sheet

She smiled slightly. "Dont worry about it. Its not that big of a deal. The cars probably fine." She shrugged it off hoping he wouldn't make a big deal of it.

The room was silent and had a heavy feeling to it. She tried to say something, but she couldn't talk about it. She knew she might cry again if she said something about her grandma. She tried to think of something other, but again nothing.

She wasnt much of a drinker being under aged, but she had drank In the past she was fine with it....as long as she didn't drink to much. She nodded in agreement "yea lets do that. Let me go and fix my makeup ill be back." She walked away into the bathroom.

She came back out looking better, but still heavy hearted. She smiled "I know this great place. Come on well take my car. Unless you want me to ride handle bars on your bike." She laughed slightly walking out of the cafe. She got in the car and started driving. With him in the passengers seat.

Steve waited for her in silence, sitting on one of the chairs in the cafe, wondering how things had gone this far and why all of this was happening. He was of course blaming the town. This town was cursed and therefore bad things would happen when he sat foot in it. Leaning back, whipping away trails of blood from underneath his nose he looked back up at her when she returned, looking like a lady and not like a poor little girl.

Steve got out of his seat and slowly followed her. Hoping to a god or two that their old classmates had moved away or died... cruel? Maybe, he simply didn't want to see them. He didn't mind this little lady but be minded everyone else quite a bit.

The young man got into the car seat and sat down next to her. He wondered if he ever should show her his car. It was a lot fancier than whatever she was driving around in. It made him feel guilty, for believing that money was that important when he indeed already knew that it wasn't, peering out the window he said: "Where can you get a drink in this town, now?"

"Ummm best place, probably the pub a little ways from here" she started the car and began driving. "Thank you." she said after a moment of silence.

She looked over at him and slightly smiled. Then looked at the road. "I dont know if you just want a drink, or if you want to make me feel better. Which ever one thank you for accompanying me tonight."

They got to the bar and got out of the car. It was old and had an old fashion to it. "Its pretty old, but they have great drinks here." She laughed slightly and walked in.

He remembered this place. He had been outside once, waiting for his father. He couldn't remember why at this point in time, but he had a feeling it had something to do with a party or so. Steve held the door open for the young lady, wondering again how to word himself. He didn't wish to sound like a complete a-hole, nor did he want to sound as if he was smitten. He was one of the two but certainly not the other.

Walking inside the young man located a table and pulled out a chair for her, like gentlemen did in film, he didn't actually know if men did that in real life for he had never done it or seen anyone do it. "Why if I want to do it for both reasons?" He asked, peering at her. "What would you like? I'll pay." He probably had more money than anyone in this shitty little village could dream of. Feeling bitter the man pulled his hands down the pockets of his trousers and watched her silently.

She laughed as he held the chair out. "Thank you what a gentleman." She smiled as he sat down. "Well I guess you can do both reason." She smiled again. She was still sad, but being with him always made her feel better. She notices that he was staring at her. She smiled again. When the waiter came over "what can I get you to?"

Ill have she looked at the drinks, but just decided to go with a beer. "Ill take a beer." She always loved the beer here. Last time she drank here, a couple of month ago she found out of her grandma was sick. Her grandma has been strong for her. She sighed.

Steven thought he had to walk up to the bar, forgetting for a moment that he was no longer in the big city, these people had time to have good service, or really shit one. He sat down, on the seat opposite hers, stroking his chin in thought. "I'll have a Guinness, thanks." He said simply without looking at the waitress. He never made eye contact with anyone, could he help it. "So, how come you stuck around here for all these years?" He asked, scratching the back of his head. "How old are you now? Sixteen? Eighteen?" He couldn't help that he didn't know, they hadn't seen each other in far too long.

She smiled at the waitress as she walked away. She turned her attention back to Steven "stuck here? Ive lived here for all my life. I love this town, I cant imagine living somewhere else. I am 17, how old are you 40?" She said jokingly. "What have you been up to."

The waitress came back and sat there drinks down. She smiled and went back to work. Elana smiled and drank some of her beer.

Forty? He sighed heavily. He felt a bit like it, sometime. He leaned back in his seat and grabbed his stall glass, looking at it with hungry eyes and quickly took a big gulp. Already feeling a lot better. "Not really. Twenty one." He said, slowly. He didn't feel like twenty one. He had worked enough to retire, even. It was rather insane. "I'm a lawyer in the big city. Or I was until it made me miserable and I decided to get back here. What a change!" He raised his glass in the air and took another gulp. On who's never would the town not get on? Was he the only person who didn't enjoy a single thing about it, except the girl in front of him obviously.

Seventeen? That wasn't even legal anymore. If he would go that far. He supposed that he could get around it. The age gap wasn't that big. Not that he intended to sleep with her... But for reference.

She drank some more, feeling the pressure going away slowly. "I work in a flower shop, the owner told me that I matched the flowers. I don't know what she meant by that...hopefully it was a complement." she laughed. He became more attractive since she saw him. She has had a huge crush on him since she had known him. She smiled, and prayed they would still have a friendship. She loves this town, buts its been lonely. It has always been, but he made it less lonely. "Rather then the new kids around town, this place is the same... you haven't missed much. Why did you come back?" She had missed him so much, when he first left she became very, very lonely. She never made friends so he was a big deal to her. She continued to drink enjoying the time with him. Leaving the problems at the door. She smiled at him, he had become such a grown up. She was probably just a kid in his eyes. That made her sad...she knew the reason, but pushed it away quickly. She still could crush on him.

