Eshi the Vicious
★★★★★★
Chosen of Orcus
Mad Dog of the Veiled
Post-human / 20 / Male-ish
Overview
Appearance: Dark and dangerous, the Mad Dog of the Veiled is instantly recognizable due to their pointed ears, punk style, and striking features.

Height - 5'7
Weight - 140lbs
Hair color - Jet black
Eye color - Black to yellow
Skin - Ghostly pale
Marks/scars - Too many to count
Piercings/tattoos - Same thing
Distinguishing features - Wolf ears
Sharply pointed canines, long nails
Body type - Lean
Attire - Grunge

Personality: Lashing out at anything and anyone they feel like, whenever they feel like it, even without the slightest provocation, the Veiled's Mad Dog is angry at the world and eager to assert their dominance. They don't care for the suffering or desires of others, and are happy to take things by force and crush anyone they feel stands between them and what they want.

Easygoing and reckless, they move through life without fear and enjoy simple pleasures such as food, sleep, sex, drugs..., taking their gratification whenever they can get it, as they never know which day might be their last. It makes them at once both reliable and unpredictable.

Virtues: Confident, fearless, adventurous
Vices: Headstrong, reckless, selfish, cruel

Likes: Fried/spicy food, sharp objects, fluffy blankets
Dislikes: Bland colors, boring moments, restrictions

Habits: Playing with their piercings when agitated or nervous
Quirks: Biting their lower lip when excited or lost in thought

Hopes/dreams: To live as long as possible and enjoy life to the fullest
Fears/doubts: Lack of power, imprisonment, and death
Background
Place of birth: Orcus
Family: Nirele (mother- deceased)
Allies: The Veiled
Enemies: Everyone else

History: Eshi was born to a poor, post-human mother in the dark underbelly of one of Orcus' major cities. The woman had come to the planet on a cargo ship from Vanir that made extra money carting people illegally across planetary borders. Already pregnant when she arrived, she'd given birth to the child in an alleyway and struggled to feed both it and herself. Initially frail of constitution and unable to survive in the harsh Orcus air, she died of illness when Eshi was five.

After that, the child had to make their way in the world alone. Not being a natural-born Orch and having inherited Nirele's weak physical disposition, they nevertheless possessed something their mother had not: a rabid desire to live, to get everything out of life they possibly could. They fought and clawed their way through alleys and slums, fighting for every scrap of food, every item of clothing, every space to sleep in and ounce of respect.

It was only a matter of time before they caught the attention of the Veiled, which they did when they were fifteen. It's unclear if Achiana found them fighting in an alley one day and recruited them, or if they found the Veiled on their own and volunteered- the story gets told several different ways-, but what is clear is that they started working for one of the syndicate's most twisted and vicious bosses as a lackey, bodyguard, and enforcer.

The modifications seem to have originated with Eshi's request to become stronger, and the Lamia's desire to experiment and torture. They spliced the post-human's DNA with Orcus' equivalent of a hyena, which gave them the attributes for which the Mad Dog is so well-known: the ears, the sharp nails and canines, the eyes that turn yellow when roused to excitement or anger.

Under the Lamia's tutelage, they became even crueler than they'd been in the past, enjoying inflicting pain on others the way they did having sex or devouring a well-seasoned piece of meat. As the Lamia's right-hand, they became basically untouchable. Achiana still enjoys torturing them regularly though (the mass of scars criss-crossing their body attests to this), and treating them in a demeaning and de-humanizing manner.

Due to all the experimentation, no one really knows the Mad Dog's original gender anymore (though it's assumed to be female), but they're generally referred to by masculine and neutral pronouns, as well as 'the Lamia's dog' and 'it'- not that they much care. They're used to the brutal nature of their life, and grateful for the extra strength granted them by the experiments, although there is a drawback- the average lifespan of the creature they were spliced with is short and, even though they're only twenty, they're not expected to live for more than another five or six years. Finding that out has made Eshi a little more extreme, a little more afraid, and a little more desperate, as they're constantly contemplating the years, months- maybe days- that they have left to live.

The Summoning: When Eshi became Chosen, they freaked out. Worrying about a short lifespan was bad enough, but the life expectancy of the average Chosen One was generally less than a year, and they didn't like their odds. Since the Veiled wouldn't exactly kidnap and hold for ransom one of their own, they decided to throw them a big going away party instead but, in the middle of the celebrations, amidst all the chaos, Eshi vanished.

They hopped a small cargo cruiser off-world, trying to get as far away as possible, as fast as possible. Unfortunately for them, the Intergalactic Sentinels were watching. They knew the Orch was a likely flight risk, and had been standing by in case of an escape attempt. Eshi was pursued, caught, and brought forcefully back to Tenoch by a rookie Synth Intel known as LX-92, against which they now harbor an all-consuming hatred.
Other
Skills: Street fighting - They've been doing it basically their entire life.
Intimidation - Essential in their world and line of work.
Haggling - A rare nonviolent pleasure of theirs.
Languages - They pick things up real fast.

Role(s): Scouting ahead, guarding and close-range support
Fighting style: Fearless and reckless. This generally works in their favor, as it tends to be unexpected from someone their size. Well, except when their reputation and position precede them, but that gives them a similar advantage.
Weapon of choice: Fists, knives, whatever they find.
Gear: Platinum knuckles, couple knives, mask.

Strengths: Their recklessness, brutality, and lack of fear.
Their speed and agility, to avoid punches or (if needed) gtfo.
Their ability to take a lot of damage and keep fighting.
Weaknesses: Lack of moderation and control.
Their short lifespan and fear of imminent death.
The brutal nature of the Orcus air.

Extra: They always carry snacks, and have a fondness for small animals and bugs.

