Olissa at your service

Olissa

One Thousand Club
Hi, I think it might be painstakingly clear that I'm new on this site.

Not that I suspect that to be a problem, but I personally don't like being the 'new girl'. For one because I then still have to prove my worth in roleplaying. At least, to some people.

Anyway, I'm Olissa, you can call me Lis, or Lissa. Please, whatever you do, don't call me Oli. I'm not Oliver Queen, and Oli just sounds too masculine for me. (Plus I don't like the way it looks, don't identify with it, and will likely not respond to it...)

I'm 25, have been roleplaying since I was 17. I happened to roll into it one day.

I used to be in a number of MMORPGs, one of which (Wonderland Online) was quite fun, and for certain functions I consulted a website with a lot of information. One of the users had a signature with cute little critters, clicked them, found a (at the time) fun little pet click website, and in order to customize your avatar you could go to an associated forum site. There were avatars there that you could dress up, and had a whole section with roleplaying. That's where I got hooked on it. Had a blast there, then things went south, found a new site, but it was not frequented often so roleplays died a lot, went back to the original one, patched up the old relations, ended up becoming a staff member (site content artist) but I hated their behind the scenes, so I left the site for good (roleplaying had been near dead there for a year, so nothing was holding me back). Got invited to join a different site as an artist, but I didn't stay there long. Management wasn't the greatest there either, and the roleplaying section was as good as dead. Then I found IwakuRoleplay, been there for a few years, and am still there, but I wanted to see if there was some more fun to be had at a different site. They had a link to this site, and that's how I arrived.

Told you it was a long story.

(If you want to know how I came by Olissa as a screen name, well, that's another long story. Ask if you dare ;) )

I like short quick simple roleplays as much as I love long detailed and complex roleplays. I love fantasy, and modern settings (modern fantasy is even greater) so it's likely you'll be able to find me in those sections a lot. While I do like certain fandoms, I don't often delve in them. The only exception lately has been Sailor Moon.

I'm generally a very hands on type of roleplayer. I don't mind being in charge (GM) of a roleplay, but I do also like to just go with the flow and be a part of it, instead of running it.

Beyond that, I like dancing, singing, and acting. I'm dyslectic, so I rely on my spellchecker a lot. Was raised in 2 languages. English being my first speaking language, Dutch my first reading/writing language, though I'm fluent in both. (You might be wondering who teaches their kid to speak English, and read/write in a different language... well you can blame English speaking parents in a Dutch country)

By the way, in my reading of all the rules/bbcodes/policies/etc I came across three errors in the texts, so if anyone could point me in the best direction to send the printscreens to (like a moderator or staff member), that would be awesome. (Once I'm able to send PMs and post links of course)

I think I've bored you long enough with stuff about me. See y'all around.

Hello hello, nice to see other people with experience.

Seems like you'll do well, I wish you the best of luck. Welcome.

Hey olissi! (I dunno why I called you that.. Just gunna role with it xD )

I'm actually interesting in RPing with ya, let me know ^.^

Hello and welcome! I'm still in the awkward newbie phase at this site and you did a better job posting an introduction than me, haha!

@Myrrh Scented I tend to just talk a lot... not always the greatest form of introduction, but it gets the information out there haha.

@DontBeTrippin that's a cute version of my name. I like it, you may call me that any time haha. And cool, don't know if you have ideas or what but who knows, we might be able to roleplay together indeed ^^

@Zab thanks, I think I'll manage indeed ^^

@Musician oh it wasn't in the BBcode part (maybe one... don't remember) it was somewhere else. In one of the messages towards the new people about the having to have more than 3 posts before you can post links. It said 'more then 3 posts' instead of 'more than 3 posts'. Nothing major but just something I noticed.

This was the message up top.

(I guess that area normally holds announcements or sorts?)

@Olissa

It's cool, I could go on and on, but I don't like to feel like putting a tl;dr at the end of every lengthy paragraph I write.

Meh didn't do so either. If people don't read, fine, it's only an introduction, if they do, well yay, then my wall of words wasn't all for naught haha.

Oh it wasn't location specific, it was a banner up top when the account was made and stayed there till I hit the X on the top right corner of the banner.

There were multiple announcements that slid back and forth. (Sometimes moving too fast to read the entire text) You could remove them by clicking the X in the upper right corner.

On some sites they use that system to give out announcements and updates such as 'the site will be down for maintenance from then till then, click here for more information' and the like. I don't know how they are used here, haven't been around long enough to have witnessed that.