Everything she said about the town just made it even more dull. People there were strange, they were either too friendly or too rude. Steve figured that he would fit in with one of the categories more than the other which made him rather frustrated which just made him suit it even more. He took another gulp of beer, wondering to himself how much the girl in front of him actually had been drinking, with him away. Steve had managed to count himself as a first class alcoholic. Which meant that he drank quite a lot. Every weekend after work, Friday to Sunday but it never became 'disgusting' he was drunk for most parts of the weekend but unlike most alcoholics the lower once he never smelled of it, he had good hygiene , knew how to dress, knew how to talk and behave.

He just had a minor drinking problem, probably because he was miserable when he was sober. It would take him a lot longer to feel the effect of the alcohol though, which probably was a good thing. He didn't wish to be drunk around a seventeen year old, no matter if they had grown up together. Was she even allowed to drink?

"Because the city was just as dull, to be honest. Yeah sure things happened, all the time but my work was frustrating and I didn't get the kick out of it that I wanted just a load of cash."

"the city dull? this town is probably the dullest place ever..." she shrugged "did you think it was going to change?" she noticed that she began to feel tipsy. She stopped drinking, she was horrid drunk. She was flirtatious, hotheaded, outgoing. She was seventeen ,but she drank anyways. This town was small and knew her. The knew she was responsible, so they allowed here to drink, and any other kids that wanted to drink had to pay places extra. yes some people in this town would never let her touch alcohol. She wanted to drink more, but didn't want him to see her drunk, but she stll felt sadness, worried, panicked. She wanted all those feelings to disappear.

"what are you gonna do here, or are you rich enough just to live?" she was curious. She knew lawyers made good money ,but was it enough? was he going to get a job here?

She asked him about his job, that seemed to be the ongoing topic, now a days. He simply shrugged, wondering how he was going to word it but after another gulp of beer he decided hell with it and opened his mouth. "I have enough money to stay away from work for a couple of years. If I do one or two contracted jobs every sixth month I should be fine to live rather... easily. "Living and living was two different things though. Living and surviving was probably the better what to describing it. He didn't live he survived. Living implied happiness and a good time, he couldn't quite say he had any of that.

He ordered another beer as he finished his first. "What about you? School or work?"

"I go to a night school, I dropped out of regular high school... and the flower shop." she watched him to continued to drink he could probably hold his liquor. So he was rich... it was silent "so you'd got a girlfriend, wife, kids?" she wanted to keep the conversation going. That meant bring up anything. Her life had been boring so it was not good to talk about. He probably had a good life. She was curious had he forgot about her? Was she not important to him...

He blurted, almost as if he was about to drown when the beer went up his nose. Kids?! In what world did he look like a family man?! Hiding behind a napkin he wiped his face clean before responding, not even certain with what to say or how to begin. "No, no, no.... To all of the above. Geeze I'm only Twenty one. " He swallowed heavily and placed the napkin back down on the table, ordering another beer seeing as most of the second one had ended up up his nose and on the table top.

The man wondered for a moment why she kept asking question about his private life, was she truly that interested or was she a spy trying to poke him with a very long stick? Either way it made him a little nervous. "But no I eh-- I don't have a any of that stuff. If I did I wouldn't have moved back here for certain. Never mind without the imaginary family."

When she ask about the kids he spit he's drink out "oh my" she started to help clean it up with napkins "I was just trying to make conversation, I hope I didn't offend you..." She was still cleaning. "I'm sorry." She hoped he wasn't mad at her. Then his attitude shifted to nervous. She became confused. She finishe cleaning and looked around at the bar. She didn't know what to ask anymore. She hoped he would bring up conversation.

He took a moment to collect himself, not certain what to say next. Why did she think that he had a family? Did he really look like the sort of guy to have one or was she just worried that he had moved on with his life without including her? He knew women to be a bit odd like that. "So eh-- How about you? I suspect you have a boyfriend?" He doubted it, she was beautiful enough to have one, attractive enough and quite sweet. He wasn't certain about her other traits yet however but figured that he would learn them soon enough but he doubted that she had one because then she'd be out drinking with him and not with someone like Steve.

She missed him ,but gave up on the thought that he would come back about 4 years ago "Hey anything could have happen in how long you've been gone." she shrugged "yea I did, but he cheated on me...whatever im done crying over him." she laughed. It was a year ago. She actually thought he actually liked her, but once they started dating she found out he was cheating on her. To save himself he spread nasty rumors about her. That's the reason she which to night school. he sighed as she remembered it. Just another reasons for her not to trust people. It went silent again, She tried to bring something else up, but nothing came to her head. "My life has been really boring. Like I say again, you haven't missed anything."

Steve couldn't help but to frown. He had never understood her obsession with him but he had developed some form of 'big brother' feelings towards her and the idea of someone treating her badly made his blood boil. He stroke his chin in thought as another beer was placed down in front of him. "We could sue him form physical abuse." He said, coldly. In a place like this he would easily be the best lawyer for miles there was no way he'd lose. He took a big gulp of beer and leaned back in his seat, feeling a lot better now. It was easy to talk work and drink, it was hard to be sober and talk life. "Or I could just beat him up."