Name: Agaro Setana

Age: 23

Race: Retasan (Promethean)

Gender Identity: They/Them. (Retasans have three genders, none of which analog into normal mammalian traits. Agaro is an Ati.)

Home Realm: Maat

Affiliation: Enforcers (Maat police/bounty hunters), INTELS (Scouted, began training before being chosen.)

Appearance: [[Drawing in the works, I over-estimated my skills.]]
Agaro wears tightly wound cloth strips when crossing the deserts of Maat, as though they were a mummy, to keep the scorching sun and drying winds away. When in town they wear loose fitting cloaks and skirts, which keeps their limbs unencumbered as garments modified from other species would. Along with the quiet and watchful nature of the Retasan in general, many post-humans compared them to old earth nuns, until they discovered how many weapons were generally concealed under the loose hanging cloth.

Among these weapons, Agaro keeps a few daggers and khopeshes for close encounters, and a small crossbow and a simple sling for any ranged needs. They have used guns, but found them unsatisfying for their hunts and prefer to stick with the crueler weapons.

Personality:
Ruthless, Driven, and Regimented to a fault. Once given an order, the only thoughts they will have on it are how to achieve it at any cost. Having outlived many of their fellow Enforcers, has a slight superiority complex which worsened upon becoming a chosen.

Background:
All Maatans are given a purpose on their birth. Agaro was born for a purpose. Their parents were chosen and bonded for the express purpose of replacing a fallen Enforcer. Of their brood, Agaro alone survived the testing. Upon their second birthday they began training proper.

As an enforcer, Agaro traveled the realm to bring justice to those who attempted to skirt the laws and order of the land. They were unnecessarily brutal in their work. To Agaro, capturing their prey was inefficient, sending a message and preventing future disorders was better. They were too problematic in their efficiency, even for Maat, and were to be dealt with by other enforcers had they not been picked up by the Sentinels.

The Sentinels hoped to hone their efficiency, and target the aggression, to turn Agaro into a surgical tool for handling larger uprisings. They had some effect in their training, but would never see the fruits of their labors. Greater fates had called for Agaro, and Odem became their singular focus, the greatest of disorders and injustices to be set right.

Name: Valtorr Vârcolac

Age: 29

Race: Spiritwalker

Gender Identity: Male

Home Realm: Ame

Affiliation: [Formerly] Augers

Appearance:
100_189.jpgGenis-Vell_(Earth-616)_from_New_Thunderbolts_Vol_1_13_0002.jpgCompletePhoton.pngUntitled (1).png

Personality:
First and foremost, Valtorr doesn't like authority. He hates it. Whether it's with family or the law, he doesn't like listening when people direct and order him to do something because they deem it 'safe', 'orderly', or the right thing to do. He is a man on his own path and likes to do things alone. The only reason he deals with Augers and the other servants of Mundi is that there is no force, no 'because I said so' excuses and there is respect shown to him. This rebelliousness also stems from having his fellow Ameans and others expecting him to do things because he's meant to do it. He is his own person, he can do things on his own without needing help... So he thinks.

Once Valtorr has set his mind to something or his belief in something, then it's near impossible to get him to change it. He's quite the stubborn, pig-headed individual when he wants to be, and even when he's actively trying not to be. This is the main reason why he tends to get into arguments that never end, because he won't back down.

Now, this is mainly on an emotional level, as Valtorr is actually quite the extrovert. However, when it comes to his emotions and thoughts and things? He tends to keep them to himself. He prefers to throw up a mask to keep his true feelings hidden from those around him. Not even his closest friends get to see the complete and honest Valtorr Vârcolac picture. It's much easier to keep everything bottled up inside and makes it a lot less likely to get hurt.

Even though he may not show it or tell anyone this, Valtorr is quite a self-conscious individual. He's got a list of insecurities a mile long and is constantly trying to prove himself to people that could probably care less. There's always this inner voice in his head telling him that he needs to be better, at any number of things. It's not enough to actually throw him into a massive depression, but it's always there, waiting for him to screw up and then it pounces.

Background: Valtorr was an enigma to the Ameans even at birth. Being a spiritwalker, he was foreign energy given shape rather than embodying a particular element. Valtorr was always the rebellious kind growing up, which made him stand out from other Ameans. He felt choked up and constrained by all the obligations and duties that come with being an Amean, and he yearned for more freedom so that he could discover the undiscovered and know of the unknown. This had a significant impact on his relationships with his fellow Ameans, and when they avoided him for his peculiar viewpoints, he did the same. By refusing to let others define him, he grew up to be a bold yet solitary man.

The archaic Amean term Valtorr, which means "obscured," was chosen as his name since it perfectly suited him. Valtorr was discovered on the outskirts of a town and was born an orphan. When he was discovered, an elderly human woman took him in and cared for him as her own. He quickly learned that she went by the name Oshtur and was the one person Valtorr trusted and turned to. Valtorr would remain with her far into adulthood, and she never disliked his unconventional viewpoint.

Valtorr was horrified when he was selected since he was aware of the rumors about the Chosen and how fleeting their lives were. Additionally, he represented the Amean, which outraged Ame. Valtorr was just as bitter as the Ameans, but weirdly enough, the Augurs and the followers of Mundi seemed to be quite satisfied with their decision. This made Valtorr anxious, and he began to consider leaving. However, Oshjtur convinced him against it, explaining that the other races and governments were already on him and that he would never back down from a fight even if it meant his life. Valtorr would wholeheartedly agree with Oshtur.

He reluctantly agreed, and an Amean and Auger named Ve'aeux took him to Tenoch. Ve'aeux was laconic but cognizant of Valtorr's current state of mind, and Valtorr will always be grateful for it. Valtorr was not looking forward to the hardships that were ahead, but he had no choice, alot of people would be depending on him.
